Can't Get Enough by Tamia

"Close the door, Bed or floor? I just want more, I can't get enough of you."

KAMARIA WOODS
NOVEMBER 30th, 2007
FRIDAY 1:55 pm

"SO WHERE YOU finna go after school?" Samir walked up on Kamari in the hallway making her head whip around.

"Boy don't be walking up on me like that I almost gave you the business." She blew out a breath shaky her head as Kourtney accompanied her giggling slightly.

Her friend was always threatening people, but she couldn't say much because she was just as hostile if not worse.

"Anyway, I'm off today and I don't have to tutor you, so I'm going to the mall to start Christmas shopping. I gotta start early to make it up to kyree since I told him Santa wasn't real. My mama got on my ass." She explained.

Samir started laughing never knowing that, "Why you told him that he just a kid, you wrong." He said playfully.

"Because he stay in my business, and I couldn't tell him what I was really talking bout so I chose to mess with him." She shrugged adjusting the strap to her hello kitty tote bag on her shoulder.

"Well...what was y'all talking bout." His eyes shifted between Kourtney and kamaria intrigued now. From the look that they gave each other trying to hide their smiles he knew they wouldn't tell him, which made his face fall flat.

"Tell me, what the fuck." He frowned looking at Kamaria specially.

"Oop," Kourtney clamped her mouth shut, and he quickly looked at her. "We wasnt talking about nothing that concern you, get out my friend face." She attempted to dismiss him knowing they were having a full on conversation about how she swore Samir had a thing for her.

As the months went by, her thoughts hadn't changed, they actually had became stronger the more they interacted, it was definitely something there and she could see it.

"Whatever, wit y'all secretive ass." He shrugged deciding to drop it, he had a feeling they wouldn't tell him because it was something that would make him mad, so he wouldn't push it to hurt his own feelings.

"Anyway, let me slide to the mall with you, ya brother still mad at me." Samir rubbed his hands together casually making kamaria laugh at that.

Kyaire had been acting funny with Samir all week because he didn't stop by the house on Sunday when he spent time with his brother. Kyaire understood, but petty just ran in his blood. If Samir could go a day without chilling with him, he could go a week doing the same thing.

"Them bestfriend arguments be something different, shit feel worse than a real relationship." Kourtney jested since she understood. When ever her and kamaria argued and stopped talking for a day she felt like she couldn't breath like kamaria was her long term boyfriend, so she definitely understood.

"I didn't even do shit to his ass." Samir playfully shook his head as they walked out of the school. "So what tayta, you finna let me come or what?" He went back to his original question.

They usually didn't hang on fridays because she didn't tutor or study with him on fridays. Fridays were days when everybody hung out, so she didn't make him tutor on those days leaving that as a hang out day. Today he just happened to want to use his hang out time to be with her anyway.

He couldn't ignore the fact that he felt him self gravitating towards her whenever she was around, and it was starting to get a little too intense. It was almost hard for him to ignore what he already knew at this point. At first he was confused, but having a dream about having sexual intercourse with her opened his eyes, and he definitely saw her in a different light.

He realized he stopped seeing her as the sister figure he claimed she was, a long time ago. He had developed feelings for her and he was aware. It was hard not too when they did nothing but hang out and spend most of their time with each other. He just didn't know how to go about it.

He wasn't the type to hide his feelings , he acted on them and he wanted too so badly. He just didn't know if his feelings were reciprocated, and them being in a relationship could cause a rift in relationships.

His relationship with his bestfriend, and their parents relationship, so for the time being he had done nothing, but silently admired the person she was.

She bit the inside of her cheek with an unsure look unknowingly making his stomach do flips. "Alright I guess, I hope you know we taking the busโ€”omg that's another we need to work on, your damn license." She reminded her self.

He smacked his teeth looking away so that she couldn't see how much he really wanted to smile. She had been doing everything in her power to get his life back in track, he couldn't tell if it was from guilt or just because she wanted to, but he was eating up every second of it.

Kourtney smirked hearing they would be going to the mall together, she was on to them.

"Aww how cute." Kourtney beamed.

Samir cut his eyes towards her wondering what she meant by that. Before he could ask, a voice that for sure hadn't been his favorite lately spoke up, "Kourtney let's go I got moves to make." Her brother Saint spoke up from his car.

All three of them lifted their head simultaneously to see him standing there waiting with his usual attire. His long hair was braided in neat and designed corn rows thanks to his sister , a large blue and white jersey, with the large pants to go with, and a pair of air max Nikes topped off with a plain link gold chain around his neck that made his dark skin pop.

"Alright yall I'm gone." Kourtney chucked up the deuces, but Saint tilted his head seeing only she was walking towards them. He thought he was taking both kamaria and Kourtney home.

"Lil bit, slim, y'all don't need a ride?" He called out, squinting his eyes as the sun beamed on him. It was one of those days in December where the weather was a cool 80 degrees.

"No we finna catch the bus, thank you though Saint." She wiggled her fingers waving him off leaving him to nod with a shrug. He ducked his head getting into his car and closed the door as the two walked past.

They started walking down the side walk when Samir finally realized something. "What mall we going to, cause if we going to Tyrone we can just walk." He stated making her roll her eyes.

"No duh. We going to countryside, Tyrone don't got shit right now." She explained, countryside was just a bigger mall in general and it had two levels , Tyrone only had one, not including inside of macys where there was an upstairs portion in that store alone.

"How much money you got?"

Kamarias face fell into an stoic expression, "I would never tell you that. Don't be trynna run my pockets nigga, just know I got money. I been saving a half of each one of my checks all year putting it in my Christmas funds." She explained.

He raised his eyebrows, a half of every one of her bi-weekly checks for a full year had to be a lot. He would never be able to manage money like that. "You should get a job too." She softly suggested, staring straight ahead.

His head whipped to the side staring at the side of her face. "What the hell that's supposed to mean? Ion got that many options." He bucked his eyes making her giggle at how quickly he used his defense mechanism when she was doing nothing but trying to help.

"Yeah I knew you would say that." She muttered scratching the back of her neck, and Samir thought she killed the conversation until she went on. "I tried to look for you, but I just didn't see anything that I knew for sure that would pique your interest." She explained.

He bit his tongue since he wanted to so badly tell her he had no idea what pique meant, but he could use the context clues, so he got the gist of what she was saying. "So it's jus a lost cause huh." He stuffed his hands in his pockets as the wind picked up, smacking them in the face.

"Nope." She perked up.

"It's one thing." She continued while he rolled his tongue over the top row of his teeth. He didn't even know if he wanted a job at the moment, granted he needed one, his life had too much stuff going on to want to add even more stress.

"I was doing research so you could get your volunteer hoursโ€”or paid work hours. You can work at the rec and coach the 14 and 15 year old basketball division." She stated knocking all the air out his body.

He opened his mouth, then quickly clamped it back closed. Seeing he wasn't going to say anything she figured to give him the details, "the downside is they not really that good...they didn't bring in any wins last season and that's why they struggling to find a coach. Probably why they don't mind yo ass is seventeen." She muttered the ending.

"On the bright side, I met them, it's a group of nine. There are 6 fifteen-year-olds and 3 fourteen-year-olds. They really cool and have a nice vibe, I think they just need someone who is actually dedicated for change to be made. Just like how I tutor you." She shrugged. "Oh also the pay is like ten dollars and hourโ€”I'm sorry I'm rambling. It's just your not talking and I don't know how you feel, sorry if I overstepped andโ€”" she shut up realizing she was still going and he still hadn't said anything.

"Why that out of everything?"

Kamari stilted her head , wondering the same thing.

"Shit, ian even that good. Plus I'm still in highschool I doubt I would get far with that being only two years older than the majority of them." He was trying to look at all the downsides so that he wouldn't get his hopes up.

Kamarias jaw dropped dramatically before punching him in the arm making him hiss. "Boy, stop talkin bout your self like that. You are good. And your age doesn't have anything to do with it, that's not what being a role model is about. You been through shit, it's your job to keep them on the right track so they don't make mistakes that can turn their life around. You wanna see other kids have to go through what you did knowing you could be a factor of preventing it?" She questioned rhetorically.

His heart thumped against his chest at her words feeling them hit him in the gut since she was spot on. "I just feel like the pedestal you got me on is way to high. You expect way more than I feel like I'm capable of." He expressed wondering how it had gotten so deep.

"And you don't do the same thing to me?" She countered. She vividly remembered a conversation she had with his mother months prior about how high the pedestal he held her on was. "If I can push myself to meet your expectations when it comes to you, you can do the same for me. This would be good for you, and a step closer to getting you into a decent college too. Stop discrediting yourself. At first I was asking but now you don't have a choice, you taking the damn job and that's it." She spat letting out an irritated huff.

He could tell he had bothered her with their dispute, but he didn't even have the energy for a rebuttal because he was too deep in thought, thinking of all the things that can go wrong with him doing this.

"Don't talk to me like you my mama." He mumbled with a frown on his face avoiding looking at her as he disregarded her angry rant.

Although kamaria was trying her hardest to stay stern on her attitude she couldn't help but to smile at his child like mannerisms, "nothing but a big ass baby." She mushed his head making him laugh.

Just like that everything was cool again.

"Now, your gonna take the job right." She coerced, he could hear it in her tone she wasn't asking, she was telling him. She was just seeing if he was dumb enough to actually tell her no so she could knock him upside the head.

"Mhm."

"And your gone be their role model and help them right." She continued with her eyebrows raised.

His jaw twitched before he reluctantly nodded trying to push his bad thoughts to the back of his head so he wouldn't say anything slick. He really didn't believe in himself at all.

"Yes." He forced out to make her happy, which worked since she began beaming.

"Good, so now when we go to the mall we can get you some stuff." She started talking again making him side eye her as the got to the bus stop. "This is so good, now you'll have a job, volunteer hours, you can be more involved with the basketball scene and it'll look good on applications too." She listed on her fingers.

He hated to admit that sounded really good. He was confident she knew what she was doing.

"Fine."

"I told you, you don't have to." Kamaria giggled as Samir smacked his teeth at her.

"You knew I would anyway that's why, just get what you finna get." He shook his head watching her eye the silver digital Canon camera box in her palm reading over the features.

She felt like it would be a good gift to her mother, but she couldn't decide between the digital camera and a regular Polaroid.

She had gotten both of her brothers a heap of gifts and Samir helped her pick out each and every one, she was actually happy he came to get a second opinion.

For the last ten minutes she had been walking around looking for items for her mother but she was lost. Everything she could remotely think about getting her , Simone already owned.

She was just thinking about getting her the camera, and then going back at a later date since she still had a few weeks until Christmas. "I'm just gonna get this one." She came to her final decision, looking back at Samir who had all her stuff in his hands with a straight face.

Once he nodded in approval agreeing with her decision she walked away while he followed in to getting in line with her.

He stood towering over her behind her looking down at her as she read the back of the box packaging the camera was inside of.

She finally looked up locking eyes with him making her pretty smile take over her face. "So what you asked yo people for, for Christmas?" She asked curiously.

He shrugged running his tongue over his bottom lip. "I didn't ask for nothing, whatever Dey get me is cool. Only cause ion got nothing that I want In particular." He explained.

"Look at you using big words, I'm rubbing off on you." She joked, and he rolled his eyes because particular was not a big word, she was just trying to be funny. "So you really don't have nothing that you remotely want?" She continued.

She frowned slightly when he shook his head no. "Nah not really." He expressed truthfully. What ever he got he would be cool with, he didn't even know what people his age wanted these days. "I mean, if it was when I first got back home I would ask for a dirt bike but I got one already."

She nodded understanding that, her brother and his friends loved riding their dirt bikes ever since they were kids so that was understandable. She liked riding hers too, but they did it like it was a sport.

"Hmm." She nodded her head, turning forward again moving up to the resister since it was her turn. She paid for the camera letting them put it in a bag passing it to Samir and she turned on her heels heading towards the door.

"I love this, it's like you my servant." She beamed as they got back into the main part where everyone seemed to be.

"Is it because I'm black?" He tilted his head making her jaw drop. "You just called me a damn slave." He dead panned her, gaining a slight giggle afterwards from her.

"No I didn't I said you like a servant." She countered his statement.

He smacked his teeth, "the same damn thing." He waved her off with his eyes shifting around the packed mall. "Damn, everybody and they momma here ainnit?" He questioned looking over his shoulder.

She nodded silently at his words pulling her high waisted jeans up. "It's Friday after school, of course everybody here." She smiled shaking her head at the mug plastered on his face.

He realized after being out of juvie for a few months that crowded places just weren't really his scenery so he was looking crazy at the moment.

"Come on let's go in there." She pointed making his eyes shift to where she was directing him. He jerked his head back.

"For who? Yo mama?!" He widened his eyes looked down at her making her giggle shaking her head no at the look on his face.

"No dummy, me." She turned on her heels walking away before he could comprehend. He smacked his teeth following after her starting to regret even coming with her.

"You don't need shit outta here." He paused at the entrance not wanting to go into Victoria's secret. She rolled her eyes turning to face him.

"I'm not going to this part, I'm going to PINK." She informed her all while he kept a stoic expression plastered on his face.

"Ain't no damn better, but hurry up so we can get out of here." He frowned looking around as if he was scared of what they were selling when in reality he didn't think he was the person to be with her while shopping there, especially with the way he had been seeing her lately.

She beamed strolling through the store eyeing stuff, occasionally asking for his opinion like she had been doing, except now he wasn't giving his opinion. Just staring at her as if she had lost her mind for even asking him, so she just eventually got a jacket, a new workout outfit cheer, and five underwear sets before they checked out.

"Your no help." She verbalized as they walked out the store, and he ignored her because he didn't care. "Wanna get something to eat?" She questioned looking over her shoulder since he was behind her.

"Yes, I been wondering when you was gone bring up food. A nigga ain't ate all day, I'm hungry." He admitted making her laugh at him at how quick he answered truthfully.

"You should've told me." She shrugged, she ran her tongue over her lips before asking him, "you got two quarters for the pay phone?"

He nodded silently and she eyed him skeptically as he dug in his pocket to retrieve the quarters. He never left home without them. He opened his hand revealing eight quarters, picking two up with a slight struggle since he had bags in his hands, passing them over.

"Okay coin master." She muttered walking towards the phone making him laugh as she got to the phone sliding the quarters in. She dialed her brothers number picking up the phone.

When he answered she informed him that she was with Samir and they were ready to get picked up which he said okay to and told her he would be there in a hour because he was in river view, then they hung up.

"He won't be another hour, him and jayce are just now leaving river view." She disclosed and though he felt like that was too long he simply nodded with a shrug since that's all he could do.

"Okay let's go get something to eat, I kinda want pizza but I also want fried rice..." she walked along side of him. She bit down on her bottom lip as they conversed with each other until they finally got their food and sat at a table with four sides in two chairs in the food court that was also crowded.

Samir had got the same thing as her which was orange chicken, bourbon chicken and fried rice, because he didn't really care. "Aight so, you know anything bout the boys I'm supposed to be coaching at the rec. you said you met em." He asked Curiously picking up his cup drinking from the straw.

"Ohh yeahhh." She dragged out, kicking her foot against the chair leg as she reciprocated his moves, also drinking form her cup as well. "Okay so their are 3 fourteen year olds, myreon, isaiah, and adrian, then the fifteen year olds, Derek and Danielโ€”they are brothersโ€”Jabari, jamaries, Giovanni, and dontario." She listed on her fingers.

He raised his eyebrows, "and you met themโ€”face to face and spoke to them." He questioned because she was able to name them off the top of her head.

"Yep, they ain't angels or nothin but I prefer them the way they are. They funny, and they really are good especially the brothers, they just need teamwork." She explained before placing a fork full of rice in her mouth.

Once she finished what was in her mouth she pointed her fork at him, "your schedule is finna get a whole lot busier. Trust me I know." She nodded. "With studying, a job, being on the basketball team and working on getting your license your hands are gonna be full. Thank goodness you have me." She beamed tilting her head making his hearth thump.

Thank goodness was right, he was so lucky to have her.

"Is this shit even possible tayta." He raised his eyebrows unconvinced.

"Boy I'm in the same boat as you, I'm studying for SAT on top of mid terms, I'm helping coach little league cheerleaders, I'm getting my driving hours for my drivers test requirements, and on top of that I just took on a new job." She tilted her head.

"Well first of all I'm not on the basketball team ion know where you got that shit from, and Youn work at dollar general no more?" He questioned confused. They were together all the time, so he didn't know when he missed that.

"Nah, when I first started working there I had a plan, only be there for a year to maintain funds until I was old enough to get a real job that I would actually enjoy for the rest of my highschool years. I'm sixteen now as of a few months ago which opens way more doors, and I got a job that interests me." She shrugged. "And yes your are going to be on the basketball team, that can help you get sports scholarships and look good on college applications."

"And you said I'm the servant? You like my personal secretary." He smirked but she scoffed playfully not taking offense to it.

"Well considering that my dream career is being the assistant of an lawyer, I think it's good practice huh." She made her point and he nodded impressed with her.

"Oh yeah, you did tell me that. You gone make big money being good like dis." He grinned proudly. Her responsibility skills and her determinism made her so admirable.

"I know right?!"
