I rapidly click a pen as my friends, bar Steven and Jackie, watch a television program. I tune them out as they discuss the events of the show, but look up when a disheveled Hyde emerges from his room.

I raise my eyebrows at his loose belt and his untucked shirt.

"Hey, can you guys keep it down, please?" he requests hoarsely.

"You have lipstick on your chin," Donna smirks.

"Oh, Hyde, it's for your lips!" Fez chides.

"Maybe he's got a girl back there," Eric grins. "Who's the lucky lady?"

"I never kiss and tell," he shrugs before smiling cheekily, "It's Kat Peterson."

"Yeah, right!" Donna scoffs. "You're in your bedroom with the most popular girl in school."

Knowing that my status happens to be higher than Kat's, I decide to keep my mouth shut for fear of anyone suggesting that I've been in a similar situation with Hyde.

"Look, just keep it down, alright? You guys are killing the mood," he snaps.

I obnoxiously click my pen with even more aggression than I had been using before.ย

He sends me a glare, "Stop it, Princess."

The corners of my lips twitch up. "No can do. Sorry."

He snatches the pen out of my grip and tosses it across the room before rushing back to his little closet.

Jackie bounces in and greets her boyfriend with a kiss. "Okay, so we're all set for our big dinner party."

"Oh, great, a dinner party," Kelso chimes sarcastically.

"Here you go!" She cheerily hands Donna and me some pink lace invitation cards.

"You and a guest are cordially invited for an evening of cocktails, dinner, and TV," I read aloud. "Well, thanks for inviting me, Jackie."

"Of course!" she beams. "But you can't be slutty. It'll be a classy party."

I cross my arms. "You know that I'm not a slut anymore, right?"

"Well, that's debatable."

"You call me out on sleeping with guys every day, and I'm changing, so stop."

"Whatever," she shrugs. I sigh as she goes on to explain the dress code. I love Jackie, but she can be a real bitch sometimes.

"Finally, I can wear my tuxedo T-shirt!" Fez grins.

"Sorry, Fez. I forgot to invite you and Hyde," she says.

"It's never too late!"

"Okay, bye."

"Don't worry Fez, I'm sure you and Hyde can come," Michael shrugs.

"No, they can't!" Jackie spits, returning to the room.

"Okay, I get it, they can't come."

"Come with me," she sighs, dragging him out.

"I'll give you a hundred bucks if you don't make me go to this party," Eric says to Donna, trying to bribe his way out.

"Show me the hundred," she challenges.

"Damn."

"Anastasia, can I be your plus one?" Fez asks hopefully.

I shake my head. "Sorry, Fezzie. There's a certain etiquette code with dinner parties. If the host doesn't want someone there, no one else is allowed to invite them."

"Oh, come on, it's not like you have anyone else to go with!"

Donna sucks in a breath. "Too soon."

"Well, the party is tonight, so I'd better go home and start putting on cologne."

As he disappears up the stairs, Kat and Hyde stumble out of the latter's room.

"That was fun," Kat smiles.

"No, Disneyland was fun. That was nasty," Hyde chuckles.

She kisses him quickly before acknowledging me and stepping outside.

"Damn!" Donna laughs. "Kat Peterson. Nice."

"Yep, she's slummin' it and I'm lovin' it," he boasts.

I roll my eyes, and he takes notice. "Jealous, Princess?"

"Why would I be?" I scoff. "In fact, I'm disappointed. Making out with Kat doesn't mean you're any less of an asshole."

He cocks his head to the side pompously. "I bet you wish you were her."

"As if!" I stand, trying to ignore the intrigued eyes of Eric and Donna. "Whatever, I'm going home."

"Oh, before you go..." he says.

He stands and grabs a hold of my wrist, jerking me closer to him and pressing his lips onto mine. I return the gesture for a second, my hands splayed across his chest, before I harshly push him away.

Idiot! He did that right in front of them!

"You still have lipstick on your chin." I sneer and strut past him.

Eric and Donna sit on my bed silently as they wait for me to finish getting ready.

"So, you and Hyde, huh?" the Forman boy mumbles.

"Yeah," I reply simply.

"He wasn'tย lying, then."

I turn sharply. "What?"

"He told me. I just didn't believe that he'd score with you."

I clip an earring on. "'I never kiss and tell.' Asshole."

"Why were you keeping it a secret, anyway?" Donna queries.

"He said something about us hating each other and embarrassment that he enjoyed it and shit like that."

Eric snickers, "He admitted that he liked it?"

I put my hands on my hips. "Why wouldn't he?"

"No! I just mean that he doesn't say that kind of stuff."

I smile sweetly. "Not to you."

"Burn," Donna chuckles. "What are you going to do about it?"

I shrug. "I guess it isn't too much of a big deal, it just caught me off-guard. And I don't know where we stand right now so I don't want him putting labels on things. Plus, he thinks he's gained a new makeout buddy so I might not even be useful. I've heard good things about Kat. I'll talk to him later, but we're running late. Are you guys ready?"

"Yeah."

The party is so boring that Eric suggests that death would make it better. I gently nudge Kelso away from the piano, where he plays off-key sequences of notes, and take over in an attempt to soothe Jackie. My lessons from my younger years seem to pay off because she looks more collected once the music fits her requested vibe.

The doorbell rings and she rushes to open it. For a moment, the piano is the only sound in the room before she shrieks, "Hyde? Fez? Michael!"

"Oh, good, it's Hyde, Fez, and Michael," Kelso grins.

"Hey, fellas," Steven saunters in. "What's to eat?"

"Are these melon balls for anyone?" Fez asks as he picks up a bowl of fruit.

Jackie snatches it away from him. "Why are they here?"

"I invited them!" says Kelso. "You're always talking about manners, and I wanted to be mannerly! Hey, Chuck! Welcome to the party!"

As the house slowly floods with more and more people and the sound of my playing is drowned out by loud rock music, I slip away to a side of the room where Hyde stands.

"Excuse us for a moment," I smile to the girl he's talking to.

She politely walks away and Steven scowls at me. "Man, I was picking her up!"

"We need to talk," I whisper harshly.

"Do you want a beer?"

I bite my lip and take it from his hand. "Thanks. Now, listen. I thought we were keeping our... thing a secret."

He shrugs. "Yeah, but it's over now, so it doesn't matter."

"That's not what you said last night. And you kissing me doesn't exactly scream, 'Over.'"

He brushes a piece of hair behind my ear. "Relax, sweetheart. I know it can be hard to get over me."

I slap his hand away. "I don't know if it was Kat or something else, but you've been acting like a real dick lately. So when she ignores you because you're too much of a failure to be seen talking to her, don't try to hook up with me, because I'll make your life a living hell if you do."

His face remains emotionless, and it drives me insane. I can't stand not being able to read him, and I definitelyย can't stand the fact that he has no reaction to my words.

Coincidentally, Kat and her friends walk by us. Hyde stops her and offers her a beer.

"No, thanks," she says, disgust lacing her tone.

They walk away, laughing at him.

"She just blew me off, man!" Hyde complains to Fez as he strolls over. "Do you believe that?"

"Yes, I do," the foreign boy nods.

"I told you, asshole," I smirk.

"Get bent, Princess!"

Jackie pulls me to the side. "Ana, can you come with me to my room? I need someone to feel bad for me."

"Yeah," I nod readily, "let's go."

I grab Donna's hand as we pass her. As soon as we get to Jackie's room, she sits down on the bed and breaks down.

"Hey, hey, it's okay," I soothe, hugging her tightly.

"What's wrong?" Donna frowns.

"Girls, please. I don't want to talk about Michael," she sniffles before turning to face us. "So what is your honest opinion about him?"

"Honestly?" the redhead sighs. "You have some expectations of Kelso that aren't entirely realistic. You want him to be sophisticated and smart, but he's the complete opposite."

"How could you say that?" she gasps.

"Jackie, he's an amazing guy, but he isn't perfect, and you need to actually talk to him instead of ordering him around all the time," I agree.ย

She balls her fists up and collapses into my arms once again. "I just want him to be good!"

"If he isn't good enough for you at his lowest points, he might not be good enough for you at all."

"I love him."

"Then you have to compromise. Talk it out."

She sniffles again. "God, guys, I'm sorry. And Anastasia, I'm sorry for constantly calling you a whore. I know you're trying to change, and that's more than I can say for myself."

"Thanks, but for once I'd rather focus on you. Are you ready to go back downstairs?"

She lifts her head, nods confidently, and starts leading us back to the main room. "I'm not expecting all of the people to be gone, but hopefully he fixed something."

I offer a comforting smile as she opens the door.

The scene before us is horrifying. The guests lounge around the chairs as if nothing is going on while the guys watch Kelso smack a garbage can that is on fire with a pillow.

I rush to push him to the side as Donna ushers everyone out. I grab a fire extinguisher from its convenient spot under a desk and spray the can hastily.

After doing damage control, Jackie goes to tell Kelso off while I chat with Fez.

"You know, you have the most beautiful eyes," he flirts.

"Thanks, but they're brown," I chuckle. "Nothing special about those."

"No, my dear. The way the light reflects reminds one of smooth caramel chocolate, the candy of love. It is so easy to get lost in stunning eyes like yours."

I remain speechless for a few moments before laughing and kissing his cheek. "That was really good, Fez, thank you."

"It was alright," Hyde shrugs.

"No need to be sour just because I'm right."

"Shut up."

Kat's friend group disappears through the doors in front of us, but she stays behind. "Hello, Steven," she smiles.

He leans against the doorframe. "I see how this is going to be. When you're with your little clique, you're too good for me."

"Right. But they're gone now, so hi."

"You know for a rich girl, you're kind of skanky."

I stifle a giggle as Fez protectively wraps an arm around my waist and kicks him. He whispers, "For a rich girl, it would be nice for you to have sex with me, but I'm glad you're not skanky."

"Be quiet," I grin.

Hyde smirks. "Come on, I'll show you the garage."

I raise my eyebrows in surprise as he leads her off. I know he's desperate but I thought he'd have too much pride for that.

"Oh, Anastasia, he does not deserve you," Fez sighs, shaking his head in disappointment.

"What, did he tell you, too?"

"No. Fez just knows how love works. I can tell when someone is in love."

"I'm not in love. Sure, he's hot, but I don't love him."

"You are beginning to."

I cross my arms. "You're crazy."

"Maybe so, but I think that's one of my most endearing qualities," he smirks.

I laugh quietly as he gently twirls me to no music. It's random, but it strangely lifts my spirits. He pulls me in for a hug.

"Just know that any man, whether it be Hyde or James or anyone else, he is lucky to have you."

"Thank you, Fezzie."

"Yes, yes. And also know that I will always be available if you want to have sex."

"Okay," I chuckle. "Thanks again."

"You're welcome."
