PLOT

Liliana Barnes was always known to put other people's needs above her own. It was a great quality, but also a tiresome one. And it all started the day her parents were taken from her. Despite being the younger sibling, Lily took it upon herself to watch out for Bucky. She made sure he had everything he needed to be happy and succeed. It wasn't long before her care grew to include Steve Rogers, who lost his own parents years later. Because Lily knew both of them would be lost without her, like she would be without them. Yet something was still missing.

Lily wanted a purpose in life.

But as usual, she put her wants on hold to make sure Bucky and Steve were taken care of. Lily ensured that all of her brother's paperwork was in order for his enlistment application. He was very excited to help his county. Despite how much it pained her, Lily made sure he succeeded. Now it was just her and Steve until her brother's deployment ended. It wasn't all bad, except for her friend's determination to join Bucky despite his ailments. Lily was with him every time he was rejected, making sure he had a shoulder to cry on.

Little did she know it would lead her to something bigger.

Lily was simply going to the Stark Expo to spend time with Bucky before his next deployment. Nothing there interested her, but her brother was very excited to attend. She never thought her attendance would lead to her meeting Dr. Abraham Erskine. And she definitely never thought their meeting would lead to a job offer.

Now Lily had a very important decision to make.

NOTES

▻ Lily and Nic's relationship will be slowburn. He helps her learn about the new world while she shows him the good things in life. They will start as strangers and want nothing to do with each other. It will slowly turn into a friendship toward the end of Avengers. You can decide when they realize their feelings for each other but it has to be after Avengers. I imagine Lily realizing her feelings first but Nic having stronger emotions at first.

▻ Lily is a very generous person, even after receiving the serum. This makes her constantly put other's needs above her own, which drives Steve and Bucky crazy. Eventually, Nic works with her to put herself first from time to time, but it's hard for Lily to do so.

▻ Lily and Bucky have a very strong sibling bond. It's hard for her to send him off to the war and wishes she could be there with him, which is part of the reason she accepts the serum.

▻ Dr. Erskine wants Lily to be another test subject because he is interested in seeing if the serum affects the female body differently. He also sees something in her that very few people see.

▻ Lily is very hesitant about accepting the serum, mainly because Bucky doesn't want her to. But she ends up deciding to take it to help her country. When Lily is injected with the serum, only Dr. Erskine and Peggy are present.

▻ Lily develops mild depression after losing Bucky. She feels lost without him. Steve does his best to help her cope but knows there's nothing he can do to fill the void Bucky left behind.

▻ Lily is on the plane with Steve when it crashes. She's found the same day as Steve but wakes up a month after him.

▻ Nic and Steve are the two people in the room with Lily wakes up. Steve is there for her to see a familiar face and Nic is there to help subdue her if anything goes wrong.

▻ Nic is considered a loose canon and doesn't follow orders very well. It drives Fury crazy when he doesn't go along with plans. But that only urges Nic to be a free thinker even more.

▻ Nic went through the Red Room with his sister, but his training was very different. He was isolated during his training and rarely saw anyone other than his trainers. Natasha convinced Clint to help her get her brother out of the Red Room. He and Clint slowly develop a brotherly bond throughout the years.

▻ Nic tends to be very cold toward other people, which is an after-effect of the Red Room. Lily is the first person in a very long time to break through his walls.

▻ Nic is the one to find Lily and convince her to join the Avengers.
