Chapter Six: Not-So-Silent Night

"Ennard-?" I exclaimed, shocked by what had just happened. I glanced back at the knife in his hand, and realized that he had broken into my house in order to kill me.

"Shit-" I gasped, sprinting away from Ennard's still body and dashing up the stairs. My phone lay upon my bedside table, and I snatched it up. Dialing a familiar number, I raised the phone to my ear, before hearing a voice that filled me with relief.

"Wonder?" Techno's voice emitted from the speaker. "It's 4:30 am, what are you-"

"Ennard..." I panted, attempting to catch my breath. "He tried to kill me. He's here, in my house-"

I stopped speaking as I heard my front door open, and quick footsteps running up my stairs. Technoblade burst into my bedroom, a worried expression on his face.

"What the fu-"

"Where is Ennard?" he demanded.

"The real question is how did you get here so quick?!" I exclaimed. "How did you get from your home to mine in the span of three seconds?"

"I have my ways," Techno told me. "Where is Ennard?"

"He's downstairs, by my kitchen," I told him, Techno's very presence replacing my fear with relief. "I think he's dead. I threw a glass at him and it hit him pretty hard."

Techno and I walked down the stairs, me still marveling in the fact that he was here right now.

"No but seriously, how the hell-"

"Wonder, this is a crackfic." Techno said simply. "Anything can happen. I just wanted to be sure you were safe."

"True," I nodded.

We both reached the kitchen, and Techno knelt down beside Ennard. He grabbed his arm, playing his thumb on his wrist, checking for a pulse.

"He's still alive." Techno declared. "This is actually kind of good."

"Good? How?" I asked.

"I think Quackity sent him here to kill you." he explained. "We could tie him up and interrogate him for information regarding the plan and the Project."

"Ooh, that sounds smart!" I exclaimed. Techno nodded, pulling out some rope from under his robes. I was about to question this before remembering that Techno always came prepared for any situation.

I watched as Techno wrapped the ropes around Ennard's hands and feet, rendering him unable to move. I was about to ask him where we were going to keep him when a strange buzzing sound filled the air.

"What's that?" Techno asked. "Is your phone ringing?"

"No," I said. "Is yours?"

He shook his head, before noticing a faint light in Ennard's back pocket. I reached into the pocket and pulled out his phone, which was emitting the buzzing sound. Quackity was calling him.

"What do we do?" I asked.

"We gotta answer it." Techno told me. "We could find something that could help us."

I pressed the green button, putting Quackity on speakerphone so we both could hear what he had to say.

"Hello, Ennard!" he greeted cheerfully. "I trust that you've taken care of Wonder by now?"

We didn't think this through. Ennard was unconscious, and unable to respond. I looked up at Techno, who cleared his throat and responded, attempting to match Ennard's voice.

"Yeah, Boss. I've taken care of her." he replied. It was a pretty decent impression, not gonna lie.

"She's not gonna walk again?"

"No, sir."

A painfully long pause filled the air as we waited for Quackity to respond. Had he figured out who was really speaking?

"Good." he said at last, and I silently sighed in relief. "Return to your apartment, and await further instructions. I'm researching for the Project at the Plant with Boss, and we can't be bothered. The Project is going very well," Quackity laughed. "I think we've hit a breakthrough. We'll see how it goes. But go home, get some rest, and I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodbye, sir!" Techno hung up the phone, before turning to me. "I think we fooled him."

"Thank God," I sighed. "I guess we were right. It is Charles Montgomery Burns that's behind it all."

"Damn it." Techno swore. "And I'd really thought he'd changed."

"Should we go over to the Nuclear Power Plant?" I asked. "We could ruin his plans!"

"Not yet, Wonder." Techno advised. "It'd be too dangerous. We don't know how many people Charles has on his side. We could die."

"True." I said, thinking to myself. "We'd need a plan first."

"And besides..." Techno stepped in front of me, smirking like Ennard had many hours ago. "Quackity said something about making you unable to walk, didn't he?"

I blushed madly. "Oh yeah, I remember that. We'd better do what he says before he finds out."

Techno chuckled, before sweeping me off of my feet and carrying my bridal-style up the stairs back to my bedroom. The night was now not so quiet as it had been before.
