My heart kept pounding for some unknown reason and the only thing serving as a distraction was the champaign I kept sipping from the wine glass. It helped at some point, but only at some point. I won't say anything happened between Hope and I but the feeling whenever he was around was... "This is weird."
"Of course it is," Jackson said, concentrating on his phone. "Baby just sent an audio of him rapping on whatsapp and he's pretty damn good. How can a rapper called Baby be this good?"
I rolled my eyes. "I was talking about Hope and the feeling I told you about."
Jackson gave me a small glance. "Oh dude, that's completely normal." No it wasn't, but Jackson seemed more invested in Baby's rapping skills. I only let out a groan and leaned back on the couch. Maybe I was only over thinking things.
The show in TV started to gain my attention but that was short lived when Hope walked down the stairs in a white short sleeve that drape over his left shoulder, showing off perfectly smooth shoulder blade and Jean short that stopped barely above his knees. It didn't occur to me that I was staring, until his eyes met mine and he placed his hand at the back of his neck to rub it awkwardly.
"Sorry sir, but I wanted to get a bottle of water." He said in that deep voice of his that always sounded forced. Unlike his previous room, this new one didn't have a mini fridge. Jackson must have thought the little conversation I was having with Hope was far more interesting than his phone, as his eyes darted from mine to Hope.
"Alright," I responded, which gave Hope enough strength to move to the kitchen. Seeing Hope move to the kitchen, I began to wonder if letting Hope stay here was a good idea.
"Why are you touching your heart?" Jackson asked within laughs. I wasn't, but that doesn't mean my heart wasn't pounding.
"Does he remind you of someone?" I asked instead.
"No..." Jackson dragged, but his face said otherwise. "Is he supposed to?" He brought his wine glass close to his mouth to have a drink.
"Cherry," Jackson choked on his drink, coughing several times to clear it off his throat.
"What?" He gasped, but it wasn't loud.
"Cherry, Hope." I furrowed my brows at his sudden reaction. "They both have distinct features."
Jackson gave a slight shrug and all of a sudden, the center rug felt more interesting to him than our conversation. "Might be related."
I let it go and just focused on the TV. I guess I only felt this way for Hope because he reminded me of Cherry. That definitely explained things.

The next day, Jackson decided to accompany me to the new set. Once I arrived, Dorcas saw me almost immediately. We made eye contact but since she was talking to the director about things unknown to me, she couldn't come over.
"Whenever I see your sister, I'm always reminded of why your taste in girls are high." Jackson mumbled, as he eyed Dorcas. She was putting on a free top which she had tucked in a full length tight jean, which showed the endowed shape she got from mother. Yes, I came from a family with great looks and great body proportion. That seemed to be an achievement thanks to my parents genes.
"Can you please stop looking at my sister in such manner?" I snapped a bit. "First Olamide and now Dorcas."
"Come on," Jackson placed his hands on my shoulders. "I've always got eye on both sisters. But since Ola is married which is a bummer by the way, I've got to look at just Dorcas. It's a shame you both are related, cause she's more beautiful than all those girls. You could digged her."
"You're disgusting," I pulled away from him and began moving forward while my bodyguard trailed behind me. Jackson was no longer with me as I moved to rehearse my scene. He had walked over to Dorcas.
Jackson biggest crush was Olamide, a crush doomed to get crushed. Olamide was my immediate elder sister, whom was two years older than I was. She was melanin dark and very beautiful. Jackson threw all the pickup lines he knew on her even though she was a year older, but she had eyes for DJ Rockshot, a popular DJ in Nigeria and world wide. Together, they became a thing and got married early this year. Jackson thought my twenty-five years old sister was still single and ready to mingle till I announced she was getting married to a fiance he knew quite well. Jackson grieved for five minutes and went back to his normal life. All in all, I knew he never really liked any of my sisters that way and only just appreciated their beauty and flirted for fun.
Dorcas was no different. My twenty-seven single sister whom isn't ready to settle down, was his new target. Dorcas really liked Jackson, but as a little brother. Something she had said a thousand times. So we all knew those flirting would lead to nowhere.
I sat on the white chair provided as my eyes moved to Yemi, filming her part. I let out a sigh and flipped through the pages of my script. My eyes scanned through the words I'd already known by heart, till I was aware of Hope standing behind me.
"You can have a seat," I said to Hope, still digesting each words written on my script. Hope had never rejected any of my offer because he was aware of its benefits. Well he did try to reject one which involved living with me. I couldn't understand why, the benefit was plenty.
Hope didn't think twice while taking the seat beside me. I noticed as his eyes moved to my script at every chance he got. Curiosity must have gotten the best of him as he pointed at the word I had written at the top. "Why'd you label this important?"
He was referring to the scene I was currently reading. "Cause it's important,"Β I responded dryly.
"Yeah, but why?" I couldn't work like this. Now I was guessing him standing would have been a better option.
"Because the scene needs to be executed well for the cliff to be perfect."
"What's a cliff?" I stared ahead, letting out deep breath through my mouth. He was acting like a ten years old girl, curious about the world. Instead of answering, I opened to the next scene and moved it to his face. His curious eyes skimmed each words between the lines, till his mouth fell apart. "Oh, a kissing scene."
Once those words fell out of his mouth, he became a bit flustered and stared at the other side. "S-sorry, carry on."
I found his reaction a bit cute, as a smile tug up the corner of my lips. "It's a kissing scene, why are you so flustered? Haven't you been kissed before?"
My words seemed to have offended Hope as he snapped his head at my direction. "I'm twenty-two, of course I've been kissed!"
I scoffed at his reaction and went back to reading my lines. Soon the director called and I was sitting on an office chair facing Yemi.
"You haven't been to a club before?" Once again, I became my character, feeling stunned at Ore's revelation.
Ore which was played by Yemi, buried her head on her office desk with a loud groan. "I know, it's embarrassing."
"It sure is," I wasn't letting it pass her as her head was still on her desk. My lips formed a soft smile, a smile that always seemed to appear after Ore and I clicked in-between our many disagreements. I promptly stood up and stretched my right hand. "I'm gonna change that."
"What are you doing?" She lifted her head and saw my outstretched hand.
"I'm about taking you to a club." I responded defiantly.
Ore shook her head. "No, no, Buchi." She kept shaking her head. "What am I gonna do in a club?"
"What are they doing in clubs?" Her question struck me as skeptical. "Come on Ore, we only live once. Don't regret this golden opportunity."
Ore stared at my hand, debating whether to take it or not. Finally she did. "Don't let me regret this."
I smiled cheekishly, helping her up. "Of course you won't."
Ore began to gather her stuff so we could leave her office together. "Cut!"
I could breathe again. "That's so natural!" Complemented the director.
I stopped being my character and moved over to the refreshment table to grab a bottle water.
"Can't wait for tomorrow's scene," Yemi spoke behind me. Thanks to the water, I didn't respond. "It's been long since we've shared a kiss, I'm nervous."
I placed the bottle cap on before returning the bottle back to its rightful place. I didn't think twice as I turned to move away from Yemi. But Yemi being Yemi, followed. "How about we rehearse at my place tonight, to perfect the scene I mean."
"I can't, I'm busy withβ"
"Of course he will," I almost felt like face palming myself when I heard that voice. Dorcas strode over with Jackson beside her. "Henry would be at your place tonight."
I looked at Jackson to help out. "Dorcas, I'm going out with Jackson tonight. We've got plans."
By this time, my bodyguard had moved to my side. "Jackson just informed me he'd written a song for this movie and he's gonna work with someone tonight"
"Baby?" My bodyguard said behind me and Jackson nodded. "Yes!"Β My bodyguard exclaimed, his voice going naturally thin. "I-I mean Yes."
I just rolled my eyes and ignored him. Great, I'd be spending the night with Yemi. Best day ever.
