Chapter Four: POV Switching Time!
The sleek motorcycle pulled into the parking lot of the grand casino, and the man riding it hopped off. He began to walk towards the building, looking up at the bright, flashing letters on top of the entryway, reading "Las Nevadas". Β
His beautiful casino.
The man strode up to the entrance of the building, and the doors were opened by an employee with the name tag that read "Homer". He nodded to Homer as he stepped inside, immersing himself in the atmosphere of the casino. The sounds of laughter, people chatting, and slot machines filled his ears. It sounded like home to him.Β
There was a bar nearby, and the bartender nearby looked up at him as he entered. She walked over to him, smiling.
"Welcome back, sir." she said.Β
"Thank you, Comet." the man replied. "For suspense reasons, please refrain from using my real name until I see fit to do so."
"Got it."
Comet led the man to a nearby door, and opened it for him. He entered the small, slightly cramped, room, and stood back to let her in as well, before pushing a small, concealed button on the wall. The room, which was actually an elevator, began to move downwards, out of sight from the casino. The man smiled, marveling in the ingenious technology that he himself had created.
"Have you got it?" Comet asked.
The man lifted up his bag without saying a word. Both he and Comet smiled evilly.
The elevator stopped suddenly and the door opened to reveal a large room where four other people were sitting, waiting for him. One of them, a tall man in a purple suit and hat, stood up.
"Welcome back, sir. I trust that your trip was successful," he greeted.
"Oh, you know it." the man replied. "When have I ever had an unsuccessful trip?"
"Well, there was that one time a month ago-" a young girl tried to say, but was interrupted.Β
"I don't need to be reminded of that, Mabel!" the man barked, before reaching up with his free hand and touching his scar. "I'm reminded of that day every time I look into the mirror."
"If I may interject," Comet interjected. "but I think it suits you."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." he sighed. He turned to a beautiful woman in a blue ballet outfit. "How are things at the casino, Ballora?"
"Smooth, like always." Ballora replied. "Your plans are going just as you said they were."
The man smiled, before turning to the final man in the room. "And have you had any luck finding Spongebob, Squidward?"
"I have not, boss." Squidward said sadly.Β
"Well, stop your searching, because I saw him being hit by a car when I was returning here." the man told him, much to his surprise. "They were following me, and I'm pretty sure they were the same people I stole our food from. Usually they call the police or something, but I've never had anyone follow us before."
"How odd," the purple suit guy said. "Did you know what they looked like?"
"There was one, a girl, who was shouting at me while driving." the man replied. "I tried to shoot at her, but I missed. I saw that there's three of them, the girl, a genderless person, and a man who I swear was the same one who gave me this," he pointed to his scar. "Techno-something. I can't remember."
"Would you like me to find them and...y'know..." Purple Suit Guy gestured with his hands, moving a finger across his throat swiftly. "Take care of them?"
"I would like that very much, Purple Guy." the man nodded. "They might find out where we are and arrest me. And how would this casino stay strong then?"
"I'm ready whenever you want me to go." Purple Guy said. "By the way, you know I have a name, right? William-"
"I know." the man replied, then continued talking. "While Purple Guy takes care of that, we need to evolve the casino. Ballora, you're no longer working as dealer. You're bartending now with Comet. Mabel, you get Ballora's job."
Ballora silently cheered, while Mabel looked disappointed.
"How do I even-"
"Figure it out." the man told her. "We need to hire more staff. More waiters, game hosts, and dealers. Squidward, you say you have a friend who wants to work here?"
"Their name is Foxy, sir." Squidward said.
"Foxy...alright. Sounds good. Hire them, get them started with the card games. If anyone else has any friends that are able to work here, hire them. Business is booming, and there's not enough people. More and more people are coming here, spending their money, and if we're going to create the best casino in the world, we can't afford to have a shortage of workers."
The man's henchmen smiled and nodded at this.
"I mean that quite literally, you know." the man said. "You might think I'm just talking about a casino, no. I wanna build the whole goddamn Vegas! I'm gonna put the entirety of Las Vegas into my casino! Everywhere else will be put out of business in weeks when they hear about Las Nevadas! It'll be the best casino in America! And," the man had a sneaky look on his face. "if I want to be broad, eventually it will be the greatest casino...in the world!"
The henchmen cheered and cackled as the prospect of working for the greatest casino in the world filled their minds.
"Wait!" Comet interrupted the cheers. "Sir, will you tell the readers your name before the author closes the chapter?"
"Of course I will, Comet." the man turned and looked directly at you, the reader. "My name...is Quackity."
