1.5 | Feel The Music

Fester was sound asleep with Thing resting on his side, Gomez looked down at him and smiled fondly at the sight of them both. Gomez tried to pick Thing up from his brother however, Fester was quick to grab Gomez' hand, flinging him to the floor before holding a knife to his throat. "Breakfast?" Gomez asked his brother as he flipped them over, "Damn, it's good to have you back. Let's go." Gomez stood up and went to exit the room when he turned around and said, "Two out of three?" Gomez threw the knife and it landed right next to Fester's head.

Down the hall, Wednesday woke from his slumber, uncrossing his arms and sitting up with a yawn. He looked around before deciding to get dressed straight away, he quickly showered in his own bathroom before putting on some casual clothes that consisted of black jeans, a black button up and his usual black leather shoes. As he was putting on his rings, he looked up at his reflection and thought about the night before with Lillith, he felt. . . Warm as he remembered the night before. Colour tinged in his cheeks and the boy quickly styled his hair hoping that the brunette would like it.

Across the hall, Lillith woke up with a quiet hum due to the sun shining in her eyes. The girl sat up and smiled as she remembered the night before with Wednesday, he had read to her until she was peacefully asleep and she had no nightmares upon his exit. Lillith got up and stepped into the spare rooms bathroom, she had a quick shower before brushing her teeth. Her outfit choice of the day was a red and black plaid skirt, a black shirt with long sleeves and her usual boots. She brushed her hair and let it air dry, pulling on her bracelets and rings before throwing the covers over the bed in an attempt to make it look neat.

Three light taps on her door pulled her attention, she brushed down her skirt before walking over to the door and opening it to reveal Wednesday standing before her with his arms clasped behind his back and his head high in confidence. Lillith was slightly starstruck by the way he looked, her heart hammered in her chest as she checked him out. While she had seen many attractive people in the world, something about Wednesday Addams seemed to stand out greatly. Even he was in the same boat as he looked down at Lillith Whitley, his eyes lingering a little too long on her legs before flicking back to her eyes.

"Good morning, Wednesday," Lillith greeted him politely. "Morning, Lillith," Wednesday replied however, he held a smirk on his face having noticed the way she checked him out causing him to puff out his chest with pride. "Can I help you?" Lillith asked with a soft smile, a sight that Wednesday was already beginning to enjoy. "Breakfast is downstairs and I thought it would be efficient to ensure you were awake so you don't miss it as it is important to eat," Wednesday answered her, his tone was elegant and soft. "Oh, well, thank you for that," Lillith replied to him, the two stood in silence for a moment before Wednesday held out his arm for her.

Lillith shyly smiled as she closed her door and linked her arm with his own allowing the taller boy to walk her down to the kitchen for breakfast. When the two entered the kitchen, Morticia looked up and immediately noticed the two seventeen-year-olds linked at the arms along with soft looks in their eyes. Morticia smiled at the sight of her son being respectful. She watched as Wednesday pulled out a chair for Lillith, the teenager sat down and he pushed it in for her. The look in his eyes was something that Morticia had seen before, it was the same look Gomez gave her every single day.

"Home cooking. There's nothing like it in the world," Grandmama Frump spoke as she bought over the food she had made for everyone. Fester sat down on the other side of Wednesday, he looked around before locking gazes with Lillith for a moment. "May I have the salt?" Wednesday asked Fester who was closest to it, he picked up the salt shaker. "What do we say?" Morticia asked her son. "Now!" Wednesday demanded, the sudden tone shift had surprised Lillith in a way that caused her cheeks to flush pink. Fester quickly placed the salt shaker down next to his plate as Grandmama scooped food onto his own plate.

"What is this?" Fester asked the older woman. "Mama's specialit de la maison," Morticia answered him, her usual kind smile resting on her face. "Oh, Tish," Gomez whispered and kissed her hand, his wife speaking French was always a turn on for him. "Start with the eyes," Grandmama suggests to Fester before she sat down with her own plate. "I do hope you like it, Lillith," Morticia spoke as the teenager looked down at her plate. "Any home cooked meal would be better than the skills my grandmother has," Lillith said before laughing to herself, "Or better yet, she lacks. I tended to make my own food." Fester looked at the girl with sympathy, he knew all about how Lillith was treated by Abigail Craven.

"You live with your grandmother?" Morticia asked, she wanted to know more about the girl. "Oh, yes. My parents died when I was fourteen leaving me with my grandmother," Lillith answered her politely, she frowned slightly before pushing away the sorrow for the sake of others that were present. "Well, it was nice of your grandmother to give you a home," Gomez spoke up making Lillith sigh as she played with her food. "Yeah, I guess," Lillith breathed out catching Wednesday's attention, he watched her closely and decided he would ask more about it later.

"I would love to hear more about you, Lillith," Gomez spoke up with a smile, "Tell me, what are your hobbies? You can truly know a person based on their passions." Lillith smiled brightly at that question, "Well, I enjoy writing poems and I am quite interested in photography. But I'm fairly skilled at playing piano as it was my mother's favourite instrument." Gomez perked up at that, "Oh my, you must play a tune for us during your stay!" Lillith nodded her head, "I would happily do so. Any chance to feel the ivory keys that my mother adored." Wednesday felt that same warmth as he watched Lillith and his father get along.

Wednesday discretely placed his hand on Lillith's thigh, she was only staying for a week and he wouldn't waste a moment. In the short twenty-four hours he had known the girl, he had managed to feel a warmth that he hadn't felt with anyone before and he actually enjoyed her company ─ desired it even. Lillith glanced down at his hand for a moment before looking up at Wednesday, his attention was purely on his food. She turned back to Gomez and the two continued talking about Fencing and the history of sword fighting, she even promised him a chance to teach her how to Fence.

"So, Fester, did you sleep well?" Morticia asked her brother-in-law. "Like the dead," Fester replied to her catching Gomez' attention. "Really?" Gomez asked him, "Who would have thought Bermuda Triangle could change a man so much. You used to toss and turn all night, we had to chain you to the bed post." Wednesday looked up at him with suspicion leaking into his gaze, "It doesn't make sense." Fester made eye contact with Wednesday before shying away at the narrowed gaze, "The Bermuda Triangle is a very strange and mysterious place. You'd be surprised at all the things you don't know."

"He certainly would. Wednesday adores the Bermuda Triangle. He studies it. Death at sea, he's hooked," Morticia expressed while Wednesday sent his uncle a challenging look. "Ask me anything," Wednesday dared and Lillith had to shove a spoonful of food in her mouth to stop the inappropriate question from leaving her lips so unexpectedly. Fester looked at Wednesday surprised before he changed the subject, "Being in my old room sure brings back memories. Remember Camp Custer?" Gomez grinned at that, "For preteen offenders." The two shared a laugh at that.

"Aren't memories precious? Today I'd like to wander through the house... remembering," Fester insisted with a faux gleam in his eyes while Lillith bit the inside of her cheek. "No, no. Sorry old man, no wandering today. Today we are going straight to the vault," Gomez told his older brother. Appearing from the hall, Pugsley walked in carrying a stop sign. Gomez signaled for everyone to be quiet and they listened as a car crash was heard outside the home. Lillith jumped slightly, though she had never been in an accident, she couldn't help but think of her parents on the night they had died. "Bravo Pugsley!" Gomez praised his youngest son.

Wednesday had felt Lillith jump, his grip on her thigh moved up slightly before it tightened bringing Lillith's attention to the teenager that was already watching her closely. The two stared at one another and the car crash became muffled in her mind as she felt Wednesday's hand move off of her thigh, grabbing her hand in his and interlacing their fingers. His intention was to comfort her however, he would be lying to himself if he didn't admit that he just wished to hold her hand in his own. "Thank you," Lillith whispered to him. "My pleasure," Wednesday whispered back before the two continued eating breakfast.

After breakfast, Wednesday had some chores to do and so that left Lillith finding her own entertainment. It wasn't long until she found herself walking into one of the back rooms of the large mansion and sitting in perfect view of the door was a piano that had been recently cleaned. Lillith walked towards the piano, her fingers lightly pressed on one of the keys allowing a sweet sound to echo around the room. Lillith sat down on the stool before taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and began playing a familiar tune that she once heard echo through her home. A song that her mother loved, a song that played in her head daily and now was heard by all.

Within the home, each Addams stopped for a moment listening to the piano as it echoed throughout the home. Gomez and Fester shared a smile, the latter knew about the teenagers piano skills as he had heard her before but wasn't used to such a light melody. Pugsley turned away from the contraption he was building and listened for a moment before focusing back on it, Grandmama humming from her chair near the young boy. Morticia smiled as she watered her plants, the music was great as she worked on her garden with Lurch and Thing by her side. And finally, Wednesday watched from the door with a faint smile on his face, he was glad that he cleaned it up for her.

"Mother?" Wednesday called as he stepped into his mother's greenhouse, she turned to her son and smiled. "Hello, my son. Is everything okay?" Morticia asked the boy, she placed her tools to the side giving him her full attention. "I wish to ask you something. I was going to speak with father but he is spending time with uncle Fester," Wednesday answered her with a tight-lipped smile on his face. "Very well, I shall help however I can," Morticia assured him as he sat down next to her, he picked up one of the plants and began trimming the leaves as his mother taught him. She began doing the same allowing Wednesday to initiate the conversation.

"It's about Lillith, Mother," Wednesday began after some silence, "It seems that she has captured my attention in a way that no other has." Morticia smiled at those words, she wouldn't interrupt him but it gave her joy to know that her son was falling in love. "When she looks at me, I feel comforted. When she talks, her voice is like a melody that I would listen to on repeat. When she smiles, a warmth fills my chest. When her body stands close to mine, I wish to hold her in my arms," Wednesday expressed before sighing, "Is this what you feel for father?" Morticia put the scissors down and turned to her son, "Yes, Wednesday. You are falling in love."

Wednesday hummed and lowered his gaze for a moment before looking back at his mother, "When I first saw her... first held her hand... I felt an electric shock that no chair has given me." Morticia's eyes widened at his words, she stood up and held her arm out to her son. "Come with me," Morticia encouraged, Wednesday looped their arms and allowed his mother to lead them out of the greenhouse. "Many generations ago, there was an Addams woman who had longed to know what real love was after witnessing so many broken hearts," Morticia began telling her son, she knew this story perfectly having heard it many times.

"And so, she went to the temple of Hades pleading to speak directly to Persephone herself. It was there that she pleaded with the Queen of the Underworld to convince Aphrodite to bless the family," Morticia continued as they reached the family graveyard, "And a blessing she had received. Aphrodite had indeed blessed her however, Gods aren't always so kind. She had blessed her with one true love, a soulmate kind of love." Wednesday furrowed his brows as they both stopped in front of the angel statue that rested above the grave of Elnina Addams.

"A zing as the Addams' claimed it. And to know they were the one, all it took was one look followed by a single touch," Elnina's angel spoke softly, like a whisper in the wind. "Your father is my zing and I am his. If this is truly what you felt, then Lillith is your zing. Your one true love. You could love another but it will never be as real as it would be with your zing," Morticia told Wednesday, he lowered his eyes for a moment before looking back at his mother. "So we were... made for each other?" Wednesday asked her. "No, my son, that isn't how it works. It is pure chance, two days ago you two may not have zinged. It's all purely chance," Morticia assured him, "And now the decision is yours."
