The Seoul Detective Branch was busy just
as always. Officers working seriously on a few cases, some talking about their lives, and then, there were some who were busy ogling at others.
This office had every kind of soul, from the innocent ones to the perverted ones. But in the middle, there was also a category of hardworkers.
And that's where Min Yoongi belonged to.
He was continuously writing down the points he could use in the following case he was solving, and when he couldn't, he swirled the pen in between his fingers.
He pulled his lower lip between his teeth and continued to stare at the photos in front of him.
His room was nothing extravagant, it was simple, with frames and frames of certificates and badges hung on the walls left and right. There was a sofa on the corner of the room, probably meant for his relaxation during the times he would exhaust himself. His table wasn't usually a mess, but currently, it was. Papers, documents, and photos covered the whole furniture from every corner, possibly hard to more things if he wanted.
Yoongi was so engrossed on his work to even notice the door to his office open. A figure stepped in, silently peaking in, before knocking softly on the door.
Yoongi was startled from his work, as he glanced up at the door, to see a head poking in. Returning to his poker-faced demeneor, he let the person in.
The person bowed respectfully, to which Yoongi nodded in return, and stepped inside. They held a document in their hands, ready to show it to Yoongi, who was already staring at it.
"Inspector Moon, what brings you here?" Yoongi asked, leaning back on his chair.
Inspector Moon smiled and replied, "Sir, I brought these documents for you as per Senior Superintendent General, Sir Seokjin's command."
Yoongi nodded, "You can keep it on the de--"
Both Yoongi and Inspector Moon pursed their lips, after realising there was no space to keep a document on the desk. The Inspector smiled, and kept it on the chair instead.
"Here, I have kept it sir."
Yoongi nodded before sighing, "Inspector Moon,"
"Yes, Officer?"
"Please send Superintendent Jeon in my office as soon as you can please. Tell him we have important things to discuss if he argues."
Inspector Moon bowed, before Yoongi dismissed them.
The Senior Superintendent General looked outside of his window-wall, watching Seoul moving on like nothing is wrong and everything is just fine.
The door of the office opened again, and stepped in Superintendent Jeon, who was in demand by Yoongi earlier.
The younger did nothing but just watched his senior staring off to safe and clearly lost in his own little world.
He didn't say anything for the first five minutes, before he coughed but failed to get Yoongi's attention. He sighed before walking to him.
He stood next to Yoongi's chair, staring at Seoul with him.
"Seoul looks unbothered." Jungkook spoke in his deep voice, eyes void of any emotion and a poker face.
"Isn't it supposed to be that way, Superintendent Jeon?" Yoongi exhaled, still mesmerized by Seoul's beauty.
Jungkook remained silent, before stating out his opinions. "Yes. It should be. But I just think, the aura is saying otherwise. There is someone lurking out there, killing innocents--"
"We don't know if the victims are innocent or not, Jungkook." Yoongi stated calmly. Jungkook's jaw clenched before he snapped his head towards Yoongi. "What possible crime could children do, Officer Min?"
Yoongi remained silent, before standing up and looking down at Jungkook, who was staring back.
"They do the biggest crimes. They are the reasons men even do crimes for."
Jungkook was tight-lipped now. Even though he didn't want to admit, but Yoongi was right. So, he sighed.
"Well, what did you call me for?" He asked.
Yoongi turned back to his desk and motioned towards the documents scattered on his desk.
"You see this?"
"What's new? My desk is replica of this currently." Jungkook scoffed.
Yoongi rolled his eyes, "You idiot, I mean this."
Jungkook just blinked, looking at all the documents, before staring back at him, "Which one?"
Yoongi groaned and picked up a file, "This one! This one right here!"
"The Byuns. Yeah, what about it?"
Yoongi sighed in frustration, "They were the first ones to be murdered. But why is there no file about them? No documents at all."
"Maybe they didn't bri--"
"Oh Jesus!" Yoongi exclaimed and dialed another number on his phone, making Jungkook furrow his brows.
"Why in the world are--"
"Because you're of no use."
"But why him?"
"Senior Superintendent Kim, come to my office immediately." Yoongi turned back to Jungkook. "Because he isn't what he shows."
Jungkook rolled his eyes and groaned when the door to Yoongi's office burst open and stepped in Senior Superintendent Kim.
"You called me, Yoongs?" The man smiled.
"For fuck's sake, damn Taehyung you can't just go out screaming Yoongi's nickname like that! You're at work!" Jungkook yelled.
Taehyung's gaze snapped towards him in a second and his once joyful eyes were now stone cold. "Then you better watch your tone, Superintendent Jeon." He smirked when Jungkook flustered up.
He stepped in and raised a brow at their senior, who was looking at the files. "What did you call for? Is that file the reason?" Taehyung walked towards Yoongi.
Yoongi nodded, "The Byuns were the first family to be murdered, yet, there is no information about them. Why? Did they really missed a file there?"
Taehyung furrowed his brows as he took the file from his hands and read through it. The files contained detailed information about the murder, with photos attached to every page. But, there was no information about the family.
"I don't think so. Hoseok isn't a careless type. He wouldn't leave until or unless he found all the files. I guess they didn't bother to take it."
Jungkook was confused. "No information on the victim? What the...?"
"Police are careless nowadays. I guess their might be some information available on their files. Any hint, even a small one, as to why someone would kill them...so brutally."
Yoongi sighed, "But where are those files? Police station doesn't have them."
Taehyung shrugged and gave the file back. He looked outside the window, thinking.
"Don't hospitals save records too?" Both of the seniors turned to look at Jungkook with wide eyes.
"Yes..." Taehyung nodded, "Yes they do."
"Then maybe we should che--"
"That will take too long. Let's ask for help then." Yoongi cut him off.
"But they only have medical records. Nothing more."
"At least it would give us a lead as to where they come from or not, right?" Jungkook smirked.
Taehyung sighed, "But so many hospitals...."
"I know a person. We all know a person."
"Who?" Both the juniors questioned together.
"Let's discuss this matter over a cup of coffee, hm?" Yoongi stood up from his chair, adjusting his coat before looking at the juniors, who nodded.
"Sure," Jungkook rolled his shoulders before sighing. "Besides, I would love a bit of caffeine in my system."

"Can I have black coffee....with six shots of espresso?"
"Oh damn, Yoongi! Just do cocaine!" Jungkook yelled in annoyance while Yoongi ordered in front of him.
Yoongi rolled his eyes and took his order while looking for a seat.
Jungkook came up next and the espresso gurl asked him for his order, "What would you like sir?"
"Coffee."
"Sir," the girl sighed, a vein could be easily seen popping from her neck, clearing the fact that she had enough, "How would you like your coffee?"
"As black as my soul." replied, Jungkook.
"Okay, sir."
After a few moments, the barista returned with a cup of his order and handed over to him.
"Thanks--wait. It's milk." Jungkook pouted.
Yoongi and Taehyung spat the coffee and started laughing.
"Exactly. Now please, I have other orders to take." The girl gave him a sarcastic smile.
With an annoyed face, Jungkook returned to his seat, back to his seniors.
"That was really savage." Taehyung chuckled. "I am never coming back here again." Jungkook grumbled.
"You asked for it. Don't forget," Yoongi sighed. "She didn't know you, of course that's what she gives you. You're a blank canvas for her."
"Whatever. So, what you gonna tell Jin?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi took a sip of his coffee before placing the cup softly back on the table, "I will be straight forward. I mean, there is no use of even trying to broach the topic near him, he would catch on immediately."
"Well, would he allow?" Taehyung asked.
"Look, we have no choice. We need those records. We--" Yoongi was cut off by his phone ringing. He sighed and picked it up.
"Officer Min speaking from Seoul Detective Branch, how may--"
"Yoongi Hyung, it's me. Jimin."
"Yes, Jimin?"
"Is Taehyung with you? It's just that...I really need to have a talk with him. He left his phone in his office."
"It's important?" Yoongi furrowed his brows.
"It's about the murder details. As we are solving the first case, it's about them of course. So apparently, I and Taehyung had been ordered by Jin to go check up at the site with Hoseok Hyung. So, we are leaving after lunch. It would be better of you deliver this news to him."
"Okay."
"Oh and Hyung."
"Yes, Jimin?"
"Jin Hyung invited us all for family dinner, and he called you in his office after lunch."
Yoongi sighed. Family dinner at Jin's house meant bringing people he did not want to engage with anymore. But he has no choice but to listen to Jin.
"Okay, fine. When do you need Taehyung there?"
"As soon as possible would be better."
"Hm, sure. Now hang up." He sighed once again as Jimin ended the call, before looking up at his two juniors who were waiting for explanation.
"What did Jimin say?" Taehyung asked while sipping his coffee. "You, him and Hoseok are going for a survey."
Taehyung frowned, "But--"
"Jin's orders. Can't do anything."
And the latter sighed. Jungkook suddenly leaned in and whispered, "Wait...doesn't usually the family dinner mean--"
"Yes," Yoongi sighed in annoyance, "Yes it means that she will be coming too, but honestly you know what, Jungkook? I don't care now."
Taehyung stood up and shrugged, "I'm leaving. Sometimes, I just can't really handle those shitty words coming from your mouth which are probably lies, Yoongi." With that, he left the cafeteria, startling a few customers near them.
Yoongi kept looking at his drink, face blank and void of any emotion. Jungkook silently looked back at the door to the direction Taehyung let before turning back to Yoongi.
"Hyung?" He softly called.
"Yes?"
"Let's go."
"Jungkook?" Yoongi called out.
"Yes?"
"Stop eavesdropping into my calls."
"Sorry."
"Like, Jimin I think you should post pone your date with your girlfriend for a few days till we solve this matter. It's important anyways." Hoseok spoke to Jimin while driving.
Him, Jimin and Taehyung were now in the car and were headed to their destination set for now-- The Byun Residence.
"I know you are right, Hyung. But today is the last date we will go on. We talked about this already."
Hoseok looked at the silent latter sitting at the back of the car, staring out the window, looking rather annoyed.
"Taehyung? What's wrong?" He called out, making Jimin furrow his brows and turn his head to look as well.
Taehyung looked at the front with wide eyes, probably startled out of his stupor. He blinked a few times before sighing in content, "It's about Yoongi."
Jimin groaned, "I already have an idea what this is about and you know what, Tae? Just drop it. It's really not our matter anymore. Let Yoongi handle and realise it himself. Just focus on what's going on."
"And what's going on, anyways?" Taehyung grumbled. "An important case, where numerous murders are occurring probably everyday and there is no damn clue as to why, how and by whom it's done. And we need your cunning mind to be on spot, Taehyung. Got it?" Hoseok spoke with a firm voice.
Taehyung nodded, "Yes, Hoseok. Loud and clear."
"Good. Now get yourselves ready," Hoseok stared at both of his juniors with a stern face.
"Cause now we're at the scene."
Jimin and Taehyung waited for Hoseok to leave the car and then left after giving each other a nod of confidence.
The three detectives stood in front of the door of the large house, hearts beating fast as to wondering what hid behind the doors.
Hoseok slowly opened the door, palms clamped in sweat, and heavy breaths of anticipation.
But his heart dropped, shoulders drooped and a frown cascaded on his beautiful heart shaped lips as soon as he stepped inside.
Soon, Jimin and Taehyung stepped inside and followed the same expression as him.
The three detectives stood their in with wide eyes and frowns.
Only one question was lingering in the atmosphere. Nobody said it out loud.
Until Hoseok finally broke the ice.
"What the fuck? What happened in here?"

It didn't take long for Jungkook and Yoongi to be in the office of the desired person Yoongi wanted to meet.
They were sitting on the chairs in the front, and meanwhile Officer Kim was sitting in front of them.
"What brings you here, Yoongi?" He asked.
Yoongi sighed, "We need your permission, Jin."
"For what?"
"Listen, there are some files missing, and those are important and needed. We can only collect them from hospitals and I would like to ask you for this. It's really important, Jin. We have to do this."
Jin furrowed his brows, "Get to the point, Yoongi."
"So--"
"He wants to call Seohyun. To ask about medical records of the Byuns to further investigate in the case." Jungkook cut him off.
Jin's eyes widen in shock and he turns back to Yoongi, "Why would you even think of this? Yoongi, I can't drag my family into this! It's too risky!"
Yoongi sighed, "But, Jin. It's important. Why would I even be here if I knew this was not important? Do I look like the type to waste my energy and time on that?"
"I--guys.....It's not just about that. Jesus, if they murderer found a small hint about this, my whole family would be in the line of danger."
"Jin, I promise I won't bother your family anymore. I swear. Just this once." Yoongi pleaded.
Jin remained quiet for a moment, before sighing and nodding. "You better be careful. Remember, there is always someone watching us."
"How are you so confident about that?" Jungkook asked.
Jin turned his attention towards the junior and smirked, "Ten years of my life I have spent on this field, don't joke with me, Jungkook. I have an idea by now. A case as big as this, are you really stupid enough to think no one is watching?"
Jungkook gulped, "Oh damn...."
"Exactly. So when do we get to call?" Yoongi piped in.
"Tonight. We better do this early. You guys are invited to my house for dinner." Jin smiled.
"What about the other three?" Jungkook asked.
"Of course they are. It's a family dinner."
"I....You want your home in one piece or not?" Yoongi raised a brow in annoyance.
Jin chuckled, "Jesus, my house is already a chaos, what more could possibly happen?"
"Seriously, Jin?"
"Whatever. Just try to be careful and remember, be there at my house sharp at 6 in the evening. Now, I'll be leaving for the further meetings I need to attend. Get back to work, and Yoongi, you're attending the meeting next to this."
"Hey--"
"No argument." Jin's sharp toned voice cut Yoongi off. "I will take my leave now, gentlemen. Excuse me." With a nod, he left his office, leaving his two juniors in the office.
Yoongi kept staring at the wall in front of him blankly.
"Hyung, now you really have no choice..." Jungkook spoke up softly. Yoongi groaned, "Damn...I have to make a call."
Jungkook nodded as he stood up and left the office. Yoongi took out his phone and scrolled through his contacts, searching for that one particular name.
He sighed when he found it.
While still regretting his whole life, he pressed on the call button and waited for the person to pick it up.
His heart raced, unwillingly, when he heard the voice he hadn't heard for so long.
"Hello? Yoongi?"
Yoongi sighed nervously.
I am done for.
