Chapter 39
Re-cap
You sighed with bated breath, "I'm sorry, Alia, yes. I...I bonded with BTS Kim Seokjin ... ARMY' Mr Worldwide handsome. He...he is my destined soulmate---"
You watch, as if in slow motion, as Alia leaps from her position on the bed and launches at you.
.....
Before you could even process what was happening, Alia pounced on you. With her usual energy, she pinned you down like a wrestler, her knee pressing into your back and a handful of your hair firmly in her grip. You screeched, sounding more like a dying seagull than a human.
"Aliaaa! You're hurting me!" you shrieked, squirming.
"Good! This is what you get for betraying me, you little brat!" Alia snarled through gritted teeth. Her grip was unforgiving as you struggled, but she didn't budge. She was livid—and honestly, you couldn't blame her. You'd hidden that BTS's Worldwide Handsome, Kim Seokjin, was your soulmate. Bonded. Mated. Officially. And now, here you were, paying the price.
"I'm sorry, Alia! I was scared! You're a certified BTS ARMY! I thought you'd lose your mind," you whined, voice muffled as she shoved your face into the mattress like she was reenacting an action movie as if she were trying to flatten you into a pancake.
She snorted in disbelief. "Lose my mind? Sami, I shared my first intimate experience with you! But you? You bond with BTS's Worldwide Handsome, and you say nothing?! Miss Flipped India strikes again!" She shoved you down one last time before finally letting you sit up.
She huffed dramatically, giving you a furious, pointed look.
You scrambled upright, your hair a chaotic mess, looking at her furious demeanour—arms crossed over her torso, narrowed eyes blazing.
Alia's eyes were in slits on your flustered face and messy hair. Your eyes were filled with regret and sadness.
....
You stood quietly before her, "Ali, you're my best friend, my sister. Of course, I wanted to tell you, but I had to keep it secret! Seokjin and I are figuring this out quietly. Even his family, management, and the other members don't know. How could I blurt it out to you?" Tears stung your eyes as you pleaded, "I need you to understand. I couldn't risk ruining everything. What am I supposed to do? I...I just wanted to get to know my soulmate as a normal, average guy, not this global star. Ali...please understand...I need you," Your eyes started to tear up. You don't want to lose your friend.
Alia sighed profoundly and looked in your red, blotchy eyes filled with tears and regret. You grab her on her arm to get her to understand.
"Please, Ali, what would you have done if you were in my shoes, practically dating a boy that a million girls want? Wouldn't you want to keep it secret?" You stare at her with a serious tone. She needs to understand how you feel even on the brink of losing your soulmate to an arranged marriage, and the girl doesn't want to let him go.
Alia stared at your tearful face, her anger melting just a little. She sighed heavily. "Sami...I'm sorry," she said softly before abruptly pulling you into a hug.
But then, she pulled back, her eyes suddenly wide. "Wait. Wait. WAIT! You bonded with your ultimate bias?!" She gasped so dramatically you worried she'd choke. "You weren't even a real ARMY before! Do you even understand how lucky you are?!"
Then her eyes lit up with excitement, and you groaned because you could practically see what was happening in her mind.
"Oh my goodness! Do you know what your connection could mean for you and us?! I'm going to meet Jungkook. OMG!!!" She started bouncing like a hyperactive bunny.
Your jaw dropped, "No, Alia! Seokjin would never let Jungkook anywhere near someone like you. You'd go full fangirl mode, and Jungkook would slap you with a restraining order."
Alias eyes were sparkling as she fell before you on her knees and, her hands in a pleading mode," Common Sami! Just once. We might not get those precious tickets for their fan meet. Do you know what a rat race it is to get tickets to any BTS concert or fan meet? God blessed us by giving you the hyung! He can open so many doors for us... discreetly"
You shook your head," No, Ali! Do you hear yourself? Jungkook is a high scholar. Do you know how creepy that sound? I can't use my soulmate for those types of BTS favours?"
Alia chuckled," Sami, you bonded and settled the bond. Seokjin will do anything to make you happy. And I won't give you a tough or embarrassing revenge week." She waggled her brows suggestively.
You gave her a deadpan look." Oh, really. Your revenge weeks are always humiliating to me, and now that you know about Jin, you're going to exploit me---" you sigh deeply.
There's no way to win against Alia. Why did God bless you with such an extroverted best friend? You were already dreading how she'd embarrass you. And with Seokjin's last on campus next week, you wanted to spend every moment with him—but now, with Alia in the loop, fat chance.
Alia smirked, "Okay, I promise this revenge week will be fascinating. I just want to meet Kookie... and, of course, your soulmate. Gosh, it's so surreal!" her eyes shone like jewels.
You sighed in defeat. "Alia, the last time you got revenge, you made me wear traditional bridal clothes to campus for two days. I will never live that down."
Alia giggled at the thought of you parading in bridal wear, "That's because you didn't tell me you were entering Miss India! Everyone only found out when you popped up on TV during the regional judging and made it to the top 20."
You pressed your lips together tightly, "But Ali, you made me wear full bridal attire* —with all the gold jewellery in my hair and face. My family thought I was going through some bizarre heartbreak! 'Because Mukhi got married, and I didn't even have a boyfriend. I was having a mental breakdown.'Even my entire class thought I was trying to get ideas for our seasonal fashion design show, and some of the guys thought I was auditioning for the Bollywood remake of 'The Bride Who Never Married," you muttered.
Alia burst into laughter, remembering how much attention you received, "And don't forget the guys on campus giving you flowers and asking you to marry them! It was hilarious, but seriously, you looked fabulous."
She grinned mischievously, "Fine, I'll cut revenge week short—if I can meet your 'hot' soulmate. And I want all the details: how you met, where you bonded, and—why you didn't end up pregnant with WWH's secret love child." Her smirk grew as your eyes widened in horror.
"Seriously, Ali? Why would I ever tell you those details?" you asked, throwing your hands up in exasperated.
"Simple! I'm your best friend, and of cause youre too innocent and might not know how to handle that sexy boy and I need insider secrets about BTS—especially if Jungkook is dating anyone..." Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she clapped her hands together.
Meanwhile, you fell back onto the bed with a groan. Alia was relentless, like a dog with a bone.
You closed your eyes and sighed deeply, "Fine. But revenge week has to be only two days, and we cannot risk Seokjin's girlfriend getting more tea on us. I'll let you meet Seokjin—he actually wants to meet you, too. But not Jungkook. He can't lie under pressure and would spill everything to the others. Instead, Seokjin suggested Jungkook could personally sign some new merch for you. How's that for a compromise?" You let the bait drop.
Alia's eyes lit up like fireworks. She pounced on you, smothering you with wet, obnoxious kisses, "That is so amazing, Sami! This is the best! I'll meet Jin face-to-face and get exclusive signed merch from Kookie. Life is perfect!" Her eyes look dreamingly.
You wiped your cheek in annoyance, "Yeah, great. But Jin and I actually need your help as a cover. I can't meet him at uni with Noodles tracking his soulmate like a heat-seeking missile." You frowned at the thought.
Alia's expression darkened, but her voice was smug. "Leave Noodles to me. That pretentious brat had it coming after she humiliated me last time. She'll wish she never crossed us. Now spill the tea—tell me everything!"
You inhaled deeply. "Well, it all started when you broke your phone—"
.....
You and Alia went to sleep late that night, she was so excited and wanted every tiny little detail of your meeting with the hot hyung.
The next morning you were so tired and almost didn't get out of bed. Your soulmate tried to text you the previous evening but you couldn't get on your phone because Alia would've want to scan every text message you got from Jin. Your text messages was let say not for the faint -hearted. Luckily you and Seokjin had special names for each other.
After you've heard about Noodle and Alias confrontation you were scared to show your face on campus next to Alia. Noodle will try again especially if she knows Seokjin left her during their family dinner to spent the night with his 'new girlfriend' Alia. Her knives will be out for your friend.
You only sent your soulmate few love affirmations.
You were on the bus the morning early, the glee on Alias face made you feel more uncomfortable. She was texting you even while you were sitting next to each other.
You gave her a deadpan look,"Seriously Alia...didn't we discussed it last night."
Alia smirk mischievously and wrote:
-But you didn't tell me how many times you messed around between the million dollar silk sheets...did you spray Indian frankincense and myrrh.😘🥰😜
You narrowed your eyes at her teasing mode and wrote back
You: I should've never tell you about the settling stage...now I know I'll never live it down-🤨🙄
Ali-Ugh common Sami...it's so exciting better than the national scandal of your aunt Aishwarya and her abusive boyfriend. 😉
You: I'm not going to tell you anything ever again. Go read about BTS in the Korean Dispatch. And I'm not going to give you a scoop about who Jungkook had a crush on at school.😈
Ali- Do you want a full blown revenge.🤔
You: I knew it! You are planning a whole embarrassing show for me. Ali remember weren't not in India.
Ali: Precisely! We are in the kpop world. It will be fun. You'll see. But you need to be punished.
You groan as you look at her, whincing. Nothing happened this morning so you wonder what Ali has up her sleeve.
....
You reached the campus entrance in no time, but your nerves were a wreck as you slung your backpack over your shoulder. Alia, on the other hand, was practically bouncing with excitement, a giddy grin plastered across her face as you climbed the grand stairs leading to the Korean Language and Culture faculty.
"Come on, Alia... tell me what you're planning!" you whined, trailing behind her. Her small giggles only made you more suspicious.
The moment you stepped into the culture classroom, your jaw dropped. A crowd of your classmates surrounded your desk, all wearing amused expressions. At the back of your chair stood a life-sized cutout of Seokjin, looking impossibly handsome in one of his commercials.
Your mouth fell open as applause erupted. Your table was covered in Seokjin memorabilia—mugs, posters, photocards, keychains, even toys. You turned, wide-eyed, to a smug-looking Alia. Daphne and Shruti stood next to the cutout, their faces lit with mischievous smirks.
To call the moment embarrassing was the understatement of the century. Sakura and Megan fanned themselves dramatically as they took in your stunned expression.
"Oh my goodness, Sami! Alia told us last night that you're the biggest Seokjin fan ever and that you started a Seokjin fan club. This is amazing!" Megan gushed.
Sakura clapped her hands in excitement. "This is such a great idea! Our own BTS fan club at Konkuk! Daphne even made a TikTok account where we can unbox merch and sign up new ARMYs!"
You raised an eyebrow and slowly turned to Alia, who waggled her eyebrows at you smugly.
Alia's smirk deepened, her whole demeanour screaming mischief. The gleam in her eye made one thing clear: you were doomed.
"Well, Sami," Alia leaned closer, arms crossed, her voice a conspiratorial whisper, "you should've told me about you know what from the start. Now, you leave me no choice but to unleash Revenge Week 2.0: Jin Edition."
You groaned, already regretting every decision that had led to this moment.
The room erupted with fits of laughter and chants of "All hail Seokjin!" Sabine joined in with a giggle, adding, "All hail Seokjin-oppa!" You shot her a pointed look, but she just laughed harder.
Your cheeks flushed beetred as you imagined the photos flooding their social media. You didn't even want to think about who might see them. Seokjin will have a field day.
Luckily, Ms Chen was surprisingly relaxed about the whole ordeal, though her amused smirk made you suspect she might secretly be an ARMY.
Turning to your still-giggling friends, you said flatly, " Very funny. For all this public humiliation, I'm keeping all this merch." Without hesitation, you opened your bag and began stuffing in mugs, keychains, posters, toys, T-shirts, photocards, and CDs. Your friends stared, stunned.
Ms Chen smirked, though she didn't say a word. Just grinning at her desk.
Alia grinned smugly. "Oh, don't think this is over. Brace yourself," she said smugly.
The quiz had barely begun when the classroom door opened, and a staff member from the cafeteria walked in carrying a large tray. The aroma of Korean food filled the room, making everyone's mouths water.
The man bowed politely to Ms Chen, who looked up in surprise, "Sorry to interrupt, ma'am," he said, scanning a receipt, his brows furrowed, "Er...We have an exclusive order for... Samiya Dholakia.Ten dishes, all inspired by her favourite meals from Eatjin -program."
The room erupted into laughter as the quiet boys burst out snickering. Your cheeks burned so red you could've been mistaken for a tomato.
Alia, unfazed, waved at the staff member. "Oh, hi! That's for my friend. Today's her special Seokjin Day. Thanks so much!"
You groaned, throwing your hands over your face, "Alia, what the hell!"
Shruti jumped up to help the staff member with the tray, while Alia turned to Ms Chen with her signature puppy-dog expression.
"Ms Chen, can we sample Seokjin's dishes after the quiz? Sami wants us to celebrate our new BTS fan club...Ma'am can also join our club as part of our cultural appreciation!..." Alia said sweetly.
The class clapped and cheered enthusiastically, leaving you to sit there in mortified silence.
.....
You couldn't say anything because it was your revenge week. So you just had to suck it up. Now and ever you want to be with your soulmate. You missed him so much as you felt your heart ache. You just felt a dullness in your emotions almost a detached , deflation and you know your soulmate went through some mental stress and the fact that he is writing an exam paper today.
You can't imagine the amount of inner stress he is going through, while dealing with his soulmate status, his impending engagement, Potential backslash from antis and haters if his status is revealed. Luckily you don't have to reveal anything to your media. You felt his discomfort and you feel so sad that you couldn't be with him before he wrote his first paper.
You start sending positive energy to him, you think about your happy moments together so he can tapped into your euphoric emotions. It might energised him and help him to focus.
You discreetly send him a text.
I love you. Fighting😘🥰😍
......
After an exciting culture class filled with laughter and food, everyone indulged in sampling some of Eatjin's famous dishes, lovingly prepared by the cafeteria staff.
Sabine borrowed the Seokjin cutout and placed it outside the classroom. Within minutes, a frenzy of ARMY students from other classes gathered, snapping selfies and taking pictures with it. You watched with a mix of amusement and dread, thinking about how quickly these fans could transform into detectives if they caught a hint about your status. The idea sent shivers down your spine.
You reminded yourself there was only a year left of your postgraduate studies, thanks to the credits you'd already earned. Alia and you decided to add a year of Korean language studies to your majors. Sabine and Shruti would continue for two years, while Daphne planned to finish her studies this year and jump into a full-time job.
As you headed to the cafeteria, your phone buzzed with a message.
Jin:
Darling, I love you so much. Please meet me in our office. What do you feel like eating? 😍
You:
Okay, I'll see you soon. I'm craving sushi and bubble tea. 😊😘
Jin:
Please hurry! I miss you.😘
You:
I'm on my way.🤭
The wide smile on your face didn't go unnoticed by Alia, who smirked knowingly.
"I'm so jealous right now," she murmured.
You chuckled softly. "He's a bit stressed out. He's writing two papers today and just needs a little invigorating energy."
Alia practically squealed, "Omg! It's so romantic. My best friend gets to spend time with Worldwide Handsome," she sighed dreamily, while the others remained blissfully unaware where you walked at the comfortable pace behind them.
Alia, quick on her feet as always, turned to the group. "Hey, guys! Sami needs to check on her registration for the Business MBA subject. The professor asked her to swing by."
You flashed her a grateful smile, appreciating her quick cover-up.
Shruti pouted, "Aw, but it's 50% off at the cafeteria! Want me to order something for you?"
You hesitated, but Alia jumped, "Don't worry, I'll grab her favorite fish burger. Go on, Sami, don't keep the professor waiting!"
She gestured with her eyes for you to leave, and you didn't waste another second. You waved goodbye to your friends and made a beeline for the shortcut near the library.
Seokjin had given you a key, and you decided to use the back entrance to the old library admin offices—a quiet, hidden spot where you could meet without interruptions.
.....
Meanwhile
The four friends found a table near the food stalls. The faculty cafeteria was still mostly empty, save for a couple of professors sitting quietly in the far corner.
As they discussed what to order, they were interrupted by two very pretty girls approaching their table. Shruti and Daphne exchanged worried glances—rumours about "Seokjin's girlfriend" were still fresh in everyone's minds.
Alia's eyebrows furrowed into a deep scowl. Was this about to turn into yet another drama?
Joy, a friend of "Noodle," stepped forward and addressed Alia, "Can we have a quick word with you—" she gestured to go outside and talk.
Noodle, standing beside her with a face full of hostility, interrupted. "It's urgent, Alia Bhatt!"
Alia let out an exaggerated sigh, clearly unimpressed. Her friends, wide-eyed, took in the sight of the two stylish yet intimidating Korean girls, who looked ready to declare war.
Alia crossed her arms and deadpanned, "Can I at least eat in peace first?"she looked at the two girls with raised eyebrows.
Noodle's teeth clenched as she hissed, "You'll survive without food. Your future on this campus, might not...."
The group collectively gasped at the open threat, but Alia remained unfazed. With a dramatic eye-roll, she rose from her seat with an almost theatrical antics.
"Here we go again, another k-drama," she muttered, turning to her snickering friends, "Guys, order me a hot and spicy Cajun chicken salad, a cola tonic, or make it stronger a bottle soju and some hot dumplings. Lately, I've been feeling very... Chinese." She shot them a mock salute, making them snicker, before following the two grim-faced girls. They look as if they are on the war path.
As they walked away, Alia grinned mischievously at Noodle, "So... are you planning to beat me up? Because honestly, I'm totally up for that!"
Noodle's face turned into a frustrated scowl, and Alia smirked, clearly enjoying the reaction. She is going to enjoy riling this brat up.
.......
When you reached the white office door and gave it your signature, knocked before you knew it, the door flew open, and you were pulled inside and pressed against it.
You shrieked, startled, as your soulmate started kissing you with unbridled passion. You smile into his kiss attack, snake your arms around his broad shoulders, and begin to kiss him back with more fervour.
You were breathing heavily when he lifted his head, looking into your amused eyes.
" Darling, I miss you so much, "his voice cracked as he pulled you deeper into his arms, where you felt safe.
"I miss you too, Seokjinnie...don't worry; I'm here for you," you whispered gently, caressing his back softly. Jins' chin was nestled in the curve of your neck, and you felt his soft, warm lips press kisses into your softness.
He lifted his head and looked deep into your concerned eyes because you could tap into his inner distress. His eyes seemed moist, and you knew your soulmate was in severe agony.
"Mia...I need you. Please hold me and never let go 'cause I feel underwater..."
The way he desperately pulled you tighter against him made you realise his deep cry, his vulnerability. You realised that you had reached a crossroads in your relationship.
