It was raining.

The sky was covered with dark clouds and loud thunder boomed across the sky, the rain pouring harder than before. The window was covered with rain drops, the view of Seoul slightly blur, and rustling of wind could be heard as well.

Jungkook sighed, and sat on his bed, as he watched the downpour of fat rain drops get heavier and heavier.

He loved the rain. It brought him peace to his heart and mind. The fragrance of wet soil, the cool breeze, the pitter-patter of rain drops, ah, it was more than satisfying for him.

But somehow, today, he couldn't feel relaxed. There was this unsettling feeling on his heart, making him tensed whenever he tried to loosen up.

Jungkook furrowed his brows, once again the unsettling feeling in his heart growing more than before.

The reason for this unsettling feeling of his was the current danger lurking around the city with no signs of who it was. He knew things were getting serious than they were a week ago, and this thought brought him a huge amount of burden.

Jungkook groaned, this feeling making him uneasy and he wanted to distract himself. But how? It was raining cats and dogs outside, so he couldn't go to work. Going through files day and night was also so tiring, and this weather made him lazy, besides, he needed a break.

So, he decided to grab an umbrella, his coat and head out in the rain to clear the mess in his mind.

The cool breeze immediately calmed Jungkook the moment he stepped out the apartment building, bringing out a small smile on his lips. Breathing in the fragrance of the wet soil, he started walking, not off to an particular destination in mind, the main goal to calm himself.

Jeon Jungkook, a calm and collected person, who simply believed in justice and the law, nothing else. Anyone who knew him would agree with the fact that he was a cold type of person, didn't really open up to a lot of people. He had basically everything, looks, a good job, and a good home, except for the fact, he wasn't a welcoming person, which people found very unattractive about him. Yet, there were still some girls who liked him, and the fact that he was a police officer, was just a cherry on top.

He was successful in his life, a perfect job at a very young age, he was basically born with a silver spoon in his mouth. That would be enough to explain why he was more of a reserved being.

He didn't expect to be friends with the six of the other officers, he simply refused to even acknowledge them. They were all childhood best friends, they all had seen Jungkook grow into a fine man, yet, this fine man still refused to be grateful of them. But he knew deep down, he wouldn't be a better person today without any of them.

Suddenly, a hand tapped him on shoulder, to which Jungkook immediately turned and raised his fist to punch and tackle the person, but his wrist was caught by a hand before he could land it on their face.

Jungkook's eyes widened, and his lips gaped, as he heaved a sigh of shock. "Taehyung....You scared me." He said breathlessly, relaxing now.

Taehyung chuckled, and let go of his wrist, gripping onto his own umbrella properly. "Your umbrella."

Jungkook positioned his umbrella properly, which got knocked out of his hand when he turned to hit him. "Geez, why did you creep up on me?"

Taehyung grinned, the same usual mischievous grin that irked Jungkook everytime he did. "What's the fun in not scaring people? Besides, you were deep in thought, you would have sensed me. I was pretty loud."

Jungkook rolled his eyes and turned back around to continue his walk, the latter covering up the distance to catch up with him. Walking side by side, they were surrounded by a comforting silence, as no one spoke for the first few moments.

"You don't need to worry, Kook." Taehyung spoke softly, as he kept on looking at front. Jungkook turned to him with wide eyes, then turned his eyes down to the road. "I am not worried, Tae. What are you talking about?"

"I know you, Kook," Taehyung sighed, "There is no point in lying. So believe me when I say, we are gonna do it. We will solve this case. It's gonna take time."

"That's the problem, Taehyung. We don't have time. It's not long before there's another murder case around the city. It's so irritating. We don't have any leads, nothing. We are a blank canvas. We don't even have the brush or paints to start the painting. What are we gonna do..."

"See? Fretting too much just leads to never ending hopeless conclusions. Relax for a bit. Enjoy the weather."

Jungkook glared at Taehyung, who just smiled in return. "Kim Taehyung. Our city is in danger. We don't have time to relax. What is wrong with you?"

Taehyung rolled his eyes. "I am okay, Jungkook. It's you worrying too much. Don't worry. We will be on leads soon. Trust me. Just so you know, some times things are overlooked. They are right in front of you, but your eyes miss them."

Jungkook tilted his head in confusion. "What do you--"

Taehyung's phone ringing cut Jungkook off in the middle of his sentence. Taehyung took out his phone, and a smiled a grazed his lips when he glanced at the caller ID. Jungkook frowned at the goofy expression.

"I forgot I have to go the flower shop today. See you later, Kook." Taehyung turned around to leave, but paused and turned around back to face Jungkook. His features were soft but no smile. "And relax. Take a few moments to breathe, let your thoughts wander for a while, and then, you can see yourself working properly rather than a jammed machine. Bye."

Jungkook watched as Taehyung continued his journey, and kept on staring at his back until he turned around the corner and completely disappeared.

Jungkook sometimes felt confused at Taehyung's behaviour. He was...secretive almost. Taehyung was like an unopened box of mysteries, that couldn't be opened so easily. He hid them so well, it was impossible for him to slip up. Maybe that's why Taehyung was the perfect lure and spy among the department.

Jungkook sighed, and continued his walk over to the coffee shop he liked. Passing bu every citizen, he felt at ease. Hearing people laugh and chat with no worries, walking around with no worries, made him feel reassured that he was doing a good job at keeping this people safe and smiling. But however, today was a different case. Jungkook felt uneasy. He knew that this peace was almost temporary before another murder case had taken place.

Relax for a few moments.

Taehyung's words ran through his mind, and he sighed. "Maybe I should stop for a few hours." He paused upon reaching the beautiful park, and stood there in the entrance, staring at the park.

After thinking for a while, he decided to roam around the park for a little while, letting his mind wander.

The park was almost empty, no one around here due to the rain, and he felt relaxed since no one was gonna disturb him. He watched over the flowers carefully, how they all struggled against the wind, some of the petals getting whiffed away from the plant. The strong ones stay, weak ones die.

Jungkook had to be strong. This wasn't a child's play, it was far more than that. Though they haven't gotten deep into the case, Jungkook knew this one was dangerous, crazy. They couldn't even risk to have a slip up, that's how critical things were.

Everything aside, the main question was, why are they even killing people like that? There was no robbery, no past link, not like they has found any thing on that anyways, so then what?

Jungkook sighed again, looking down at the wet pavement, before looking up. His feet halted, as his eyes landed on a girl.

The girl was laying on the slide, looking up at the dark sky, as rain drops fell on her face. She was, indeed, drenched in water, and water was dripping from her dress, which seemed like a school uniform. Nothing about this was weird, except for the fact that she had a hand above her face, her middle finger sticking out and pointed to the sky.

Jungkook raised a brow, slightly amused by  the girl, her actions reminding him of his old school days. He was even more abused when he heard her say, "Fuck you."

Huh.

Jungkook blinked at her, a fair distance from where she was though. He always found people talking to themselves a bit weird, but then again, who was he to judge one? Shaking his head, he was about to move on when he heard the girl speak once again.

"You shouldn't stand and stare at people like that way, mister. No one gave you the right to judge me based on just mere words."

He paused. A blank expression spread across his face, as he turned around, and raised an eyebrow at the girl, who was staring at him, still in the same position.

Without a word, Jungkook decided to not meddle with some young teenage girl and turned back around to leave.

"Jobless people thinking they own the law and judging is right."

And at that, Jungkook snapped his head at her. Eyes narrowed and cold, glaring at her. Oh, she was glaring at him too.

"Watch your mouth, miss. You're the one judging people here, not me. How do you know I'm jobless?" He spoke calmly, though his voice firm and cold.

The girl scoffed, and sat up, a smirk on her face, as she turned to face him. "Because what you did a few minutes ago, is what jobless people do."

"And that is based on..?"

"People's facts."

"Your own facts. I don't think people standing and staring are jobless, and sweetheart, don't call people judging when you exactly are doing the same. Don't be a hypocrite." Jungkook hissed.

At that the girl almost retorted back, before sighing and laying back down. After a few seconds, she spoke up.

"Anyways, who are you?" She spoke softly this time, realising what she said was wrong. Jungkook rolled his eyes at her irritating behavior, but replied. "Someone who isn't jobless."

The girl looked at him, "I'm serious."

"Well, I'm Jungkook." Jungkook shrugged.

"Hey, Jungkook, I'm Jae-hwa. I apologise for my words and behavior, I was being a bitch." The girl, Jae-hwa, spoke in a monotone manner.

"Finally," he scoffed, "It's okay, sorry for staring too. Now, Bye--"

When Jae-Hwa saw Jungkook turning around to leave, she immediately called for his attention. "No wait, listen!" Jungkook groaned internally and turned around, a scowl visible on his face. "What do you want?"

She almost snapped at him for his tone, but stopped, and sighing. "I don't know if it's safe or not, giving some information to a strang--"

Jungkook chuckled, rather smugly, confusing her. "Sweetheart, I am a detective, what possible crime would I do? Do you need help?" His voice became more polite and soft at the end, realising that the girl needed some help.

Jae-hwa nodded her head, as she found out  the man she messed up with was actually a detective. "Yes, actually. I need to contact someone. I was robbed on my way to home, and I lost my phone too, and couldn't contact anyone to take me home. My house is far, and I can't walk till there--"

"How far is your house?" Jungkook cut her off. Once again ignoring his rudeness, Jae-hwa replied, "Almost in the outskirts. But I have a relative living in the city, but I don't know their address. I just wanna call--"

She stopped herself mid sentence this time, when Jungkook placed his umbrella over head, upon observing that she was shivering in the cold, and stood next to her. Jae-hwa didn't mind it, knowing and feeling he didn't mean anything bad.

"You want my phone? Here. Just call." Jungkook handed over his phone to her, and she immediately called her relative.

"Hey, Soo....Yeah, listen....I am stuck. I was robbed, and stuck in a park. Can you please come and get me?...Oh. I contacted from a police's phone...Oh, you wanna talk? Okay." Jae-hwa handed over the phone to Jungkook, who looked confused.
Never the less, he placed the phone to his ear, and responded.

"Hello?" A puff of air released from his lips, and mixed with the light smog lingering around the park, the cold sending shivers down his spine, the rain not helping either.

"Jungkook!" The said man flinched in an instant, and gasped silently, eyes wide. He recognised that voice, and exhaled. "SooIn? What the..."

He turned around to look at Jae-hwa, who was staring at him wide eyed too. She gasped, "You know her?!"

Jungkook nodded subtly to her, before replying to SooIn. "You know what--SooIn listen--Yah. Okay--Oh God, just shut up. I will bring her to your house." Before he could get a reply, he cut the phone. He turned to face Jae-hwa, and sighed.

"What's your full name?" He asked.

"Choi Jae-hwa, yours?"

"Jeon Jungkook. Now let's get you home, Jae-hwa."

_____

Since FFTBG ended, I brought up Poisoned Love back. The characters in that story are much bolder and tough than the old characters. It's mostly dark themed, but I was so eager to write it!

Also, sorry for taking so long!! I apologise! I was going through some emotional problems so I couldn't update it.

Love you all! Take care!
