fifty eight | narration
"dahye..."
the girl looked up from her phone and looked at renjun who was standing in front of her. she pressed her lips to a thin line as the boy sat beside her.
"about the other days... i just want to apologize... for ignoring you..." renjun took a deep breath. "i know it was such a shitty thing to do and i'm only apologizing now... i'm really sorry."
"don't cry or be swayed by his words, dahye. you're stronger than that." dahye was about to break down, and she doesn't know why, but she felt like crying.
"dahye—why are you crying?!" renjun tried to wipe her tears away but dahye pushed his arm away from her.
"i... i still don't understand why you did that," she chuckled bitterly. "you already know that it was a shitty thing to do but w-why did you still do it?" her eyes were already brimming with tears. "why, have you already figured out that i have feelings for you that's why you started ignoring me?" she scoffed.
renjun couldn't say a word.
he already knew that dahye has feelings for him thanks to donghyuck and their friends but he still couldn't react properly when the confession came from dahye herself.
"yes, i like you, but so what? it doesn't matter now renjun." she hastily wiped her tears away "it doesn't matter that i like you because i know i'm already too late..." she smiled bitterly. "but it's okay... i'll be okay..."
"i'll always be okay."
renjun could only sit there as she started to walk away.
dahye couldn't stop herself from breakin down even if she had told herself not to. she walked away, not knowing where to, and not looking back.
because if she did, she would have realized that the stoic, huang renjun was weeping in what could only be described as the most heart breaking moment of his life.
