I laid in bed looking at the ceiling.
School.
Home.
Race.
This is a normal day for me, from the suburbs of Miami to the slums of the city; but I like it that way and the way things are It'll never change.
After this weekend, which I prayed would fly by, I would only have two days left of school. Therefore, my summer break as a senior would begin and I will finally be out of here.
I'm tired of this lifestyle my mom wants me to obtain. I can break up with the "boyfriend" my parents set me up with and throw away this bullshit-ass agenda they want me to uphold.
Marry a rich man, become a housewife, and have two kids.
Other than me and my mom arguing over the simple fact that I know her husband, Derrick, isn't my father; this is what we're constantly at war about. My life that I was supposed to live not her.
I live my life like I'll die when the world ends, I want to make myself happy and for 18 years I have only been making her happy.
These rich people are sickening. Always worried about the next man and that's just how it is the fake people have an image to maintain.
The real people, we just don't give a fuck.
My mom is one of the fakest people you'll ever meet, especially her husband. It bothers me knowing my mom spouted from the east side of Miami, and acts as if she's been Bill Gates rich all her life. My mom's mom, my Avรณ, was an immigrant of Brazil and her parents were immigrants of South Africa and Colombia.
The difference between the suburbs and the hood is it may be survival of the fittest but your peoples always got your back.
But since I was about 9 years old, I couldn't recollect anything before living in Miami.
All I know about myself is my mothers a pathological liar, a damn bad one at that, and that I was born in Los Angeles and my real last name is not Dyer.
My mom wanted my Avรณ to come and live with us in North Bay, but no my grandma stayed with the vatoes in the hood. They respect my Avรณ and she does all she can for them, and that's how I met my girl, Suki.
Her parents were Japanese immigrants and my grandma took them in and helped them get on their feet, years back.
And Suki is how I met my bro Tej; Tej is like my big brother I never had and Suki is more than a sister than my half-sister, Clara.
Clara is a puppet. And I feel the reason she acts the way she does toward me is because I have always been a magnet; people think I'm a mystery and they always attract themselves to me.
Which I didn't get because me and her want to do different things in life, she wants social status and I want drive.
I want to wake up next to the man of my dreams, I want to be fully consumed by someone; I want to be so attracted to someone we can't even function in a room together without being sexually frustrated.
I sighed at my ongoing thoughts before looking over at my clock that read 6:45am.
Doing nothing more I rolled out of bed, going into my bathroom, swiftly turning on the hot water and pinning up my hair.
Another 7 and a half miserable hours just for a few more days.
I dried off and put on an all-white outfit with my Concord 11's, tying my hair into a high ponytail and doing my edges.
Something light but tonight like every night was when I really got swagged out.
I then snatched my book bag off of a chair then grabbed my purse containing my keys and prayed I wouldn't run into my family as I made my way from my room to the front door.
I guess God has a sense of humor.
"Hey, baby!" My mom called out as I walked past the kitchen
I turned and walked into the dining room and her expression fell.
"Baby, what are you wearing?"
"My clothes"
She rolled her eyes and nagged "Why don't you dress like Clara? You look like a little boy especially with all those tattoos I told you not to get."
"Never in a million years. I gotta bounce." I walked briskly out of the house escaping her successfully and got in my American classic.
My '66 Corvette Stingray, a natural-born beauty. I started up the engine making it roar like an angry lion and smiled, this is one of the things I cherished most because I didn't take Mommy's money to get it. I brought it myself.
It didn't take me any longer than 5 minutes before I pulled up at school slightly angry I had to be here. I knew about six other places that would've brung me more peace and all of it consisted with racing or being with my real friends.
I pulled in my parking spot seeing David around all his jock buddy's and cringed at the sight alone.
I slowly got out of the car causing he threw his arms around me and I smiled awkwardly as he cooed "Hey baby girl."
"Wassup?" I responded
He kissed my cheek and tried to move to my mouth making me back up with a disgusted face.
"I do not know where your mouth has been" I concluded
He rolled his eyes and groaned "Sooo uptight"
My sister then walked up to us and said "I told you, to start kicking it with me. I am the better choice."
I did nothing but begin walking away from them, knowing this was going to be a long-ass day.
As soon as the bell rang for today, I sprinted out of the building ready to kick it with my crew. The speed I had made it back home would've been unbelievable to some, but I had to do what I had to do.
I didn't want to run into either of my guardians that was part of the reason I was pushing 75 in a 35 as well.
I then quickly changed into a black short-sleeved crop top, jeans with zippers all over, and black combat boots.
Tonight's Friday. It's going to be a good night to race with my folks, see all the rich boys โwho don't know their car apart from it's luxury nameโ blow their pistons and of course make some money. I packed a bag for the weekend before writing a note to my mom telling her I was going over my grandmas then peaced out.
I didn't have time for her bullshit and quite frankly I didn't have time to be in North Bay any longer. I was on my way to the south side which was the only place to be on a Friday night.
Swiftly pulling into Tej's Garage, I saw none other than the man himself, Tej Parker.
I then turned off my engine and slipped out causing him dap me up and cheer, "Duchess! What's good sis?"
I laughed and hugged him replying, "Nothing bro, what we got going down tonight?"
"Nothing much, Suki's down in the cut with everybody, all you gotta do is take your place at the start."
I nodded and said "Alright."
I went back to my car hopping in and flipping the switch that turned on the red led lights underneath my car. I then twisted my NOS tanks up and smirked.
Free at last. Free at last.
I drove through the crowd slowly seeing everyone cheering, before I smiled pulling up next to Suki's car.
I then hopped out of my driver's seat and she squealed.
We hugged and I said teasingly "You ready to lose 20 bands."
"Whatever girl! Get ready to get some zick!" She laughed causing me to softly push her
Tej then peered through the crowd and stood in front of everyone and said "Listen up! As y'all know somebody punk'd out tonight's race and I had to make a call, therefore this party should be getting started real soon!"
Everyone began cheered and I heard another engine rumble, making me look over, seeing a Skyline as well as the guy in it, who looked my way.
My mind then went blank as me and him locked eyes.
I shook it off then I looked back at Suki as she whisper yelled "Shit!" clearly agitated
"You know him?" I asked casually trying to play off the fact that he had gave my stomach all types of twisty's
She nodded and said "That's Brian. Street racing legend, he just got back here from L.A.; he and Tej go way back, he was raised here."
I nodded and looked back overseeing him get out of the car, with everyone cheering and dapping him up including Tej.
So he does have rank out here. But why the hell didn't I know him?
He looked at me again before looking at Suki and saying "Sup Suki."
"Wassup Bullit," She replied
He then rested his gorgeous blue eyes on me again for a split second, licking his lips smoothly before turning and talking to Tej for a bit.
Blondie then turned back and said, "Why don't we kick it a nickel?"
"Padakรจ! Padakรจ! Padacoรฑo! No one said anything about raising the stakes." One of the other racers nagged
Brian then walked over to him and said "Well if that's the case, why don't you ask these nice people to back off of the line so you can go home."
I then smiled impressed and almost indecisively, not wanting him to know I was feeling him just yet.
Damn, white boy.
As the crowd let off their coos, instigating the situation this dude then turned towards them yelling "Ay! Ay! Ay!" signaling them to be quiet.
Brian then laughed silently as he did was doing all of this talk but no show.
Finally fed up, I rose off of the bumper of my car and said "So what's it gonna be eลa, because you are doing a whole lot of chitchat but not telling us what we want to hear."
"Let the men discuss this little girl." he seethed
I smirked. He wants to go there, alright. I'll just destroy his shitload of pride.
I laughed lowly and said "Little girl? huh? Well out of all of these people you're the only one who's acting like a little bitch over pocket change. So I guess we can say this "little girl's" dick hangs lower than yours. Because me and my girl can quadruple the stakes, bitch boy."
He then tried to walk up on me and Tej and Brian blocked him. I didn't even flinch, I wanted him to roll up on me like he was crazy, because I was going to beat his ass as his Mother should've.
"Slow your roll the race ain't gotta be the only thing that ends tonight." Tej threatened
I laughed and then stood up and said "De todos modos, no Estoy preocupado por su trasero, Porque voy a golpear tu trasero Como la pequeรฑa perra que pareces." I looked his way meaning every word that came out of my mouth (I am not worried about his ass anyway, because I will beat your ass like the little bitch you look like.)
He then turned, sitting back on his hood looking as if he'd just lost his puppy as Brian looked at me and bit his lip.
"Okay, 35 large, three Cinco" He sighed in defeat handing the money over to Tej.
We all handed our money over to Tej and got in our cars, I was lined up on the other side of this Brian character seeing his demeanor changing.
Suki looked over at me and Brian, flashing a heart, and then turned.
He then looked over at me and said "Suki's a mess."
I laughed and shook my head "Yes, she is"
He smiled looking at me with those mysterious blue eyes "You wanna go and get some food after the race?"
I laughed and said "Let me see how you drive"
He laughed and said, "Aww, yeah, why is that?"
"That'll tell me everything I need to know." I implied looking back at the empty road ahead
His grin widened and Tej got in front of us and announced to the crowd "Alright, I got a surprise for y'all tonight...it's finna be lit!"
"1....2....3........GO!"
