Days went by. Whenever Charlie decided to spend time with y/n, Sarah wouldn't let him.

That afternoon, y/n was in the bench out the ice cream shop with her friends.
They looked at the same people.
"Another day. Same story" Said Marisa
"Yeah, the old man, the couple and the girl with her dog" Added Liam
Y/n looked around and saw something new.
"This is new"
"What?" Asked Marisa
"At two o'clock"

Everyone looked at where she said and saw Charlie and Sarah.
"Why are they here?"
"Liam, the real question is why are they arguing"
"No, Sarah always argue with Charlie, so the real question is what happened"
Y/n looked at them.
"Charlie is too pure for her"

Sarah slapped the boy and went away. The three were shocked. Why she acted like this?
Y/n met Charlie's eyes and looked away, embarrassed.

When she got home, she went to her room, got on bed and started doing her homework. After a while, someone knocked at the door. She snorted thinking that her brother had forgotten the keys. She went downstairs and opened the door.
"Owen, I-... Oh, hi Charlie?" She was surprised and confused to see the boy.
"Hi y/n"
"Owen is not home"
"I know but I wanted to pass some time with you, we haven't been together this week"
She nodded.
"Right. Come in"

The two went to y/n's room and sat on the bed where there were a lot of papers and books. Y/n threw them on the floor and Charlie laughed.
"Homework?"
"Yeah, it was math, nothing important"
Charlie grabbed the flyer of the school musical.
"So, are you ready for the audition?"
"I'm so nervous... I'm not sure I want to..."
"Hey, you will be great ok? You are amazing"
"Charlie, will you still audition?"
He bit his lip and tried to change the topic.
"So, what are you doing in math?"

Y/n put a hand on his cheek, where Sarah slapped him, like if her touch could cure the red mark.
"Charlie, you know that you can talk to me about everything. I saw you at the park today so don't act like everything is fine... If you are upset, or..."
"Shawty... Thank you. I'm sad about what happened today, so I don't think I will do the audition"
"Well, if you will not do the audition, I will not do it too"
"Don't be stupid, you should, your voice is amazing"
"Charlie. You introduced me to music, remember? No music is worth making Charlie, if it's not with you"
She blushed as he smiled.
"So, you asked what I'm doing in math... Ehm, I'm doing stuffs... With numbers... I guess?"
Charlie laughed.
"Cinnamon roll, tomorrow we will do the audition, and we will have the part"
She smiled.

Charlie took the guitar on the wall.
"What are you doing?"
"Do you remember the song I used to play when we were kids?"
"Yes, do you still remember?"
"Of course, I loved when we sang it together"
"Yeah, you usually played the guitar and I sang, we were a perfect duo"
"We loved musical and tried every dance together. We were obsessed with High school musical"
He started to play 'When there was me and you'.
"I used to sing this song to you every time you were afraid of something or when you had a nightmare"

It was a dark and stormy night. Y/n woke up in her room, scared, and started to cry. Suddenly, Charlie woke up hearing her cry. He went out Owen's room and walked to her room, opening the door.
"Y/n..."
"Charlie?"
"Yup"
He went next to her and sat on the girl's bed.
Charlie looked at her wet face and wiped her tears.
"Hey, stop crying, I'm here now"
"No"
"What happened?"
"I had a bad dream, I was dreaming that everyone was abandoning me... I was alone in a dark room"
She sobbed.
Charlie hugged her.
"I will never leave you, I promise"
She looked at his bue eyes.
"Really?"
"Of course, you are so important and if I left you who would protect you? Owen? He is not strong as me!"
Y/n giggled.
"Do you promise?"
"I promise. Are you still afraid?"
"A bit"
"What if I stay here with you tonight?"
She smiled and nodded.
Charlie took a flashlight and went under the covers with the girl.
"This is our tent, nobody will hurt you"
Y/n smiled.

"I swore I knew the melody
That I heard you singing
And when you smiled you made me feel
Like I could sing along"

As he sang, the girl closed her eyes to sleep. Charlie hugged her and fell asleep with her in her arms.

Charlie put down the guitar.
Y/n looked at him.
"I know you are sad for Sarah... What if we do a night with ice cream and movie?"
He smiled.
"Of course!"

"You can choose the movie"
"What about 'Sixteen candles'?"
Y/n nodded.
"Perfect. I'm going downstairs to get the ice cream"

When she opened the fridge, Owen went into the house.
"Hey, are you going to eat all this ice cream alone?"
"Nope, Charlie is in my room"
Owen stopped.
"Did I heard right?"
"Yup"
"Y/n, I told you to not get hurt"
"I know but Sarah dumped him, he is sad, he needs his best friend"
Owen sighed.
"You are too kind..."

Y/n come back to her room and handed a spoon to the boy. After they finished a box of ice cream, y/n laid on Charlie's chest while he was rubbing her back.
"I missed all this"
Y/n smiled.
"Me too"
Charlie giggled and y/n looked at him, confused.
"What?"
"We look like a couple"
Y/n blushed.
"Oh yeah... Funny"

Charlie become serious and stood up.
"I have an idea"
"For what?"
"To have Sarah back"
"Oh... Nice"
"I need your help"
"How?"
"Be my fake girlfriend. We are best friends so it will be easy. Sarah will get jealous and will come back"
Y/n faked a smile.
"Charlie... I don't think-"
"Please"
He grabbed the girl's hands and made puppy eyes.
Y/n didn't want the boy knows that she had a crush on him, but the idea to be his fake girlfriend wasn't the best.
"Let me think, ok?"
"Yes, goodnight cinnamon roll"
He left a kiss on her cheek and smiled.
