๐๐Ž๐“๐„: This is a look into the past of Elaila Dare's childhood and life before Avengers or Captain America: The Winter Solider. By me putting this in, hopefully the story will make a lot more sense. And another thing, Elaila doesn't use her powers often, so please don't keep asking, "why doesn't she use her powers, it'd be much easier". Thank you. And yes, I'm aware that considering Elaila's childhood and such, she should probably be a quiet, miserable person but I wanted to give her some personality so don't ask questions :) luv y'all.

Having parents who worked for HYDRA was a definite down low in a child's life. Especially when they trained said child to work for HYDRA. The Devil is what they called her. She was a ruthless assassin.

They trained her to be the best. Perfect aim, perfect test results, perfect agent. But, No matter how good you are, you can always be replaced was what her 'father' always said to her. She remembers the disappointment in his eyes every time she screwed up.

When they were training her to control her powers; disappointment.

When she struggled to take down the challenges at 10 years old; disappointment.

Elaila always wondered if they just had a child to become a soldier. A weapon. A danger to others. Of course they did, because if they really loved her, would they do what they did? No.

Telekinesis. A useful trick to have. Definitely helps with killing. Makes everything a lot easier. But sometimes it's a curse. It drains you. Especially when you're a child and aren't that strong. And especially if you were never taught how to use it properly. It makes you feel like you're about to pass out and never wake up. The bad thing about passing out? You're asleep. And the bad thing about being asleep is that you're unaware. You're defenceless. Anybody could sneak up on you. The other bad thing is you have no control over your mind. Which means you're bound to have dreams. Or nightmares.

Nightmares have always plagued Elaila's sleep. Horrible dreams of her childhood when she was locked up in a cell. A dirty mattress in the corner and the only way to escape the cell was to use your abilities, which she didn't have control of. Great way to give a child trauma, am I right?

No control over your mind. No control over your mind or the things you do. You're forced to do things no sane human being wants to do. The mind is a fragile thing already. The more torture you go through, the more you loose control. But we'll get to that later.

The thousands of Mission Reports. The reassurances that you're doing the right thing. The mind wipes. Not knowing who you are nor where you come from. Such a horrible experience. Trying so desperately to be able to put the pieces together, to have all your hard work thrown in the trash. Exactly like a puzzle. You connect the pieces together to form a picture and when you're done, you give yourself a pat on the back then box it up again. Except, the pat on the back is the words "wipe her and start again." and then your puzzle pieces are lost.

Being forced down in the chair when you so desperately want to get out. Get out of that horrid room, get out of that horrid building, get out of that state of mind. Elaila prays for the people who go through what she did. The chair. She almost cracked her teeth, she clenched them so hard. The device restrains you so you can't kick or run away. The machine connects to your head and wipes your memory but in the process, practically tortures you. Elaila's been shot so many times but that's the most pain she's ever had to endure.

Her powers. The telekinesis. Whatever serum they gave the other Super Soldiers, they mixed with another serum and that's what gave Elaila her powers. Why was she chosen? Why is she special? She doesn't even know.

When Elaila was 11 years old, she tried to kill herself. She tried to use telekinesis to do it. She's killed with her powers before. And guess what? It didn't work. Over time, she became numb.

Remember that thing from before?

The more torture you go through, the more you loose control.

Yeah, Elaila kind of lost control.. She was sick of the torture, sick of the killing, sick of everything. So before she went in the chair, she used her powers to take down everyone in the room that were just standing there, watching her in pain. Blood on the walls, the floors and on her clothes. She fought every single guard and scientist in that building and practically tore the place to the ground. Good fucking riddance.

Word got out and she was on the run for around a year. Definitely not her finest moment. But Elaila spent a lot of time remembering things. Most of them, not at all pleasant. But one memory was one of the best she had. It was of one of the other soldiers. She remembers his striking blue eyes. The Winter Soldier was what they called him. But when he wasn't, he was Bucky. She always wonders about him... A lot of HYDRA workers came after her, so she was on the move a lot. Then one day, Nick Fury found her. Thank god for that man. He brought Elaila to SHIELD and let her stay there. To be fair, she was kept in a cell (PTSD flashbacks) and on surveillance for a while but then she got her name cleared and once they saw how determined she was to take down HYDRA, she was pretty much in the clear. She provided them with inside information about what they do and also locations ofย  some of the other labs she was inside once or twice.

Then Elaila met Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton, her best friends.

She isn't proud of where she came from, but she's proud of where she is now. Apparently she's an Avenger.
