Falling pregnant at seventeen was not what Jasmine Leslie-Rose Portman was expecting. She hadn't really thought things through that prom night but being the head cheerleader dating the schools quarterback had its expectations. Xayden Carson was the drool-worthy golden boy in school and Jasmine had been the one blessed to call him her boyfriend. Until weeks went by and Jasmine found out that she was carrying his baby. She had gone to Xayden first, she told him about the pregnancy and he told her to leave; breaking up with her for something they both played a role in.

Jasmine knocked on the Carson residence door, she rubbed her arm anxiously as Mr Carson opened the door with his usual scowl and disapproving expression. "Can I help you, Miss Portman?" Mr Carson asked with his arms crossed. "Uh, is Xayden home? I need to talk to him," Jasmine asked, her voice was soft as she never really liked the older man who was known to be the town drunk with many secrets. "He's in his room," Mr Carson gruffly replied before walking off, "Close the door behind you." Jasmine took a steady breath as she walked into the home and closed the door behind her. The house smelt like cigarettes and stale beer, a smell that made Jasmine feel woozy.

She made her way down the hall and knocked on Xayden's door, he opened it roughly only to freeze at the sight of his girlfriend rather than his father. "Minnie? Hey, what's up?" Xayden asked as he grabbed her wrist gently and pulled her into his room, he closed his door and smiled at the sight of her. "I needed to talk to you... about something important," Jasmine told him with a frown that made the smile on his face fade. "What's up? Is it your dad again?" Xayden asked her, he softly grabbed her arms and looked her over to make sure she was unharmed. "No... it's about us... that night at prom... I'm... I'm pregnant, Xayden. Doctor confirmed it today," Jasmine told him without beating around the bush.

Xayden let go off her and stepped back as if he had been burned, he ran his fingers through his hair and turned away from her whispering to himself in disbelief. "And are you sure it's mine?" Xayden asked harshly making Jasmine's eyes widen. "Are you saying I cheated on you? No! You are the only person I've ever been intimate with!" Jasmine exclaimed to him softly, she couldn't risk Mr Carson hearing this. "This is your burden, not mine," Xayden said after some silence, the words struck Jasmine harshly. "What...?" Jasmine whimpered as Xayden turned to her, he was taking steady breaths to calm himself. "We are over. You need to leave. I want nothing to do with it... with that thing," Xayden growled out causing Jasmine to step back before leaving.

This left Jasmine heartbroken and alone realising that she would have to face her parents alone, she would have to tell her Christian father that she was pregnant at seventeen. And telling him was like a slap to the face ─ Actually, she would have preferred he slapped her as it would have been less painful than the words that left his mouth. "You're a disgrace to my name, Jasmine. Leave my home and never come back, you're a sinner and I will not have you darken my door with Lucifer's torment!" Damien Portman growled out at the young teenage girl, her stepmother stood by watching without a word as Jasmine was given just enough time to pack a single bag.

Jasmine ─ with tears dripping down her cheeks ─ had walked away from the home, she had no idea where to go or what to do until she remembered the one person who was always there for her. "Hey little cousin, what's going on?" Jordan Parrish asked once he answered the phone, he had been watching through the window as Sheriff Stilinski spoke with Scott and Stiles about the unknown teenager that sat on the bench just outside the Sheriff's office. "Hey, Jordan... uh, I know this is a lot to ask but... I got nowhere else to go and... I'm pregnant, dad kicked me out," Jasmine replied, she sniffled fighting back a sob while Jordan stood up quickly at those words.

"I'm on my way. Go stay with Vicky and I'll be there soon," Jordan assured her, he knew she couldn't live with the Redfern family but she could until he picked her up. "Okay, thank you, Jordy," Jasmine said before hanging up the phone, she slipped it into her pocket and sniffled as she walked down the street towards the Redfern residence hoping that Victoria, her best friend could give her a place to crash until Jordan picked her up. Back in Beacon Hills, Jordan knocked on the door. "Yes, Parrish?" Noah asked once the door opened. "Sorry to interrupt. I've got a family emergency and was hoping I could duck out until tomorrow night?" Jordan asked. "Uh, yeah. Sure," Noah agreed, Jordan smiled before leaving without further discussion.

Victoria had let her in the moment she had shown up, calling their other best friend, Denali to come over as well and stay the night. "Xayden is useless and we did warn you away from him," Victoria bluntly told a crying Jasmine who laughed at the girls' words despite Denali sending her a look. "She needs comfort, Vicky not blunt comments," Denali replied to the tall brunette while rubbing Jasmine's back and holding her to her chest. "I am comforting her the best way that I know how... Honest truth," Victoria argued back. "Oh really? Well--" Denali was cut off by Jasmine, "It's okay, girls. I don't need to be babied... I should've listened to both of you. Lesson learned."

Victoria and Denali shared a look before they both hugged Jasmine, they held each other in silence. Jasmine had emailed the school and her teachers to inform them that she was transferring to Beacon Hills, they didn't really care to question further rather they just sent emails back wishing her all the best in her future endeavours. "Vicky, I want you to take my place as head cheerleader," Jasmine told Victoria breaking the silence. "Are you sure?" Victoria asked as she pulled back to look at the smaller girl. "Absolutely," Jasmine confirmed, Victoria smiled and tightened her hug slightly before kissing the top of her head. "I'm gonna miss you girls," Jasmine whispered.

"Jasmine, honey. Jordan is here," Victoria's mom called out from downstairs. "It's time to go," Denali told her best friend with a sniffle, she and Victoria were incredibly saddened to see Jasmine leave but they knew it would be better for her. "Don't worry, we'll make Xayden's life absolute hell," Victoria promised making Jasmine laugh through the tears. With their final goodbyes, Jasmine grabbed her things and walked down the stairs to see her cousin, Jordan standing there in uniform which told her he had left work and drove the long six hours to pick her up without hesitation. "Jassy," Jordan breathed out as he opened his arms, Jasmine rushed into his arms.

"It's gonna be okay, Jas. I've got you now," Jordan whispered to her, his eyes closed as he felt angry with his uncle for kicking her out and punishing her for something that should be viewed as a blessing in a mess. Final goodbyes were shared with Victoria and Denali before Jasmine climbed into her cousins car and settled into the warmth. "Hungry?" Jordan asked after some time driving out of the town, a distant howl echoed through the air and Jasmine looked out the window with a frown. "Ah, yeah. Food would be nice," Jasmine replied to him. Jordan looked over at his cousin with a slight frown, he hoped that with time, the sunshine she was would return.

Six hours later, Jordan drove past the Welcome to Beacon Hills sign and Jasmine noticed how tired he looked making her feel bad. "Thank you, Jordy. For this. Driving all the way to pick me up and letting me stay with you," Jasmine expressed as she looked out the window, guilt gnawing at her chest. "You don't need to thank me, Jas. I'm always going to be here for you come rain, shine or storms," Jordan assured her with a smile, "But I do need to stop in at the station first, is that okay?" Jasmine nodded her head at that, she smiled sweetly and wrapped the blanket she had around her more. They pulled up to the station and the two headed inside, Jasmine looked around the quaint station and smiled; she always adored smaller towns than the city.

"Parrish, welcome back," Sheriff Stilinski greeted as he walked out of his office and stood by his office door with two boys inside. "Hey Sheriff. This is my cousin, Jasmine. She'll be staying with me from now on," Jordan informed the older man who turned to look at the teen holding a blanket around her shoulders. "Nice to meet you, Jasmine. I'm Noah," Sheriff Stilinski introduced himself and held out his hand. Jasmine took his hand and shook it with a smile, "Nice meeting you too." The two boys inside the office heard the voice and turned to look outside, they moved closer to the door and peeked out startling Jasmine while Noah shook his head at them.

"And these two are Scott and Stiles," Noah introduced pointing at them as he said their names, "My spawn." Jasmine smiled softly watching as Stiles looked at his dad with an offended look that made Noah laugh. "Hi, I'm Jasmine Portman. Jordan's cousin," Jasmine greeted with a slight wave. Scott's eyes stayed on the girl, they reminded her of a puppy in the way that they softened. He had a goofy smile on his face, slightly styled hair and cute dimples. Stiles had whiskey coloured eyes that were analysing Jasmine like he was trying to figure her out, his narrowed gaze wasn't threatening though.

"I thought I'd stop in and see if you needed me for today or tonight," Jordan asked Noah but before he could speak, Jasmine did. "He drove six hours to pick me up and then six hours back here... could he get some rest rather than exhausting himself to prove that he is good at his job?" Jasmine asked ignoring Jordan's look. "You can take time to rest, Parrish. I need my officers well rested," Noah told Jordan who nodded. "Right, well, let's get you settled at home and get some sleep," Jordan told Jasmine who nodded. "Nice meeting you," Jasmine waved to Noah, Scott and Stiles before leaving.

Before Jordan moved to Beacon Hills, he was in the army so he hadn't had a home of his own until he bought the one he now lived in. He was glad that he got a place with extra rooms, it was decorated like a simple guest room but he knew that Jasmine would make it her own. "If you need anything at all, Jas... just ask me, okay?" Jordan told Jasmine through a yawn, she nodded and walked into her new room looking around at the white walls and the plain double bed. It had a balcony with a sliding door so she knew where she would spend time reading or relaxing. Jordan had moved a desk into the room so she could set up her laptop and such for studying.

Jasmine sat on the edge of the bed letting the blanket she had wrapped around her fall to the bed, it was the only piece of her mother that she had. The knitted design was made by her grandmother and passed down to her mother only to end up in her possession after her mother had gone missing only to never be found. Her father then remarried within a year to keep up appearances in their community, he played the heartbroken widow before claiming he found happiness with his new wife when in reality, he had married his mistress and earned God's forgiveness by doing so. Shaking the thoughts away, Jasmine placed her hand on her stomach and sighed, "I promise, baby, you'll always be loved by me."
