PLOT

Rhi Wren and Bucky Barnes had been in love for as long as they could remember. It started the day she walked into his high school history class. Bucky was instantly drawn to Rhi's fiery red hair that matched her personality. He made it his mission to win her heart. It didn't take him long to succeed. Rhi could hardly resist his sense of humor and charm, and they quickly fell in love. They waited until after their graduation to get married, barely waiting a month to do so. Their wedding was perfect, especially with their best friend, Steve Rogers, officiating. Rhi and Bucky's love was strong. Nothing could ever get between them. Well, except for the Second World War. Bucky promised Rhi he would return, wanting to start a life with her. No one would've thought a mission with Captain America would force him to break his promise.

Now Rhi was left alone, with a surprise baby on the way.

After losing the love of her life and her best friend, Rhi was left in a distraught state. She closed herself off from the rest of the world, unwilling to let anyone in. But what she didn't know was that isolating gave HYDRA the perfect opportunity to strike. The nefarious organization knew they would have total control of the Winter Soldier if they captured his wife, so they did everything to get her. It was a peaceful night when they struck. They kidnapped Rhi from her home, forcing her and her unborn child into cryosleep. They used her frozen form as a way to persuade the Winter Soldier, who always remembered his wife, no matter what HYDRA did to him. He did anything and everything to keep her safe. Unknown to the Winter Soldier, HYDRA was experimenting on Rhi while she was in cryosleep. They were hoping to turn her into another asset, someone they could use to achieve their goals. Unfortunately for them, she was found by S.H.I.E.L.D. before they could exploit her. Rhi was finally safe and able to reunite with her best friend.

But her heart remained empty.

A year had passed, and Rhi was still getting the hang of living her life again. She had been staying with Steve in his apartment, where they took care of Blair Wren-Barnes. Neither of them had any interest in learning about the new world around them, especially after discovering that Rhi had gained powers during her time with HYDRA. She could barely control her ability to read minds with Steve, and even Blair. She couldn't even begin to imagine how painful it would be to walk through a crowd. But when the world was threatened by the God of Mischief, Rhi and Steve had no choice but to join the Avengers Initiative. Lucky for her, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were good babysitters. What Rhi didn't expect was for one mission to give her a purpose again. Part of her old self was slowly coming back to her. She started to feel happy again. But all that changed the day they were attacked by the Winter Soldier.

Bucky Barnes found his way back to her.

NOTES

▻ Rhi and Bucky had a love at first sight moment when they first met. While Bucky embraced it, Rhi forced it away. But eventually, she gave in and accepted that they were meant to be. They have a very sweet relationship that is always full of positivity. They rarely fight, and when they do, they make up very quickly.

▻ Rhi, Bucky, and Steve are like the Three Musketeers. They are rarely seen apart and always have each other's backs. When Bucky goes off to war, Rhi and Steve rely a lot on each other.

▻ Rhi has the ability to read minds at short distances. Meaning that she can only read the minds of those nearby. She has a hard time controlling it, but eventually masters her power. Especially with Wanda Maximoff helping her in Civil War.

▻ Bucky taught Rhi self-defense before leaving for the war. She's very good at hand-to-hand combat.

▻ I chose Susurrus ( pronounced suh-sur-uhs ) for Rhi's codename because it means "a whispering or rustling sound; a murmur." I felt as though it really captures her abilities since people don't know when she's reading their minds. But feel free to change it.

▻ Blair's full name is Blair March Wren-Barnes. Rhi named her daughter Blair to match the first letter in Bucky's name. March comes from the month Bucky was born. Rhi chose to give Blair both of their last names because she knew Bucky wouldn't want their daughter to be fully named after him.

▻ Because Rhi was pregnant while being experimented on, Blair gained the ability to control people's minds for a short amount of time. She must make physical contact with them before giving them an order. They discovered Blair had this ability after she made Steve bake her cookies.

▻ Rhiannon is pronounced "ree-ah-non." But she has always gone by Rhi, which is pronounced "ree."

▻ You may change Rhi and Blair's powers if you'd prefer for them to have something else.
