2.2 | Sibling Wars

Two days later, Morticia and Gomez were walking down the hall with the newest Addams member, Thing crawling ahead of the loving couple. "I've arranged a little surprise, my dearest. I hope you like it," Gomez told his wife. Thing crawled to a door and pushed it open revealing a very creepy and dark looking nursery. "Oh, Gomez. It's dark, it's depressing, it's desolate," Morticia expressed in awe. "It says 'toddler'," Gomez replied to her. "It's a dream," Morticia complimented. "Come, cara mia," Gomez gestured to the cradle that was in the centre of the room, a collection of knives hanging from the ceiling near it.

"The Addams cradle," Morticia spoke in awe as she placed their baby boy down. The Addams baby was not like normal babies which is to be expected of this kooky family however, he had a moustache similar to Gomez' but smaller. The baby began to cry and Morticia set down a terrifying looking bear in front of him, she pulled the string causing the bear to roar which made the Addams baby giggle. "Welcome home, my son," Gomez cooed with joy, the two looking down at their newest son with smiles on their faces. Baby Addams giggled and cooed as he looked up at his parents, they had high hopes for this little one, that's for sure.

Meanwhile, Wednesday and Pugsley were sitting on the stairs sawing through the railing while Lillith stood at the bottom of the stairs with an unamused expression on her face. "That isn't true," Lillith told her beloved. "It is so, ma précieuse. You have no siblings, consider yourself lucky. But everyone knows it. When you have a new baby, one of the other children has to die," Wednesday explained to his girlfriend. "Really?" Pugsley asked with wide eyes. "It's a tradition. One of us has to go," Wednesday informed his little brother. "Which one?" Pugsley asked hesitantly. "Well, they only need one younger child. Besides, I'm the only one with a girlfriend and a means to continue the bloodline," Wednesday replied.

Lillith looked at Wednesday wide eyed before she shook her head, Pugsley gulped before he began cutting the railing faster than he was. "Oh Pug, don't worry. Nothing needs to happen to either of you. An additional sibling isn't a competition," Lillith assured the boy, stepped up next to him and ruffling his hair. "Now if you boys will excuse me, I have errands to run," Lillith continued as she turned around to leave, Wednesday watched for a moment. "Keep working!" Wednesday demanded his brother before he got up to follow behind Lillith, snatching her waist and pulling her against him. "And where was my goodbye kiss?" Wednesday asked her.

Later that evening, the adults and Lillith stood around the cradle looking down at the new Addams baby. "He has my fathers eyes," Gomez commented with a fond smile. "Gomez, take those out of his mouth," Morticia told her husband who chuckled before doing as his wife requested. "Coochie-coo!" Fester cooed at the baby. Neither of them had noticed that Wednesday and Pugsley were standing by the doorway. "Look at him, he is absolutely adorable, Morticia. So, so cute," Lillith said as she reached her hand out, the baby reached his own hand and wrapped his little fingers around her ring finger with a giggle. "Who's the best boy ever?" Lillith cooed at the baby.

"A baby in the house, it's about time. Hey, Kiddo," Grandmama wriggled her finger at the baby, a blast of fire shot at them and a flaming arrow whizzed up into the ceiling. "Did you see that?" Morticia gushed. "He's certainly special, aren't you, little guy?" Lillith cooed with pride. Wednesday plucked one of the toys from the room and twisted its head off before handing it to Pugsley. He watched as his girlfriend gushed over his new brother, giving the baby all of her attention rather than showering him with it. He wouldn't let the baby take her from him, it was a ridiculous thought but anyone who knew Wednesday Addams understood that he was possessive of what he claimed as his.

It was after dinner and Lillith sat in the room she shared with Wednesday reading "Letters to a Young Poet" by Rainer Maria Rilke while Wednesday was elsewhere alongside Pugsley. The two brothers were on the roof of the home, Wednesday held the baby while Pugsley was holding a cannonball. "Pugsley, the baby weighs ten pounds. The cannonball weighs twenty pounds. Which will hit the stone walkway first?" Wednesday asked his little brother. "I'm still on fractions," Pugsley replied with a frown. "Which one do you think?" Wednesday asked again. "The cannonball?" Pusgley guessed with a shrug.

"Very good. But which one will bounce?" Wednesday quizzed. "The baby?" Puglsey answered though his response was more of a question rather than an answer. "There's only one way to find out," Wednesday replied with a deadly smirk on his face, "Ready?" Wednesday held the baby over the edge of the roof while Pugsley held the cannonball. "One... two... three!" Wednesday counted down before the two let both the baby and the cannonball drop from their hands. They looked over the edge watching as the cannonball fell quicker however, both cringed as a flow of red mist formed around the baby stopping him mid air in front of their parents' window. The cannonball however, had fallen on Lurch's head but he was unbothered and continued his task of spraying the house.

Meanwhile inside, Gomez stood by the window prior to the kids dropping the baby and cannonball. "What a glorious evening," Gomez expressed happily. "Rain," Morticia added softly. Gomez' attention was caught when the baby slowed to a stop in front of the window, he looked up first before focusing on the red mist protecting the baby. "Cara mia!" Gomez exclaimed as he quickly took the baby into his hands and bought him back into the home. "Oh dear," Morticia gasped with a frown, she was glad that the young witch lived with them but they couldn't rely on her to protect the baby against her other two boys; something had to be done.

Lillith stood by the living room doorway, her arms crossed with a frown on her face that Wednesday wanted to be rid of; he just wanted to see her smile but he knew that it wouldn't happen as she was upset with his actions. "Children, why do you hate the baby?" Gomez asked his two children as he stood in front of them. "We don't hate him. We just want to play with him," Pugsley replied innocently, he was just listening to his big brother, he didn't want to die yet. "Especially his head," Wednesday added with a smirk on his face, the words made Lillith glare at him before she turned away from his gaze; she knew that would hit him harder than any expression of disappointment which it did as he frowned.

"Children, do you think we love the baby more than we love you?" Gomez questioned his sons. "Yes," They both replied. "Do you think that when a new baby arrives one of the other children has to die?" Morticia asked next. "Yes," They both replied once again. "Well, that's just not true... not anymore," Grandmama spoke up with a grin on her face, Lillith smiled slightly before the frown came back. "It's just sibling rivalry. Gomez, do you remember what we were like? I hated you!" Fester exclaimed happily after scoffing. "I despised you!" Gomez replied. "I choked him til he lost consciousness and had to be put on a respirator," Fester continued with a chuckle.

"I tied him to a tree and pulled out four of hus permanent teeth!" Gomez told the family with pride. "When he was asleep, I opened his skull and removed his brains!" Fester finished off making Gomez falter. "You did?" Gomez questioned him. "Brother!" Fester exclaimed through laughter. "Brother!" Gomez repeated before he flipped Fester onto the wall so he was upside down, he grabbed some knives and threw them so they outlined his body. "Children, you see," Fester turned his eyes to the two boys, Pugsley had watched amused while Wednesday kept his gaze on Lillith as she walked up the stairs with her hips swaying as punishment to the eldest son of the Addams'.

The next day, Wednesday and Pugsley were playing with their guillotine. Wednesday was in a bad mood as Lillith had slept with her back to him all night, whenever he tried to hold her, she was use her magic to push him away until he got the message resulting in a restless sleep with no pleasurable afterburn of a headache or ill feeling. So of course, his blaming the baby for this rather than taking responsibility over his own unjustified actions. "Death! Death to the enemies of the people of the Republic!" Wednesday exclaimed before Pugsley released the rope and the guillotine sliced a watermelon in half. "Hurrah! Just is served. Bring forward the Evil One," Wednesday ordered.

Wednesday raised the guillotine blade as Pusgley bought the baby over in a wagon, the eldest Addams son turned to look at the baby. "You have betrayed the people of France. You are evil incarnate. How do you plead?" Wednesday asked. "Guilty!" Pugsley answered in a high pitched voice on behalf of the baby. "Guilty! By her own admission. The sentence is death. Executioner, place her on the block!" Wednesday commanded, Pugsley put the baby on the bench, his head placed position for the guillotine blade to slice through his neck. "One... two--" Wednesday's countdown was interrupted by Morticia calling out, "Children, what are you doing up there?'

"Playing!" Both Wednesday and Pugsley replied to him in unison. "Three!" Wednesday released the rope and the bladr fell towards the baby but before it could chop his head off, the baby grabbed the blade in between his fingers with a small smirk. "Woe to the Republic," Wednesday deadpanned as he glared at the baby. "Boys, what are you doing?" Lillith asked as she walked into the room, she was brushing her hands down the apron she wore as she had been baking with Grandmama and Lurch. "Nothing, ma précieuse," Wednesday replied as he stood up and stepped in front of her, he smiled down at her as she looked up.

Wednesday chuckled as he reached up and wiped some chocolate from the side of Lillith's mouth. "Someone's been eating the food before it's done," Wednesday teased making Lillith roll her eyes with a shy smile. "It's not my fault that cookie batter is good," Lillith replied when she heard the baby's coos. "What the?" Lillith tried to look around Wednesday but he grabbed her hips and pulled her closer with a pout. "Am I still in trouble?" Wednesday asked but Lillith raised a brow at him, she placed her hand against his chest and pushed him aside spotting the baby underneath the guillotine blade. "Oh my Persphone!" Lillith exclaimed, she rushed over and pulled the rope lifting the blade.

Once the blade was safely locked in place, Lillith picked the baby up into her arms and rocked him slightly as she looked him over for any harm. "Wednesday," Lillith's voice was stern causing Pugsley to stand tall. "Better him then me, I'm out," Pugsley told them before quickly rushing out of the room leaving a slightly anxious Wednesday alone with an upset Lillith. Wednesday didn't fear much in the world but his love, he feared her and he loved it; she was the only one who could put him in his place and that's how he likes it. "Were you trying to kill your brother?" Lillith asked him. "Maybe..." Wednesday mumbled back as he avoided her scowl.

"What is with you? Why do you hate your brother so much?" Lillith asked as she placed the baby into his baby wagon. "Why do you like him so much?" Wednesday snapped back though he turned his eyes away when Lillith turned to him with a raised brow challenging him to snap at her again. "Wednesday, are you jealous?" Lillith asked as a smirk appeared on her face, Wednesday crossed his arms with a pout as he turned away. "You give him all of your attention," Wednesday whined, "You keep saying his adorable and the best boy." Lillith was amused listening to his whining, the clear jealousy that she knew he didn't need to be feeling.

"Oh, you poor, poor baby," Lillith teased making Wednesday scoff before he sat down on the armchair with a huff. Lillith turned the baby's wagon to watch her magic create a story about two sparrows away from Wednesday and Lillith. "Such a needy boy," Lillith continued making Wednesday groan, his pout becoming more visible as he turned his head away and closed his eyes. Lillith walked up and straddled Wednesday, she slid her hands from his stomach to his chest causing his arms to unfold and move to hold her waist. Lillith's hands slipped to rest on either side of Wednesday's neck forcing his eyes to lock with her own gaze.

"Wednesday, you have no need to feel any jealousy towards your brother," Lillith spoke softly as she smiled, "He is an adorable baby whether or not you believe it." Lillith leaned in and kissed Wednesday softly, pulling away before he could deepen the kiss. "Now listen to me, your brother is a baby and they deserve some attention too. It's the excitement of a new member of the family but it doesn't mean I've forgotten about you, mon âme," Lillith assured as she moved her hands to his face, "I love you, forever and eternally. You are mine, my man, my heart, my soul. So no matter who I give attention to, you are the most important." Wednesday swooned at her words, they were what he needed to hear.

"Is this what I have to worry about, Wednesday?" Lillith asked making Wednesday crease his brow in confusion prompting Lillith to continuing, "When we have children, mon âme. When I give our children attention, will you be trying to kill them for my attention?" Wednesday perked up completely at her words, he hadn't realised that Lillith had been thinking about their future like this. "I would never harm our children, ma précieuse," Wednesday quickly assured her, his hands tightened on her waist. "Then think of your brother as practice... I am. I've never been around babies or children, this is me learning," Lillith told him before she leaned in and kissed him.

Wednesday deepened the kiss, he pulled Lillith closer than before as his mind created images of them with their own family once again. As Lillith pulled away, she kissed his nose lightly before she got up and walked over to the baby. "Now, let's get you back to your momma," Lillith cooed at the baby as she lifted him up, the red magic fading away. "I'll see you later, Wednesday," Lillith assured her boyfriend before she moved the baby to her left side, she made her way out of the room. The baby looked over Lillith's shoulder directly at Wednesday, he stuck his tongue out at his older brother before smirking and snuggling into Lillith's shoulder. Wednesday frowned, his eyes narrowed at him; this was far from over.

Rosemary Speaks. . .

Yes, Lillith! Walk him like a dog!!

Honestly, I find the idea of Wednesday competing with a baby for Lillith's attention absolutely hilarious and adorable.
