Sulking, I walked out of the office. I knew I shouldn't let my emotions show while walking passed the waiting room, but I just couldn't control myself. Hundred thousand naira, gone! Just like that!
God, Baby will kill me.
It was like I could still hear the lady's words ringing in my ears. The words she had the audacity to say during my interview.
"You've got charistma and a great result. But what we need right now isn't just charistma and a great result." She had said to me.
"I'm ready to risk my life in this job," That was a huge lie. I knew once we ever face danger, I'd be the first to run. But she didn't have to know that. All she had to say was 'you're hired', but instead...
"You're too boyish," She had popped my bubble with her pointed words. "The Idol you're meant to be protecting is way bigger. You look like a seventeen to eighteen young boy and not a twenty-two years old young man. I know it's nature, but we need someone bigger. Stronger. We can't hire you."
Like the hell? It wasn't my fault that a big baby was in need of baby sitting. I just couldn't go on with the talk of having skills was way better than having muscles cause the lady had already dismissed me.
I walked out of the company's building to see Baby flirting with a light skinny girl. The girl seemed to have already fallen for his charm and I shook my head in pity.
"Hey, Baby!" I hollered, my voice deep and manly. Baby looked forward. Upon seeing me, he gestured I come closer. He did the call you sign to the light skinny girl as I got to him and she waved goodbye.
"Yo yo, my nigga!" Baby aimed at my shoulders, giving me bro punches that hurt as hell. I couldn't tell him to stop cause to others around, it looked convincing. It looked like two best bros interacting. I guess.
"Abeg make we comot from here," I hissed, morphing to my original voice tone. Though, it wasn't too loud to attract the others.
"Watin happen?" Baby asked, same time he mounted his bike. I stretched my right leg and also got on his bike, securing myself by placing my hands around his slim waist. "Was the interview hard?"
I knew the last question was genuine since he switched to English. That was Baby for you. Nonetheless, I said nothing. Keeping mutes was the best way to control my rants. Kasala! Baby and how to get him back his full money was my number one problem.

We finally got home and saw Christy sitting close to the outside well. The way many in the compound decided to use this moment to come outside. Witches and wizards.
"Bounce," Baby whispered to me. Like I cared. I had no job, so why on earth should I try my best in keeping my identity a secret.
Left foot, right foot.
Left foot, right foot.
Left foot, right foot.
I kept bouncing alongside Baby while grasping whatever was in-between my leg. This was weird, so weird.
"Baby!" Chirped Christy once she spotted me. "And Baby's friend, let's go in."
Christy and Baby kept leading the way like I was some stranger. The people at the compound kept staring at me like I was a television while whispering among themselves. Gossips!
I got into the house and the first thing I did was to remove the boy wig, bushy brows and sideburns. My legs were also free from the tight high boots and I could freely wiggle my toes again. Arrgh, love that feelings.
"How'd it go?" Christy asked excitedly as I pulled off my weave-on cap, to let my hair fall down my shoulder blades.
Baby shrugged his shoulders then sat on the carpeted floor. "Your friend wey dey keep mute. My own be say make she pass o. Forty kay plus no be beans."
"Are you okay?" Christy asked, getting up from the bed, to close the room door.
I shook my head then lay in bed. "Headache is catching me in my stomach."
Once the door was closed, away from those amebos, Christy got to the bed and sat. "You didn't pass, did you?"
"Didn't have enough muscle," I said, while doing the quote sign with my fingers.
"Are they mad?!" Christy snapped. "Why didn't you give them a long ass lecture about skills surpassing muscles?!"
"Someone that had already dismissed me." I hissed. "Her eyes alone was pushing me out of her office. I might be the right size for a twenty-two years old lady, but for a guy, I look eighteen."
Christy laid in bed with me, looking at the ceiling. "So na so hundred kay comot from our hand like that.
Christy and I sighed loudly and I placed my hand on my belly. Sapa, nice attack. "A-hem!"
"Calm down, I go find your money for you!" I snapped at Baby. "I'm thinking of hundred kay that just left my hand, you are talking about fourty kay."
"But Cherry, look on the bright side-"
"What bright side is there?" I turned to Christy and glared at her. "What stupid bright side?" She sighed, and I turned back to facing the ceiling. "What are you even talking?"
"I'll pay him his money full by tomorrow," Christy said, cheering me up. "You can pay back when you've got cash in hand."
"Really?" I wanted to be sure atleast.
"Really," Responded Christy. "What are friends for? You won't blame Baby. He doesn't have yet, took from his account."
I nodded, I knew Christy didn't have either. I was quite sure the money she was talking about was from the work she'd do tomorrow.
"Come on, cheer up!" Christy placed her hand on my shoulder and began to wiggle me. "If you don't, I won't take you to the brand opening of that new club."
"Wait," Baby stretched his hands. "The one with the swimming pool."
"Bingo!" Christy did a gun shape with her finger, then winked at Baby. "By the way, you're also coming. No one is ordering more than two-five o. If you like order more than that, police room fine these days."
"Two thousand five hundred each?" I scrunched my face at her. "Will you even see two kay things there?"
"Ask her if she'll even see ten thousand naira thing there," Baby hissed, getting up.
"See these parasites o," Christy gestured to Baby and I then gave a very loud hiss which made Baby to move towards me.
"Snake," I insulted, getting up to move to my luggage so I'd look for something decent to put on.
"What are you doing?" Christy said and I stopped on my track. "Go to my bag and take that black silky gown."
Christy invested most of her money on hairs, shoes, bags and cloths. According to her, that was every girl's greatest investment. So moving to her bag, I didn't complain cause she was the one with good stuff.
I might actually see my future rich man today.

Christy, Baby and I, finally got to the new club. It was the club's grand opening. All important figures were said to be here. Baby was definitely right, no ten kay stuff in this club. Christy's and I aim was to find a really wealthy guy to foot our bill. Baby's aim was to court any girl he sees.
We matched into the club, passing the hefty men at the entrance once they checked our ID. The inside was lit and the dance floor was filled with energetic Nigerians. Even from where I stood, I could tell that the second floor looked packed.
"We can't see better people here o!" Christy yelled, trying to beat the ear deafening music booming from the speakers. "Either we go to the second floor or we go out the back!"
"Back, back!" Baby suggested, equally yelling. "Wanna see those ladies rocking their bikinis."
I scrunched my nose at Baby, but didn't object. We got outside as the cool night breeze went through the silky black gown. Perfect gown for the perfect night.
Christy, Baby and I, kept heading forward to look for a reserved spot but Baby was fully invested on the girls showcasing their God-given bodies while swimming in the large pool.
"Baby, watch out!" Christy and I warned at the same time, but it was too late. Aproko Baby, had already collided with the bodies at the front, sending whatever the lady was holding at the moment, into the pool.
"Oh my God!" The lady snapped, while her partner held her in place. Both bodies finally turned, leaving the three of us speechless.
Christy most especially, opened and closed her mouth like a fish out of water upon seeing him up close. I only shook my head after I had regained myself.
"Apologies," I muttered, forcing Henry to move his gaze towards me. His gaze seemed fixed and I tried not to return it. "My friend was just excited. Whenever he's excited over something, he usually turn blind."
Baby glared at me but I ignored it. "Your apologies won't bring those candidates' applications. They're gone and gone for good!"
I knew her, she was the same lady that interviewed me. My aim was to not see my past. She was my past. The reason I lost a hundred kay.
"I told you..." I sighed, but I couldn't finish my sentence cause of a certain homosapien.
"Are you following me?" What is wrong with this one? It would have been best for Henry to shut up, but he had to open his mouth. "Why am I always seeing you?"
"You know her?" The lady asked Henry.
"An Obsessed fan," He chose to say.
I wasn't in a good mood and he just made it worst.
"Excuse you, but I'm not your fan!" I yelled while Christy tried to pinch me to keep quiet. "Abeg lemme," I yelled at Christy then turned to Henry. "For your information, I was and will never be your fan. Heartthrob my ass. My friend over here is more handsome than you bazillion times and he's ugly!"
People got close with their phones in their hands. "Cherry-"
"I'll slap you," I turned to Christy with a warning, then focused back on Henry. "How low are you to think that I was following you? Those were coincidence, heard of such word? Don't think you're above every other person in this place."
The lady whom interviewed me today, stepped forward. "Do you know whom you're talking to?"
"Definitely not God," I simply said. "So he shouldn't see himself as one."
"I never saw myself as one," Henry spoke after keeping quiet for too long. What got me boiling was how composed and chill he was with the whole situation. "I also try my best not to flaunt around with other people's property."
Whispers came from the spectators, followed by laughter. My eyes waver as I tried my best not to look down. Something shocking moved inside of me as I got Henry still staring. Many kept laughing in the background but it seemed like it didn't affect him. "Can you stop staring at me like that."
"Cherry!" Christy scolded. Baby pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me and I could see Henry's eye expression change for a tiny bit. Too bad I was too embarrassed and angry to figure it out.
"I'm sorry, Henry. My friend Cherry has a familiar face. You must have mistaken her for someone else." Christ said, ignoring the fact that I admitted I saw him and called it a coincidence. "She's upset over something and I'm sorry you turned out to be a victim of her aggression. She's not always this ru-"
"Rude?" The lady beside Henry, snarled. The more she used her mouth the more I began to dislike her. "Keep your friend in check."
"I will," Christy nodded her head simultaneously. Then moved closer to Henry. "By the way, I'm your biggest fan. I'm sorry again about my friend's rude words towards you."
"It's alright," Henry finally said, pulling his eyes off of me as he moved it to Christy's. "I've got better things than to hold grudges with a stranger."
A stranger you could recognize you asshole!
"Have fun with the party," Henry said to no one in particular as he turned with the lady beside him.
"Thank you, Thank you!" Christy yelled after them. Baby finally let go of me and Christy leaned in to whisper, "Let's get out of here."
Once we were finally out of the club, Christy glared furiously at me. "What was that all about?!"
We were meters away from the club's building, closer to the lot.
"Stop yelling at me jare!" I fired back while Baby moved few steps away. He wasn't ready to get caught up in our web.
"Don't you know who he is to me? I like him a lot and you know that. I finally met him and you just had to ruin it with your badluck!" Christy kept flying words around. "You met him twice. I wasn't there to ruin it, you did! Why ruin mine?!"
"With my badluck?" Whatever rant she was making was in her pocket. My ears grasped one thing and one thing only. "Badluck?"
"Aren't you one?" My jaw dropped.
"Um Christy...." Baby trailed from where he stood. "That's going too far."
Christy ignored him and kept talking. "Have you had any achievement of your own? If it isn't failure upon failure. I bring food to the table, I clothe and shelter you. Yet, you can't speak to me with respect."
"Is it my fault you've never followed your age?" I clapped back, feeling my eyes stink and my throat ache. Yet, I didn't let it show on my face. "Either you date men old enough to be your grandfather or you like men younger than yourself. Your friends are even one and two years younger and you talk about respect?"
"Um Cherry," Baby spoke with his earlier tone. "There's nothing wrong with tha-"
"Just shut up!" I snapped at Baby, then turned to Christy. "Na talk dey bring talk na, thank you."
My aim was to get home but not to sleep. I needed to get my stuff and head back to the village. If city doesn't work, go back to your root. My biggest mistake was my degree. Best in the department, my ass. There was nothing to show for it.
I mounted a bike that took me home. I was glad neither Christy nor Baby arrived home before me. Getting to the room, I pulled the gown Christy lend to me and threw it at God knows where before packing my stuff and placing it in my luggage. Locking my box, the door to the room opened and Christy plus Baby, walked in.
"Where are you going?" Baby asked in a confused manner while staring at my luggage.
"I hate insults," I replied instead. Dragging my luggage with all my strength, I head for the door.
"It's late na," Baby tried to stop me. "You guys are like sisters. Na family issue be this o. You guys should try and resolve this."
I scoffed, finally getting to the door. I knew I was rude earlier but Christy shouldn't have taking sides with Henry and called me a failure and a badluck. She didn't have to remind me of my lack of success. My whole existence was more than enough reminder.
"Sisters my ass," My eyes moved from Baby to Christy. "Until she comes in contact with the saying; sisters over misters, we'll forever be strangers!"
Slam!

I had fun writing this chapter but I'm not evil. I'm sure no one saw the fight coming and thought Cherry would pass the interview.
(Don't mind me, sometimes I'll refer to Hope as Cherry or as her actual name, Hope, on the author's note. Depending on mood)
What do you think about Cherry and Christy's fight? Who do you think is at wrong and went too far?
Now Cherry is going back to the village (crying in bucket) what would happen to Cherry and Christy's friendship?
Find out during the next update.
Also, don't forget to....
