mackenzie lowends carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. with her grades spilling, her mom being sick, and her hockey coach quitting, things are tough.

and when a new guy, who seems to hate kids almost as much as he hates hockey, is appointed as the new coach of the district five hockey teams things only seem to get worse.

and the only person she has to lean on it her best friend charile.

but the more kenzie gets to know their new coach, gordan bombay, she realizes that maybe he isn't such a bad guy, even though he does seem a bit odd, especially where she's concerned.

and it only gets harder when secrets come to light, her mom ends up in the hospital, and the dad she never knew is suddenly back in her life.

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie and charlie are best friends, and neighbors - they live in the same apartment building and their mom's are friends

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie's mom has cancer, and it's gotten worse ove the years. she does eventually end up passing away before the playoffs which effects how kenzie plays

๋࣭⭑⚝ gordan and lacey ( kenzie's mom ) went to high school together, they even dated. they got pregnant young and parted ways when she told him that she was pregnant

๋࣭⭑⚝ lacey never told kenzie anything about her dad, she refused to tell her much other then the fact that went to high school together. eventually, kenzie stopped asking

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie's been playing hockey since she was four, when lacey taught her how to skate

๋࣭⭑⚝ lacey was an ice skater

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is a decent player, one of the
best on the team

๋࣭⭑⚝ she refuses to play after bombay tried to convince the team to cheat

๋࣭⭑⚝ bombay would recognize her last name when he takes roll, but he won't say anything. but he does think that she looks like her mom

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is so excited when they buy new gear because the skates she's been using where her mother's when she was younger and they're falling apart. she has them held together by duct tape and super glue

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is the one that convinces tammy to join the team, as they are pretty good friends

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is the best skater, technic wise

๋࣭⭑⚝ gordan eventually meets up with lacy and he asks about kenzie. she tells him that she his daughter and they agree not to tell kenzie yet

๋࣭⭑⚝ when kenzie does find out, she's mad and spends a few nights with charlie and his mom

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie wears the biggest smile when they skate through the mall

๋࣭⭑⚝ charlie and his mom often have kenzie and lacey over for dinner, especially when lacey gets sicker

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is the first to actually accept the duck name, she's also the first to score in that game

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie is one of the only ones that sticks around when everyone else leaves after petey over hears bombay calling them losers when he talks to riley

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie and charlie are very slow burn, they probably wouldn't get together until the second movie, but they do admit to liking each other close to the end of the first movie

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie and bombay would start to bond before she even finds out that he's her father

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie and bombay would slowly build a relationship and once lacey passes, bombay gets custody of kenzie - when he leaves to play hockey, she can either go with him or she can stay with charlie and his mom ❪ 🕯️ ❫ or she can stay with any one of her friends

๋࣭⭑⚝ when they see the hawks players at the starz game, kenzie tried to comfort banks. she could either hold his hand or kiss his cheek or something ❪ 🕯️ ❫

๋࣭⭑⚝ when banks gets tackled, kenzie slams to boy that did it into the boards before helping the boy up, which confuses him ( banks: "what are you doing?" kenzie: "you're a duck, now, banks. i got you back." )

๋࣭⭑⚝ lacey and kenzie are very close, and kenzie worries a lot about her mom when they aren't together

๋࣭⭑⚝ kenzie carries the weight of the world on her shoulders and hockey is her release. it's how she deals with everything that's going on, she's never happier then when she's on the ice
