CHAPTER THREE
grease - start of school
[a/n, the extra scenes at the lunch are actually deleted scenes from the movie! also, i'm using sentences instead of the songs to make it less cheesy haha]
"Rydell High School," Roxy chewed on her bottom lip, looking up at the school through her sunglasses. Sandy smoothed down her yellow poodle skirt whereas Roxy opted for a deep purple colored pencil skirt and a lilac colored sweater with a wide belt around her waist. It was too hot for her leather jacket, so she just didn't bring one.
She leaned on her- her pop's- car, her school books in hand and the other hand up to her lips, taking a drag of her cigarette before she dropped it and stepped on it.
"Okay, I'm ready," Sandy smiled at her sister.
Usually, Roxy would've rolled her eyes and said, "Finally." But, in light of their recent reconciliation, Roxy nodded and said, "Alright."
They started walking until a redhead came up to them, staring right at them with a wide smile.
"Can we help you?" Roxy asked, a bit weirded out by the girl's eagerness.
"Are you two the Olsson sisters?" The girl asked, her Southern Italian accent thick.
"Yea, what'd ya want?" Roxy looked at the girl. Sandy grimaced at her sister's harshness.
"I'm Frenchy!" The redhead giggled. It then clicked for Roxy.
"Oh yea," Roxy nodded a bit. She turned to Sandy. "Ma did say that there would be a girl here to show us around."
"Oh! Well, nice to meet you Frenchy," Sandy shook the girl's hand.
"Likewise!" Frenchy grinned. "You too Roxanne."
"Please, call me Roxy," Roxy shook her hand as well.
"Roxy," Frenchy nodded and let go of her hand. She adjusted her books near her chest and sighed. "Well, we better get goin'!"
The trio walked through the grass, towards the front doors.
"So this is the front of the school, we have a fountain and a statue. It ain't much, but it's a nice way to enter the school," Frenchy rambled on. Roxy nodded absentmindedly, wondering if she should ask if Frenchy knew Putzie. She decided against it. If Putzie did go here, she'd run into him sooner or later.
Sandy looked around at all of the other kids walking into the school and suddenly became insecure about her fashion choices.
"Do I look okay, Frenchy?" Sandy asked. Looking down at her skirt, Sandy pulled a face.
"Sure, you look good," Frenchy nodded, grinning ear to ear.
"I'm really nervous, you know," Sandy said.
"Don't worry, there should be some squares that you would get along fine with," Roxy said. Sandy just smiled. They may be reconciled, but that doesn't stop Roxy from quipping every now and then.
"You look terrific," Frenchy reassured Sandy.
"So this is Rydell?" Sandy asked, looking up at the big building.
"It's a lot bigger than what a school should be," Roxy commented. The last school they were at was more spread out, but they never had many tall buildings.
"There's a lot of people," Sandy looked around at the students. Roxy looked around as well, noticing a blonde with pigtails who was balancing a book on top of her head. Roxy reached over and smacked the book down, laughing at the girl's face when she turned and pushed her friend.
"Yep, you'll love it," Frenchy said to Sandy, trying to ignore what just happened with Roxy.
"I loved the last school I was at. I wish I was there right now. Still, I'm no stranger to heartbreak." Sandy sighed as the pair came to a stop. Roxy stopped when she bumped into Sandy.
"Why, you got psoriasis?" Frenchy asked, giggling.
"Hey! She got my joke!" Roxy laughed. Frenchy grinned at her and Roxy hugged her as if they were best friends. Sandy looked away, not believing what just happened.
The trio walked into the school. Roxy looked around and it seemed like any other American high school. Frenchy took a quick glance before pointing down the hall.
"Over there is the front office, you sound find your papers there." Frenchy got out her schedule and looked it over. "And here is lunch; it's at 12:30. I'll come find you after second."
"Second?" Sandy asked.
"Second period," French nodded. "You'll see on your schedule. Alright, I'm off! See ya!"
"See you, French," Roxy waved and started walking down the hallway, popping a piece of gum onto her mouth.
"Bye, Frenchy!" Sandy said as she followed her sister. Students filled the hallways and it was hard for the sisters to navigate between the mini brawls and kids sliding down the stair railings, flying across the hall.
As they walked in, a disgruntled teacher walked out as a short, auto-mechanic said, "He's been here longer than I have."
"It's the first day of school and already my castor oil is missing," a nurse clocked in harshly, turning away abruptly, brushing past Roxy. The sisters walked up to the front desk. Sandy stood with perfect posture as Roxy leaned over the counter, propping her head up with her fist on her cheek.
"How many days 'til Christmas vacation?" The auto-mechanic teacher asked politely at a staff.
"86," Sandy sighed.
"86?" The teacher asked, appalled. The sisters nodded as Roxy blew a bubble.
"She's counting," Roxy said, amused.
"Oh," the teacher groaned, turning to walk away. The principal came over, pushing her way into the office.
"May I help you, dear?" She asked Sandy, even though Roxy was closer.
"Oh, yes, this is our first day of school," Sandy pointed at herself and Roxy. "We're not really sure where we're supposed to be."
"Oh, well, welcome to Rydell," the principal grabbed some papers on the coutner to give to the girls. "You'll have to fill out a few of these forms, but-" she stopped, seeing a fight happening outside of the office. "Will you excuse me for a minute? I'll be right back."
Roxy watched her go, fiddling with her forms. Sandy looked around for a pencil, but couldn't find one. A woman with curly orange hair walked by Roxy, entering the office.
"Oh, excuse me, do you have a pencil, please?" Sandy asked politely.
"Oh, yes, dear. There you are," the woman smiled, backing up to give the small pencil behind her ear to Sandy. Sandy looked at the minuscule pencil with apprehension. Roxy laughed.
"If this school is anythin' like this mornin', we're in for a real big treat," Roxy said, turning away, not bothering to fill out any forms. She looked in the cubby by the far wall, labeled 'Schedules' and started to look through it. She grabbed the two 'Olsson' schedules and left one for Sandy and kept the other one with her name on it. Roxy walked out and looked at her homeroom classroom.
A couple of loud boys were walking down the hallway and making ruckus. Roxy walked the other way, not in the mood to walk through the group.
She sighed. This day was going to be long.
-
Roxy grabbed a bread roll and some red jello from the cafeteria line and headed outside. Frenchy was supposed to meet her after her second period, but she never showed.
Roxy saw a couple of girls brush by her, singing their own very loud rendition of La Bamba. Roxy watched them go with a sense of anger. Why couldn't she just be friends with someone here so that she wouldn't feel like a loner?
Just then, Frenchy and Sandy walked by her and Frenchy grabbed Roxy's sweater sleeve and pulled her along. "Come on! Sorry I didn't find you, Sandy got locked in the ladies' room."
"How did you manage that?" Roxy raised her brows at her sister.
"I don't know!" Sandy laughed. They walked with Frenchy who was walking up to the same group that Roxy watched earlier.
"Hey, you guys!" Frenchy greeted them excitedly. She turned to Roxy and Sandy. "Go sit down."
"Hi, Frenchy," one of them smiled up at her, looking at the two sisters as well.
"Hi, French," the one with short, dark, curly hair said, not looking up.
"This here is Sandy and Roxy Olsson," Frenchy said as the two took a seat. Roxy immediately bit into her bread roll, devouring it in a second.
"And tha-that's Jan and Marty," Frenchy nodded at the two next to Sandy and across from Roxy. "And this here's Rizzo."
Roxy nodded at each of them and returned to eating. "They just moved here from Sydney, Australia," Frenchy said. Roxy coughed a bit.
"I actually stayed in Queensland," she said. "I went to a boarding school."
"Hmm, how are things down-under?" Rizzo asked.
"Hot, humid, frizzy," Roxy groaned. Rizzo chuckled, but Sandy just fixed her skirt.
"Fine, thanks," she said. Frenchy switched topics as Rizzo stretched, a smirk on her face.
"Hey, Marty, are those new glasses?" French asked her.
"Oh, yeah, just got them for school," Marty smiled. She positioned them higher on her face. "Don't you think they make me look smarter?"
"Nah, ya can still see ya face," Rizzo teased, stretching back further. Marty grumbled and picked up a bowl of rice pudding.
"How would you like rice pudding down your bra?" Marty taunted, ready to throw. Rizzo just sneered at her.
"I'll take it!" Jan said, grabbing the bowl out of Marty's hand.
"Would you like my coleslaw?" Sandy asked Jan.
"Does the pope wear a dress?" Rizzo snickered as Jan took it eagerly.
"Oh shove it," Frenchy giggled.
"Don't eat it, your neck'll turn pink!" Rizzo laughed, taking out her compact mirror to powder her nose.
"It does smell a bit funny," Sandy said, worried.
"Oh, just wait until you eat the chicken filet," Frenchy said. "Better known as 'barf-on-a-burger'."
"Oh, don't mind her, Sandy, some of us have a halitosis of a vocabulary," Marty said, feeling smart. Roxy had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing.
"Oh, at least I have a vocabulary," Frenchy retorted, laughing at Marty's mishap.
"Oh come on, Frenchy," Marty grumbled.
"Come on, Frenchy," Frenchy mimicked. Soon, they were yelling at each other, standing up to a face off.
"Hey!" Rizzo yelled, catching everyone's attention. Even Roxy had stopped eating her jello. "Save it."
"How do you like school so far, Sandy?" Jan asked, eating the coleslaw.
"It's different," Sandy remarked.
"Yeah? What about you, Roxy?" Jan asked.
"School's school, y'know?" Roxy said, pushing her tray away when she was done eating.
"Hi kids!" A loud voice greeting them all. The girls groaned, causing Roxy to perk up with confusion.
"Patty Simcox, the bad seed at Rydell High- hi!" Rizzo looked up at a girl who, in Roxy's opinion, was smiling too much.
"Oh, I just love the first day of school, don't you?" Patty practically shouted in Rizzo's ear.
"It's the biggest thrill of my life," Rizzo said sarcastically.
"Oh, you'll never guess what's happened," Patty said.
"Probably not," Rizzo looked at her girls.
"They just announced the nominees for Student Council and guess who's up for Vice President?" Patty's voice grew louder with every word.
"Who?" Rizzo played her game.
"Me!" Patty shouted, clutching to her books tighter. "Isn't the most?" She laughed obnoxiously. "To say the least?"
"The very least," Rizzo said, bored as she returned to eating.
"I just hope I don't make too poor showing," Patty swayed on her feet.
"Well, we certainly wish you the best of luck, don't we girls?" Rizzo looked at her girl gang. Everyone except Roxy and Sandy stood up to take Patty's card or to wish her luck sarcastically. Rizzo ripped up Patty's card, but she didn't seem to notice.
"Yeah, sure, I've got my fingers crossed," Roxy sneered as she looked at her empty jello cup.
"Oh you must think that I'm a terrible clod for not introducing myself to your friend," Patty said, ignoring Roxy altogether. She started to sit down as Frenchy grabbed an apple core for Patty to sit on. "Hi, I'm Patty Simcox. Welcome to Rydell- ah!"
Patty giggled sheepishly at the girls, turning back to Sandy. Roxy took her fork and threw it at Patty. She glared at Roxy as Sandy just shook her head, smiling a bit at her sister's immaturity.
"... we'll have so much fun and get to be life-long friends!" Patty grinned at Sandy as she took out cheerleading information.
"Anyone with a vote is her life-long friend," Jan sneered, out of the Olsson sister's earshot.
"Let me see you schedule," Patty ordered Sandy. Roxy was too busy blowing bubbles with her gum to even notice anything.
"You guys, how do you like Sandy, huh?" Frenchy turned to the Pink Ladies to talk lowly. "You think we could let her in the Pink Ladies?"
They all watched as Sandy conversed with Patty.
"She looks too pure to be Pink," Rizzo said.
"Well what about Roxy?" Frenchy asked. Everyone shifted their focus to Roxy who was busy filing her nails into an oval shape.
"I think we got one more jacket," Rizzo smirked. "We got a Pink on our hands, girls."
"Oh, double doo-doo!" Marty shrieked.
"Please!" Rizzo rolled her eyes.
"What's up, doc?" Jan asked. Roxy leaned closer to take a better look at what Marty was doing.
"One of my diamonds just fell in the macaroni!" Marty searched through her lunch to find the gem.
Jan reached over to grab a fork, presumably to help find it, but Marty just shrieked, "Don't eat it!"
"Well, I gotta go to the ladies'," Rizzo grabbed her clutch and walked away. Jan settled into her chair and Roxy leaned over the table, helping Marty.
"Is that it?" Roxy pointed at something in the macaroni.
"Oh, yeah, there it is, there it is," Frenchy nodded.
"That's not it," Marty whined.
"That's it!" Frenchy said loudly, pointing at it harshly. "Here it is."
"Oh, there it is," Marty muttered softly, grabbing the fork Jan had to fish it out. Once it was out, Marty cleaned it on a napkin.
"So, Roxy, what did you do this summer?" Jan asked, eating a roll off of Rizzo's plate.
"I was at bargain city most of the summer... I met an asshole there," Roxy said, remembering Kenickie.
"Hey, isn't that where Kenickie worked?" Frenchy whispered to Marty to make sure that Roxy couldn't hear. Marty just shrugged and continue to eat her macaroni.
"What kind of asshole?" Frenchy pressed.
"Oh, you know, the kind that kisses then leaves," Roxy shrugged. Marty nodded.
"I know what you mean," she said.
"What did you do over the summer, Marty?" Jan asked the brunette as she made her way to the other side of the table, near Sandy.
"I was goin' steady with this one guy, Ricky, and I invited him over one night, thinkin' the 'rents were outta town, and it was perfect, right?" Marty dove into her story as Rizzo came back. "So just as things were getting really interesting, my mother walks in."
Marty scoffed and shook her head at her own story. "Needles to say, I was grounded for two weeks."
They all laughed a bit, except Sandy and Patty. Frenchy turned to the shyer Olsson sister and grinned. "So what'd you do this summer, Sandy?"
"Oh, I spent most of it at the beach. I met a boy there," Sandy raised her brows at her own statement.
"Hold your cookies all the way to the beach for some guy?" Rizzo asked, unamused as she picked at her nails.
"Well he was sort of special," Sandy reasoned. Rizzo just laughed half-heartedly.
"There ain't no such thing." Sandy looked at her for a second before turning to Patty.
"He was really romantic," Sandy smiled. Roxy rolled her eyes. This Danny boy was boring from what she heard from Sandy.
"It all happened so fast, he was as cute as can be," Sandy sighed. Everyone but Roxy and Rizzo leaned towards her. Roxy has heard this story a thousand times now. Roxy and Rizzo shared a glance.
"Ohh, tell me more," Frenchy and the girls pressed.
"Does he have a car?" Marty asked.
"He was a real splasher at the beach, got my suit damp!" Sandy laughed, ignoring the question.
"That's the point of the suit," Roxy rolled her eyes playfully. She got up and sat where Marty was and Rizzo followed, sitting on her right, closer to Jan.
"Was it love at first sight?" Frenchy asked.
"We drank pop and lemonade, staying out late on strolls," Sandy smiled at Patty who was following her to the cafeteria to pick up some milk.
When they came back, they sat on Roxy and Rizzo's bench, causing Rizzo to put her sunglasses on and push them off with her foot, making them crash into the trash can. Roxy snickered a bit, but stopped when Sandy glared at her.
"He sounds like a drag," Rizzo said.
"He was very friendly as he held my hand, he just turned 18," Sandy boasted, grinning as more girls came to listen.
"How much dough did he spend?" Jan asked, holding up a banana. Sandy just looked at it weird.
"Well, school came quickly, so we said our goodbyes," Sandy said sadly. "We said that we loved each other one last time."
"Aw, that's too bad," Frenchy said, frowning.
"Oh, but those summer nights," Sandy smiled to herself.
"Alright," Roxy hopped off her bench. "That was as thrilling as the other two hundred times you've told it."
"Let's go," Rizzo called for the girls as the group started walking out of the lunch area and to their next classes.
"He sounds real nice," Jan said.
"True love and he didn't even lay a hand on you?" Rizzo snickered. "Sounds like a creep to me."
"But he wasn't," Sandy pouted. "He was a gentleman."
"Hey, uh, what was his name?" Frenchy asked Sandy as Roxy threw her trash in the trashcan and threw the tray aside.
"Danny," Sandy said. The girls all nodded. "Danny Zuko."
That's when the mood shifted. Marty and Jan started giggling behind Roxy and Rizzo's small smile fell. She turned around and hit them with her clutch. Frenchy just looked at Sandy with worry.
"Well," Rizzo said. "I think he sounds peachy keen, n', well, maybe if you believe in miracles, Prince Charming will show up again someday, somewhere unexpected."
Rizzo gave her a sarcastic smile. "See ya later. C'mon girls."
Jan and Marty snickered a bit as they followed. "You too, Roxy!" Rizzo called for her. Sandy looked at her sister.
"You'll be okay?" Roxy asked. Sandy nodded. "Okay."
Roxy left with Rizzo, walking with her.
"I wanna talk to you 'bout somethin', Roxy," Rizzo said, avoiding eye-contact with her. She watched at Jan and Marty went off to their lockers.
"What about?" Roxy asked, stepping in line with the brunette. Rizzo stopped suddenly, scoping out the area. Roxy stopped too, looking at Rizzo.
"What was the guy's name you went with over the summer?" Rizzo asked, her sunglasses-clad eyes staring right at her. Roxy involuntarily gulped. If they all knew who Sandy's beau was, who's to say that they didn't know Kenickie?
"I-I didn't catch his name," Roxy said, trying to sound as convincing as possible.
"Are you sure?" Rizzo asked, almost innocently, but Roxy knew more to her than that.
"Mikey, maybe? I think I heard him say Robert too?" Roxy shrugged, looking off into the distance to seem nonchalant.
"Well," Rizzo looked at Marty and Jan who were walking back from their lockers. "I have somethin' for ya."
"What?" Roxy turned to look at Marty and Jan who held something pink in their hands.
"See, we got a group," Rizzo sighed. "Well, more like a gang. We're the Pink Ladies. Our pledge to the color is to act cool, look cool and to be cool."
"Pink Ladies?" Roxy asked, but Rizzo kept talking as she grabbed the jacket from Marty's arms.
"Well, Roxy," Rizzo slid the jacket over the blonde's shoulders. "'Til death do us part, think Pink. Think you can do that?"
"How do I... think Pink?" Roxy asked, looking at the jacket over her shoulders.
"Easy," Rizzo smiled. "You already do."
Roxy looked at her jacket again, feeling the fabric in between her fingers.
"What'd ya say, Olsson?" Rizzo asked. "Think you can be one of us?"
"Yeah, one of us?" Jan mimicked, joining Rizzo's side.
"Pink is your color," Marty commented, ruffling her hair with her fingers.
"Yeah, I can," Roxy nodded, a smirk etching her way onto her face. "I can be Pink."
"That's the spirit!" Rizzo cackled. "By the way, there's a sleepover tonight. Be there." She linked her arms with Roxy's and together, they walked into the school.
-
"Thanks for letting Sandy and I hitch a ride," Roxy thanked Rizzo as she filed her nails down.
"Oh, yeah, no problem," Rizzo nodded. Frenchy was filing Rizzo's nails for her. "A sister's sister is my friend."
Roxy chuckled a bit, knowing that Rizzo wasn't really fond of Sandy. They were at the bonfire that was supposed to be a pep rally for the football team, but Roxy didn't know how Rydell was supposed to win after seven seasons of defeat.
"Do a split! Give a yell! Show a little spirit for ol' Rydell! Way to go, red and white! Go Rydell, fight, fight, fight!" The cheerleaders all did a cartwheel, but Sandy fell flat on her ass. Frenchy shimmied to mimic the cheerleaders dancing.
A fanfare played, but Roxy just tuned it out. The coach went up to give a speech, blah blah blah. Roxy pulled her new Pink Ladies jacket closer to her chest, keeping herself warm. After the speech, the cheerleaders ran around the bonfire before dispersing.
Rizzo leaned down to whisper something into Frenchy's ear and she nodded.
"Sandy!" Frenchy waved her over. Roxy tried not to laugh as her sister in a cheerleader getup walked over to them.
"Hey, uh, Riz," Roxy said to the brunette. "What was that about?"
"I just got a little surprise for Sandy," Rizzo said. That made Roxy uneasy.
"What typa surprise?" Roxy asked.
"Reuniting her with her summer flame," Rizzo snickered.
"Danny goes here?" Roxy whispered to Rizzo. She only nodded, telling Roxy to keep it hush-hush.
As they walked over to Sandy. A couple came up behind her and a girl lifted her skirt over her head.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Sandy shrieked. Frenchy and Roxy ran over. Frenchy waved them away as Roxy just pushed the girl away harshly.
"Oh, thanks Roxy, Frenchy," Sandy smiled.
"That's alright," Frenchy nodded and Roxy just gave her a nod, walking back over to Rizzo. As Frenchy and Sandy conversed, Roxy, Rizzo and the girls walked over.
"Your split was divoon," Frenchy nodded.
"Hi, Sandy," Rizzo nodded at the girl.
"Oh, hi, Rizz. Hi girls," Sandy said hello to the rest of the gang.
"We got a surprise for you," Rizzo took Sandy and the group over to the other side of the track.
"Surprise? What is it?" Sandy asked, eyeing Roxy's new Pink Ladies jacket. Roxy only shook her head, telling her it wasn't that.
"You'll see, right Riz?" Jan laughed.
"Lemme comb your hair down a little bit," Frenchy said, taking out her comb. Roxy walked with her sister, not knowing how this would turn out.
"Where are we going?" Sandy laughed.
"A little lipstick..." Frenchy dabbed it onto Sandy's lips.
"Alright, alright, that's enough," Roxy laughed, unable to contain her uneasiness. "She's gonna look like my grandma at her brother's funeral if we keep it up."
The girls smiled as they made their way over to a beat-up white car with five guys leaning on it.
"Aye, Zuko!" Rizzo called out for the boy, but Sandy didn't hear. "I got a surprise for ya."
"Oh yea?" Danny walked forward a bit, expecting a sexual act from Rizzo. But Rizzo just laughed, knowing that already.
"Yea," She snickered. Sandy was holding on to Roxy's hand as Jan pushed Sandy forward, making Roxy stumble forward as well.
Roxy didn't see Danny, or the other two gang members or even Putzie, the boy she's been looking for since this morning. No, the only boy she saw was Kenickie. And Kenickie saw her.
"What're- what're doing here? I thought you went back to Australia?" Danny asked, gaining Kenickie's attention. His eyes looked over at Roxy, as if he was asking her the exact same question. Eventually, Kenickie broke eye contact and stepped up to Danny, looking at him like he's lost his mind.
"That's cool, baby," Danny laughed, his whole demeanor changing suddenly. "I mean you, know how it is, rockin' n' rollin' n' whatnot."
Roxy's face morphed into one of disgust. Was this guy for real? In her mind, the guy that Sandy wouldn't shut up about was a lot better than this jerk.
"Danny?" Sandy asked. Roxy looked at Kenickie and found him staring right at her, giving her a prideful smirk. She bit the inside of her lip to keep herself from attacking him right there.
"That's my name, don't wear it out," Danny laughed. Roxy looked at Rizzo whose face was a mixture of disgust and unsurprise. The rest of the girls were taken aback, Marty had her cigarette poised but she didn't seem that interested in it anymore. Jan had one in her hand too, ready to take another hit but with her shocked face, she couldn't seem to get her mind around another smoke.
"What's the matter with you?" Sandy asked.
"What's the matter with me, baby? What's the matter with you?" Danny asked. Roxy was so close to telling him off, but Sandy spoke faster.
"What happened to the Danny Zuko I met at the beach?" Sandy asked.
"Well I do not know. I mean, maybe uh, maybe there's two of us, right?" Danny snickered and the boys started laughing. Even Putzie. Roxy shook her head at him and he cowered away, behind Kenickie.
Roxy didn't even want to listen to the banter anymore. Everything Danny was saying was making her blood boil.
"You're a fake and a phony and I wish I'd never laid eyes on you!" Sandy threw her cheerleader pom-poms on the ground at Danny's feet. The boys shook it off as if she burned them. Roxy was so angry that she was about to cry.
"Sandy!" Roxy called out for her sister. She turned around and chased after her.
"Roxy!" She heard Putzie call her name, but she didn't turn around. Kenickie looked at Putzie.
"You know her?" He asked. Putzie shrugged a bit.
"Only a little?" Putzie said. Kenickie only chuckled a bit and called after Danny, telling him to get in the car. As he started the engine, he couldn't help but think about the look in Roxy's eyes. How her light dimmed a little and how sadness seeped through her after every word that came out of Danny's mouth.
He suddenly wanted to punch Danny for making her feel that way. But he could never bring himself to do that. He'd be a hypocrite and his gang would never respect him again. As he drove down the road with Danny in the passenger and Sonny, Doody and Putzie in the back drinking beers, he willed himself not to think about Roxy anymore. In fact, he thought it better to think about someone else. Maybe even bang someone else to get her off his mind.
Back at the bonfire after Kenickie and the rest of the boys left, Rizzo, Jan and Marty were waiting by the car while Frenchy and Roxy were comforting Sandy.
"He was so nice to me this summer," Sandy sniffed as she leaned against the car buy the
"Hey, men are rats," Frenchy said. Roxy nodded along.
"Worse than that, they're fleas on rats," Roxy said, rubbing her sister's back.
"Worse than that!" Frenchy laughed. "They're a amoebas on fleas on rats!"
Sandy nodded, sniffing a bit at Roxy dabbed a tissue to the corner of Sandy's eye, wiping the mascara off.
"They're too low for even the dogs to bite," Frenchy said. "The only man a girl can depend on is her daddy."
"Sandy," Roxy jumped in. "Riz invited me to the sleepover at Frenchy's. Would you like to come?"
"Yeah!" Frenchy laughed. "It'll be fun, and hey, it'll get your mind off of Danny."
"Okay," Sandy nodded, smiling a bit.
"Okay," Roxy grabbed her hand, leading her to the Pink Ladies car.
