Lamais's pov

It has been a while since I had so many people to read in one day, I break after read-ing the twenty-seventh person and tell Shanty to ask Karly to make me a come of tea. I went over to the house where she had it waiting for me along with what appears to have been my serving of breakfast, I thank her, wash my hands then sat down to eat and drink. I wave to Mrs. Cyan, Roelly and Simeon's wife who were sitting on the couches in the living room reading their bibles and having a reasoning.

The two boiled dumplings and finger of banana with callaloo and saltfish was so good, I went to the bathroom afterwards then change my robe and head wrap before going back over to the read-ing room. Shanty was already there waiting and I tell her to send in the next person, she smile befor saying.

"Coming to yuh is Ms. Doneisha, she wants to tie her babyfather."

I looked at her sideways and rolled my eyes, if I follow these people I'll sin myself I say in my head. The door opens and Shanty introduces Ms. Doneisha who comes in and say. "Good afternoon."

"A pleasant good afternoon, how may I be of service?" I greeted in turn then ask her.

She clears her throat then begin speaking. "Well mi have a babyfather wey mi dey wid right now and a pure cheat him a cheat pon mi, mi caan guh nuh wey and him won't stop cheat. Nuh care how mi run him him still come back, him have another woman pregnant right now and a somebody wey mi know. To be honest mi would a mek him gwane if a somebody else, but right now she have all person should neva a breed fi him and suh when one a mi friend tell mi sey dem a plan a secret trip to come see di madda 'oman wey every body sey good mi plan and come."

"Ok, suh would you like a read-ing?" I ask her.

"Yes and no mi just want tie mi babyfada," she responds.

"Do you know how much to tie a man?" I ask her hoping to discourage her, because no matter how much time I tell people I don't do certain kind of works they still want me too.

"Mi nuh sure but mi walk wid five hundred grand," she answers.

I was so shock I immediately took up one of the candle and walk to a cupboard, I ruffled inside it as if I was looking for something and then went back to my seat. She walks with that amount of money to tie a man? I ask myself, Shanty must be in awe I thought then calls her. There was no response and I stood and look out through the window, she was walking from the front and when she reach I sent her for two leaves of the dragon blood plant.

Glad that she did not hear the amount the woman had said she had with her, I tell the woman to look at me so that I can read her. I will be honest with her if the man needs to go, I would not put up with such a man and I should not even be entertaining this much less taking her money but afterall read-ing is my job and grandma say 'I should benefit as much as I can from it.'

"You can sit," I tell her afterwards.

The man isn't going anywhere he loves her, so I tell her. "I'll accept the amount you carry with you because you have traveled so far and you're going to do exactly what I tell you to do."

"Thank you," I say as I took the dragon blood leaves from Shanty.

I waited until she went back out before showing the woman the silver dish to place the money in. I gather some dried herbs of dried lavender, chamomile and frankincense, I wrap some of it inside the dragon blood leaves and tell her.

"You're going to burn this in the house especially in your bedroom in the late evenings for three nights in a row, burn it in a iron pan don't mek him see it or know wey yah duh."

I measured out a portion of myrrh and tell her. "Boil this and store it ina one glass bottle, anything yuh a gi him fi eat or drink tip some in a it. Mek sure yuh cook him favourite food and fix it up nice, mek some fruit juice and drop some ina him cup before yuh gi him fi drink. You take half teaspoon before uno have sex and give it to him good and proper, take care of yourself."

"Thank you ma'am," she says putting the things inside her handbag with a smile on her face.

I smile too, my read-ing craft certainly pays me. By the time I finish a few minutes past five that evening, I had almost two million dollars altogether and I hurried up to my room and lock it inside my safe before racing to the bathroom to get ready for our appointment and bridal night away.

Cushane's pov

This bachelor party was different from all the others I've ever gone to, Kirkland had a lot of activities lined up for us and none was what we had expected. At one in the morning when we all go tiredly to our hotel rooms, I could only admit that it was the best.

The next morning we all relax after breakfast at nine and then it was on to grooming and getting ourselves ready for my wedding at one that afternoon. I could hardly contain the happiness bubbling inside me, I was finally going to marry the love of my life. I kneel down in the privacy of the bathroom when I went to shower and prayed that everything goes well, for everyone who loves and wants to see the best of me and for those who don't know the blessings that comes with allowing God into their lives.

I've heard and seen grooms nervous at the alter while they wait on the brides and I was certain I wouldn't, I was however, and Simeon had to keep wiping my face. I tried to speak and my teeths chattered as if I was cold, it was a little embarrassing and I wanted to cry when the song began to play and Lamais begins to walk down the aisle. I will never ever take a best man's duty for a joke again, Simeon wipes my face and then felt my hand. He dried my palm with another handkerchief then stood aside looking behind me.

My knees felt weak when I feel Lamais's small hand touch mines and I held it and say 'thank you Jesus,' silently.

Lamais's pov

I was in awe at the decoration of the church altogether, I thought the outside was beautiful but the inside was absolutely stunning. I wanted to cry but remember the amazing talk that evangelist Shimand had given me the night before, I was afraid to glance sideways to look at Cushane properly, I can't believe I feel so nervous at this point.

Everything was so perfect it was like I'm in paradise, we exchange our vows to the loud applause and whistles of our acquaintances and then we took pictures inumerable. It was at this point I see that my mother and sisters were here and I wanted to scream with joy and cry at the same time.

"Si mi and nuh si mi pon di road caz mi nuh want nuh body know sey mi an' yuh a sista."

I hear Dewette's voice in my head, then several different scenes of them running away and leaving me floated across my vision. Suddenly all the hurt I'd felt came flooding back and I covered my face with my left hand as my eyes begin to burn with tears.

"No man nah waan you ino, yuh betta talk tuh di likkle nerd buoy ina yuh class," Says Othelia.

"And tell mama sey yuh si mi a chat tuh man an' see if a dwo mek di all di one grade pickney dem tease yuh a school," Dewette had threatened.

Shanty squeeze my hand and began pulling me somewhere. "What are thinking about?" She ask lowly.

I move my hand from my face and saw her scrutinizing me. "Who invited my mother and sisters?" I ask and she look beyond me.

"A must dem invite demself, a guess yuh nuh si yuh puppa yet," she says and my eyes widened.

"Tsk, come on and smile, today a yuh wedding," she said pulling me along with her.

I smile at how we both look with her pulling me then started to laugh, Shanty pause and look at me. "Yuh si if mi neva know betta," she says and I begin to laugh uncontrollably at her facial expression.
