PLOT

Hawkins National Laboratory made a promise to the Hopper Family. They told them that they could cure their youngest member of her disease. All they needed to do was a blood transfusion, and her older sister needed to volunteer. Amber Hopper stepped in without an ounce of hesitation, wanting to save her sister and keep their family whole. But what the family of four didn't realize was that there were ulterior motives at play, and they didn't involve saving Sara. The doctors at Hawkins National Laboratory told Jim and Diane Hopper that the procedure failed, that they were unable to save their youngest daughter. But the procedure never happened. Instead, they were using their eldest daughter for their experiments, which resulted in extraordinary abilities.

Now Amber Hopper had a secret.

Eight years had passed since Amber's life changed for the worse. Her parents divorced right after Sara's death, causing her to live with her mother in New York City. Amber was forced to hide her secret every day. Some days were easier than others, but some days left her in terrible pain. And it didn't help that New York City was one of the busiest places to live. It pushed Amber's brain to be on constant overdrive, leaving her in a constant state of confusion and fear. As the years went on, it only got worse. It got to the point that Diane could no longer ignore her daughter's suffering. She knew that Amber needed a change. So she did the only thing she could think of to help her daughter.

Diane sent Amber back to Hawkins.

The Hopper girl didn't know what to make of the small town. Everything was different from when she was last there, then again, it had been almost ten years. What she didn't expect was to arrive at an empty house, her father nowhere in sight. It didn't take her long to discover why she couldn't find her father. According to a group of kids she ran into, Jim Hopper was dead. But Amber didn't have long to mourn the loss of her father, especially when she was dragged into what she thought was a game. It only took her a few hours and witnessing a strange attack for her to realize it wasn't a game. There was another dimension under Hawkins that was trying to break free, and now Amber was part of the group trying to stop it.

Her world was turning upside down.

NOTES

▻ Amber and Robin have a very sweet relationship. Robin sees how broken Amber is and tries her best to put the pieces back together. Amber will do everything and anything she can to protect Robin. Their relationship will be somewhere between a slowburn and a fastburn.

▻ Because of the experimentation, Amber can read people's thoughts. She doesn't have full control over it, which is why she has constant headaches when she shuts everyone's thoughts out.

▻ Amber will form a strong connection with Max very quickly. They will bond over how broken they feel and try to help each other. Eventually, they fill the holes their siblings left behind.

▻ Amber and Hopper aren't very close at first. It's extremely awkward, and they have a hard time relating to each other. But eventually, they form a strong father-daughter bond.
