Delaney followed Sam and Dean down the darkened hallway of an abandoned warehouse. She stepped out of the way of the dripping pipes that hung up ahead and shook out her jacket when a single droplet had dripped down onto it. The flashlights in the three Winchesters' hands lit up the way ahead as they tried to navigate where to go. Dean had been visited by Castiel in his dream to tell him that the siblings needed to meet him at the warehouse they were currently in.ย
"What did he say, Dean? What was so important?" Delaney asked, scanning her eyes around the area for anything that stood out. Her gun was clutched tightly in her other hand while the duffle bag of miscellaneous weapons she offered to carry bounced lightly against her back.ย
"If I knew, would we be here? Now keep up, half pint."
Delaney scoffed out a laugh and punched Dean's arm, continuing to follow her brothers up a set of metal steps to the second floor. The electricity cracked and some bits of light rained down on the Winchesters, flickering out when it landed on their shoulders. Broken balcony and step pieces hung down from the next floor up from above and bits of wood and glass littered the floors, crunching loudly beneath the siblings' feet. A sort of fog hung in the air above the siblings' heads and Sam had to duck under a hanging wire that still sparked with life.
"There was a fight here," Dean noted, shining his flashlight over all of the broken pieces and parts that the trio had to continue to climb their way over.
"Between who?" Sam asked, nearly stumbling when his foot caught on a piece of wood. "David and Goliath?"
"Hey, boys," Delaney called, walking closer to the brick wall she had passed by. She craned her neck to look up at the massive wall where a large circle with triangle in the middle and arrows surrounding it was painted in what looked like blood. She tilted her head as the symbol looked extremely familiar to her. "Does that look familiar to you?"
Dean had stopped behind his baby sister with Sam at his side, the two boys shining their flashlights along the symbol. "Yeah, it does. Anna used something like this to wish the angels back to the cornfield."
Sam furrowed his eyebrows and scanned the wall for anything else besides the symbol, but that was the only thing that seemed to stain the red bricks before the siblings. "So, what? Cas was fighting angels?"
"I don't know," Dean mumbled, sounding lost in thought as he turned away to shine his flashlight more around them. He froze when his light stopped on Castiel's vessel and he nudged his siblings to follow him, rushing towards Castiel and ducking under the sparking wires that hung above him. "Cas! Hey! Cas!"ย
Castiel suddenly bolted back to life and he shot up to sit up from where he'd been previously laid out on the wooden crates beneath him. "What'sย โ what's going on?"
Delaney offered the angel her hand and helped him stumble to his feet, rubbing his arm soothingly as Castiel still appeared frazzled and out of it. "Cas, hey, take it easy. Are you okay?"
"Castiel?" Castiel repeated, but his voice sounded different. It wasn't the usual deep and gravely voice Castiel had, but a more smooth type of voice that was music to the ears. "I'm not Castiel. It's me."
"Who's me?" Sam questioned, staring at Castiel oddly. Did the angel hit his head hard enough to jostle around his brain?
Castiel looked around at him on high alert as if expecting something or someoneย to pop out at him. "Jimmy. My name's Jimmy."
Dean was stunned into silence for a moment as he exchanged looks with his siblings, the trio all suddenly veryย confused on what was going on. Castiel had appeared to Dean in a dream, but yet he wasn't actually here in his vessel? "Uh . . . okay, but . . . where the hell is Cas?"
Jimmy's face fell solemnly and he shook his head sadly, opening and closing his mouth a few times as he didn't know how to express it without hurting the siblings. Obviously, something very wrong had happened here and only Jimmy had the information that Dean, Sam and Delaney needed.
"He's gone."
The three Winchesters had decided to take Jimmy back to their motel room to try and get some answers. He had been starving when they left the warehouse so Dean was kind enough to stop to pick the man up a burger and some fries so he could get some food in his system. If it got him to talk, Dean would have done just about anything to get words out of the man.
Jimmy munched happily on his burger in the motel room where he sat at the round table near the window with Delaney, Dean and Sam sat at the table with him. He had blown throw half his fries and three quarters of his burger already and they'd only been back at the motel for five minutes. It was almost like the man had never had a meal in his life.
"Mind slowing down? You're gonna give me angina," Dean remarked, earning him a swift kick to the shin from Delaney for being rude. He mumbled an owย and shot the youngest Winchester a glare.
"When's the last time you ate?" Delaney asked, ignoring the glare and childish mumblings she'd received from Dean.
Jimmy shrugged and took a long sip from his soda cup, sighing happily as the drink filled his system. "I don't knowย โ months."
Sam rose his eyebrows in slight amusement as he watched Jimmy polish off the rest of his burger and then drink more from his soda, the air whooshing through his straw now that it was practically empty. "What the hell happened back there? It looked like an angel battle royal."
"All I remember is there was a flash of light, and I, uh . . . Iย โ I woke up, and I was just, you know, like me again."
"So, whatย โ Castiel just left you behind?" Delaney questioned, tilting her head in confusion. None of it really made sense since Castiel didn't seem like the type of angel to just ditch his vessel like that.
"I really don't know," Jimmy replied, popping another fry into his mouth.
"Do you remember anything about being possessed? Anything at all?" Sam chimed in.
Jimmy nodded and covered his mouth with his hand to finish chewing the fries in his mouth before he decided to speak again. "Yeah, bits and pieces. I mean, an angel inside of youย โ it's kind of like being chained to a comet."
Delaney puffed out her cheeks and tugged a hand through her hair, not really knowing how to handle a situation like this. None of the Winchesters ever really experienced angels until Dean had been hauled up from Hell by Castiel. So their knowledge on angels and what to do with them was extremely limited and the only intel they had didn't really remember all that much to help them. "Cas told Dean that he had something to tell us. Do you remember what that is?"
Jimmy frowned and shook his head, appearing guilty that he couldn't give the Winchesters the information they needed. "Sorry."
"Come on, what doย you know?" Dean huffed, sounding incredibly fed up with the whole situation like his siblings were.
"My name is Jimmy Novak. I'm from Pontiac, Illinois and I have a family."
Once Jimmy had finished eating his burger and fries, Dean offered for the man to shower if he wanted since his body had been through a fight. Plus, Lord only knew the last time the man showeredย โ even though Jimmy oddly didn't have any body odorย โ and allowed him to use their shower while Dean, Delaney and Sam stepped out of the motel room to talk in private. They didn't have much to go off with where Castiel could be and, if Jimmy no longer had Castiel in him, what were they supposed to do with him? He was now human, but he was still the only lead they had with Castiel.
"What do you with Jimmy?" Delaney asked her brothers, pulling herself up to sit on the hood of the Impala while the two boys stood in front of her.
"What do you mean, Della? The guy's got a family. We buy him a bus ticket, send him home."
"Dean, he's the only lead we got on Cas."
"Delly, he doesn't know anything," Sam reminded Delaney, motioning to the motel room where Jimmy was.
Delaney chewed on the inside of her lip and crossed her one leg over the other, leaning back on her hands. There had to be somethingย that Jimmy remembered from when he was possessed by Castiel. The girl that had been possessed by Meg had said that she remembered everything the whole time she'd been possessed and couldn't stop whatever the demon had done using her body. So Delaney wondered if Jimmy was holding back information that he didn't even know he had. "Are we one hundred percent about that one? I'm just saying . . . maybe heย doesn't even know what he knows. I say we take him to Bobby's. Maybe all he needs isย โ is hypnosis or a psychic or maybe Cas will just drop back into him."
Sam pursed his lips as he considered his baby sister's theory, weighing his head from side to side as he tried to debate if she had a point. "I don't know about that, little one."
"Boys, back there, that was angel-on-angel violence. Now, I don't really know what's going on, but it's big, and we can't just let the only lead we've got just skip out on us," Delaney ranted, freezing when she saw Dean already shaking his head. "Dean, what?"
"Remember when our job was helping peopleย โ like getting them back to their family?"
"You think I don't wanna help him? I'm just being realistic. I mean, Hell, we're probably doing him a favor. He's been an angel for a year. If we want to question the guy, you can damn well bet the demons do, too."
"What do you mean I can't go home?"
Delaney and Sam rolled their lips into their mouths where they sat on the table that Jimmy had previously ate at. Dean stood with Jimmy in the middle of the motel room after he'd just finished telling Jimmy that it wasn't a good idea to bring him back to his family just yet. Not with the possibility he could be taken by the demons before Castiel could find his way back to Jimmy to take over him agin.
"There's a good chance you have a bullseye on your back from the demons," Dean explained, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. He didn't want to have to be the one to break the news to Jimmy, but Sam and Delaney had all but shoved him forward when they reentered the room and Jimmy had been dressed and ready from his shower.
"What? Why?"
"I don't knowย โ information, maybe."
"I don't know anything!" Jimmy explained, throwing his hands into the air out of frustration. "Look, I'm done, okay? With demons, angelsย โ all of it. I just want to go home. I've been shot and stabbed and healed, and my body's been dragged all over the Earth. By some miracle, I'm out and I am done. I've given enough, okay?"
Delaney slid off the table and walked up to stand next to her big brother, crossing her arms. "Look, all Dean is saying is that until we can figure this out, the safest place is with my brothers and I."
Jimmy dropped his hands to his sides and shot Delaney an annoyed expression. "How long?"
Delaney grimaced, rocking back on her heels as she didn't exactly think that part out. It was kind of hard to determine that when the siblings still didn't know what was even going on in the first place. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."
Jimmy scoffed and brushed past Delaney and Dean, getting stopped from leaving from the motel room as Sam stood in front of the door and Dean asked where he was going. "To see my wife and daughter, okay?"
"No, you're not," Sam denied, pressing his hand against Jimmy's chest when the man tried to make a move past him. "You're just gonna put those people in danger."
"So, whatย โ now I'm a prisoner?" Jimmy shot back."
"Well, that's a harsh way to put it."
The next morning, Delaney had woken up both Dean and Sam to alert them that Jimmy had escaped during the night. She had stepped out of the room once everyone was asleep to drink the small silver flask she had taken from Randy to bring up her strength. If they were going to be working with the big guns, then she'd need all the strength she could get to protect Jimmy if needed. She could feel it pump hotly through her veins as she threw her stuff into her duffle bag while the two boys took their time with getting ready.ย
Something that Delaney should have been used to and yet it still bothered her. She chalked it up to the demon blood, but she couldn't stop the raging anger and annoyance with her brothers for not rushing when Jimmy could be in danger somewhere.
"Seriously, can the both of you hurry up?" Delaney snapped, zipping up her duffle bag and spinning around to face Dean and Sam who stood outside the bathroom door brushing their teeth. She huffed out in annoyance when the boys chuckled at her. "What's so funny?"
"The fact that you're being Ms. Big Bad Prison Guard and Jimmy McMook gave you the slip? Oh, it's definitely funny. What were doing anyway?" Dean asked, removing the tooth brush from his mouth and revealing his foamy mouth from the toothpaste.
"I was getting a water from the vending machine," Delaney lied swiftly, lifting her duffle bag onto her shoulder in the hopes it would get Dean and Sam to move faster.
Dean ticked an eyebrow as Sam moved away to rinse out his mouth of the toothpaste that began to dribble down his chin. "Was it a refreshingย water?"
"God, you're annoying," Delaney grumbled, brushing past her brother as he merely chuckled at her. "Can we just goย before I kick your ass?"
Thankfully, Dean and Sam were done after that and they were on the road in search of Jimmy. The rain was the only sound that filtered through the silence of the car, the fat droplets smacking agains the roof and windshield of the Impala. Delaney sat in the back seat while Sam and Dean sat in the front, none of them making a sound since Delaney's little outburst.ย
"Hey, guys."
Delaney let out a small scream and whipped her around to see Anna sat next to her in the back while Dean swerved the car slightly when he was spooked. She clutched her hand to her chest and tried to regulate her breathing again as Dean righted the car once again. "Anna, a little warning maybe? You nearly gave me a heart attack."
Anna sheepishly smiled and tucked a piece of red hair behind her ear. "Sorry. I like the element of surprise."
Dean grinned over his shoulder at the angel and Sam and Delaney both mockingly gagged at the twinkle in his eye. "Well, you look terrific."
"Not the most appropriate time, Dean. You let Jimmy get away?"
"Talk to the pipsqueak here not us," Dean defended, jerking his thumb towards Delaney who shot him a look for betraying her.
Anna turned to Delaney with a disappointed look that made another bubble of annoyance spark in her stomach, but she tried to push it down so she wouldn't snap at the angel. "Delaney . . . you seem . . . different."
Delaney blinked in surprise, expecting to get a very angelic way of getting a scolding and not that she seemed different. Part of her wondered if Anna could sense the spike in demon blood in her system, but the other part desperately begged her to just play it off so as not to worry Dean and Sam. She still didn't want her brothers getting involved with her plot against Randy and Lilith so she had to keep everything on the down low. "Me? I mean . . . a haircut maybe?"
"That's not what I'm talking about," Anna countered, but didn't make a move to say anything further. The look on Anna's face told Delaney that she could sense something darker inside of Delaney from the last time they'd seen each other back at Bobby's place and the warehouse. She turned to Dean and Sam after a long moment to go back to the topic at hand. "So, what'd Jimmy tell you? He remember anything?"
"Why? What's going on?" Sam asked, shifting in his seat so he could properly look back at Anna.
"It's Cas. He got sent back home. Well, more like draggedย back. This is a very badย thing. Painfully, awfully bad. He must have seriously pissed someone off."
"Cas said he had something to tell meย โ something important. I don't know what it was, though," Dean informed Anna who perked up at the new information.
"Does Jimmy know what it was?" Anna questioned and frowned when Dean shook his head silently. "What it is, it's huge. You got to find out for sure."
Delaney gestured to the road ahead of them that Dean sped down to try and get to Jimmy as quickly as they could before something terrible happened to him. "That's why we're going after Jimmy."
"That's why you shouldn't have let him go in the first place. He's . . . probably dead already."
Delaney's knee bounced in the back of the Impala as they drove at top speed towards Jimmy's house that was just minutesย away. Sam was able to swing Jimmy's address after making a few calls and Anna had disappeared somewhere in the middle of the drive to do whatever it was she needed to do. She just told the Winchesters to make it to Jimmy before the demons did and then was gone from sight.ย
Anna leaving made Delaney happy because the angel wasn't there to see Delaney all jittery from the need for more demon blood. The rational part of herย โ the veryย small rational part of her that still residedย โ scolded her for even going this far with the demon blood and the plan. She had let it get too far and now she was all but dependent on the thing she neverย wanted to get addicted to. She felt like a crack addict just waiting for her next hit to keep her strong and stable until the next urge reared its ugly head. Didn't help that Randy stopped answering his phone and Delaney had no idea where her demon boyfriend even was.
Thankfully for Delaney, she was able to distract her mind when Dean pulled up in front of Jimmy's modern styled house and threw the car in park. The three siblings rushed into the house with Ruby's knife clutched tightly in Dean's hand to see Jimmy's wife fighting off the female demon that attacked Jimmy while a male demon held Jimmy's daughter back with a knife to her throat. Dean snuck up behind the demon and sliced at his throat, causing his body to drop limply to the ground which alerted Jimmy, his wife and the female demon.
The female demon got up to run but Delaney quickly stuck up her palm, focusing her abilities on exorcising her out of the body. Dean and Sam both glanced to Delaney with wide eyes but she grunted at Dean and Sam to get Jimmy, his wife and his daughter out of the house quickly while she handled the female demon. She struggled as Dean and Sam pushed at the Novak family to get out of harms way, feeling her abilities dwindling as the female demon didn't so much as cough out any black smoke.
"Aww, what's the matter? Can't get it up, Baby Winchester?" the female demon cooed mockingly, stepping closer to Delaney with a malicious grin on her face.
"No, but I can!" Dean snapped, appearing behind the female demon again with Sam at his side. He went to stab Randy's knife into her back, but the demon escaped from the female's mouth and out through the vent.
Dean and Sam didn't waste time in grabbing Delaney and hauling her out of the house and over to Jimmy and his daughter who huddled together near the Impala. "Where's your wife?"
"Right here!" Mrs. Novak announced, running over to the group with her daughter's jacket clutched tightly in her hands. She handed it to the little blonde girl as they all raced into the Impala to get away from the house before the demon came back for Jimmy.
That was a reallyย close call.
After finding a parking garage where they could hide for a few minutes and talk, Dean got out of the Impala with his siblings and Jimmy to talk. Amelia and Claireย โ Jimmy's wife and daughter that the Winchesters finally learned the names ofย โ sat in the back of the Impala curled up together while Amelia ran her hands soothingly over Claire's blonde hair.
"You were right," Jimmy admitted sadly, staring at his wife and daughter for a long moment before finally facing the Winchesters again. "I'm telling you, though, I don't know anything."
"I don't think they're inclined to believe you," Dean replied.
"And even if they did, you're a vessel. They're still gonna want to know what makes you tick," Delaney added in, leaning against the pillar behind her with her arms crossed. "Which means vivisection . . . if they're feeling generous. I wouldn't count on the demons feeling very generous with you."
"Delly," Sam chided lightly, not liking that she had been so harsh on Jimmy. Something that wasn't like her unless you had pissed her off. He chose to note that for later when he, Delaney and Dean were together alone. "Jimmy, you saw what happened back at your house. You're putting your family in danger. I know you want to be with them, but it's important you come with us."
Jimmy was silent as his eyes flickered back over to Amelia and Claire, a longing look on his face as he clearly did notย want to leave them a second time. He'd only just gotten them back after a whole year and he wanted to spend every second he could with them. "How long? And don't give me the cross that bridge when we get to it crap."
"Don't you get it, Jimmy? You have to come forever. The demons will never stop chasing you. You can neverย be with Amelia and Claire or you'll put them in even more danger. So, you either get away as far away from them as possible or you put a bullet through your skull, and that's how you keep your family safe, but there's no getting out and there's no going home," Delaney snapped, her annoyance and irritation flaring once again. It was getting to a point where she couldn't even stop the annoyance from dripping into her tone and her appearance through tense shoulders and narrowed eyes. The need for demon blood only tripling that feeling.
"Well, don't sugarcoat it, Della," Dean remarked, shooting his sister a look to cool it.
Delaney shrugged lamely, not feeling bad for how blunt she had been. Yet another thing that wasn't like her at all. "I'm just telling Jimmy Boy here the truth, Dean. Someone has to."
Regardless of what Dean and Sam had to say, it motivated Jimmy to say goodbye to his wife. Sam had hotwired a car for Amelia and Claire to take them back to the Novak household while Jimmy got into the car with the Winchesters. The family had shared a tearful goodbye and the second the four were in the car, Dean sped off to get them far away from Amelia and Claire before anything else happened to them.ย
The car ride had started off silent much like the first time with the rain being the only sound that filled the car. Jimmy had fallen asleep while using his trenchcoat as a pillow against the window in the back while Sam sat next to him and Delaney sat up front with Dean. She picked absently at a loose thread on her jeans and tried to keep her swinging emotions in check while she tried to focus on anything but wanting Randy to suddenly appear in the back seat and offer her another flask.
"What the hell happened back there, Della?" Dean asked, cutting across the thick silence that settled over the car. "You practically fainted trying to gank a demon."
"Okay, I didn't faint. I was getting dizzy," Delaney defended.
"Well, you can call it whatever you want. Point is, you used to be strong enough to kill Alastair. Now you can't even kill stunt demon number three?"ย
Delaney rolled her eyes and exhaled heavily, shifting her eyes over to Dean whose eyes bounced between the darkened road and his baby sister. "What do you want me to say about it, Dean?"
Dean glanced to the rearview mirror for help from Sam, but the middle Winchester merely pressed his lips together and lowered himself in his seat. Practically letting Dean take the reins on this one as usual. "For starters, what's going on with your mojo? I mean, it's yo-yoing all over the place. Now, I'm not trying to pick a fight here, okay? I justย โ you're scaring Sammy and I, baby girl."
"Yeah, well, I'm scaring myself."
Mid-way through the drive, Jimmy had gotten a call from Amelia who had been possessed by the same demon that had been inside of the female neighbor back at the Novak house. She was hiding out in the same warehouse they found Jimmy and told Jimmy to come alone, which the Winchesters would not let happen.ย
"They're expecting you to come alone," Dean said to Jimmy, stepping out of the Impala with Jimmy, Sam and Delaney outside of the warehouse. He quietly shut the driver side door and met up with Jimmy, Delaney and Sam at the trunk of the car. "That's exactly what you're gonna do."
"We'll work out way through the catwalks. We'll be right behind you," Sam promised Jimmy who nervously fixed the collar on his trench coat. "All you gotta do is stay calm and stall until we can do our job."
"You want me to stay calm? This is my family we're talking about," Jimmy barked, whipping around to face the three siblings after he'd started pacing nervously.ย
"Listen to meย โ this will work. You understand? Nobody's gonna get hurt," Dean tried to assure Jimmy, but the man didn't falter the slightest bit.
Delaney puffed out a breath and collapsed back against the side of the Impala as Jimmy stormed away, stating he needed a minute before he actually in. She had pulled her up until a ponytail to stop herself from tugging her hands nervously through it, but she still felt the urge to do just that. A nervous tick that Delaney just couldn't shake, much like biting her thumbnail. "Boys, there's no way they are expecting Jimmy to come alone. You know, this is probably a trap, right?"
"Yeah, I know. That's why I have a plan."
To say Dean's plan was a horrible idea would be an understatement. They had barely been in the building all of two minutes before they were ambushed from all sides by demons. Delaney had tried to use her abilities again, but she was too weak to take on five demons at once and they were overrun within five minutes of fighting them off. The three Winchesters were then hauled into a back storage room of the warehouse where Jimmy stood with Amelia and Claire who was tied to a chair with her chin dropped down onto her chest unconscious.ย
Delaney tried to struggle against the demon that clamped his large hand around her bicep but it was no use as he was much stronger than she was while Dean and Sam struggled against the demons that held them back. She growled in annoyance and gave up her fight against the bigger demon holding her back. "Nice plan, Dean."
"Yeah, well, nobody bats a thousand," Dean lamely replied, slapping a hand to his side.
"Got the knife?" Amelia asked in a fake sweet voice, stepping closer to the Winchesters with a wicked grin. "And you know what's funny? I was actually bummed to get this detail. Picking up an empty vessel? Sort of like a milk run. Now look who landed in my lap."
Delaney rolled her eyes at the demon, not amused with her little story and glared darkly at the demon. "Yeah, well . . . you got us, okay? Let these poor people go."
Amelia pouted mockingly at Delaney and pinched her cheek, merely laughing when Delaney slapped the hand away from her face. "Aww, Baby Winchester. It's easy to act chivalrous when your Wonder Girl powers aren't working, huh? Now for the punch lineย โ everybody dies." She raised the gun and aimed it right between Delaney's eyes, her finger going for the trigger as if she was going to pull it on Delaney. However, at the last second, Amelia turned and shot Castiel in the stomach.
Jimmy cried out in pain, instantly dropping to his knees as his hands pressed against the wound in his stomach. Blood began pool around his stark white button up shirt and he groaned in pain, hunching over.
"Waste little orphan Annie," Amelia instructed the large male holding back Delaney.
The male demon handed Delaney off to one of the other female demons that held Dean and Sam back, making his way over to Claire who was still tied up and passed out in her chair. He picked up a large pipe that lay on the ground by the chair and raised it to bring down on the little girl's head. Before he could swing the pipe, Claire's eyes snapped open and she caught the pipe that came at her head, pressing her palm to the demon's forehead. A bright white light shined out of the demon's eyes and mouth before the vessel dropped to the ground.
Once they were sure that the demon was down, the Winchesters each took on a demon that held them back. Delaney tackled the demon that held her back and brought her fist down a few times before going for Randy's knife that was tucked into the inner pocket of her jacket. Her hand wrapped tightly around the demon's throat, feeling the demon's blood pump beneath her fingers. The urge for demon blood flared once again, especially when Randy's knife cut a small gash into the demon's neck. Delaney could practically smell the demon blood float through her nostrils and she stared at the blood as it trickled onto her thumb.
No matter how much Delaney had tried to resist the urge, Delaney couldn't put up the fight any longer and bent down, sucking up the blood that pooled out of the demon's wound she'd created. She shot back up when she was satisfied and heard the sound of footsteps behind her, her head whipped around to see Dean and Sam stood behind her with wide eyes. The demon's blood stained the front of her mouth and made Delaney look like she'd been a vampire, which she was in a way. She gulped at the look that her brothers gave her and quickly turned back around, stabbing the knife into the demon's chest and killing it.
Delaney wiped at her mouth as she stood back up with Randy's knife in her hand. When she turned back around to face her brothers, she could see Amelia coming back to attack them but Delaney's hand quickly shot up. Now that she was stronger, exorcising Amelia was like blinking and the demon was exorcised out of Jimmy's wife and was sent through the floor back to Hell. "Take that you black eyed, bitch."
Dean and Sam barely gave Delaney a second glance as they helped a shaking Amelia back to her feet. They helped Amelia back over to where Jimmy was leant up against a wall with Claire crouched beside him, the name Castiel tumbling out of his mouth as he begged the angel to take him instead of Claire.
"I want to make sure you understand," Castiel said through Claire's voice, placing her tiny hand on Jimmy's shoulder. "You won't die . . . or age. If this last year was painful for you, pictured a hundredย โ a thousand more like it."
Jimmy gripped onto the front of Claire's purple zip up hoodie and, his bottom teeth stained in his blood from his his mouth. A pleading look took over his face as his breathing grew heavier by the second, clearly not having much time left before he'd surely die. "Doesn't matter. You take me. Just take me."
Castiel was quiet for a moment to give Jimmy the opportunity to take his words back. Being possessed for the rest of his never ending life was a big task and Castiel wanted to make sure Jimmy was sure since he wouldn't be able to back out after this. When Jimmy didn't move to argue, Castiel nodded once and raised his hand to press to Jimmy's cheek. "As you wish."
A bright white light shined out from Jimmy's eyes like two flashlights and then suddenly shot back into his eyes when Claire deflated. His eyes blinked a few times before he sat up straight, the usual straight face that Castiel wore on full display once again while Claire's sobs echoed around the room. He pushed himself to his feet while Amelia ran past him and over to Claire to comfort her distraught daughter.
"Cas, wait up!" Dean yelled, stopping the angel before he could get too far. "What were you gonna tell me?"
"I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean. I serve Heaven. I don't serve Man and I certainly don't serve you," Castiel replied in his usual deep, gravely voice before he turned on his heel and was gone from sight.
For how long? Guess, the Winchesters would cross that bridge when they got to it.
The ride after the warehouse was filled with a heavy silence while Delaney sat in the back and the two boys sat up front. They had both kept their gazes aheadย โ though, Dean didn't have a choice since he was drivingย โ and didn't say a single word to Delaney. Neither one had barely even lookedย at Delaney since they left the warehouse and Delaney knew it was her fault. It was because they'd actually watched her drink demon blood for the first time and now the cat was out of the bag. For the most part at least since they didn't know the full story behind it.
However, Delaney couldn't stand the silent treatment she got from her brothers any longer and couldn't stop her mouth from opening. "Alright, let's hear just it already. Drop the bomb, boys. You both saw what I did. Come on. Stop the car. Yell and scream at me till your faces are purple."
"We're not gonna yell and scream at you, Delaney," Dean replied and Delaney hated that she couldn't read Dean's tone at all since he kept it so calm. "We're not mad."
"Oh, come on. Neither one of you are mad?" Delaney remarked with a small incredulous laugh. "Right, sure. Look, at least let me explain myself."
"Don't. I don't care."
"You don't care?"
"What do you want us to sayย โ that we're disappointed, Delaney?" Sam questioned, not really askingย for a response. "We are, but mostly . . . we are just tired."
"And we're done. We're just done," Dean concluded.
Delaney sighed heavily, slouching in her seat when Dean and Sam both went silent after that. Clearly, the boys didn't want to have this conversation now . . . or possibly ever. It scared them to their core to see their baby sister in a way that they never expected her to be. This whole demon blood thing was beginning to spiral out of control and they didn't know what to do about it. However, Delaney's phone began to ring on the seat next to her and would have cut off whatever the boys would have said next anyway.
"Hey, Uncle Bobby."
"Hey, Lanes. You and your brothers better shag ass to my place ASAP."
"What's going on?" Delaney asked, sitting up as she worried something had come for Bobby and he was left vulnerable.
"The apocalypse, genius. Now, get your three asses over here."
Delaney snorted when the line beeped on the other end, signaling that Bobby had hung up on her. She locked her phone once again and tossed it onto the seat next to her, not even surprised Bobby's conversation had been so short and to the point.
"What did Bobby say?"
"Thanks for shaking a tail. Glad you got here," Bobby said to the siblings, leading them down to the basement and towards the panic room. He gestured for Delaney to open it for him and she tugged on it with a small grunt as the heavy door finally opened after a second of struggle. "Now step inside. I wanna show you something."
Delaney shrugged and stepped into the panic room, not even realizing that her brothers and Bobby hadn't stepped inside with her. She scanned the panic room for anything that looked out of place, but the room looked exactly the same as it had when they had placed Anna inside of it when they tried to locate her grace. "So, what's the big demon problem?"
"You are," Bobby replied, causing Delaney to spin around and see Bobby, Dean and Sam giving her disappointed and sad looks. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. This is for your own good."
Delaney's eyes widened as the massive door slammed shut and Bobby pulled the tiny door over the bars in the window of the door so Delaney couldn't see out of it. She ran up to the door and banged on it with her fists, shouting for the boys to let her out because she wasn't laughing. Though, no matter how loud she screamed or how hard she slammed her fists on the door, Dean, Sam and Bobby didn't respond back and the faint footsteps heading up steps could heard before a slam of the basement door.
Delaney had officially hit rock bottom and she had no one to blame but herself.
