022 | A New Hero
── ⚡ ──
Electricity is a fickle thing, its power is beautiful but deadly creating a bright light for you to see. But when it's gone, there's only darkness that starts to swallow you whole. And as Dumbledore once said; Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. But how could one be happy when their form of light in the dark is someone who they are trying to avoid at every cost, literally.
Everyone was beginning to catch on that Haylee was avoiding Barry, every time he showed up, she would leave. Iris and Eddie were slowly starting to realise that something had happened between the two and Eddie, being like a protective brother to Haylee, was beginning to feel on edge around Barry. But Jesse, Caitlin, Joe and Cisco knew exactly why she was avoiding Barry, the speedster had told them about Haylee knowing the truth.
But now as she sits on the egg chair on the back patio with her laptop in her lap, she had been researching about supposed sightings of a burning man while also working on another article for the CCPN. Haylee let out a sigh as she heard footsteps coming towards her, she lifted her head to be met with Cisco Ramon himself. "Hey Lee, I know, uh, you may be mad at me but I wanted to check on you," Cisco spoke as he scratched the back of his neck.
"It's okay, Co. I've already moved past the whole team situation when Jesse told me everything including how he found out about everything," Haylee responded as she patted the seat next to her. Jesse had told her that he had shown up at Star Labs to speak with Dr Wells about a science project when he caught Barry standing in the room in his suit surrounded by the team, they all begged him to keep it from Haylee and Iris, the Brager boy feel terrible for lying to his sister so he picked up move shifts at Mercury Lab to avoid her.
"Oh, I'm glad. And now that you know, your awesome brain can join the team and help us keep Barry alive," Cisco told her with a wide smile. "No," Haylee replied causing his smile to disappear. "You're still mad at Barry... because he kissed you as Flash," Cisco spoke slowly making Haylee nod. "But... I need your help," Haylee said to Cisco before leading him towards the shed, the girl smiled at the uneasy look on Cisco's face.
"Relax Co, you're family. I wouldn't hurt you," Haylee assured him before opening a small keypad. "Jesse and I chose this house for a reason," Haylee smirked at Cisco before putting in a passcode, the shed opened a trapdoor and the girl lead Cisco down the stairs into her very own lab. "This is... incredible!" Cisco's eyes were wide in wonder, he slowly moved around the lab and admired the tech before approaching a mannequin that contain a blue polymer suit similar to Barry's but it only had an eye mask and a hood.
But before he could speak, the hero fan turned his gaze to the black hooded suit behind a glass case with a bow hanging above it. "No way!" Cisco turned to Haylee, the girl smiled fondly at her old suit as she cherished the loss of guilt and accepted the content forgiveness for her past. "You... You were Raven!? You know who the Arrow is!" Cisco exclaimed as he stood in front of the glass case. "That was my past," Haylee replied.
"But wait... You got mad at Barry for keeping his identity a secret yet... Barry is a major fan of Raven and wants to meet her and this whole time..." Cisco pointed out making Haylee sigh. "I know how it seems Co. But the difference is, I didn't say anything about being Raven because I was running from that. The moment I returned home, Raven ceased to exist. Plus I knew that would lead to my connection to Arrow and it's too dangerous to know his identity," Haylee expressed to Cisco hoping he'd understand.
"That makes sense," Cisco replied before looking back at the other suit, he furrowed his brows at the metal conductors situated on the wrists, shoulders and ankles. "You working on making a suit that creates electrical currents?" Cisco asked as he made a slight adjustment. "Actually, I'm making a suit that'll work with my electrical currents," Haylee answered. Cisco turned to Haylee though his eyes widened as he watched her eyes glow a bright blue, electricity flowing over her body.
"Oh-kay... That's new and unexpected," Cisco muttered before stepping closer which made Haylee step back. "It's electricity, Co. Don't move closer!" Haylee scolded before letting her power fade into her. "Right, I forgot that part. Oh!" Cisco exclaimed startling Haylee for a moment. "We can call you... storm! No... that doesn't work..." Cisco furrowed his brows trying to think of a name for her. "Cisco," Haylee spoke gaining his attention, the girl winked before zapping into her tech, appearing on the screen.
Cisco smiled widely as he stepped closer, "That's so cool!" Haylee smiled before they both raised a brow. "Glitch!" They said in unison with smiles. Cisco and Haylee worked together on the suit for a few hours, the girl was thankful they could work together and she was glad Cisco was keeping it a secret until she was ready to reveal her metahuman identity. Cisco tested her abilities for a few hours, the girl had learnt that she could glitch and teleport but it took a lot of energy.
Haylee had also introduced Cisco to Lavera, the nerd spent almost an hour asking the AI endless questions before he began planning out an actual robotic body they could transfer Lavera into, which Haylee happily agreed to. They spent some time working on that while Lavera asked Cisco questions about his life, the science geek happily answered them while Haylee laughed along with his stories and shared a few harsh words about his brother before reminding Cisco that they were family and she'd always have his back.
The two formed a whole new bond, something that nothing and nobody would ever be able to break. Cisco and Haylee were a powerful duo, they weren't just best friends but they were each other's platonic soulmates, destined to meet one another. Cisco was Haylee's brother, she couldn't see her life without Cisco Ramon in it and she couldn't stand the thought of living in a world where he didn't exist, Haylee Brager would sacrifice her life to save Cisco with no hesitation.

The two had decided on going to Big Belly Burger for dinner where they spotted Eddie, Iris, Caitlin, Jesse and Barry eating together. "We don't have to sit with them," Cisco told her but she shook her head. "It's fine, Co. Let's go," Haylee smiled at Cisco and the two made their way over to the group. "Hey, think you can fit two more people in?" Haylee asked with a smile. "Of course!" Iris exclaimed before letting Cisco and Haylee sit down.
Haylee raised a brow at Cisco who took the seat next to Iris leaving the seat next to Barry for her, so with a quiet sigh, she sat down next to him. "What have you two been up to today?" Jesse asked them as Haylee stole one of his fries. "Just catching up and talking about my time in Starling City," Haylee answered Jesse, the boy choked on his drink knowing she meant that Cisco knew about Haylee's past and her powers.
"You alright, Jesse?" Iris asked as she reached across Eddie to rub Jesse's back, the action didn't go unnoticed by Eddie who seemed to tense up. "Uh, yeah. The wrong hole," Jesse said before moving away from Iris' touch, the West girl pulled her hand back and turned back to everyone. "Anyway, what's been happening?" Haylee asked hoping to move past the awkward interaction that she was definitely going to bring up to Jesse later.
Haylee's question started a new conversation allowing everyone to just relax for a while as they spoke about their own day's adventures and for a moment, Haylee felt herself relax as she sat there. Barry spent most of the dinner stealing glances at the brunette, cherishing every laugh that left her mouth and allowing her voice to echo through his mind whenever she spoke.

Haylee was beyond happy with the found family she had, she couldn't be more grateful by the events of the Particle Accelerator. Though there was a lot of destruction caused by the failed science experiment, it bought her what she had always needed. She wouldn't change anything about her family and she knew that Jesse had felt the same about the change in their lives. By the end of dinner, Barry and Haylee were the last two to leave.
Haylee approached her car knowing that Barry would've run to Big Belly Burger so she assumed he could run back home. But she wasn't expecting him to grab her waist and steal her away, her heart was pounding as they stopped on the roof of the CCPN, their spot. "Barry..." Haylee breathed out as she turned to him, but the speedster was pacing back and forth muttering to himself while she stood there.
Haylee made a move towards the roof access door but Barry was quick to stop her. "Barry, this is kidnapping," Haylee spoke with a serious tone but Barry shook his head. "I hate this... This distance between us, Haylee. I, uh, I know you are hiding something about Starling, I'm not stupid, okay? But I'll wait a thousand years for you, I need you to know that," Barry spoke as he trapped Haylee between him and the door.
"Haylee Noelle Brager, I've been in love with you since the moment I saw your smile," Barry confessed, Haylee froze in place as she looked him in the eyes for any lies but all she could see was sincerity and love. "You've made every day of my life brighter and when you left for college, I wanted to tell you but I couldn't bring myself to do it because I didn't want to hold you back from happiness. But I need you to know this... I love you, Haylee. Always have, Always will," Barry whispered the last part.
Haylee's eyes began to water as she let those words sink in, she believed herself to be unlovable and yet, here stood Barry Allen confessing his love for her. Haylee took that moment of silence to wander through her memories, her focus was on Barry every time he looked at her and all she could see was pure love. And despite the fact that she fell for The Flash, she knew that it was Barry she was falling for because they were the same person.
"Barr..." Haylee whispered but she watched his small smile fall thinking she was about to reject him, so she did the one thing that would get her message across. Haylee hooked her hand around Barry's neck and pulled his head down before kissing him with so much passion, the boy felt his head spin. Barry's hands landed on her waist, gripping her as he pulled her against his body. Haylee wrapped her arms around his shoulders, melting into his body as she ran her fingers through the back of his hair.
Both of their hearts were racing at unnatural speeds, everything around them slowed down and they became the only two people in the world. Barry's stomach filled with wild butterflies, his chest felt warm and he felt complete as their mouths moved together in passion. Haylee's stomach flowed with electricity bringing her to life, the girl felt as though she was connected to a high powered battery, she felt complete in Barry's arms and she never wanted to lose that feeling.
They had no idea what this meant for them, but as they fell asleep that night in Haylee's bed - her head resting on his clothed chest, his arms wrapped tight around her to keep her close - just cosied up together, they didn't care because for that moment, they were complete and happy. And moments like these were the ones to be cherished because standing across the road from Haylee's home, hidden in the shadows was a man with so much rage, he could tear down a city in seconds - And he wanted Haylee Brager dead.

Author Note
Oh, my God! In all honesty, writing that scene between Barry and Haylee makes my heart melt and feel extremely single. I couldn't have them apart for too long because of my plan for the future episodes. Anyway, what do you think?
And who could be wanting Haylee dead?
{P.S: Could be a new character or it could be an old character.}
