The first thing you would notice about Conrad is his quietness and tendency to stay to himself. He's one of those people you wouldn't really notice until someone says that he's in the room. Conrad doesn't speak much, and only when he's told that he can. Coming from a heavily religious household, he was taught that it's 'sinful' or 'disrespectful' to speak out of turn, so in part he just stayed silent – like he was told to.

When (if) you manage to get past the wall he's built for himself, you would notice a wave of sadness that's around Conrad. Truthfully, he's a very...depressing person to be around? Not really, it's mostly his aura that stands out.

Though he doesn't seem like the type, Conrad is unexpectedly extraordinarily empathetic. He doesn't express it much, he actually cares a lot more than he lets on. This comes from (once again) the way he was raised – to be empathetic and generous to all. And to not bite the hand that feeds you.

Conrad loves validation. And not the occasional compliment here and there, we're talking about full on...worshiping? If that makes sense. Growing up, Conrad always tried his hardest to do what he was told – to be a good boy son. Just to seek some sort of validation, in a sense that couples with his self esteem.

He really is fragile, in a literal and metaphoric sense. Enduring all he did through his childhood, you would think he'd be thick-skinned. Right? Wrong. Conrad is anything but thick-skinned, and there have been many times where he broke down because of something someone said about him.

Conrad is a really narrow-minded person. And, it's not really his fault. His views come from his background, and how his family views things. While he may seem like a 'conformist' he's just simply trying to be a good son by upholding the values passed onto him by his parents.

Now, another important thing to note about Conrad is how double-faced he is. There's two 'personas' to him. Kou & Dorbin (yes...he named him he's a little weirdo). Kou is his more reserved side (though all of him is already reserved), the side where he just wants to be left alone and hates everyone and everything. The only time Kou comes out is when he's feeling doubtful, or when he's in one of his moods.

Now, Dorbin is more of his...social side? Not really. Dorbin only comes out on days where he feels a bit more courage to speak, even if it's muttering a simple 'thank you' when someone holds the door for him.

Conrad is a very innovative and bright person – he actually aspires to be an author in the near future. There's constantly new ideas going through his head, kind of...bonkers?

Finally, he's also a very observant person. More of a listener than he is a talker. Now, this has its advantages and disadvantages. Mainly, people wouldn't expect Conrad to say anything so they just talk about random stuff around him – not knowing he's listening to everything. Do NOT gossip around this man, he'll take a mental note of it, brother has a memory of an elephant for real.

Overall, Conrad is...a character, for sure. And it takes a lot to get him to open up to you. You'll be lucky if you get two words out of this man.

BACKSTORY ⭑

Unironically, Conrad Kouki was born on June 19th – a day after (not the same year obviously) Yareli Williams was announced dead. From then on, Conrad was viewed as The Rotten Apple of the Kouki family. What a disgrace, right? It was obvious, from the way Conrad was treated to the things his family said about him to his face. He was not welcomed, he was a disgrace, how could God 'bless' them with a son like this?

His parents tried everything. Even going as far to get Conrad baptized when he was just two years old. When that didn't work, they simply just decided to incorporate their values into him until it worked. They couldn't have a son known as The Rotten Apple, having a son born the day after the death of Yareli Williams? It was as if God was punishing them, somehow – in some way.

For the majority of Conrad's life, he was an outsider in his own family. He tried everything to be a good son. He didn't smoke, do drugs, or even hang out with the wrong crowd. No matter what he did, his efforts fell upon deaf ears. Nobody cared about his efforts.

That's when the nightmares began.

Conrad feared sleeping, every night after he said his nightly prayer – he did everything to keep himself from falling asleep. His nightmares were horrifying, as if they would someday be real. Every night after he forced himself to close his eyes, he would see himself facing God, and being rejected into the gates of heaven.

It started to get worse.

On top of all the nightmares, Conrad began to wake up in random places when he woke up. He would be in his bed, and then the next minute he'd end up on his front porch. Was someone moving him? Or was he moving himself?

The day his parents found out about this behavior, they had reached their breaking point. And that day, Conrad had somehow found himself on the roof after a night of sleeping. A couple of firefighters had to show up and help Conrad get down. The Kouki family was now in the spotlight, and not in a good way.

Enough was enough.

That very day, Conrad was asked forced by his parents to pack his things. And on that day, Conrad left everything he knew – the life he knew, the people he knew behind.

Conrad was dropped off at his uncle's house, and that's where he's been ever since. Admittedly, he's more 'better' than he was when he was living with his parents. And the nightmares aren't as current as they were before.

FAMILY ; DYNAMICS ★

ROHAN KOUKI ( biological father ), Conrad and his father aren't that close. There were rare moments of them bonding, but that's probably it. Simply thinking about his father makes Conrad repulse with disgust.

ZOE KOUKI ( biological mother ), Conrad's relationship with his mother is nothing short of a living hell. He tries hard to live up to her expectations, even with her not even being around in his life that often – she still has his claws in him. And...it affects him till this day.

JACKMAN KOUKI ( uncle/father figure figure ), Jackman Kouki, the typical fun-loving uncle. Or, at least he's supposed to be. Conrad and his uncle's relationship is a bit complicated, considering they're both polar opposites. Jackman tries to give a space as to where Conrad can freely communicate his feelings. But Conrad finds it hard to believe his actions are genuine.
