James Potter thinks about Lily's eyes

a/n: this is more of a romantic piece than an angst bit, but it still has a bit of it as well, this one really sucks so brace yourself or just skip idk. this was my second story in forever (its been edited since but retained it's trashy-ness) 

He saw her first on the Hogwarts express. she sat next to Snivellus quietly speaking, while he fooled about with Sirius.

the first thing he noticed when she looked up, was not bright red hair, not her damp cheeks, but her eyes. bright green, they were squinting at him as she scowled.

over the years he had seen her over and over many times, only to be enchanted by those eyes, again and again. he would do anything for another glimpse at them.

they were always narrowed at him in annoyance.

over the course of time, those eyes changed. instead of showing hatred, the showed laughter. they showed love and care. that was when he realised that she no longer saw him as an arrogant toerag.

she was sitting alone in the heads common room. when he walked over to her and plopped himself down next to her. he looked at her to see her smiling at him. he looked into her bright green eyes, the sparkle in them gave him the confidence to say what he wanted to.

"lils.. will you go out with me" she laughed and her eyes continued to sparkle.

she looked into his eyes and whispered, "yes"

[july 30, 1980]

James looked down at his newborn son, and then at his beautiful wife.

"he looks just like you" she said, placing a hand on his head.

"yes, but he has your eyes" James whispered.

[october 31, 1981]

"lily its him! take harry and go" he shouted. he looked at her for the last time and saw tears streaming down her face.

he looked at her eyes, her bright green eyes, and turned to face Voldemort.

when the curse hit, he allowed himself to fall into the darkness. but the last thing he saw wasn't the sickly green of Voldemort's curse but the sparkling emerald of her eyes
