β’WHO: Marine 4, Ranger 3-2 (Transport), S.A.S 22nd D Squadron, 380th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron.
β’WHAT: Infil by Humvee convoy, eliminate rebels on oil field facilities, support SAS defusal experts and firefighting specialists, exfil by Humvee convoy.
β’WHEN: Immediately.
3rd Person POV.
The Humvee convoy was aproaching the oil field with Marine 4 team, whom were the ones carrying this operation on their shoulders. The fires and columns of smoke were everywhere and could be seen in the distance, getting closer and closer. They didn't have much time before it started raining oil.
Marine 4-3: "Man, this is no man's land..."
-The third member of the Marine team said, witnessing the eternal desert turning black before the comander spoke on the radio.
Commander: "Marine 4, Command. What's your status?"
-The commander asked the Marine, who was manning the top-mounted M2HB .50 Caliber turret on the Humvee. It was pointed upwards so he wouldn'r flag any of the other Humvee's and APC's.
Mike: "Command, our convoy is inbound to objective Alpha. Do we have any more intel about the target?"
Commander: "Not much, team 4. We have some reports saying that the rebels are holding up around the wellheads. They're planting charges in case NATO Forces get to close. They already started a few fires to show how serious they are. Get in there quick and retake those wellheads."
-The commander spoke on a serious tone as he informed the Marines, whom were already approaching the wellheads. Several structures and pipes could be seen on the terrain, alongside burning vehicles and a couple of human figures in the distance.
Mike: "Copy command, can you give us a sit-rep?"
Commander: "These rebels are desperate, team 4. They'll blow up those wellheads before they give 'em up. That's why you're linking with elements from the S.A.S 22nd D Squadron already in position. They can help you repel the rebels long enough for the firefighters to arrive and extinguish all the fires."
Mike: "Roger that command, We'll check it once we link up with the S.A.S. 4-2 out."
-He said just before the Humvee convoy leader, Ranger 3-2, radioed all units to check their comms before they stepped into the fight.
3-2 driver: "Convoy 3-2 to all units, all units report in."
-The driver said as all the drivers responded. Michael was the gunner of the lead Humvee, meaning that he was in the middle of the star formation the convoy had.
Five Humvee's were leading the convoy, the one with Marine 4's Leader was the first one. Michael's Humvee was a couple of meters behind, also being between the other two Humvee's, which had two APC's following close behind. And finally, between those APC's was the last Humvee.
3-3 driver: "3-3, standing by."
-The Humvee driver said, being the one having the leader of the Marine 4 team as their gunner, which was leading the way.
3-4 driver: "3-4, standing by."
-The driver of one of the APC's reported.
3-5 driver: "3-5, standing by."
-This driver was having the third member of the Marine team as their gunner and was also the one in front of Ranger 3-4 and at Ranger 3-2's left.
3-6 driver: "3-6, standing by."
-This Humvee had the fourth member of the Marine team as their gunner. This one was located at Ranger 3-2's right, with the second APC following.
3-7 driver: "3-7, standing by."
-And finally, the last APC reported. These APC's were meant to transport the rest of the Marine 4 Team, which were supposed to assist during the mission.
3-8 driver: "3-8, standing by."
-The last driver said the convoy was aproaching the oil field. This Humvee was located between both APC's and was meant to protect the rear.
3-2 co-pilot: "4-2, you're back with us?"
-The co-pilot of the Leader's transport jokingly asked Michael through the radio, despite both of them being in the same vehicle, whom was a friend of his, known for being a joker.
Mike: "Roger that 3-2, just like old times..."
-The Marine responded with a grin on his face as he looked down at the Co-pilot.
3-2 driver: "Copy 4-2, good to have you with us today."
Mike: "Much obligued, 3-2."
-He replied with an exagerated formal tone, as if he was being a noble from the 1700's, releasing a chuckle at his own joke.
3-2 driver: "All units be advised, we're aproaching objective Alpha. Be prepared for incoming technicals."
-The driver said as the Marine team cocked the Humvee's turrets, getting ready for the fight that was about to come.
Marine 4-1: "Heads up! They're picking targets up ahead!"
-Marine 4's Team leader warned the other Marines as the convoy reached the objective, now being surrounded by Iraqui forces and moving armored vehicles.
*BRAKKA-BRAKKA-BRAKKA!*
Mike: "Roger 4-1, engaging targets!"
-The Marine shouted him and the other gunners opened fire towards the enemies after they began to take small-arms fire, whom were hiding on either small towers or destroyed vehicules scattered around the terrain. Half of the enemies were carrying RPGs.
*UDDABUDDABUDDA!!!*
Mike: "Let's go, Goddamn it! Let's go!"
-4-2 shouted as he fired a couple of rounds on a flamable barrel causing it to explode, buring the structure where it was located, anyone around it, resulting in multiple kills.
*BOOM!*
Marine 4-4: "Woohooo! Now that's an explosion!"
-The fourth gunner shouted as he saw the explosion, being the one closer to it, which gave him a shot of adrenaline. Not everyone witnesses an explosion at such close distances on a moving military truck.
3-2 co-pilot: "Snipers on the towers! Right side!"
-Michael's friend shouted as he spotted some snipers in some towers. Seconds later, the Marine fired the 50. Caliber turret at the snipers, hitting them hard and eventually killing both of the snipers.
*UDDABUDDABUDDA!*
Marine 4-3: "That was some fancy shootin', Michael!"
Mike: "Thanks!"
3-6 driver: "Incoming VBLs! Left side!"
-The driver shouted as Marine 4-3 engaged the target, killing the gunner and eventually the driver. Then he shot the vehicle's engine and destroying it, making the VBL completely useless.
3-5 co-pilot: "More hostiles to the right!" -the co-pilot reported as the enemy was engaging them, but... Something went wrong.- "RPG! RPG!"
-The co-pilot shouted after he spotted a hidden enemy with an RPG ready to fire at them. This didn't go unnoticed, but the convoy needed to do a left turn so they could arrive to the next objective.
This caused that the soldier with the RPG fired his weapon as soon as they did that. The rocket went between Ranger 3-2 and Ranger 3-6 and hitting Ranger 3-2.
*BOOM!*
After that, it was clear that no one survived the explosion. But the convoy didn't have time to stop or they would have way to many bullets on them to try and save their corpses. So Ranger 3-8 went around the destroyed vehicle, continueing on mission. 3-3 decding to take the lead since 3-2 was down permanently along with everyone inside the Humvee...
Except for one.

Ayo, Marines! It's me again, remaking another book!
Yeah yeah, I know I said I would be focusing on The Deadkiller, but since I'm seeing that my older (and kinda cringy) books are getting more attention, I decided to remake them in my newer style and wait for The Deadkiller to get some attention on it's own.
Spec-ops in Remnant is also another book I'm gonna remake, but I'll start with The Marine since it's shorter and easier to finish.
Anyways! I hope you guys enjoyed this new prologue! And as always, have a nice day!
