036 | Lifelike

"This feels strange," Lavera spoke as she looked into her reflection. "But it's efficient and stable," Jesse told her with a smile. "Definitely strange," Haylee pointed out with a smirk that disappeared when Jesse hit her over the head. "You'll adjust to your new systems," Jesse told her before turning back to his desk. "She's so... lifelike," Haylee spoke up, she was used to Lavera's transparency but now she looked completely human. "Impressive. I know," Jesse bragged with a smirk that faded when Haylee hit him over the head.

"So are you gonna assist me with training? Also, does Lavera have to stay by her original coding within my laptop or could she leave the lab?" Haylee asked her brother, she was clueless about the systems that Jesse made with Cisco's assistance. "Yes, I am gonna help you with training. And no, she doesn't need to be close to her original coding. She can do anyway, she has her own energy core that needs to be replaced every three or so years," Jesse explained with a smile.

"That is reassuring to know," Lavera told Jesse with a smile before looking to Haylee as she laughed. "What is so funny?" Lavera asked her with furrowed brows. "Barry keeps sending me these cute animal videos that he randomly finds," Haylee told them before sending Barry a quick reply. "How cute," Jesse sarcastically said with a groan before he stood up with a drone. "This will help us test your limitations when using lightning to access super-speed," Jesse told her with a smile.

"Alright. Let's head out the runway. Dr Wells said we could use it," Haylee told them as she grabbed her bag. The three of them climbed into Jesse's Chevrolet Camaro, classic rock music playing through the speakers as they drove to the abandoned runway nearby the field where Haylee wants to build the meta-human prison. "Alright, we'll start with your energy core, Haylee. I want you to focus on the energy around you," Jesse told her as they walked up to the clear area.

Haylee took a few steps away from Lavera and Jesse, she took slow deep breaths as she closed her eyes. Haylee began to focus purely on the surrounding energies; Jesse's which had a natural pulse to it while Lavera's wasn't as subtle, the energy felt like a powerful white light shining over her. She turned her focus away from the two beings behind her, she focused on Earth's natural energy, the pulse tasted like lemons to her.

"It feels... amazing," Haylee breathed out as Lavera and Jesse watched in awe, a full aura like fox surrounded her body as Earth's energy seemed to become one with her. Her hair was blowing slightly in the wind as electricity sparked over her body in small little bolts, the static-like electricity made quiet zapping noises. Slowly, Haylee opened her eyes revealing their bright sky blue colour along with the veins in her face searing like currents.

"I gotta admit, you look so damn awesome right now," Jesse complimented as he set up his drone. "But now, I wanna test your ability as a speedster," Jesse told her before pushing a button on his controller, the drone buzzed to life and lifted from the table as Haylee smirked. "This will be fun," Haylee told him, Jesse smirked as Lavera calculated everything. Meanwhile, Barry was on the other side of the city chasing down two criminals with Team Flash's help.

"Oh, Barry, there's an intersection coming up. Hurry!" Caitlin advised as she, Cisco and Dr Wells sat at the main communications desk in front of the mics that allowed them to contact The Flash when he's out on his little missions. "This should slow 'em down," Cisco stated as he hacked into the systems and turned the lights red causing the two bikers to split up making it more difficult for The Flash. "Guys, which way?" Flash asked instantly.

"Left/Right," Cisco and Caitlin said at the same time which only confused Flash further as they looked at each other. "Right/Left," They said next causing Flash to groan. "Stop! You both hear you're telling me two different things, right?" Flash told them as he stopped. "Barry, listen up. Listen carefully. Here is what you're going to do," Dr Wells caught his full attention. "Now, the Queen is trying to make it to the bridge, but I have a shortcut-- wait for it, and left... left... right..." Dr Wells directed with a smile.

"I see her!" Flash replied as the Queen came into view. "Make her go west before Fremont," Dr Wells instructed. "Okay, how?" The Flash asked. "I'd recommend a detour," Dr Wells replied with a cheeky smirk. "Now, the King is headed for the entrance to the interstate," Dr Wells told him next. "What entrance?" The Flash replied with a smirk. "Atta boy!" Dr Wells cheered. "Check..." Dr Wells said with a smile. "Got the keys," The Flash told them. "...Mate," Dr Wells finished off.

Barry zoomed into the Cortex and removed his mask, a smile resting on his face as Cisco stood up from his seat. "Give me some!" Cisco cheered before the two high fived. "Efficiently done, Mr Allen," Dr Wells complimented. "We need a picture," Cisco spoke up instantly. "Pretty sure rule number one of having a secret identity is not taking pictures yourself in your super suit without a mask on. Plus, Haylee will be angry that she's not in it or that we are risking my identity," Barry expressed.

"Oh, come on, please! And Haylee will get over it... eventually," Cisco begged with a wide grin before sighing, "This is just for us. This is to document all this." Dr Wells sighed as Barry looked at him for a decision. "Who knows? Maybe people in the future will want to know how all this happened," Dr Wells expressed. "Let me message Haylee, she'll glitch here," Barry picked up his phone and sent Haylee a message. "But if you want the future to have the whole story, then-" Barry began but was cut off by Haylee appearing next to him, "-We all need to be in it!"

Barry leaned over and kissed Haylee's cheek, the girl smiled up at him as Caitlin and Cisco got into place. "That means you, Dr Wells," Haylee told him with a smile before moving to stand on the other side of Cisco. "First, let me put on some makeup?" Caitlin quickly said but Cisco grabbed her arm and pulled her back, "The future does not care about your makeup." Haylee laughed as Dr Wells moved his chair in front of Cisco and Caitlin, towards the middle.

"Okay. Three... Two... One," Barry said before flashing over and taking the photo, zooming back into it as they all smiled. "Does that count as a selfie?" Caitlin asked. "Absolutely!" Barry replied as Haylee laughed. "All right. I gotta get back to Jesse and Lavera," Haylee announced before walking up to Barry. "I will see you at Joe's," Haylee told him before leaning up on her toes to plant a soft kiss on his lips, the speedster responded instantly.

"Bye guys!" Haylee called out before glitching back to Jesse and Lavera who were testing some weapons that Cisco helped Jesse make. "You two are adorkable," Cisco told Barry with a smirk as he typed away on his tablet. "When are you gonna ask her to be yours?" Caitlin asked sharing a smirk with Cisco, the two had planned to apply some pressure on their favourite couple. "I, uh... I want to ask but I don't know how," Barry told them, both Cisco and Caitlin laughed.

"Barry. It doesn't need to be special or extravagant. We all know how simple Haylee likes things so, just let out your feelings and ask her when it seems like the right moment for you," Dr Wells advised with a kind smile on his face. "Thanks, Dr Wells," Barry smiled before changing out of his suit and into some normal clothes. He said his farewell to Cisco and Caitlin before heading home while Haylee left Lavera with Jesse, not wanting to miss out on Joe's spaghetti.

Haylee and Barry showed up at the same time to the West household, Barry instantly wrapped his arms around her and kissed her with so much passion, it took the breath from her lungs. "Hello to you too," Haylee breathed out when they pulled away. "I've been wanting to do that all day," Barry told her before grabbing her hand and walking up to the door. "Honestly, I am so okay with that," Haylee replied with a dazed smile on her face. Barry laughed before walking into the house, both of them smiled when Iris walked from the stairs to the living room.

"Hey, Iris," Haylee greeted as she walked towards the couch, leaning against it with her arms crossed. "Hey you two," Iris replied with a teasing smirk. "You do realize the whole point of moving out is not being at home anymore, right?" Barry said to her as he reached up and grabbed the doorframe, leaning forward slightly causing his shirt to lift. Haylee watched with desire circling in her eyes, she took in a sharp breath which Barry caught making him smirk.

"Ha, ha, ha. I forgot a few things," Iris replied, she hadn't noticed the way the couple looked at each other. "So... how is it living back at the house?" Iris asked him as she looked up at him. "He's enjoying it too much, if you ask me," Haylee told Iris hoping to distract herself from her inappropriate thoughts about her not-boyfriend. "Hey, Bar?" Joe spoke up as he walked out into everyone's view. "Babe... spaghetti a la me. You sure you don't want to stay for dinner?" Joe asked as he held up the bowl.

"Thanks, but Eddie is painting all day and I swore that I would help," Iris told him as Haylee moved to the other side of the table. "Although, I'm really just going to do that thing where I get a little paint on my hair and on my nose," Iris added making Haylee laugh. "That sounds about right," Haylee replied as she pointed at her. "Oh shut up," Iris teased back as they hugged. "Oh, hey, someone from Central City Picture News called you the other day," Joe told Iris.

"I left the number on the fridge," Joe added as he plated some spaghetti for Haylee. "What? Why didn't you tell me?" Iris exclaimed while Haylee smirked. "Chill! Just did," Joe told her before she rushed into the kitchen. "Hey, I heard some members of the Royal Flush Gang are headed to prison," Joe spoke up to Barry who nodded with a smirk as Iris let out a scream. "Is that a good scream or a bad scream?" Joe asked. "Good! So good!" Iris cheered as she walked back in.

"I just got offered a job as a reporter at Central City Picture News!" Iris exclaimed before looking at Haylee, "Someone put in a good word for me claiming I ghost partnered on The Flash blog!" Haylee shrugged with a wink, "I know how much you want to work there and I'm too busy with assisting Dr Wells and his team, as I told you." Barry and Joe's eyes widened but she shook her head ensuring she didn't mean the metahumans. "Oh yeah. How is that Accelerator clean up? Any remaining radiation like you theorized?" Iris asked quickly.

"Thankfully nothing too dangerous. But Barry been assisting with it too," Haylee pointed out creating yet another cover story for their sudden disappearances, something that both Joe and Barry are grateful for. "Anyway, that's awesome!" Joe told Iris before they hugged. "Anyway, I gotta get going now. Love you all!" Iris blew kisses to everyone before grabbing the box she had and heading out. "You and your cover stories are brilliant," Joe told Haylee as he and Barry sat down at the table.

"Oh, trust me, Joe. Nothing is more amazing than your spaghetti," Haylee told him before scooping up some and eating it, closing her eyes with a quiet moan. "I'm honoured you think that Haylee. But please, don't happy moan about the food, it does something to Bar," Joe warned her before laughing when she opened her eyes and looked to Barry who was staring at her with pink-tinted cheeks and a dazed expression. "Oh, Barry..." Haylee muttered.

Author Note
Okay. So I have begun working on Book Two already (I couldn't help myself) as I know the direction this book is heading and how this book will end. Don't worry, we still have many chapters left in this book but just know... the second book is already in the works. And just know, the first chapter is kind of awesome in my eyes.

Also, nothing romantic will happen between Jesse and Lavera, she is an AI. They are simply an iconic duo and basically, when Jesse isn't around, he's either working or inventing things in the family lab with Laver's help.

(A Little Hint: You aren't gonna like how this book ends.)
