Thirty-five

Day XI of the internship; 22nd October:

Current time: 9.30 am

Adalyn came in her room and went inside the washroom. There was a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach, but she couldn't point her finger about what it was. It wasn't sickness like she wants to puke. It was more of a different emotional feeling.

After ten minutes she came out of the washroom and sat down on the bed, still feeling uncomfortable.

"Adalyn you alright? You look pale." Coco asked worriedly.

"No I'm not feeling fine." Adalyn said.

"Oh god, what happened? Do you feel like throwing up?" Coco asked as she quickly sat down next to Adalyn.

"No, it isn't sickness. I feel... emotionally hurt." She said.

"Is there anything you want to talk about? You know, you have been acting a little different since the morning. There were pancakes, and you didn't eat those. You kept to yourself."

"I don't know why am I feeling like this."

"Is it because of Ruel?" Coco asked slowly.

"Maybe. I don't know. We both haven't had the time to talk about what we are going to do. Maybe it is only why I am feeling like this."

"Just lay down and rest for some time." Adalyn took off her shoes and lied under the duvets.

Knock knock

At the door knocking, Adalyn began to make her way out of the bed but Coco stopped her.

"No don't get up! I'll see." She made her lay down again and went to open the door.

"Huh?" Coco said with her nose scrunched up, when she saw Ruel behind the door.

"I'm Ruel, your younger brother. Was born when you were 2. You've tormented me since 29th October, 2002." Ruel said with an eye roll.

"I know who you are you dumbhead. I was just shocked to see you." Coco retorted.

"Let me come in now." Ruel said.

"What if I don't?" Coco sassed as she stood in front of him, blocking his way. He simply scoffed and pushed her to the side and walked to Adalyn, leaving Coco behind with an enraged expression.

"Hey Adalyn you alright now?" He asked as he sat down on the couch next to the bed. Ruel saw that Adalyn was behaving weirdly, so he came to check up on her.

"No, I'm not feeling fine. I don't why. I'm not sick though."

"Coco, please leave. I want to talk to Adalyn." Ruel said to Coco. She walked out and closed the door behind her.

"You want to talk?" Adalyn asked as she began to sit.

"Oh don't sit if it makes you uncomfortable." Adalyn slumped back under the duvets. "And yes, I want to talk. If you aren't sick, then it must be some sort of emotional feeling, right?"

Adalyn's eyes began to widen.

"Do me and Ruel have telepathy or something?" She said to herself.

"Yes, yes that's exactly what's happening." She said out loud.

"I know you're probably upset about everything that's happening between the both of us. I was upset too yesterday. But my mum comforted me and now I'm better." He said.

"I don't know." She sighed. "I really like you, and I didn't know that not being able to date you would become so hard."

When she mentioned about how she likes him, his cheeks began to heat up, but he brushed it off.

"I felt the same. I was so upset yesterday that I cried my eyes out. But mum was there for me. You know what she said? She said that she loves the both of us together. And she's sad that we both can't we together. But she said that it's better if we date in the future as if we do it right now, then everyone will intrude. But in the future we can do it, without interruptions, just you and me." He said softly as he held her hand in his own and intertwined her fingers with his own. She smiled softly as he caressed his thumb over the back of her hand.

They both stayed in silence, just enjoying each other's company, while constantly trying to not let the pink tint be visible on their faces.

"Thanks I feel better now." Adalyn said, breaking the silence.

"I apologize you had to-"

"No, don't apologize. Please. You don't have anything to apologize for." He simply nodded at these words.

"Are you coming to Sydney? I mean, you know, if you come then we both can-"

"Yes I am! God I forgot to tell you and Coco. Last night when Coco had gone to sleep, I FaceTime-d my mum. I told her about it. She really wants me to apply for it. And so does Lorelai. I'm coming to Sydney Ruel!" Adalyn exclaimed.

"Oh my god yes!" Ruel got up from the armchair and bent down to hug Adalyn. She hugged him back. He pulled away and gave her a kiss on her cheek.

"I can't wait." He said before walking out of the room, leaving Adalyn blushing like crazy.

Current time: 5.00 pm

"I can't believe it!"

"What happened Co?"

"3 days! Only 3 days are left of your internship and after that you'll be going back to Adelaide. Noooo!" Coco groaned.

"It's alright and you know why? Yesterday I FaceTime-d mum. She says that I should actually enroll myself for the Fine Arts College in Sydney! And Lorelai also said she will love to go to this college. Apparently she did some research about it, and it's really amazing." Adalyn explained.

"Wow really?!" Coco exclaimed as she tackled Adalyn into a hug.

"Yes it's sure." Adalyn smiled as she hugged her back.

"Now you will be able to date Ruel." Coco smirked as she wiggled her eyebrows. At this heat began to rush to Adalyn's face as her cheeks bore a light pink blush.

"And then you'll become my sister-in-law!" Coco screamed in a sing-song way. The pink color on Adalyn's cheeks became darker and darker.

"Oooh you're blushing!" Coco sang again, which made the pink even darker.

Fortunately for Adalyn, her phone buzzed with a notification which changed the subject of their conversation and the atmosphere in their room. She opened it up to see a text from Michelle.

Michelle

Adalyn, come down with Coco.
We all are going to go to the carnival now.

Okay, we'll be there.

"Coco let's go down now. We have to go to the carnival." Adalyn said as she got up from the bed and wore her socks and black converse.

"Okay." Coco said as she did the same as Adalyn. They both put on their jackets and cardigans and picked up their phones and Adalyn picked up her camera and went outside; locking the door of their room.

"There they are!" They both heard someone exclaim as they turned the corner to enter the large reception of the hotel. They saw that it was Chelsea.

"Come on quick girls!" She said further as everyone walked out of the hotel to their van. Kate stayed behind to wait for Coco and Adalyn.

"Adalyn is everything alright?" She asked.

"Yes. I'm fine now. I'll be coming to Sydney for my higher studies!" Adalyn smiled.

"Oh that's great!" Kate said as she hugged her.

"Yes I'm so excited." Adalyn said as she walked ahead to tell Michelle the news, leaving Kate and Coco behind.

"You'll be getting an amazing daughter-in-law mum." Coco smirked as she nudged Kate's arm with her elbow.

"And you an amazing sister-in-law." Kate said as she nudged Coco back, which made her let out a laugh.

They both quickly caught up with others and sat down in the van. Ruel blasted music, and everyone danced and had fun.

"Okay okay wait wait!" Michelle yelled over the music. Ruel paused the song.

"I have some news." She said.

"What?" Beau asked.

"For her higher studies, Adalyn and her best friend will be coming to the Fine Arts College of Sydney!!" She exclaimed.

"What?!" Beau said with over excitement as he gave Adalyn a small hug.

"Yup, me and Lorelai will be coming to Sydney!" She exclaimed as everyone cheered in the van.

"I can't wait for it, there is so much I have to show you." Coco smiled.

"I can't wait either." Adalyn smiled back.

"We're here!" Nate said as the van stopped. They looked out of the window to see so many people walking in and out of the carnival. The large ferris wheel was visible as it turned over and over and the roller coaster whizzing around the ground gave everyone chills.

"Come on let's goooooo!" Coco screamed as she took Adalyn by her arm and led her in.

"Where do you wanna go first?" Adalyn asked.

"Roller coaster!" Coco shouted as she pulled Adalyn to the long line of people waiting to go on the thrilling ride just like them.

"It's my favorite ride." Adalyn said.

"Same." Coco said.

"Mine too." They heard someone speak. They turned around to see a 6'5 boy everyone calls Ruel.

"You again?" Coco scoffed.

"I'm your brother. Show some respect." He said.

"Oh shut up." Coco said before turning to look forward.

He turned his gaze to her, and gave her a small smile. She acknowledged it and gave one back, before turning to look ahead again.

The ferris wheel, in all of its magnificence looked beautiful. She couldn't resist herself. She removed the cover off the lens and brought the view finder up to her eyes. Shifting her camera to the desired angle made her feel contented, and the output even more.

"Show." Coco simply said. They both understood each other. It was only 12 days, but these 12 days of spending together made the both of them understand each other very well.

She handed her camera to the beautiful blonde, who was now aware of few of the controls of the complicated DSLR, thanks to the wondrous photographer standing next to her.

"Wow. Just wow." Coco gasped, making Adalyn smile.

"I love you Co." She said as she hugged her.

"I love you too." Coco replied, hugging her back. She then turned back to face Ruel. "Hurt her, and I'll kill you." She glared at him.

"Nah, I love her too much that I'll hurt her." He replied. Coco and Adalyn stared at him. Coco began to smirk and Adalyn began to blush. It took him two seconds to realise about what he just said.

"I mean- you know- I really- um- yeah you-" He began to blush himself as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

"You love her you love her you really really love her!" Coco screamed in a sing-song way. A few people began looking at them with weird looks.

"Shut up Coco." Ruel said in a cautious way, as his cheeks along with Adalyn's burned bright red.

"Hey look the line is moving. It's our turn now move it along Coco!" Adalyn exclaimed, trying to change the subject.

"Oh." Coco said as she ran to sit in the roller coaster. Adalyn sat with her and Ruel behind them.

"Don't think I forgot young lady." Coco whispered in Adalyn's ear. Adalyn tried to give her a stern look but miserably failed; she began laughing. The roller coaster began to move as creaky voices were produced. Within seconds, the ride was moving at full-on speed, everyone on the ride screaming and shouting in exhilaration.

It came to an end soon and everyone got off the ride.

"That was amazing!" Coco screamed as she got off the ride.

"So much fun." Adalyn said.

"I was scared as hell." Ruel said. "But I enjoyed it."

"What next?" Coco asked.

"The ferris wheel?" Ruel asked.

"Yup let's go."

"Where are the others?" Adalyn asked.

"Oh they are on the other side of the carnival, probably filling their stomachs with deep fried food." Ruel explained.

"Come on guys the line for the ferris wheel isn't that long let's go!" Coco said as she took both of them by their hands and led them to the line.

Within minutes a passenger car came down and Adalyn and Ruel sat in it. Coco was about to sit with them but the guard stopped her.

"You can't sit in." He said.

"Why not?" Coco asked, clearly irritated.

"Only two people per passenger car." He said.

"But-"

The guard closed the door to Ruel and Adalyn's passenger car. Ruel stuck his tongue out at Coco which made her look at him with an angry expression. The ride began to move.

"Can I sit in the next one?" Coco asked the guard.

"All the cars are filled. You'll have to wait until everyone gets off the ride."

"But what-"

"Sorry." He said. Coco angrily stomped off to find the rest of the team.
