# YEOMI was roused by her butler since she already slept through the two alarms she set on her phone the night before. "Miss, it's time to get up." Her butler Hideo gently nudged her sleepy figure in an attempt to waken her. In response, she grasped the nearest overstuffed pillow and squished her head between it to try to block out the sound of Hideo's pacific voice.
"Just five more minutes.." Yeomi's muffled voice groaned from underneath the flocculent cushions. "Sorry ma'am, I don't have a snooze button." The brunette steward responded with a hint of a smile in his usually cool sounding voice. "Your father expects you downstairs for breakfast in half an hour." He informed her before excusing himself from her bedroom and departed down the hall, his dress shoes clacking noisily on the marble floor with every step that he took.
Yeomi finally sluggishly opened her eyes despite her heavy eyelids tempting her to close them. She sat up in her bed and yawned, silently contemplating if it was worth it to skip school again and risk getting caught. I guess I'll go, I don't want Dad to chew me out again. She decided as she rolled out of bed and ambled over to her full length mirror situated near her closet door, despite being still slightly dazed by sleep.
"Well shit." She remarked under her breath when she caught a glimpse of her terribly tangled hair in the mirror. After seeing the messy state her hair was in, Yeomi spent the next ten minutes tirelessly detangling the knots in her hair.
Now what to wear...? She wondered to herself as she glided through her closet door and perused the choices of outfits that were hung up on the racks in an orderly color coded fashion. "No. No. No. Definitely not." Yeomi commented on each article of clothing as she skimmed through the long rack of garments on the left side of the closet.
"Now this is more like it." She grinned and picked out the loose fitting cargo jeans that caught her eye, along with a baggy t-shirt that she found. "And this too." Yeomi added as she picked up a simple tape belt that was hung up on the wall opposite from her.
She briskly slipped into the outfit she chose for herself. The soft cotton of the white shirt felt comfortably cold against her warm skin. Yeomi slung one strap of her backpack over her right shoulder and stepped out of her bedroom to travel downstairs.
She placed her hand carefully on the gold plated railing that spiraled downwards to the first story. She excitedly hopped onto the railing and slid on it all the way down to the ground floor.
"You better not be sliding on the banister again!" A firm voice, that Yeomi instantly recognized as her father, called out from the dining room. "Of course not!" She lied with a small grin on her face as she jumped off of the handrail and strode towards the dining area.
When she entered the room, Yeomi was instantly welcomed with a rush of toasty air that smelt of chocolate chip pancakes with warm butter, which was one of her favorite meals to have in the morning. She eagerly took the seat opposite of her father at the lengthy table and promptly began munching on the food on her plate.
"Did you sleep well?" Her dad asked queried after taking a long sip of coffee from his navy blue ceramic mug, that Yeomi recalled making sometime in her elementary school years. "Yesh." She answered, her words slightly incoherent because of all the pancakes she shoveled into her mouth. She paused for a moment to swallow her food before continuing with the conversation.
"Anyways, where's Mom?" She questioned, although she already expected the answer she was going to receive. "She's on another business trip, but she'll be back on Thursday." Her dad casually responded. One of her parents were almost always out of town and Yeomi couldn't even remember the last time they did something together as a family.
"Ah, alright." Yeomi frowned and played with the pancake chunks remaining on her plate. "I just wish we could be like a real family again." Her father placed his coffee cup on the placemat in front of him before replying. "I know what you mean sweetie, but it's not like you make that much of an effort with the family either."
Yeomi furrowed her brow and gripped her fork angrily in an attempt to calm herself down. "What is that supposed to mean?" Her dad looked mildly surprised at the harshness in her voice and waited a moment to choose the right words to respond with before speaking.
"Well you haven't really acted the same ever since your grandfa-" Her father began, but Yeomi quickly stood up from her seat, the chair squeaking loudly on the marble floor as it skidded backwards. "Don't bring him up." She warned, her vexation instantly turning into heartache after he father spoke. "Just, please don't."
Before her dad could apologize, she turned on her heel and exited the dining room. Yeomi swiftly snatched her backpack, which was hanging on a hook in the coat room and rushed towards the front door to head to school. "Leaving already?" Hideo asked with a confused tone as he held the door open for the her and was only acknowledged with a stiff nod. "We weren't expecting you to leave already, so we haven't gotten the car ready for you. I can tell your chauffeur to-"
"No it's alright. I want to walk." Yeomi interrupted him and left the house without another word. She walked quickly despite the cold breeze biting at her neck and hoped that the journey would help her cool her head.
