In Adelaide; on 30th September, the day of the result:

Ring ring

The alarm rang, signaling it's 7.00 am. But it got dismissed just after two rings. Adalyn, who was extremely excited about today, couldn't sleep, so here we are, getting up before the alarm can ring.

She quickly went in the washroom and did her daily morning routine: brushing her teeth, washing her face and the other skin care routine. She brushed her long black hair and put them in a pretty braid with beautiful accessories. She changed her clothes, wearing her usual comforting clothes.

She went downstairs to be greeted with her mum who had the same enthusiasm as her daughter.

"Aaah Addie are you excited? Michelle will announce the result today!" Laura screamed out loud, not caring if the neighbors come knocking down at their door, complaining about all of the noise.

"Yes mum sooo excited!" Adalyn screamed happily.

"So there you go, with your usual pancakes with extra maple syrup." Laura said while handing Adalyn her breakfast.

"Thanks mum."

Laura sat down with her as both of them chatted about how excited they are. Adalyn even told her mum about Ruel and apparently she really likes his music now. After their chitchat, Adalyn went out with her usual stuff: school bag with her camera in it, phone and house keys.

"Bye mum!" Adalyn yelled out before walking out the door.

"Bye Addie! Text me the result as soon as it comes." Laura yelled back.

"Okay."

Adalyn went out, feeling extremely enthusiastic. She walked over to Lorelai's house with a skip in her step and a hum of her favorite song on her lips. As she reached Lorelai's house's door, it opened up before she could ring the bell.

"Omg Addie I am so excited! It's in the bag for you!" Lorelai screamed out.

"I hope it is, don't jinx it." Adalyn replied sternly.

"Right, wouldn't want you to lose the opportunity of your lifetime." Lorelai replied with some of her excitement cooled off.

"Okay mum I'm going to school bye!" Lorelai yelled out from the door.

"Okay Lori be safe." Jennifer said as she came out. "Oh and Adalyn I am really very excited for it. I hope you win." She smiled.

"Thanks Ms. Dawson." Adalyn smiled back.

Adalyn and Lorelai walked over to their school, both of them buzzing with excitement. Lorelai kept on talking about how wondrous it will be if Adalyn wins and Adalyn kept on begging her to not jinx it with her over excitement.

"So, your phone's on vibrate right? You have to check it as soon as it vibrates." Lorelai said sternly.

"Yeah yeah it's on vibrate." Adalyn replied back, who is honestly tired of Lorelai's excitement.

"Where is the result being announced anyway?" Lorelai questioned.

"It will be up on Michelle's website along with on her Instagram."

"Oh okay. I'll keep my phone on vibrate too. Since even I have a subscription to her website and I follow her on Instagram, I'll be alerted about it too, just in case you miss it. We don't have many classes together today, so just as soon as one gets alerted, she will inform the other."

Lorelai was literally the definition of a best friend for Adalyn. Even though she was a little wild, Adalyn loved her a lot. She was there with her every step of her life and she doesn't intend to stop. When Jacob, Adalyn's father, passed away, Adalyn used to be sad all the time. Lorelai took it on herself to keep her second sister happy. She wouldn't let Adalyn get distracted by her father's loss; she'd keep her laughing all the time.

Laura and Jennifer are like best friends too. Laura went through depression after Jacob's death, so Jennifer helped Laura to cope up with it. Their families were really close; even Tim, Lorelai's father, remained sad after his death. When the Dawsons' had shifted to Adelaide, Tim and Jacob became business partners and on the other hand Adalyn and Lorelai became the bestest of friends. This sparked the strong friendship between their families.

"Wait I have a question." Lorelai stopped suddenly between her tracks.

"Yeah?" Adalyn encouraged her to speak.

"So, lets suppose you win. How are you supposed to contact them further? Like how are you supposed to discuss about your internship?"

"Well, Michelle's email id is available at her site, so emailing her is one way, but DMs are also accepted."

"Oh okay."

With that, Adalyn and Lorelai reached school. They went to their lockers; their lockers were adjacent to each other. After keeping in their books and pulling out the required ones, they walked to their separate classes. They weren't supposed to meet until lunch.

Adalyn's in Maths, Lorelai's in English.

Lunch time
Lorelai came running into the Lunch Hall, as she got stuck having a conversation with her Geography teacher. Their conversation cut into her lunch time, which made her furious. She quickly ran in the hall, her eyes scanning for a long black haired girl, but she was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly her eyes met with a familiar face, who was jumping at her position in the queue and flailing her arms crazily so as to make her notice. Lorelai laughed to herself at how crazy Adalyn looked as she jogged up to her. Lorelai joined the line by standing in front of Adalyn.

"Hey hey! No cutsies!" An all too familiar high pitched irritating voice came.

"What April?" Adalyn huffed out, as she turned around to see April standing behind them with her minions.

"Lashondra cut in the line, which is absolutely unacceptable." April let out.

"Number one, it's not Lashondra," Adalyn said, mimicking April when she said Lashondra, "it's Lorelai."

"Whatever." April said with an eye roll, as her minions mimicked her.

"Number two, she can cut in. There is literally no rule in our cafeteria about that. Besides, your minions always let you cut in front of them. So, you aren't following your own rules, how can you say anything to us? Right Lori?" Adalyn said, while turning around to see Lorelai to get her company. But Lorelai wasn't listening at all. Instead she was staring at her phone's screen.

"Lori?" Adalyn asked, as she walked up to her, completely forgetting about April.

"Lori what happ-"

"YOU WON!! YOU FREAKING WON! YOU ARE MICHELLE'S INTERN AND YOU ARE GOING TO LONDON!" Lorelai screamed out. Everyone started staring at the both of them, but they didn't care.

"OMG I WON!!!" Adalyn screamed just like Lorelai as they hugged each other and danced at their positions.

Everyone shot them looks of disgust but they were so happy they didn't give a damn to what others were thinking.

Adalyn and Lorelai made their way back to the line and as the line moved forward they kept on loading their plate. After getting their plates filled fully, they walked to their usual table and sat down, completely hyper about what happened in the past few minutes.

"Where did you see it?" Adalyn inquired.

"You were busy fighting with April when I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it out to see two notifications: one from the website and one from Instagram. They both said the same thing, Adalyn is the winner!!" Lorelai yelled.

Adalyn pulled out her phone and she also had two notifications. She first accessed the website, where it was written:

Congratulations Adalyn Mia Henderson, the winner of the photography contest!!

Below this her contest entry was visible.

Then, she accessed Instagram.

"Omg I can't believe it! This is all so surreal!!" Adalyn let out, not able to wipe the smile off her face.

"See, I knew you would win." Lorelai said with a sassy hair flip.

"Yeah yeah. Thanks by the way. You took me to that beautiful place." Adalyn said with a soft smile.

"Oh that's no problem. You're my sister." Lorelai said. "So, mail them. DM them. What are you waiting for?"

"Lunch time is about to be over. Then we have three classes. I'll contact them when I reach home."

"Okay. But don't forget."

"Lori, how can I forget something big as this?"
