( chapter seven )

Ayla sat in English as Mr. B was handing out their test papers. He tapped Ayla in the shoulder and once she lifted her head off the desk, he handed her the paper.

B

Not too bad, she nodded to herself. The blonde girl heard Stiles talking to Scott, "if Derek isn't the Alpha, if he's not the one who bit you, then who did?"

So... Derek's cool? He didn't bite Scott. Ayla's eyebrows furrowed slightly as she strained her ears. "I dunno." Scott shrugged.

"Did the Alpha kill the bus driver?" Stiles asked. Normally, Ayla would tell them to shut up, but she wanted to know the answer.

"I don't know." Scott replied again.

Stiles sighed, leaning back in his seat, frustrated with his friend's lack of answers. He turned his head to the side and saw Ayla looking at him, eyebrows raised. He turned his head back to Scott before leaning forward, "does Allison's dad know about the—"

"I don't know!" Scott raised his voice, getting annoyed. Everyone turned around to stare at the boy who lowered his head slightly.

Ayla sighed in disappointment when she saw Stiles' grade. A. Stupid answering system. "Dude, you need to study more." Stiles said once he saw Scott's grade. D-. The boy slammed his paper face down so no one could see his grade. "That was a joke. Scott, it's one test. You're gonna make it up. Do you want help studying?"

Scott sighed. "No, I'm studying with Allison after school today."

Stiles raised his brows, "that's my boy!"

"We're just studying."

"That's what they all say." Ayla rolled her eyes, bitter about how recently, Celia had been hanging around James more than her. She wasn't jealous.. was she? No, she was happy for her friend.

Stiles pointed at her, still looking at Scott, "uh, no you're not."

"I'm not?" Scott asked, turning around.

"Not if I'm forced to live vicariously through you." Stiles said. "If you go to her house today, and squander that colossal opportunity, I swear to God, I'll have you de-balled."

"He's not a dog—" Ayla stopped herself. "Never mind." Scott glared at her for a moment before turning back to Stiles.

"Okay, just stop with the questions." He said, gently.

"Done." Stiles sat back in his seat. "No more questions. No more talk about the Alpha or Derek. Especially Derek. Who still scares me."

"Thank god." Ayla huffed.

The bell rang, signifying the end of the day and everyone came out of their classrooms. Ayla stepped out of the doors and down the stairs, running into someone as she was too busy picking out a new song. "Move—" she stopped herself at the sight of a hunched over figure. He turned around and she saw his face. "Derek?"

Stiles got into his jeep and pulled out of the parking spot. As he started driving, two figures stepped out into the road and the slammed on the brakes. He started honking, just wanting to get out of school when Scott looked up from his bike. "Not here!" He said to himself, running over.

Derek fell to the ground, almost taking the blonde girl with him. She looked at the driver in the jeep. "Stiles! Get out and do something!"

He sighed, "you're kidding me. These two are everywhere."

Scott ran over arrived as people started staring, and Stiles jumped out of his car. They knelt down with Ayla, looking at the man sitting on the ground, panting weakly. "What are you doing here?" Scott hissed.

"I was shot." He said.

"Shot?" Ayla asked, eyes widening. Don't tell me that he's also a damn werewolf.

"He's not looking so good, dude." Stiles winced.

"Why aren't you healing?" Scott asked him. Definitely a werewolf. Great. Fucking great.

"I can't." He breathed, eyes almost closed. "It was a different kind of bullet."

"A silver bullet?" Stiles asked, eyes wide in anticipation.

Derek glared at him, "no, you idiot."

"Wait." Scott said. "That's what she meant when she said you had 48 hours."

He looked up. "What? Who said 48 hours?"

"The one who shot you."

Great. So there's werewolves and werewolf hunters. Ayla was pulled out of her thought as Derek gasped and his eyes flashed blue. He groaned as horns honked and Scott started freaking out.

"What are you doing?" He demanded. "Stop that!"

"I don't think he can, Scott." Ayla said, looking concerned.

"She's right. That's what I'm trying to tell you." Derek whispered. "I can't."

"Derek," Scott paced a hand on his shoulder. "Get up."

Ayla groaned at all the honking of cars and annoyed and impatient teenagers. "Help me put him in your car." Scott pulled Derek up. Derek sat in the front seat, in pain as the honking continued.

As they conversed Ayla was about to climb into the car as well, when Stiles stopped her. "Uh- what do you think you're doing?"

"Getting in the jeep?" She said.

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes. I partially know Derek and I wanna help. I'm bored." Her voiced raised over the thinking before she turned to the cars behind them. "Alright! Shut the hell up!" She climbed into the back seat as Stiles sighed.

Stiles closed his door and Scott said, "hey, get him out of here."

Stiles sighed, looking at the two in his jeep. "I hate you for this so much." And he drove off.

Fun Fact: Darron pulled some slightly illegal strings and got Ayla her motorbike license when she turned 15 :)

I literally had to rewrite some chapters to make her and Derek fit in 😭 I'm sorry if it makes no sense
