iii. kiss him again?
"You had to kiss Bucknasty?" Wanda asked, her voice full of amusement as she walked into Mia's room.
The Avenger chose to sleep at the tower for the night before heading back to Mystic Falls. She groaned at the memory, "Did you have to remind me?"
Wanda grinned as she sat next to her, "Since he keeps going on about the fact that he got to kiss you, yeah, I did."
Mia held her pillow on her head as she attempted to suffocate herself. The auburn-haired girl chuckled as she used to magic to lift the pillow away, "Don't kill yourself. I still need to one-up Bucky by sleeping with you."
The blonde chuckled, "You trying to seduce me, Wanda?"
She shrugged, "I don't know. Is it working?"
Mia smirked innocently as she tapped her on her lap, silently telling the woman to sit down. Wanda did as told and smiled as she sat on Mia's lap.
The blonde's hands gripped Wanda's thighs, "Do you want to fuck me, Wanda? Or do you want to one up, Barnes?"
Wanda grinned, "Both."
Mia stayed silent before looking back at Wanda, "You gonna kiss me or just sit there and look pretty?"
— — —
"So, did you really go on a date with the toaster?" Mia asked Wanda as they walked down to the kitchen that morning. They hadn't done anything other than kiss. However, that's not what Bucky needed to know.
Wanda nodded, "It was so boring. He kept talking about numbers and logic."
The blonde chuckled, "Oh the horror."
"Mia!" They heard Peter screech before she was pulled into a bear hug. "You bitch! You didn't tell me you were back!"
The Avenger grinned as she held onto the younger boy before pulling away, "I didn't know I was coming."
"Are you staying?" He asked in a hopeful tone.
She shook her head, "I'm leaving in a couple of hours. Sorry, kiddo."
The spider boy sighed, "It's okay. Can we hang out before you go?"
Mia immediately nodded. "Of course we can! I gotta talk to Loki first though, okay? I'll meet you in your room?"
He grinned widely, "I'll get out my new lego Death Star!"
Not long after, Mia found Loki reading in his room. "Hey, Loki," She started as she walked inside with a small smile on her face.
"Mortal," He greeted, not looking up from his book. "When did you get back from that dreadful little town?"
"I'm just here for a few hours. I had a question though," She started as she glanced around his room. It was so clean, cleaner than Steve's room even.
"Ask away," The god spoke as he set down his book.
"What do you know about Original vampires?"
Loki smiled, "Originals? My oh my you've been busy."
Mia sighed as she sat down beside him, "I met one the other day. Elijah. He wanted Elena for some sacrifice."
"She's still alive? Surprising... Originals date back 1000 years. They were created by their mother after they lost a child. As per the curse, most know it as the sun and moon curse, however, that curse is not the true curse."
"Really?" Mia asked, interest in the subject blooming in her.
He nodded, "I believe it is a curse placed on Niklaus. He was born out of wedlock and had a werewolf gene. The parents despised him for it and locked it away."
The blonde breathed out, "Fuck. Are all parents assholes?"
Loki chuckled softly, "It seems so, darling. It would be best if you were careful though. They are a very dangerous family."
Mia nodded, "Thanks, Loki."
"Of course, Mortal. Oh and remember, you can't kill an Original. Not unless you have the proper artillery for it."
The blonde smiled, "Thank you. Did you enjoy that book I got you?"
"Steve burned it in a fire. He told me I shouldn't be reading 50 Shades of Grey," Loki answered with a smirk.
"I see. I'll get you a digital copy. Steve can barely turn on his phone, he'll never know."
Before she could leave the room, he stopped her once more, "Four of the siblings share a soulmate, Mia. Peter told me Elijah healed you, be careful around them, okay?"
"Will do, Loki."

When Mia arrived in Mystic Falls, she immediately met Damon at what appeared to be a tea party for adults.
She quickly noticed the vampire before she walked over to him, "Damon."
"Mia," He greeted, not taking his eyes off Elijah who was talking to the mayor, "How was London?"
The Avenger sighed, "Elijah's not dead, I see. London was shit. I had to kiss Bucky."
Damon glanced down at her with a surprised look, "Really?"
She nodded, not taking her eyes off Elijah who had been staring at her the second she entered the Lockwood home. "Yeah. Remind me to never kiss him again. It was like he was trying to suffocate me with his tongue."
The vampire chuckled, "Fun. Did you kill anyone?"
Mia rolled her eyes, "No. I don't kill people and you know that."
"Like you didn't try to kill Bucky after he kissed you," The Salvatore teased.
"That was only attempted murder, not the real thing," She shrugged, a small smile on her lips as she looked toward the Original who had a shocked look on his face.
"How's the rest of your family? Did you get that information Stefan asked for?"
She nodded, "Mhm. I didn't get anything good though other than the fact that they can't be killed, at least not by anything you have. So I would suggest not trying anything."
Elijah still hadn't taken his eyes off her. In all fairness, it practically hurt to not look at her. He was slightly surprised by her knowledge, most people didn't know there were things that could kill an Original.
"And what can kill them?" Damon asked impatiently.
"As I said, nothing you have in your possession and I hardly believe they would let a weapon like that be anywhere but in their hands. So, I'd stop trying to piss him off and let him make a deal with you."
Damon didn't listen. He never does. He grabbed onto her hand before he led her towards the Original who stood by the mayor.
"Have you spent much time in Richmond for your book? There's such a wealth of history there," Mia heard the mayor ask in a terrible flirty tone.
Elijah shook his head, "No. I'm focusing mostly on the, uh, smaller regions of Virginia. Lots of research. Strictly academic."
The mayor smiled, "That's fascinating."
"More like boring," Mia whispered earning a chuckle from Damon.
Before they could get any closer, Jenna walked towards them, "Mia! Damon, you came."
Mia smiled as she pulled the woman in for a hug. Jenna had always been kind to her. Not even a second later, another woman walked towards them before pulling Damon in for a kiss.
The Avenger's eyes widened slightly which earned a chuckle from Jenna, "Damon's new girlfriend."
"Poor girl," Mia mused as she stared at the woman.
Damon smiled as he grabbed Mia's hand once again, "Thanks for introducing us, Jenna, but Mia and I need to talk to the mayor. Nice seeing you."
He quickly led her away from them and earned the attention of the mayor, "Damon! What a surprise."
Damon put on a false smile, "Carol. Hi."
"Elijah, I want you to meet Damon Salvatore," She spoke, completely ignoring Mia's presence. "His family is one of Mystic Falls' founding families."
Damon nodded, "Mhm. Such a pleasure to meet you."
"No, pleasures mine," Elijah spoke in a smooth voice as he shook hands with the Salvatore before looking back at Mia, "Elijah," He spoke, holding his hand out to her.
Her hand slowly met his, "Mia," She told him as he kissed her hand. The act caused her heart to momentarily stop which earned a small smile from the man.
"Lovely to meet you, Ms. Mia."
— — —
Not long after, Damon led both Mia and Elijah into a room away from all the guests.
"What can I do for you, Damon?" The Original asked as Damon closed the door behind them.
"I was hoping we could have a word."
"Where is Elena?"
"Safe with Stefan. They're laying low, you know, bit of a werewolf problem."
Elijah nodded as he watched Mia open a bottle of scotch before putting it back down. It was cheap and she didn't like the brand, they made shit scotch.
"Oh, yeah. I heard about that."
"I'm sure you did since it was your witch that saved the day."
"You are welcome."
"Which adds to my confusion of exactly why you are here."
Elijah straightened his tie, "Why don't you just stay focused on keeping Elena safe and leave the rest to me," He spoke before turning around only to be stopped by Damon who sped in front of him.
The Salvatore smirked, "Not good enough."
Elijah stayed silent as he grabbed onto the Salvatore's neck with ease and held him against a wall.
Damon reached out, holding onto Elijah's neck in a feeble attempt to hurt him.
Elijah held back a scoff as he used his free hand to pry off Damon's, twisting the bones as he did so. "You young vampires, you're so arrogant. How dare you come in here and challenge me."
"You can't kill me, man. It's not part of the deal."
"Silence," Elijah spoke as he grabbed a pencil before stabbing it into Damon's neck.
He grabbed his handkerchief, letting go of the vampire before wiping off his hand, "I'm an Original. Show a little respect."
Elijah held out the slightly bloody handkerchief to Damon who grabbed it and held it to his neck.
"The moment you cease to be of use to me, you're dead... so, you should do what I say. Keep Elena safe," He smiled, beckoning Mia over who reluctantly walked toward him.
He held out his arm for her to take, "I believe you and I need to have a chat, Elskan."
She slowly linked her arm with his. Just the simple touch sent her heart into a frenzy.
Elijah smiled down at her as he led her outside, "I'm deeply sorry for what you just witnessed."
Mia shrugged, "I've seen worse."
He grimaced, "I'm sorry for beheading someone in front of you."
She held in a laugh.
"Am I amusing you?" He asked with a small smile.
"Greatly. What do you want?"
"How are you feeling? I recall you were a tad under the weather the last time I saw you."
"I'm fine. You healed me, remember?"
Mia hated small talk. She had never been good at keeping up a conversation and she was usually far too sarcastic for her own good.
"You know more than you let on. What more do you know about my family?"
She shrugged, "I know about the real curse and the reason why it exists. I know that it was Petrova blood that bound the spell which is why it needs to be Elena for the sacrifice."
"And who told you this?"
"A friend."
"Did they tell you anything else?"
Mia glanced up at him, "He said something about you sharing a soulmate with your siblings. Told me to be careful for some reason."
She doesn't know, Elijah thought to himself. Good, he didn't want her to find out from some measly human.
"Do you need a ride home?" He asked after a moment of silence.
She shrugged. She had walked there after the quinjet landed. "I guess. We'd have to stop somewhere first though."
He smiled as he led her towards his sleek black car, "Where to?"
— — —
The pair had stopped at what appeared to be an empty field. She unbuckled her seatbelt, "I'll be right back."
Elijah nodded, slightly confused as he watched her walk out into the field only for a massive structure to appear. It looked as though it were out of a sci-fi movie.
She disappeared into the ship for a few moments before walking out with a duffle bag and a silver case. She absentmindedly tapped away on her watch, closing the door before sending the quinjet away.
Elijah's eyes were wide as she sat back down in the passenger seat. He swallowed deeply as he stared at her.
"I'm ready," She said. For some odd reason, she felt like she could trust him. Normally, she didn't trust anyone, she didn't even trust Peter when she first met him but Elijah? She had trusted him from the moment she met him.
"Of course," He started before driving away from the field.
They were silent for a few minutes. Elijah didn't know what to say and Mia was extremely tired. She always was tired after flying.
"You left," He spoke up, breaking the silence.
She nodded, "My family needed me."
"And you kissed someone?"
Mia smirked, "Were you listening to my conversation? That's not very gentlemanly, Elijah."
He blushed slightly at her words. The way she said his name, even her voice sent shivers down his spine.
"I couldn't help it. Who was he?"
"Why? You jealous?"
"Yes."
Mia's eyes widened slightly at his bluntness. "He's just a friend. It was for a thing..."
"A thing? Tell me, Mia. Did you enjoy it?" He asked as he parked the car in front of her apartment building.
"No. It felt like I was kissing my brother. I washed my mouth out with bleach and vodka right after."
He grinned, speeding over to her side of the car as he opened the door for her. "And will you kiss him again?"
"No."
"Good," He spoke as he grabbed her bags from her arms. "Which apartments yours?"
Mia had led him up to her apartment before taking her bags from his hands and walking inside, "Thank you for the ride," She spoke as she set down the bags before standing in the doorway.
"It's no problem, Elskan."
She stared at him for a minute before her eyes widened, "Oh, I almost forgot," She told him before walking back inside and grabbing his jacket before handing it to him, "Your coat. I had it dry-cleaned for you. There was some blood on it."
He smiled down at her, "That's very kind of you. Keep it."
Her eyes widened, "Keep it? No, I couldn't. This looks like it's worth more than my rent."
It was. It was a ten thousand dollar jacket, not that the price mattered to him. "Keep it, Elskan, please."
Mia eventually nodded, bringing the coat closer to her. "Alright... Will you ever tell me what that means?"
He smiled as he shook his head, "Eventually, yes. But rest assured, I am not calling you 'stupid' or anything of the sort."
Mia was slightly surprised he hadn't asked to be invited in, or even attempted to walk through her door.
"Why did you heal me, Elijah?"
"You didn't deserve the treatment you received. I will do my best to ensure that never happens again," His brown eyes glanced inside her home only to see a familiar painting on her wall. He frowned slightly.
Elijah sped away after that. He was having trouble controlling himself around her. It had taken everything in him not to bite her.
When he arrived at his home he pulled his phone out from his pocket before dialling a number. It didn't take long for the person to answer, only two rings.
"Brother," He greeted, "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"I found her."
"I did too."
"She's in Mystic Falls, Niklaus. So is the doppelganger and Katerina."
"She's beautiful, isn't she, brother?"
— — —
Mia sighed as she walked further into her apartment. She glanced at the painting on her wall, it really was beautiful.
She had Tony ship it to her home when she and Bucky got back from London. She didn't want it to get damaged and she knew it would if she were to be the one to transport it.
She flopped onto her bed after taking off her shoes. "Hey, Friday?" She asked as she hugged Elijah's coat to her chest.
"Yes, Ms. Rutherford?"
"What does elskan mean?"
"It is a Viking term of endearment. The meaning varies between 'my darling' and 'my love'."
Mia frowned. This just added more questions to her ever-growing list. "Thank's Fri. Can you turn off the lights?"
