(if you spot ✨grammatical errors,✨ my bad, i wrote half of this at like four am while sobbing and eating chips)

✨ker-smash✨

     Alexis lurched awake suddenly at the sound of shattering glass, hands raised as if to ward off an attacker. UM. WHAT WAS THAT. 

 She staggered out of bed, pulling her blanket off the bed and wrapping herself up to fight off the morning chill. She blinked blearily, slipping her phone off the table to check the time. She winced at the bright light of the screen. 

For a split second, she glimpsed a huge, shadowy creature, with blood chillingly empty white eyes and long, raggedy white hair lurking behind her. With her spine crawling and every instinct in her body telling her to run, Alexis whipped around, her phone falling to the floor with a quiet thud.

The brunette pulled her blanket tighter to her, running a hand through her shoulder length hair, her green eyes glinting as she nervously scanning her room for the figure. I don't like this... 

 She carefully picked her phone up off the soft carpet and leaned against the wall, muscles tense, checking the time. 

3:05 am.

..I really don't like this..

 Alexis shivered as she stepped away from the wall and out of her room to investigate the noise that'd woken her. She tiptoed down the dim hall, the floors creaking painfully loud, peering into her living room as she stepped past. 

Alexis scanned the dark room for the source of the sound, and finding nothing, turned to check the bathroom. I really don't feel like cleaning up glass at three in the morning...I hope it was just a dream..

She made her way into her bathroom. It was a small room, with ga tile, sky blue walls, a marble sink, and in the center of the room was a large circular mirror with an intricately carved gold frame. 

Alexis had been gifted the mirror by her grandmother a few years prior, and it was usually a comforting sight. Emphasis on 'was.' Alexis hit the light switch and immediately her hand flew to her mouth. The antique mirror was fractured everywhere, thousands of cracks spiderwebbing across its broken surface. 

Alexis pulled her phone out of her pocket.

 ✨LEXI : MOM COME GET ME I'M SCARED 😭

❤️ MAMA: *no reply bc duh it's 3am and alexis is an adult and needs to grow up*

✨LEXI: MOM PLS 😭

✨LEXI: MOM 😭

*MISSED CALL.* 😩

*MISSED CALL.* 🤨

*MISSED CALL.* 🥴

Alexis whimpered quietly, shaking her hands as she reinspecting the mirror, double checking the damage was still there and she wasn't just hallucinating. DAMMIT. DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT. 

"How the hell did this even happen..?" Alexis muttered. She looked up again, noting that the cracks all spread from the very center of the mirror, as if someone had punched it, and started typing frantically on her phone.

"Why...did..my...mirror...just...shatter.." she mumbled under her breath. "..'cmon, google, don't let me down now.."

zzzt-

The bathroom light flickered, and went out, plunging the already anxious brunette into darkness. Alexis whimpered again. "crap, that's probably not good.."

Alexis' phone beeped, and then the screen flashed with the image of the long white haired creepy shadow thing she'd seen, before turning black. Alexis yelped, frantically pressing the 'on' button. "shit, that's definitely not good-"

Alexis wrapped her blanket tighter and sat down in the corner of the bathroom, rocking slowly. 

"aw crap...i don't know what to do- this always looked so easy in the horror movies- am I gonna die?"

"yes." 

"oh. well, that's helpfWHAT" Alexis screeched, eyes widening as she looked up.

"why, hello to you, too," A slithery voice rasped, sending a chill down Alexis' spine.

"WHAA?? HUH? WHERE??WHA?" Alexis shot out of her corner, peering around the dark bathroom, hands raised, ready to punch whatever was out there. She looked back down, unable to see, and began trying to turn on her phone. "DAMMIT!! TURN ON!!"

"well that's not very polite, now, is it..."

Then Alexis felt the most horrible sensation ever, like the physical embodiment of fear wrapping its tight, cold claws around her neck. She couldn't even describe it, it just felt so..wrong.  She wanted to drop down in a ball and cry for her mom to come help her. But she couldn't move. She couldn't scream. She couldn't breathe.

 Alexis stood there, shaking, eyes fixed on the broken shards of the mirror, which were lying on the bathroom floor, terrified to look up. Unfortunately, she didn't have a choice. 

The thing grabbed her jaw, wrenching it up to stare into what was left intact of the mirror.  "look..such a pretty face."

Alexis first locked gazes with herself.  Her terrified expression, the tears forming at the corners of her eyes, and the silent cry of horror she couldn't seem to give voice to. Too struck by the gruesome, terrible thing that was smiling at her, if it could be called a smile. The pale empty gouges in its skull focused on her, head tilting slowly at an awful angle.

"W-what are you?" Alexis choked, eyes locked to it. 

The creature tossed it's head back with a sickening laugh. "don't worry about that, you won't live long enough to find out."

(i can't do slay death scenes rn, but basically our girl lexi died a horrible death with muffled screaming and lots of gore 🤩)

     The bathroom lights flickered back on. The smartphone lying on the cold tile slowly started to ding with messages. It was 6:42 am, the house was quiet, the mirror restored to its full beauty on the wall, the mysterious cracks gone, the once gold vine frame fully intact again, but now stained a dark, sinister shade of garnet.

❤️ MAMA: Honey?
