Amanda Seyfried as Cove // Mako Mermaids. Season One through Three. Zac Blakely as Love Interest. Plot Available.

She wished upon every star above the glistening water she swam through every night, just to look up to the night sky. The moon and the stars were her guide, but she couldn't resist the taste the sun gave her. So warm, so filled with light and beauty. She wish she could see it from the sands along her home.

Cove was curious, naive to the idea of love and the acts of being human. Swimming too close to the coast, times where she had nearly been spotted, she couldn't resist it. She ran her fingers along the sides of the boats she had dreamed of going on and sailing. The blended fruits that made up the drinks of a popular cafe with the most interesting people— what did they taste like?

"Land-people" had it all, it seemed.

Cove grew up in a tight family, her pod, containing the most beautiful mermaids of the Australian coast. Her sisters, Sirena and Aquata, were her best friends. They were her anchor that held her to reality— they were mermaids, and even the thought of going on land was not allowed. No one had spoken upon it, let alone done it. It was forbidden— if you dared to risk your life in the sea for land, you'd be banished before you could decide. It was a tale that ran through their mouths like it was a sea storm to be terrified of. Only few had done it, but their names never to be said again.

She'd never give up her pearls and found seashells she'd knitted into jewelry. Her twin sister, Sirena— they'd never give up floating side by side with only their pinkies interlocked. Secrets and guidance shared, the two blondes were so beautiful and radiated light in their own ways, just as the sun and stars Cove admired so dearly. If Cove had a choice, she'd gather everything she loved and hide away in her favorite cave and never dare face anything remotely as scary . . .

But she was young, naive, driven with passion of happiness and daydreams. She practically had to bite her tongue and glue her mouth shut to hold back voicing her mind.

The sun had fallen into night, and she faced that boundary she cared for so deeply. Another life, another world it was, and she wanted every taste of it she could get. But she was scared— so Cove hid away in the waters near the edge of the other side, watching and waiting. Taking mental pictures, she'd tuck them away into her frequent daydreams. Near the docks, a smaller, shorter boat had resided empty. Cove looked around, no one in sight, took a deep breath, and leapt onto the boat.

She layed on her back, staring up at the moon and stars she loved— she finally saw them from a different view. Barely rocking, back against the wet wood, balancing her. She couldn't resist feeling everything she could reach. Cove sprawled her arms out and moved them as if she were in the water. The bottom of her tail fluttering the water at the edge of the boat.

That's when she felt it.

Something hidden away under some tarp and cloth, under a seat. It had edges, like her knuckle tapped against something hard. Cove looked, and grabbed the item— a book. Something only her eyes had layed on, never touched by her own hands. Something from this other world— something human.

Everything she had dreamt of, day and night, rested in her hands. It was only when she heard voices approaching her from down the dock, she slipped back into the water, book in hand, and swiftly swam to her favorite cave where no one could interrupt her.

A journal— diary. She read every word. The words in pen smeared to where she could barely see the initiated words, but she knew. Expressions of love and feelings she'd never knew existed. Her heart churned and twisted in the best ways possible, so tightly clenched, Cove released tears from under the water. So sobbed with every word she read.

Oh, how Cove wished to become one with love. One with a human on land— something she couldn't have within her pod, her home.

It was only when a boy fell into her pods beloved moon pool, that Cove realized that maybe her dreams could become a reality.

Her, Sirena, and two others from their pod would be assigned to finding the boy and reversing what had happened to him, as he became a merman. The tales of evil mermen ran through all their minds when realization hit, they were in danger and their existence could be exposed. They had to either return the boys powers, or harm him in ways that could only protect them in the end.

But Cove couldn't.

She looked at him. His curly brown hair, chocolate eyes, and strong shoulders. He was beautiful . . . Everything she had thought would be perfect— there he was.

And little would Cove know, she would spend years on land, finding a home away from home, in the arms of found family— where she'd feel love in different forms. A boy who had never seen anyone as beautiful as her, friends from different walks of life's and reality, a teacher and caretaker she would see was so similar to her in so many ways— and how she'd understand the difficulty of falling in love with a "land boy."
