SUNDAY NIGHTS AT FAMILY VIDEO, was always the slowest day due to the fact that the weekend is officially over and that Monday starts a whole new week or as kids like to call it 'The School Week'. Roselyn didn't normally work Sundays but due to the fact that her mother wouldn't stop bothering her since she called this morning. So she decided to ask the manager if she can cover someones shift.
That someones shift was some random worker who barley even comes to work as it is. So right now it was only herself, Hayden and Eddie closing. Which is how she found herself stacking the romance movies onto the new shelves.
"You know normally people will go out when they are off and not come in to work a closing shift" Roselyn heard Hayden call over from her spot behind the counter. Roselyn looked away from the shelf and towards Hayden who was saying bye to the family who purchased a horror movie for their annual family movie night.
"I told you. My mom wouldn't leave me alone so I had to get out of the house because of her calling my house phone when I wouldn't even answer my cellphone plus to be fair you and Eddie are the only friends I have in this stupid town" Roslyn told Hayden as she placed the old romance movies on the counter for Eddie to take.
"Your mom is still bugging you about you wanting to leave this fucked up town" Hayden questioned as sheย watched Roselyn walk behind the counter. "Yup and before you ask I don't know why she cares so much, she barley even gave me enough attention when I was kid."
"You guys don't even live together anymore and now she wants to be a mom all because you want to leave" Hayden told Roselyn who wasn't paying any mind to the conversation any more as she heard the doorbell from the entrance ring out.
"I'll be right back" Roselyn mentioned to Hayden as she saw who the person was that entered. Before Hayden can muttered out a single word, Roselyn was already walking towards the person who stationed themself at the Horror section.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Roselyn spatted out as the figure turned towards her. "Is that any way to greet your cousin?"
Vince Schneider, her cousin. Well she doesn't necessarily think of him as her cousin since she doesn't like to associate herself with her fathers side of the family.
Roselyn crossed her arms over her chest before giving Vince a glare that nobody should ever receive from the Macher girl. She gave the glare once to Eddie and he stated that he felt she was preparing to murder him. In his defense, he should learn to stay out of other peoples business sometimes but she knows that is his way of making sure no one is giving her a hard time.
"Look, I suggest you hurry up with deciding what movie you are going to get and get the hell out of here plus I also suggest you don't piss me off" Roselyn spatted out but Vince wasn't phased with how she was acting.
"Oh yea and what are you going to do if I don't? You going to kill me like how Uncle Stu, your father killed those teenagers" Hearing Vince say those words towards her used to always get a reaction out of her but after hearing him say that all the time as his comeback just didn't phase her anymore. Not how it used too.
From the other side of the store, Hayden watched the interaction between the two cousins go and she can tell it wasn't going as good. It never does with those two. Hayden walked away from the counter after making sure no customers were coming up and walked right into the back room where she found Eddie sorting through old horror movie disks.
"SOS! You know who just entered and let's just say Roselyn is not happy" Hayden announced as she watched Eddie place the movie disk back into the pile.
"What the hell is he even doing here? All week he has just been bothering her?" Eddie didn't like Vince. He found Vince to be very ignorant. The way he has seen him treat Roselyn made his blood boil. It shows the Vince never cared for his cousin. According to Roselyn when they were younger her and Vince were like best friends until one day he just stopped associating himself with her.
"I don't even know. All I do know is now is your time to be her knight in shining armor. So get out there before we have to break up a family fight because let me just say, Roselyn has her 'I'm going to kill you' glare on her face and we all know that is never good" the minute Eddie heard Hayden say that he was already out of his seat.
Hayden smiled as she watched Eddie speed walk through the aisle trying to get to Roselyn. "That boy is wrapped around her little finger and she doesn't even know it" she muttered out as she walked back to the counter.
The phone that was placed on the wall start to ring which startled Hayden a little bit. "Since when has anyone called us from this phone" she muttered out as she answered the phone.
"Hello?" The voice on the other line didn't respond as quick as Hayden will like so as she was about to hang up she heard them respond. "Hello. Who is this?"
"This is Family Video. How can we help you" Hayden stated as she leaned herself back on the wall already bored of this conversation. "I'm sorry, my apologies I clearly knew I called this store. I was just wondering is Roselyn around?"
Hayden perked up at the mention of her best friend. "Well that depends. Who is this and why you want to talk to her?"
She heard the person on the other line muffled something out but she couldn't quite understand what they were saying until they spoke a little clearly.
"I'm just a friend of Roselyn" The voice told the young girl. "Oh a friend of Roselyn. Interesting, how did you guys meet?" Hayden questioned as she felt something was a little off about this person on the other line.
"We met through a mutual friend. Maybe you know her, Tara Carpenter " Hayden slightly hummed giving the person on the other side of the phone the confirmation that she somewhat believes them.
"Okay, I'll go get her" Hayden placed the call on hold as she walked to where Roselyn was. "Roselyn, you have a phone call"
Roselyn looked over at Hayden after scolding Eddie for barging into a conversation that didn't involve him once again. "Please don't tell me it's my mother"
Hayden shook her head. "Nope so you are in the clear. Supposedly it's a friend of yours that you met through Tara"
"A friend? I haven't met anyone through Tara?" Roselyn confusedly stated as she walked away from Hayden and Eddie not noticing the curious glances those two was sending each other.
"Hello, Roselyn speaking" Roselyn spoke into the phone after taken the caller of hold. "Well hello Roselyn"
For some reason the voice gave Roselyn a very uncomfortable vibe that she was this close to hanging up the phone. "Who is this?"
The voice just let out at a laugh and her question which made her feel ten times more uncomfortable. "Look I don't know who you are or what you want but if you don't have anything to say than I am hanging up so have a goodnight you little creep"
Roselyn was about to hang up the phone until she heard what they said that made her feel a little spooked.
"Would you like to play a game...Roselyn Macher?" We know Tara did and let's just say her game didn't end so well"
Tara? Is she hurt, is she okay? was the only thing running through Roselyn's mind. She didn't even think twice about hanging up the phone, she knows whoever is on the other side of the phone will be mad but she didn't care all that she cared about right now is if Tara was okay.
Tara just had to be okay because Roselyn wouldn't know what to do if she wasn't.
