"Hey, Leo?" I ask as I pack up my things after a shift.
"Yeah?"
"I have to quit my job at the FotoHut."
"Oh, that's cool, man. Three's a crowd, you know?"
I chuckle. "Sure. Sorry."
"Ah, it's fine."
"Did you already find a new job?" Steven frowns.
"Yeah," I beam, "and you'll never guess where I'm working."
"Where?"
"Jerry Thunder's radio show!"
He does a double-take. "No way, man, WFPP?"
"Damn right!"
I squeak as he pulls me in for a hug. "That's really exciting."
"I guess," I smile, wrapping my arms around his waist. "Although, it's nothing crazy, I'm only sorting records and shit. But he knows all these rock stars, and he gave me a guitar pick from Foghat!"
"That's still cool, Princess. I'm proud of you."
I shrug nonchalantly. "I didn't really do anything. But I have to go to my first shift, so... I'll see you later."
He nods. "See you."
โ
"And this is where we do the interviews," our boss says as he shows Donna and me the studio. "A lot of rock legends have puked in this room. Good times."
"Wow," Donna gushes. "So, if I stay here long enough, I might get to see a rock star throw up?"
"See it? You'll probably clean it up!"
"Alright!"
From the recording booth, a voice booms, "This is Jerry Thunder. Coming to you on the sound, and it looks like we've got two new office girls. What are your names, ladies?"
Flushed, I lean into the mic, which is on the air. "Um, I'm Anastasia."
"And I'm Donna."
"Oh, well, you two are hot. So I'm going to call you... 'Hot Annie' and 'Hot Donna.'"
I grin and lean back in. "Okay."
"You got yourself a boyfriend, Hot Annie?"
"No."
Our boss beckons Donna over, telling her to say the same, and she joins in. "I don't have one either."
"Ooh, well that's good news, fellas, 'cause these hot ladies are... hot."
We go off the air as music starts blasting through the studio.
"Max, why'd you make me say that? 'Cause I have a boyfriend," Donna frowns.
"Fine, you have a boyfriend," he shrugs. "So does Elton John."
"No way!"
"Yeah! They're a fantastic couple, I love them."
"They're selling an image," I explain. "An available Hot Donna is good for sales."
"See, your friend gets it!" Max beams.
"Oh, well, what the hell?" she smiles. "Eric won't have a problem with this."
"Well," I object, "he might have a problem with it at first because he doesn't understand the business world, but he'll realize that it's not that big of a deal."
"Yeah," she nods. "It'll be fine."
โ
"Hey," I sigh as I step into the basement.
Hyde stands alone by the record player, sorting through some discs. He looks up, "Well, hi there, Hot Annie."
I roll my eyes with a grin and shove him lightly. "Shut up. Is Eric upset over the whole 'Hot Donna' thing?"
"Yeah," he smirks. "You know, I was going to see if Donna would let me make out with her since she's apparently available, but then I realized that you're hotter and actually available."
"I'm flattered," I laugh as he snakes his arms around my waist and pulls me close. "But who says I'm going to make out with you?"
His icy blue eyes bore into mine. "Who says you're not?"
My breath hitches as his nose brushes against mine and my head automatically tilts upward to make it easier to kiss him.
He tucks a piece of hair behind my ear and comes in closer.... closer....
He pulls away with the tiniest smirk on his perfect fucking lips. "But I guess if you don't want to..."
I glare up at him and he chuckles, knowing he's won.
I should have learned my lesson by now. Every time we come back to each other, it just results in more drama and more trouble.
I can't help it, though! He's addicting. I can't get the damn guy out of my head.
"How much longer are you going to stare at me, Princess?"
I snap out of my trance, marching over to the couch. "Oh, shut it."
The rest of the boys shuffle down the stairs.
"Circle!" Eric chants. "I need to rant."
Steven picks some music out. "Well, I'm never opposed to a Circle, so..."
We quickly set up and I light the incense, immediately taking a puff of the joint. "Okay, go."
"Okay. I haven't seen Donna in two days. She's spending all of her time at the radio station."
"I don't blame her!" I gush. "We met Alice Cooper! Like, he signed one of my mixtapes and I got to shake his hand and take a picture and everything!"
"Okay, but I don't see her anymore! She's my girlfriend!"
"Oh, here we go again, Forman's got a problem. Hey, man, did you ever stop to consider that maybe I have a problem?" Hyde complains.
"Oh, man, I'm sorry. Go ahead. Unload."
"Actually, I'm cool. And that's how you do it. You have a problem and you hold it in, man. Now leather up, fruitcake."
"I have a problem..." Fez mumbles. "But I guess I'll keep it all inside."
"Hey, you guys," Kelso says, "so, Leo to sell me the El Camino for, like, five hundred dollars, so what I need from you is five hundred dollars. Ana?"
I giggle. "I don't have money to waste anymore! And what El Camino?"
"Oh, we found one in Leo's garage."
"Bitchin'!"
"Yeah."
"Hey, I'm Hyde!" Eric mocks. "I don't feel anything. I'm just a frizzy-haired robot."
"Hey, I'm Forman!" Hyde mimicks. "I use the same voice to imitate everybody."
Fez sulks in his chair. "It's just that I... I... nothing."
โ
"Kelso, get out!" a voice yells from outside as I take out a tray of chocolate chip cookies.
"God, Hyde, you're so pushy! I'll go. But first-"
I wince as a loud, long honk comes from a car horn.
"Kelso! Out!"
"Alright, good luck with her, man- Ow, my eye!"
I dust off my hands and hang my apron off as the expected doorbell ring comes.
I open the door and put my hands on my hips, raising my eyebrows up at Hyde, who is leaning against the door frame. He straightens his posture slightly, probably not expecting me to answer so quickly.
"Hey," he nods, looking me up and down before his lips curl into a goofy grin. "Nice bandana."
"I'm trying out a new style," I shrug.
"Copying Donna?"
"Hers is blue."
"Ah," he nods.
I peek over his shoulder at a sleek black El Camino. "Showing off your new car?"
He shrugs sheepishly. "A bit."
I raise my eyebrows when he doesn't say anything else. "You came here just to say hi?"
"Do you want to go out somewhere?"
My eyes widen. "Like... out, out?"
He shifts uncomfortably, obviously not having a lot of practice with asking girls out. "Well... out."
I bite my lip. "Sure. Pick me up on Friday at eight?"
He scratches the back of his neck. "I was kind of thinking, we could go out now."
"Now?"
"Well, yeah, that's why I got all dressed up."
I glance at what he's wearing, which is basically his usual outfit. But he's put on his favorite Zeppelin shirt, so it makes sense.
"Okay, but we're not going anywhere fancy, are we? I would need time to prepare for that."
He scoffs. "Did you just ask me, the burnout, if we're going anywhere fancy?"
I smack his arm lightly. "Shush. Give me a second."
I rush over to the counter, grab a small bag, and carefully scoop the cookies in.
He smirks down at me as I jog back. "Couldn't leave without your cookies, Princess?"
"Well, I'm leaving them out. Kelso's going to try to sneak in."
He laughs. "Okay, let's go."
I step out and he guides me to his car with his hand on the small of my back.
"So, is this a date?" I ask as I slide into the passenger's seat.
"No," he says immediately. "We're just going out."
"And the difference is...?"
"The difference is that we're just hanging out."
"And that's why you got all dressed up."
"Yeah. Wait- Aw, damn it."
I giggle quietly and a smile quirks up at his lips.
"Don't be nervous, babe, I'm only teasing."
His ears turn a crimson color.
I admire the interior. "This is a really nice car, Hyde."
"Yeah, I'm pretty glad Leo decided to give it to me."
"So you can pick up chicks?"
"Nah. It makes me hotter, 'cause guys with cars are usually more attractive."
"Which means more girls for you."
"Well, I'm not really interested in anyone other than this one girl."
He glances over at me with a small smirk. It's like a game, this thing between us. Whoever gets the other to blush, wins. Except, at this point, it's more than just a game.
"I wonder who it could be," I quip back.
He starts to pull into a secluded spot in the empty parking lot of the Hub.
"Could you park one spot over?" I request. "Last time I went out like this, it was with James. In that spot."
He frowns. "You're still not over him?"
"Oh." I shake my head. "No, it just smelled like barf last time I was there."
"That was, like, a year ago. The smell is probably gone by now."
"You'd be surprised at how long a barf smell can last."
He parks in a different spot anyway. "Wait here, I'll get you a soda."
"Okay." As he hops out, I follow him.
He chuckles lowly. "Why did you follow me?"
"Because I want to come," I shrug. "Why can't I?"
"Because you're too short. You shouldn't have to experience the humiliation of looking like a hot little gnome next to me. I won't put you through that, doll," he says sarcastically.
"I am not short," I protest as we walk in.
"Oh, you so are."
"Hey, everyone, it's Hot Annie!" a boy calls from a table by the side.
"How do they know it's me?" I hiss. "I've literally only worked there for three days."
A few people rush at me and I sign some mixtapes, some arms, and even a forehead.
Eventually, we make our way to the counter and order ourselves drinks and a large carton of fries.
"Damn, that was annoying," Steven huffs.
"Ah, the price of fame," I joke. "Thanks for not pushing everyone away. My boss would've killed me."
"Why?"
"A single Hot Annie is very marketable."
"Oh, got it."
"Yeah. What do you say we get back to the car?"
"You mean 'to my El Camino?'" he teases.
I roll my eyes playfully. "Yes, to your El Camino."
We get back and climb into the flatbed, sitting down next to each other.
I snatch a fry. "So, what does this date entail?"
He sends me a glare. "It's not a date."
"Right."
"I don't know," he shrugs. "The stars are out tonight and the streetlight above us has been busted for the past three years, so we can kind of see those."
I tilt my head to the sky and smile. "They look really pretty."
"Yeah," he mumbles.
I look back at him. A lot of times, he can be unbelievably clichรฉ. This is one of those times. He was watching me look at the stars, and now he's watching me look at him.
I clear my throat. "Steven, uh..." How do I say this without making it sound like I'm turning him down?
"Say what's on your mind, Princess."
I bite my lip. "Whenever we... get together, we always end up screwing it up."
He chuckles dryly. "Honestly, I don't care."
I frown. "What?"
He changes his position so his body faces mine more openly. "Look, you know I'm not good with words and feelings and all that shit, but I'm just going to say this and give it to you straight, okay?"
I nod slowly. "Okay."
"We both like each other. And I don't just mean that I think you're hot and vice versa."
"Are you saying-"
"Let me talk, doll. I don't... I don't want to ignore that anymore. 'Cause yeah, sure, we're joking with each other and all that, but we never talk about... how we feel about each other."
He pulls at his necklace. "Neither of us are really good at that, I guess. But I think you're really... you know..."
"No, I don't know," I tease.
"You're cute, and understanding, and you're a bit of a manipulative bitch sometimes, but I like that about you. Plus, you're smokin'." He laughs as he dodges a smack. "I just don't want to wait for you to tell me that you like me anymore. If I do, you're eventually going to move on to another James guy who's basically perfect, and I'm going to lose you."
I grin up at him. "Are you saying you have a crush on me, Steven Hyde?"
He shakes his head with a smile and murmurs, "Shut up," before he kisses me sweetly.
I readily kiss back, climbing onto his lap to make it easier to do so.
With the combination of his lips, his warm body pressed against mine under the stars, the carton of fries cast carelessly to the side, Robert Plant crooning in the background to Jimmy Page's killer guitar-playing... I love everything about this moment.
"God, I missed this," I mumble.
He chuckles and rests his forehead on mine. "Good to know."
"I did not mean to say that out loud."
"Oops."
"Are we keeping this a secret again?"
"We'll work it out."
"Sounds good."
"Great. Now kiss me, woman."

FORTY-FIVE. IT TOOK FORTY-FIVE FOR ONE OF THEM TO ADMIT THAT THEY LIKE THE OTHER
I mean I guess Ana kinda revealed it when she was like "bruh i thought i meant something to you" but HE SAID IT EXPLICITLY I'M GETTING EXCITED OVER CHARACTERS IN MY OWN STORY WHOO
Also - All My Love definitely has a chance at being my favorite Zeppelin song and I feel like if this was a movie or some sh then the chorus of it would be so good to play int the background of them kissing shaeyrvnyfviahn AND I KNOW IT WAS RELEASED IN '79 BUT IT'S SO PERFECT AND I NEVER SPECIFIED WHAT SONG WAS PLAYING SO I'M KEEPING IT
I hope this was a good chapter lol
As always, feedback, comments, and votes are appreciated >:)
Love you guys,
Lissy
