Best friend by Brandy
"You've always been here right beside me, So, I'll call you my best friend. Through the good times and the bad ones, Whether I lose or if I win."
KAMARIA WOODS
MARCH 12th, 2008.
WEDNESDAY 1:57 pm
"GIRL WHAT THE fuck you lookin at damn. Can a bitch get they face back." Kourtney mugged Taraji who had been noticeably staring at the duo while they walked side by side.
It was hard for her to go to the same school as them because she always tried to steer clear, especially without any back up.
"I jus wanted to talk..." Taraji muttered attempting to walk along side of them. "I want to apologize for everything that went on a few months back. I felt really bad for it after a while." She admitted.
Kourtney was getting ready to come slick out the mouth, and Kamaria could tell so she stopped her best friend from giving her the tongue lashing she thought she deserved.
"I understand your viewpoint Taraji. I would've been looking at you funny if you didn't help your bestfriend, because behind mine you shouldn't have expected any less. That being said, we accept your apology, but that's all it'll ever be. I don't feel comfortable ever giving you the chance to be friends again because I could never be friends with someone who hand a hand in jumping us." Kamaria explained.
"Now maybe if it was a soft lil jump then okay, but y'all fucked us upโand got that karma back quick, but it just can't happen." Kamaria shook her head attempting to look like she had sympathy.
Taraji didn't say anything letting her say what she had too. She couldn't lie, she understood where they were coming from.
"I know, I wish it were something I could just doโabsolutely nothing." Kourtney cut her off, and this time Kamaria had to let her speak. Clearly Taraji couldn't get the picture with the nice version.
"Bitch you chose your side, and like my best friend said we not gone penalize you for it cause that's your bestfriend but if you want us to feel bad because of a choice you made, you got the wrong one. Now get out our face before I slap you." Kourtney widened her eyes, daring her not to move around.
With that, Taraji didn't want a repeat of last time she had to fight Kourtney alone, so she walked away wishing that it went better.
"Your so mean." Kamaria shook her head with a sly smile showing on her face. She just didn't want to smile while Taraji was there.
"Girl, your just as mean as me. And plus, I had the right to be mean to the hoe, she jumped my ass not you." Kourtney snaked her head looking at Taraji's figure get further and further away. "I feel the same way about her that you do about Cayeton." She concluded.
Kamaria looked like she was thinking about it, "you know what, I can't even be mad at that. Fuck them hoes." The both of them slapped hands with a cackle.
"Exactly." Kourtney nodded once, since she proved her point,ย "now, you hanging with me today, or you goin wit your mannnnnn again." She dragged in a teasing manner.
"I mean, why I can't hang with you and my man at the same time. Don't make me choose." Kamaria playfully pouted, as they walked out of school side by side. "I really don't want to be that friend that just like pays no attention to their friend in order to satisfy their boyfriend you know?" She questioned.
Kourtney nodded silently understanding her. It really could be a challenge truthfully. On one side if you prioritized your friends then your boyfriend would have an issue with not putting enough effort in, if you prioritized your boyfriend your friends would complain about switching up for a relationship. So, it as it would be for anyone, it was sometimes hard to balance.
Still, Kamaria tried her best to share her time equally, and she was grateful that Kourtney didn't really complain about it, but she still didn't want to be neglect their friendship either.
"Girl if you wanna chill wit yo man then so be it. Just make sure when y'all have babies, I get to be the god mom to every single one of them for my hard work and support early on. I told yo ass y'all would be together and gave it six months. Y'all ass took two." She held up two fingers.
"Girl, babies? Where the hell you get kids from." Kamaria questioned, focusing on her conversation but keeping her eyes glued to Samir who was talking to Kyaire next to kyaires car.
"Y'all are obviously gonna have kids. All the sexin y'all be doin." She side eyed Kamaria suspiciously.
"Girl what?!" Kamaria whisper shouted. "I don't talk to you about my sex life like that. Maybe a lil drizzle drizzle but you don't know me like that." Kamaria gave her a fake stink face.
"Girl you don't got to tell me, you got that glow and them hips spreading." Kourtney explained briefly, with a curt nod. "Hey k3, hey slim, and helloooo kyree." Kourtney was her usual quirky self, placing her hands on her hips.
"Wassup?" Kyaire and Samir spoke in unison at the same time that kamaria walked into Samirs embrace, in the midst of Samir giving a kiss on her cheek.
"Hey? How was school." Kamaria asked out in the open, leaning into Samir.
"It was aight." Kyaire muttered. It was easy for him because he had all his credits so he was cruising by for these last two months of school, and he would be graduating in May.
Samir would be as well, but he was kind of in a hard place. Once Samir graduated, he would be offered a higher pay at his current job with coaching. But he also had a chance to attend USF if he ended off the year good and took a summer class to gain one more credit.
He was torn.
Kamaria though, had suggested that he take a gap year, so that way he could take the class for his credit, and then take the offer for the job as well.
He in a way felt like that would be the best option for him particularly, and so far kamaria had never steered him wrong, so he was heavily leaning on it because he loved his job truthfully.
His window was slowly closing though, and he had to be deciding quickly.
"Yeah it was cool." Samir co-signed with a nod.
"It was straight stupid. I'm ready to go home." Kyree just had to be the one who complained, but it was normal. "Lil bit you should make spaghetti to make me feel better." He smirked looking down at his older sister.
He was so tall for a 13-year-old in her opinion.
"I guess." She playfully rolled her eyes. She looked up at Samir. "I can't hang with you today boo." She playfully pouted watching his face drop.
"Who? You not talking to me."ย He shook his head because she was crazy.
"Sadly I am, I have to spend time with my bestie." She tucked her lips in afterward, patting his chest twice lightly as if she was letting him down.
Samir eyed her for a little longer, before nodding as if he had accepted it. "Aight cool." He muttered softly.
"Awwww, bestie I think you broke his heart." Kourtney poked her lip out in a pout.
"I still love you though, andddd how about you can still take me home. That sounds fair." She tapped his nose with her pointer finger, and he smacked his teeth smacking her hand away.
"You fucking corny. Get in the car we been on campus for too long. I'm getting hives." He shook his head making Kyaire and kyree laugh at his reaction.
It was so clear how much he cared about Kamaria , only because of his reactions and the way he acted with her. He had a natural nonchalant vibe, and was always laid back, but with her she always got him out of his element.
Kamaria walked around the car, getting in, and kyree and Kyaire got into kyaires car. "Hmmmm, this one, or this one?" Kourtney looked between two cars.
"I choose this one." She pulled the door open to Samirs car making Kamaria cackle.
All he could do was shake his head. He couldn't stand when they were together, they just caused too much drama. They were way too alike, and two kamaria's just gave him a headache.
The entire drive Samir had to tune them out as they just talked and talked catching up. When he pulled into the driveway, it was like a dream come true so that they could hush.
They all got out, and Kamaria and Kourtney rushed to the house while Samir took his time, since according to her she wouldn't even be spending time with him today. Not.
Eventually, he made his way into the house, and the two girls had already made it to her room so he decided to just go to Kyaire's room.
"Watchu doing bro," Samir spoke lowly, stuffing his hands into the pockets of the jacket he was wearing.
"Shit, I'm trynna watch dis show Kamaria said was good. It's aight." He muttered after taking a quick glimpse at Samir.
"What is it."
"Suite life on deck." He answered back, "it's a Disney show but it's cool. It's better than the one when they in the hotel." He explained.
"Ian seen the one with them in the hotel, but Disney shows been good lately. My favorite show gotta be wizards of waverly place." Samir found himself laughing at the thought. He loved that show so much.
"Oh nigga I know. Whenever that shit on, yo ass is glued to whatever you sitting in." Kyaire smirked. "Check it though." Kyaire looked at Samir again.
"I'm cutting my hair tomorrow finally." He exposed to his best friend, "but don't tell nobody, I'm trynna surprise dem." He shrugged.
"Damn, finally my boy. You asked me about that back in like December last year." He nodded.
"I know, but now that kamaria got a different style and shit, I feel like it's time for me to change my shit up too." Kyaire shrugged his shoulder, and Samir understood.
Kyaire had, had dreads all his life which was why they were at the length they were at now. He didn't even know what he looked like with a different hairstyle. He knew if he ever wanted dreads, it would never hurt to start over, but he wanted to try a different look.
"Well that's wassup, for real. You cutting it all off, keeping some dreads, keeping jus a good amount of hair...watchu doin?" He questioned curiously and Kyaire smirked.
"You just gone have to see when I'm done nigga." Kyaire shrugged his shoulders.
Sighing, Samir plopped on his bed.
Meanwhile, Kamaria and Kourtney were in her room with the door closed. "Girl, I don't know which CD to put in." Kourtney stated standing at kamarias large pink boom box.
"Do Beyoncรฉ, or Cassie. You know I love long way 2 go." Kamaria smiled thinking about her favorite song. It never got old to her, seriously.
"Girl I know it's your favorite song, you played it so much I never wanna hear it again." Kourtney smirked playfully, picking up the Beyoncรฉ Mix and placing it in.
When dangerously in love started playing, Kourtney backed up and turned it up a little before plopping on the best next to Kamaria.
"Your hair is so cute, I can't get over this. It was so random." Kourtney ran her fingers through the flowing ponytail. Kamaria had really been into the messy ponytail look because it looked better with straight hair.
"I know, I just asked Bianca to do it and boom." Kamaria snapped her fingers to demonstrate.
"Speaking of, how was that. Was it awkward." Kourtney was curious. She really didn't get the concept of kamaria and bianca. Kamaria told her everything, but she just thought it was crazy they were cooler now than they were before her and her father were separated.
"It was fine, Sarai wasn't there if that's what you trynna ask." Kamaria shrugged her shoulders, unzipping her backpack so she could start on her little bit of homework.
This year at school was most important. All her test scores looked good thankfully, so now she had to maintain her good grades to earn her credits, and her senior year would be a breeze.
"Sarai a lil pussy." Kourtney muttered and kamaria giggled.
After everything with zion, Sarai switched schools and started going to Gibbs. "Right, after zion passed she acted like a whole wreck at school. And I had to just sit back and watch when everybody was lookin at her funny cause they knew we had a thing."
"Right, she looked like a damn goofy. But I guess if they had a bond she had a right to grieve." Kourtney added onto kamarias statement.
"But yeah, bianca just picked me up and did the highlights then her hairstylist friend did the silk press. And I was done just in time to get to miss tamikas house when Samir got done with his drivers license." Kamaria explained it her best friend , while Kourtney ran her fingers through her hair still.
"Speaking of, I know you don't pillow talk but please tell me you gave him some bomb birthday sex." Kourtney muttered. She loved getting excited for her bestfriend so she always asked her stuff.
"Sadly, I was on my period so we couldn't." Kamaria answered her, feeling herself grow irritated. Growing up, she was not one of the girls who wanted their period early, so the fact she was a late bloomer was never an issue with her. She hated when she got her period.
Now it was stopping her from a lot of things.
On Samirs birthday though, she did give him head, but that was the most she could do. "Damn, I would be crying if I was him. You look like you go crazy in the bedroom." Kourtney spoke as if what she was saying was normal.
"I look like I go crazy in the bedroom?" Kamaria reiterated, completely confused on what that meant or what she was insinuating.
"Yes, you know. Your personality. You got a mean streak and I know that go crazy. Plus you a cheerleader slash dancer so you flexible and you got a good amount of stamina." She nodded at her own observations.
"Girl, I don't even be thinking about it that way." Kamaria shook her head, placing her binder on her lap so she could use it as a hard surface to write on.
"You probably don't, but yo man do. Duh, you look like you can go 10 rounds." Kourtney snickered going above just for the extra affect.
"Girl bye I'm sick of you and the sex talk. Next subject please." She rolled her eyes in a joking manner.
"Alright alright. Let's talk about school, you know I'm really just trynna catch up with you." Kourtney shrugged her shoulders. By now she was on her knees behind kamarias body, putting her hair into a pretty bun. She had a thing for hair of course. "Are you ready for cheer tryouts?"
"What y'all talkin about?" Kyree walked in the room.
"School, hush." She muttered keeping her eyes trained on her chemistry homework. Chemistry was the class she struggled with the most, she had a low B so she needed to maintain or improve in that class if she wanted a chance at honors roll for the end of third quarter that was approaching quickly.
"Anyway, yes I'm ready but I'm just thinking about how busy my life is going to be again." She muttered closing her eyes. "With my job and cheer practice plus games I feel like things will clash a lot." She sighed.
Kourtney nodded understanding.
"If you had to choose, which one would you choose?" She questioned and Kamaria sighed deeply.
"That's the thing, I don't know. I really love cheer, like so bad. And taking a break from it, could potentially mess shit up. And you know my back up plan in the future is like dance techniques and cheering." She started, "but my job gives me a lot of good practice with being an assistant which is my main goal wanting to be a paralegal. And then I also love the team and having fun with them as well so I'm not sure truthfully." Kamaria swallowed.
"I can see your dilemma girl. I would hate to have to choose between the two." She nodded her head slowly.
"Yeah, but I'll figure it out. I always do." She shrugged, and kyree even had to agree. Kamaria always figured it out and made things happen in her power. She always found a way, and that was just who she was. She was who people leaned on to make things happen.
After kamaria finished her homework and talking for a little, her, kyree and Kourtney shifted to the kitchen so kamaria could make spaghetti like her brother had asked.
"What y'all doin in here," Kyaire asked popping up around the corner.
"Lil bit making me spaghetti, I told you she would." Kyree smirked with his eyes shifting between Samir and Kyaire as they made their way inside.
"Shut up."
"I'm not making it just for you though kyree it's for everybody. And I'm trynna make just enough cause momma not making me eat leftovers for years." She muttered rolling her eyes as she seasoned the tomato sauce.
Samir went next to kamaria, leaning on the counter next to her since she was standing at the stove watching the sauce simmer.
"You makin enough for me too?" He asked her, running his tongue over his bottom lip.
"Get yo damn tongue back in your mouth lookin like a thirsty ass dog. My sister ain't no water." Kyree frowned and Samir laughed.
"Shut up boy, you don't even know me." Samir waved him off because his reaction was normal. Plus, Samir couldn't help how he looked at kamaria. She was a very beautiful girl, and he swore his heart rate sped up when ever he looked at her.
"Im making enough for everybody in this kitchen, now get out my face." She waved him off and that was all he had to hear.
"You don't gotta tell me shit else," he leaned down to kiss her on the cheek, before walking away back to the living room to watch tv.
