GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! (A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT)

𝔞𝔟𝔟𝔞

I sit in between Hyde's legs on the freezer as Donna tutors Kelso and Jackie. "So, if 'x' equals seven, then 'y' equals..."

"Two?" Jackie guesses.

"Wrong. Kelso?"

"'L'?"

"Also wrong. It's a pretty simple equation, guys. Just think about it for a second."

Michael gapes at the girl in front of him. "You're so pretty. You don't even need to know math."

She grins. "That's so weird! I was just thinking the same thing."

"Steven," Eric mocks, "you're so pretty, you don't need to know nothin'."

He plays along. "That's good, 'cause I'm stupid!"

I giggle quietly as Kelso scoffs. "Yeah, real mature, guys."

Suddenly, Fez bursts in, his clothes tattered and dirty and his hair a mess.

"Fezzie, what happened?" I frown.

"I was walking back from the pep rally, flush with school spirit," he pants, "when some boys from Fort Anderson jumped me, and they slapped me, and they beat me!"

Eric and Hyde start laughing.

"That's not funny! They spray painted me on my ass! I want revenge against those Fort Anderson Snapping Turtles."

"Tell you what, Fez," Steven offers. "We'll get you a can of paint thinner. It has to be done."

"Yeah, and the three of us have to watch," Kelso agrees.

"Fine. But this time, no smoking," Fez grumbles.

Steven holds me tightly by my waist and leaves kisses along my neck and shoulders as the other boys go outside. I tilt my head to the side, exposing more skin, and grip his arms. We've unintentionally been holding off on having sex since we got back together, and I guess that's starting to get to him.

I can't blame him, though. I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the same.

Donna and Jackie somehow don't notice it, but Eric's head pops into the room and he scrunches up his face.

"Ew, man, get off of her!"

Steven groans in annoyance. "Man, I was about to get some!"

"Hyde, come on!"

"Fine."

I climb off of the dryer and peck his lips. "I'll see you later?"

He kisses the tip of my nose. "You know it, Princess."

Donna pulls me over to the couch when he and Eric disappear. "Finally, now we can get to work."

"Michael's so sweet," Jackie gushes, completely changing the topic.

"Uh-oh," I sigh.

"He's just so-"

"No!"

"Do you think that Michael and I-"

"Don't even say it, Jackie," Donna warns.

"I think that maybe-"

"I'll kill myself, I swear to god."

"He and I should get back together."

"Jackie, do you remember how he cheated, and hurt you, and lied to you?"

"Listen to yourself, Donna! Cheat-ed. Hurt-ed. Lie-duh. It's all ancient history. But when we look into each others' eyes, I know we're thinking about the same thing."

"Your hair?"

"No! That we're meant to be together! I need to know that he's really changed. I need to test him somehow."

"I agree."

"You do?"

"If you get back with Kelso, you'd better have him tested."

"Jackie, our point is... be careful," I plead. "I love him, but he's an asshole, and I don't want either of you getting hurt."

"Okay," she nods. "Thanks, girls."

I smile. "Anytime."

"Okay," Jackie says as we do our homework in the Hub. "I have come up with five psychological tests to see if Michael is ready to be in a healthy adult relationship."

"Damn, Jackie," Donna scoffs. "He can't even spell 'psychological'."

"Look, he only has to get three out of five! And the first test is on maturity."

The door slams open and the boy in question bounds over to us. "Oh, man. So, we're trying to get the paint off of Fez's butt, right?"

Donna and I share a glance.

"And so I started to spray lighter fluid on it! And Fez gets all mad, right? And then he started chasing me, but he had his pants around his ankles! So then he tripped and fell, and I think he hurt himself, but I don't know, 'cause I was like... out of there!"

He plops down. "So, what's up with you guys?"

"We were talking about careers," Jackie lies. "I'm going into high-end cosmetics, Anastasia is going into business, and Donna thinks she'll make a fine lumberjack!"

Donna glares at her. "Stop telling everybody that!"

She ignores her. "So, what kind of career are you interested in?"

"Well, I was considering becoming a doctor," he answers.

"Ooh! A doctor? That is so mature!"

"Or a rodeo clown."

Donna snickers under her breath.

"Rodeo clown? You want to be a rodeo clown. Okay. Why?"

"The rodeo clowns are the unsung heroes of the new West! And, you know, I've always enjoyed being inside of barrels."

He leaves to get a snow cone and I pack my books up. "Okay, I'm leaving."

"No, Ana, stay!" Jackie whines.

"Sorry," I shrug. "I'm not going to watch you fuck around with him, even if it's amusing. Remember, the most important thing is whether you love him or not."

I break into a grin when I see Steven sitting alone in the basement, flipping through a comic.

"Hey."

He looks up, tosses the comic to the side, and takes off his glasses, scanning my body. "Damn, Princess."

I laugh, climbing onto his lap and wrapping my arms around his neck. "I'm wearing the same thing I wore this morning."

"And?"

I shake my head fondly and sweetly kiss him. "I thought you were going to hang out with Eric and Fez."

"We decided to do the whole vandalism thing later."

"Ah, how courteous of you."

"I know, I'm fuckin' amazing."

"Yeah, you are."

He reaches up to kiss me again before stopping. "Red threatened to kick my ass earlier. Do you have any idea what that's about?"

"He said if you hurt me he'll crush you."

"Well, don't worry," he murmurs. "I won't do that."

I bite my lip. "Promise?"

He smiles with a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I can't promise."

"Okay."

It's understandable. It's hard to make a promise like that when one stupid thing can break it.

I lean down and hungrily press my lips to his. He gratefully accepts the gesture, gripping my waist and holding me flush against him.

I weave my fingers into his curls and pick at the hem of his Pink Floyd shirt.

"Princess, I think I'm ready," he jokes.

I play along. "Me too. Go easy, okay?"

He smirks as he kisses down my jawline. "I can't promise."

I chuckle and connect our lips again.

"My cot is still in that back room," he breathes.

"Let's go," I hum.

"Hey, guys, what's up?" Michael chimes as he steps into the basement.

Steven works his way down to my collarbone as I answer him.

"Mike, not- not right now, please."

"No, I found this egg and I want to throw it around with Hyde. I promise it'll be a lot of fun."

Steven stops momentarily. "Kelso, man, leave."

He gasps loudly. "How dare you? I'm one of your best friends!"

"Yeah, and I'm trying to get some."

"Well, I'm not leaving!"

"Fine." He stands and manages to lift me up with him.

"Wait, don't go!"

I sigh, looking down at my boyfriend. "Later?"

He sets me down on the couch and crosses his legs as he sits. "Yeah, whatever."

He just barely dodges the egg that's tossed at him by catching it.

"Kelso, what are you doing?" Donna frowns as she pops her head in.

"Oh, just tossing around this egg Jackie gave me to take care of," he replies.

"Don't you think it might break?"

"Yeah, well, we just thought we'd have some fun with it before I throw it at someone."

"You are so going to fail Jackie's test," I shake my head.

"Test? What test?"

"Okay, we aren't supposed to tell you this, but Jackie's testing you to see if you're ready to get back together," Donna admits.

"Oh my god, are you serious?" he mumbles. "Do you think I have a chance?"

"Not a good one! You've already failed two tests and you're about the fail the third."

"The egg is a test of your parentability," I elaborate.

He gapes at us. "So, what you're saying is... if I break that egg then I fail the test and lose Jackie?"

"Yeah."

"Hyde, give me the egg."

Steven sits up. "Okay, catch." He throws it backwards and it splatters all over the wall.

I don't even feel like scolding him for it. That's what would have happened if Donna and I hadn't interjected, anyway.

"Whoops."

I laugh quietly with him and Donna, since I know that these tests aren't going to do much to Jackie and Michael's relationship.

"Can you guys, uh... go now?" I ask, shifting uncomfortably on the couch.

"Why?" Donna frowns, but I tilt my head toward Steven. "Oh," she grins. "Have fun."

"No, no, no!" Michael protests. "Hyde, Eric and Fez want to go vandalize Fort Anderson and they're leaving soon."

My boyfriend's eyes flit between me and Kelso, trying to decide who to go with.

I cross my arms as he stands and walks to the door, but smile when he shoos Donna and Kelso out. "They can tell me all about it later."

He closes the door behind him and gestures to his old room. "So?"

I smirk and take his hand. "Let's go."
