There was a time when dragons were a common sight in the skies, creatures feared by all but the Valyrians, the only people able to tame them. At the height of their empire, men rode dragons as symbols of power until the Doom brought fire and ash, ending the age of dragons.

The Targaryens, who escaped to Dragonstone before the Doom, kept their legacy alive. Aegon the Conqueror, with his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys, forged the Seven Kingdoms under one rule. For generations, Targaryens and their dragons dominated Westeros until the Dance of the Dragons, a brutal civil war that destroyed almost all of their beasts. In time, the last dragons died, leaving only memory and bones.

The dynasty endured, but King Aerys II, the Mad King, brought ruin. Robert's Rebellion ended with his death, that of Prince Rhaegar, and the exile of the two youngest Targaryens. The throne fell to others, and dragons vanished from the world.

Far across the sea in Essos, Zaldrea lived in chains. She was merely a slave, taken as a child by slavers who found her near the ruins of Valyria. They deemed her peculiar from the start, for her striking violet eyes that many were only able to connect to the Valyrians. Her name was given to her, whether she once had another, or a family to claim her, she could never recall. As she grew older captivity they discovered that she was no ordinary girl, she had strange abilities no one else possessed and her appearance changed right in front of their eyes, something that they never noticed from when she was a child. Called witch, monster, and abomination, she was paraded around, trapped in a life she could not escape.

Her spirit flickered, close to breaking, until rumours spread of a silver-haired girl conquering cities with fire and blood. For the first time in years, Zaldrea felt hope. That hope blazed into certainty the day her eyes met another pair of violet ones, just like her own.

⸺ The way I have been cooking up this fic for about a year I think lmao but it's genuinely one of my fav asoiaf plots I have ever created and who else is it for other than my bi awakening aka Daenerys 😋 literally loved her since the first time I watched the series.

⸺ But yeah, I had to make a wuh luh wuh fic for her. No explanation is even needed. And this fic will sort of follow the series but I will chage a few things (by few I actually mean tons) cus the shows writers fucked the whole thing up. Like season 8 does not exist it was just a fever dream, my girl was supposed to live. In this fic it may be a possibility 🫦 but no spoilers
