LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME

𝔞𝔟𝔟𝔞

Although Hyde and I leave the ceremony, it is by no means over. After he gives up on trying to get me to put out, we return to the Pinciotti's home.

"Where have you two been?" Fez huffs. "Eric and Donna ditched me and Kelso is busy juggling Laurie and Jackie."

"We were doing it," Hyde exhales.

I smack him upside the head. "Shut up, you dillhole. We just stopped by my house."

"Look, this will cheer you up. You take all of the half-finished drinks..." Steven grabs a few partially-full glasses, "and make one giant uber drink." He takes a sip of his concoction. "In this case, Tom Wallbanger bloody sunrise on the beach."

I snatch it from him and place it on a table. "Don't drink that, idiot. There's way too much alcohol in there."

"And you'd miss me if I died from alcohol poisoning, right?"

"Not a chance," I sneer.

"It's alright, Princess, no need to lie to yourself."

I'm about to snap back when Jackie grabs ahold of my arm and jerks me towards her, pulling me into the hall without any explanation.

In a flash, I'm seated onto the steps of the Formans' front door with Jackie and Donna.

"Alright. Tell me everything," the raven-haired girl demands.

I furrow my eyebrows. "What's going on?"

"Look at her!"

I turn my eyes to Donna and I gasp when I practically see the words "I had sex" written on her forehead. "Oh my god!"

"I'm not telling you guys anything," the redhead deflects uncomfortably.

"Come on, Donna, we're supposed to be friends!" Jackie complains.

"It's fine," I soothe. "If she isn't ready to-"

"No, there's no excuse. I need dirt. So... what'd it look like?"

"Jackie!" Donna scolds.

"Okay, we'll come back to that one. How was it?"

"I really don't want to talk about it."

I share a look with my smaller friend and mutter, "Oh no."

"That bad, huh?" Jackie sighs in pity.

"No! It was good. It just wasn't what I expected," Donna admits. "I... I don't think we did it right."

"So Eric isn't good?"

"It was more like... neither of us was good."

"Oh, it's not up to the woman to be good."

I purse my lips as the conversation continues.

"I love Eric, but when the moment came, it was just, like... awkward and weird. I don't know, I just felt so far away, you know? The whole time, I was just thinking, 'This is it. This is what everyone...'"

"Everyone what?"

"...That's as far as I got."

"Oh. That was the problem."

"That was not the problem."

"Trust me, that's a problem."

"Look, Donna," I comfort, "everyone's first time is a little awkward, especially if you're both virgins. Even mine was, and I was with someone more experienced. It's a new feeling and it might not live up to your expectations, but it'll get better..." I add a wink, "with practice."

"Thanks," she laughs. "Just, please don't tell anyone, okay?"

"Of course."

"Jackie?"

"Yeah, okay," Jackie shrugs.

"Seriously."

"Okay!"

The door to my house swings open and in walks Michael Kelso, causing me to glance away from Fahrenheit 451 to him.

A few weeks ago, I gave him a key, as he often comes over to vent about his issues with Jackie, but since he has reluctantly admitted to not being able to use the key and is too stubborn to let me teach him, I've decided to keep my door unlocked. I know it's a major hazard, but it's just so much more convenient.

He greets me quietly and adjusts me on the couch so that I'm lying beside him, my head on his chest.

"What's up?" I ask gently, not being able to see his face but sensing that his body is tense.

I relax once I realize he was only trying to hold in the fit of giggles that come pouring out. "Man, Donna and Eric did it!"

My head snaps up so I can look at him. "Who told you that?"

"Jackie! And apparently Donna said Eric wasn't good!"

"Oh my god," I groan, pressing my face into his warm t-shirt. "She's not good at keeping secrets, is she?"

"Well, I'm not any better," he chuckles.

"Oh, shush," I laugh. "Nothing to vent about today?"

"Nah. I was trying to find something to talk about, but honestly, you're just a good cuddler."

"Aw, that's sweet of you. Thanks, Mike."

"Yeah. Do you mind if we just...?"

I smile as he wraps an arm around my waist. "Not at all."

I don't notice that I've fallen asleep until I wake up to my door opening once again. Kelso stirs as I roll myself out of his grip and sit up to face Hyde.

He raises an eyebrow, his eyes flitting between me and the boy on the couch. "What are you guys doing?"

I shrug, trying to stay nonchalant. "Hanging out."

"On your couch?"

"Yeah."

"Sleeping?"

"...Yeah."

He chuckles laconically. "We should hang out more, then."

I attempt to tease him in this uncomfortable situation. "What? Are you jealous?"

"No," he says dryly.

I stare at him, willing him to say something to break the unbearable silence.

Finally, he speaks, "I don't think Kelso needs another girlfriend."

Seriously? Out of all of the things he could have said to make things LESS awkward, that's what he goes for?

I glare at him. "I'm not his girlfriend."

Michael drowsily claws at my waist, mumbling, "Jackie, come back."

"See?"

He watches his friend with disdain. The expression he has on his face is one I've seen before. And not on him.

On my mother.

I try my best to prevent myself from faltering under his withering gaze, but it proves to be harder than I wish.

"Why are you here in the first place?"I mutter.

He looks away, not answering me.

"Can you open your fucking mouth and talk to me, please?" I hiss.

His mouth forms a thin line like drawstrings are being pulled at the corners of his lips before he says something unintelligible under his breath.

"What?"

"I wanted to... to see if you had any beer."

"You're lying."

He sighs angrily. "Fine... I wanted to kiss you."

I frown. "Why?"

He shrugs and averts his sunglass-covered eyes. "I was thinking about you and I decided that I wanted to kiss you."

My heart skips a beat. "You were thinking about me." It comes out as more of a clarifying statement than a question.

He looks back at me, not gawking at my body, but making complete eye contact. "Anastasia-"

I'm almost knocked to the floor when Kelso wakes up with a jump. "Oh, hey, Hyde. I should probably go before Jackie gets mad."

We don't acknowledge him, not even sparing him a glance as he runs outside and slams the door carelessly behind him.

Steven silently and quickly steps toward me, cups my face, and gently presses his lips to mine. It isn't rough or hungry like our kisses typically are. It's sweet, slow, and it drives me crazy. I inhale the familiar scent of pine, weed, and cigarettes. The effects of the smell hit me like a drug.

I attempt to deepen our embrace by wrapping my arms around his neck, but he swiftly catches my hands and pulls away, a teasing smirk playing at his lips.

"Sorry. That's all you're getting."

I scan his face, not for anything in particular, but just because I want to take everything in. The way amusement dances in his still-shaded, icy blue eyes. The way the corners of his eyes crinkle slightly as he grins at me.

For once in my life, I'm speechless. As I sit there with my face inches away from his and my wrists held together by his surprisingly warm hands, I don't have anything to say, no snarky remark for Steven Hyde.

I bite my lip as he straightens his posture, taking his sunglasses off in satisfaction. "I'll see you later, Princess."

Shit, I think as he happily leaves my home, What is this boy doing to me?

I lazily hand Fez a potato chip as he sits next to me in our Circle with his left arm securely on the floor behind me.

"Forman, man," Hyde grins. "I've been thinking about your dilemma, and I've decided that it's still funny."

"Hey, lay off of him, man!" Kelso snaps. "I've got you, Eric."

"Gee, Kelso, why the sudden change of heart? Oh, maybe it's because the 'Apollo rocket of love' blew up on the launchpad?"

"Oh-ho, a mystery!" Fez beams. "One suitable for Scooby-Doo and his gang of cartoon teenagers. Sometimes I wish we were cartoon teenagers."

"Zoinks. That'd be super, Fez," Hyde jokes. "Look, man, if God had meant for virgins to give it up to other virgins, he wouldn't have given us middle-aged hookers. He wouldn't have given us our Princess here."

I glare at him. "Shut it, man whore."

He chuckles knowingly as the other boys stare at us in confusion.

"Fine, Hyde," Eric says, shaking it off, "but now that the middle-aged hooker ship has sailed, what am I supposed to do?"

"Well, I know I got a lot better when I started making it with your sister," Kelso shrugs. "I got it, man! You should make it with my sister!"

"I've seen your sister," Steven snorts. "She's a virgin. And she's going to be one for a long time."

"Fine, make it with Ana!"

"No!" Hyde bursts before covering with, "She's been with too many guys, she probably has a disease or something."

I grit my teeth. "Look who's fucking talking."

"I would make it with you either way," Fez grins.

"Thanks?" I chuckle in confusion, turning to him and immediately getting pushed backward when he smashes his lips onto mine.

I find it hard to pull away with the way that he does it, but I manage to get Hyde to grab my waist and snatch me away.

"Damn, Fez!" Kelso and Eric applaud as I fail to stutter out a response.

Once we move on from that, Hyde changes the subject. "Forman, man, you've got to find out what you're doing wrong, and fix it, fast."

"Try rolling your tongue," I mumble, bringing a hand up to my chapped mouth.

"You know what women call guys who are lame in the sack? 'Just friends.'"

"Hyde and I are just friends," I clarify.

"Burn!" Michael chortles. "You can't let the pressure get to you. Don't think about how embarrassing it would be if you tried and you couldn't. How she'd stare at you with those cruel black eyes. As if to say," he imitates Jackie, "'You're not really a man, Michael! You're not a man at all!'"

"Okay, well, uh, this really helped," Eric says.

"Yes, it was very enjoyable." Fez wiggles his eyebrows at me.

"For future reference," I critique, "do your tongue-rolling thing, but do it gently. The aggressiveness is unneeded."

"Thank you for your input. Would you like to help me practice?"

I toss a pillow at him, laughing. "Oh, get bent!"
