Chp: 13 "Navigating My Jitters and Jealousy"
Jakes
I took a deep breath and stepped into the gym. I was still seething from the argument with James, but I knew I needed to clear my head and get some exercise. Maybe if I ran a few laps and lifted some weights, I could work out some of my frustration.
As I made my way to the locker room, I noticed a few of my classmates staring at me. I tried to ignore them, but could feel their judgemental eyes on me, . I wondered if they had heard about my fight with James, and if they were taking sides.
I changed into my gym clothes and headed out to the track started running, pushing myself harder and harder, until I was gasping for breath. I didn't wanted to think about James, or what had happened between us , just wanted to focus on the rhythm of my feet hitting the pavement, the wind in the hair, the sweat on my skin.
After a while, I slowed down to a walk and wiped my forehead with a towel. I looked around and saw that the gym was starting to fill up with more students. I felt a pang of anxiety. What if James was here? What if he tried to start something again?
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. I knew I couldn't let James get the best of him. I had to be the bigger person, and rise above the drama. I decided to keep my head down and focus on my workout, no matter what anyone else said or did.
With that in mind, I headed over to the weight room, ready to lift some heavy metal and forget about my troubles for a while.
Other persons pov
As Jake was lifting weights, he heard the door to the gym creak open. He glanced over and saw a girl he didn't recognize walking in. She had long brown hair, bright blue eyes, and a friendly smile on her face. She was wearing a pink tank top and black leggings, and she looked like she was ready to work out.
Jake couldn't help but feel a little curious about her. He wondered who she was, and why she was here. He hadn't seen her around school before, but he had to admit, he was intrigued.
As the girl walked past him, she caught his eye and gave him a nod. "Hey there," she said. "Mind if I work in with you?"
Jake was taken aback. He wasn't used to people approaching him in the gym, especially not girls. He hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Sure," he said. "I'm Jake."
The girl smiled. "I'm Isabella," she said. "Nice to meet you."
Jake felt a jolt of electricity run through him as he shook her hand. He couldn't explain it, but there was something about her that made him feel different . He tried to focus on his workout, but he couldn't help stealing glances at her as she lifted weights beside him.
As they worked out together, Isabella and Jake talked about their favorite exercises, their goals for fitness, and their interests outside of school. Jake found himself opening up to her in a way he hadn't with anyone else but only Sarah. He felt like he could be himself around her, just like he feels around Sarah and he liked that feeling.
By the time their workout was over, Jake felt like he had made a new friend. He was excited to see where this new connection would take him, and he was grateful for the distraction from his problems with James.
They exchanged numbers after their workout and both followed each other's Instagram profiles. They even posted a picture on Instagram of their post-workout smoothies together.
Jake felt a pang of guilt as he saw Sarahs expression. He knew that he hadn't done anything wrong, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he had betrayed her. He had been just been friends with her , and he didn't want to do anything to hurt her.
He walked over to her and tried to explain. "Hey, Sarah," he said. "I know it might look like something's going on between me and Isabella , but she's just a new friend. I'm not trying to replace you or anything."
Sarah looked at him skeptically. "A new friend, huh?" she said. "It looked like you were pretty chummy with her in there."
Jake sighed. He could tell that Sarah was jealous, but he didn't know how to make her feel better. But he was also feeling extremely happy inside thinking that she was jealous that means she feel's something for him.
He didn't know how to convince her.
Just then, Isabella walked over. "Hey, guys," she said. "What's up?"
Jake introduced her to Sarah, but he could tell that Sarah wasn't impressed. She muttered a quick hello and then walked out of the gym without another word.
Jake felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he watched her go. He didn't know how to fix things between them, but he knew that he had to try. He decided to give her some space for sometime , and then reach out to her and see if they could talk things out.
Isabella asked, "Is she your girlfriend?"
Jake hesitated for a moment before responding, "No, she's not my girlfriend, but..." He trailed off, not sure what to say next.
Feeling overwhelmed, Jake decided to leave the gym without saying anything else. He needed some time to think about what had just happened and figure out how to talk to Sarah about his feelings.
As he walked out of the gym, he felt a sense of relief. He knew that he needed to be honest with Sarah about his friendship with Isabella , but he didn't know how to do it without hurting her. For now, he decided to take some time to himself and figure out what he wanted to say.
Jake saw that Sarah had liked the post-workout photo he had posted with Isabella on Instagram, and had even commented that they looked good together. He wasn't sure how to feel about it. On the one hand, he was glad that Sarah seemed to be okay with his friendship with Isa. On the other hand, he was worried that she might still be upset with him.
He decided to text her and see how she was feeling. "Hey, Sarah," he wrote. "I saw that you liked the photo that we posted. I hope you're not still upset with me."
After a few minutes, Uzma responded.
"No, I'm not upset,I just wish you both a happy life ahead she wrote."
"What?? she's just a friend".He chuckles while texting. He was kinda feeling happy inside to this side of her.
There was no reply so he texted again.
Hey, I'm sorry, I want to make it up to you. How about we go out tonight? My treat." he wrote back.
He decided to make it up to her by planning a fun activity that they could do together, just the two of them.
Sarah responded almost immediately. "That sounds great," she wrote. "I'd love to."
Jake smiled. He felt like things were finally starting to get back to normal between them. He couldn't wait to see Sarah and catch up on everything that had been going on in her life.
Jake was so focused on texting Sarah that he didn't see James walking towards him. Suddenly, he bumped into him, causing both of them to stumble.
"Whoa, watch where you're going, man!" James said, sounding annoyed.
"Sorry, my bad," Jake apologized. "I was texting and not paying attention."
James rolled his eyes. "You millennials and your phones," he said, shaking his head.
"What is wrong with you James"
James shrugged. "Whatever," he said, walking away.
Jake watched him go, feeling a little hurt by James's comment after all he is his twin.He knew that he had made a mistake, but he didn't appreciate being judged for it. He decided to put it out of his mind and focus on his plans with Sarah for the evening.
Jake decided to smoke before heading home to clear his head after the last lecture. He pulled his car out of the parking lot and found a quiet corner where he could smoke and be alone with his thoughts. He rolled down his windows and lit a cigarette, feeling the cool breeze on his face.
As he smoked, he thought about everything that had happened that day. It had been a lot to take in, and he was still processing everything. He knew that he needed to take some time to himself to figure out how he felt about everything.
Finally, he finished his cigarette and threw it out the window. He took a deep breath and started his car, feeling a little better than he had before. He knew that he still had a lot to think about, but he was ready to face it head-on.
Jake reached home and threw his bag on the couch. He decided to go for a run to clear his head after the last lecture. As he ran, he thought about everything that had happened that day. It had been a lot to take in, and he was still trying to process everything. However, he was looking forward to seeing Sarah later that night. She always had a way of making him feel better.
As he continued to run, he felt his stress levels decrease. He was able to think more clearly and sort out his thoughts. He knew that he still had a lot to figure out, but he was feeling more optimistic about everything.
Finally, he arrived back at his house, feeling tired but also refreshed. He took a shower and got ready to see Sarah. He knew that she would be able to help him make sense of everything that had happened that day.
Sarahs pov
I was feeling nervous and confused about my feelings towards Jake. I was unsure why I felt jealous seeing Jake with his new friend and why I agreed to even go out with him.
I'm ot usually this way and now I'm feeling nervous to face him. So here i am sitting and thinking about what to wear and where Jake will take me.
As I rummages through my closet, I can't help but wonder what Jake thinks of me. Does he like me?
"Astagfirullah what I'm I even getting my self into"
May be he is just looking for a friend? I've never been good at reading people, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. I decided to wear a simple dress and some comfortable shoes. And paired with a nice matching hijab .It's better to be comfortable than to be in pain all night.
I already told my parents I'm going to a friends house. So there's nothing to worry.
As I waits for Jake to arrive, I tried to calm my nerves. I reminded myself that I'm a strong and independent woman who doesn't need a man to validate her worth. I takes a deep breath and waits for Jake to arrive, ready to face whatever comes her way.
I feel a bit anxious about meeting him here, so I decide to call him up and ask for the location. Jake agrees to send me the location, but he sounds a bit upset that I'm not letting him come and pick me up. I try to reassure him that I'll be fine, but he insists and sends me the location. As I make my way to the spot, I feel a mix of emotions. I'm excited to see him, but I'm also feeling a bit frustrated that he's being so overprotective.
As I park my car, I take a moment to look around. The area is calm and peaceful, but I can't shake off the feeling of nervousness. I step out of the car and just as I do, Jake appears and greets me warmly. I can't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. He seems genuinely happy to see me.
" I have a surprise for you" He says excitingly and takes me to the Calgary tower.
The view from the top was breathtaking, and I feel awestruck. I could see the entire city from up here.
As I stand there taking in the magnificent view, I could feel my heart racing with excitement. The city of Calgary stretches out before me, a sprawling metropolis of steel and glass, a symbol of human ingenuity and progress. I could see the skyscrapers reaching up to the sky, the bustling streets filled with people going about their daily lives, and the mountains in the distance, their peaks shrouded in mist. It's a sight that takes my breath away.
I turned to Jake and see that he's still beaming with excitement. I can tell that he's proud of himself for bringing me here. I start to feel my own excitement building as well.
"Thank you," I say, turning to him. "This is amazing."
He smiles at me, his eyes twinkling with joy. "I'm glad you like it," he says. "I wanted to do something special for you."
I couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth spread through my body. I don't know why I had the feeling that no matter what happens, he'll always be there for me.
After enjoying the breathtaking view, we decided to head to one of the popular dining spots in Calgary called The Coup. As we walked towards the restaurant, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside us.
"I've had heard so much about this place and couldn't wait to try the food" he says.
The restaurant was located in a quaint little street in downtown Calgary. We could see the warm glow of the lights from the windows, and we could hear the soft murmur of people talking inside. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly staff who showed us to our table.
The restaurant was decorated in a cozy and rustic style, with wooden tables and chairs, and soft lighting. We ordered the vegan mac and cheese and the seitan burger, both of which were delicious. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, and the seitan burger was juicy and full of flavor.
As we ate, we talked about everything , from our hopes and dreams to our fears and insecurities. We laughed and joked, enjoying each other's company. It was a night to remember.
After dinner, we decided to take a walk around the city. We strolled through the streets of downtown Calgary, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. We saw the neon lights of the shops and restaurants, the bustling crowds of people going about their business, and the towering skyscrapers that loomed over us.
As we walked, he attempted to hold my hands, feeling the warmth of his touch. I didn't reciprocated the gesture and let it go . He took the que and did not say a thing.
As we stood there, looking out at the city,
Jake blurted
"I knew that this was just the beginning we have so much more to explore, so much more to experience."
"Yeah,But for now, we were content to stand here and taking in the beauty of the world around us." I replied.
As the sun has been set, we decided to end our walk and head home. We both knew that we had to get some rest before the start of a new day. Even though we had our own cars, he walked me to mine.
As we approached my car, I noticed that he opened the door for me. I was taken aback by his gesture, but it made me feel special. He wished me a good night and reminded me that he would see me at school the next day.
As I drove off, I couldn't help but think about the warmth of his hand when he tried to hold mine earlier. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but I knew I had to talk to him about it.
The thought of expressing my personal boundaries made me nervous, but I knew it was crucial for our friendship. I felt grateful for having such a caring friend who respected me, and I was excited to see what the future held for us.
As I drove home, I suddenly felt the car engine sputter and die. I tried to start the car again, but it wouldn't budge. Panic set in as I realized that I was stranded on a deserted road with no one around. i attempted to call Ibrahim, but he didn't answer. Then, I even tried calling Jake, but he didn't pick up either. i was starting to feel hopeless, wondering how I was going to get home.
As I stepped out of the car, I saw two headlights in the distance. I waved my arms, hoping the driver would see me, but the car drove past me without stopping. Two more cars drove by, but neither stopped to help. I started to worry that I would be stuck there all night.
Just as I was about to give up hope, I saw a car pull up behind my vehicle. I watched as Jake's friend stepped out of the car, and I felt a wave of relief wash over you.
"Hey, Sarah right, what happened whats wrong with the car"
"I don't know I Guess the battery went down"
He quickly gets to work, trying to diagnose the problem.
After a few attempts, he was able to get my car running again. I thanked him profusely, grateful for his help. I couldn't believe how lucky I am that Neil happened to be in the right place at the right time.
"I will never forget your kindness ill always be there for you if you ever need my help I owe you " I says genuinely being thankful .
"Uh, no biggie, ok so I may go , be safe" he says while going back to his car
