𝓙𝓪𝓭𝓮 ✨

Another night went by with hardly any sleep. The only bits of slumber my eyes gripped onto was at the dawn. The assuring sunlight granting comfort to my sleepless body, tired mind and restless soul. At this point, it was normal and a part of my everyday life like brushing my teeth or taking a shower.

I feel so dead inside.

Struggling to detach myself from the comfort of my bed, my feet carry me towards the washroom for the day ahead.

Remembering it's Friday my mood lit up thinking about the peaceful reading time curling up on my bed. Soon it shatters. The promise I made to Ally comes back haunting me. The party I promised to attend.

I go on about my day attending classes and grunting about the party I have to attend.

Finally, it was lunch and now I can focus on my grunting without my stomach grumbling in response.

Placing my tray on our table I slide myself into one of the chairs. From my peripheral vision, I see Yoenjun saunter to make his way to the table. In no time he reaches me and quickly turns the chair around to flump.

"Where is Ally?" He queried glancing at me. I shrugged letting him know about my cluelessness.

His eyes scanned my tray, "whoa mac and cheese!" His hands fight mine and put a spoonful of the cheesy goodness in his mouth.

"Hey! Stop stealing my food. Get your own." I hit him and he raised his hands clearly accepting defeat. Right, that moment we see Allison walking to the canteen, giggling with the girls at the cheer squad.

Even though I'm seated in one place, my mind starts pacing as fast as it could. The known fear tries to clutch me in its fist, while I try my best to resist it. The fear makes me lose control over everything, keeps me wishing to have things under control. At moments like this, I feel like the only thing I know about myself is the fear.

Allison walks towards our table with her cheer group. Still talking to them and not sparing a glance at mine and Yoenjun's seated figures.

She is popular and has more friends. Of course, she needs to give time to them. 

I try to explain myself, without much luck because the fear of abandonment comes back much stronger. Thinking about my best friend forsaking me might just be enough for me to turn feral.

One of the girls from the cheer group suggested, " why don't you sit with us for lunch, Allison?" Everyone was silent and the only sound that could be heard was from the other benches.

Another girl backed her up, " Yes, lia is right! We can discuss more about the new routine."

My stomach dropped and everything started crumbling. The sun seemed to have hidden itself because my eyes perceived gloom. It got me thinking this is how it was going to be from now on until Ally spoke up, " Thank you so much I am really starving but it won't be lunch without my best friends, so I would have to decline ." She spoke with a sure smile, "Let's discuss about it on Monday, shall we?"

The girls quickly agree, some disappointed but they moved towards their table while Ally takes a seat beside me directing a smirk my way.

"Oh, Mac and Cheese! Gosh, I was craving some." She ate a spoonful without me stopping her.

"Hey! How come you hit me when I try to eat and let it slide when she does the same?" Yoenjun complained in a pout.

"You are just so dense, Yoeni!" Allison teased and we both laughed hard without Yoenjun having a clue what was that for.

I don't know who will stay and go but I could bet right now that Allison will stay by my side as long as I existed.

By the time school got over I was practically living in Ally's car. After lunch, she tossed me the key to her Porsche, " Wait for me. I'll take 10 more, I have Accounts with Mr Herbert." She informed and I just nodded.

Allison walked out of the main building with a sigh. As she walked over to the car   I questioned, " Herbert got on your nerves again?"

She looked me in the eyes, " When does he not? " she groaned but suddenly lit up with excitement. " But now we have a party to get to!"

I  groaned this time followed by a sigh.

"Don't make that noise! I'll drop you off first so we can get ready and then I can pick you up." She warned whilst describing the plan to my uninterested self.

"Okay, but I do have tons of  homework to do." I made an excuse.

Allison just looked me in the eye, without blinking while I try to defend myself, " What? I'm not lying "

" Come on, please! We both know you will be done by an hour. And we ain't leaving until seven." She asserted and I knew this topic is a lost cause.

"But I don't even have anything to wear party-appropriate. " I posited trying to fight again.

" Well, leave that to me. I've got it sorted." She smiles calmly while I was seated there confused, " Remember the two dresses I sent you to choose and you told me to surprise you, well, surprise! I ordered both and one was delivered today early in the morning." She explained.

"Ally, why did you? Two dresses? That's too much you know right?" I spoke in surprise and gratitude. I'm out of excuses now. She knows me so well.

" Oh shut it! "

"Fine "

"You are welcome."

Allison dropped me off promising to come back at 6. Waving her bye I stood in front of my house that had no life in it. Unlocking the door I walked in, shutting the main door with a loud thud which only caused me irritation. The house was hauntingly silent that one could feel themself dead as soon as they would walk in.

Or maybe it was me who was dead inside.

I was a lifeless, soulless body walking around in an empty two-story house that might as well be a graveyard.

It was nothing new to me. It has always been this silent. Dad was never actually home. Always out for his business, not one care for his family.

'Family'. I have never heard a better sarcasm in my whole life. There is no family at all. Feeling disgusted I walked upstairs to freshen up.

Entering the kitchen after to satisfy my hunger by reheating some leftover Spaghetti. I walk back to my room while chewing the food my stomach and mouth can't resist. Chewing on the food I get started with the homework for the weekend.

It was 10 minutes to 6 when  I finally shut my economics book, done with homework for this weekend. I picked up Jane Austin again since I had nothing better to do and it provided me comfort.

A sudden vibration grabbed my attention that I was about to conclude as an earthquake until the screen of my cell phone lit up. I quickly grab it thinking it was Ally texting me, to inform me about her reason for running behind time since it was past 6 now.

Unlocking the device my eyes read A text from Yoenjun.

Yoenjun: Jade, are you done with Geography? I'm stuck :(

Jade: Just finished it.

I typed back to answer his query. And in a few seconds, my screen lit up again.

Yoenjun : Help me with it later.

Before I could reply another text made it's way.

Yoenjun : what are you doing this weekend?

I texted back faster this time.

Jade: Ally is taking me to a party. *feel me rolling my eyes*

In a minute he texted back

Yoenjun : Whoa Party! That's new. I hope you enjoy your weekend then.

Yoenjun: Also going to a party with Allison, I guess 'good luck ' with that.

And just about that very moment, I heard my front door open and shut loudly and I knew it was none other than Allison. Looking at Jane Austen I groaned about how I just wanted to read my books but here I agreed to go to a party.

It's just a party though. What could possibly go wrong? My life is already such a mess, there isn't a disaster that could possibly happen. I just hope I don't regret this.
