(act two, chapter eleven: by the light of the moon)
βββ ββ ββ β ββ
"Now that you've got this back, what are you gonna do with it?" Elena asked her best friend as she, Buffy and Bonnie sat together in Buffy's bedroom. The Gilbert girl was holding on to the moonstone closely.
"Right now, it's what is binding the Sun and the Moon Curse. If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone, the stone becomes useless." Bonnie replied as she stopped going through her grimmoire, that laid open on Buffy's bed for research, so that she could look up at Elena.
"And according to Katherine, Klaus becomes vengeful." Elena said to her as she stepped closer to Bonnie.
"Maybe. If he finds out." Bonnie replied, shrugging with her shoulders.
"Bonnie, can't this wait? Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine. We've got to get him out." Elena said, trying to get Bonnie to see that Stefan was more important than the moonstone.
"Stefan wants me to focus on this." Bonnie.
"Don't listen to him. He thinks that he's protecting me, but he's wrong."
"I'm taking Stefan's side with this one. We're not gonna let you get used in some creepy sacrifice ritual. " Bonnie said, while Buffy took the stone back out of Elena's hand to get a better look at it, even thought it was just a stone.
"What are you guys arguing about?" Jeremy asked, standing in the door opening from Buffy's room, seeing all three of the girls together.
"We're not arguing about anything." Bonnie said, shrugging as she took the stone back from Buffy so that she could put it back into her own bag. "I need a coffee." Bonnie got up and left, passing by Elena as Jeremy looked at his older sister.
"What?" Elena asked, seeing him look at her as she sat down on her bed now that Bonnie had left, while Buffy looked at Bonnie's bag.
"Why are you on some suicide mission?" Jeremy asked her.
"I'm trying to prevent everyone else from getting hurt." Elena replied.
"So, bringing Klaus the moonstone so you can get yourself killed is okay?" He asked after letting out a scoff and going back to his own room.
"Lena, I don't think giving yourself and the stone over to Klaus is a good idea. Like seriously don't do it. Don't even think about doing it. We'll think about something. Something that will get Stefan out of the tomb and something so we can save you. We always figure something out. We just need a little time." Buffy spoke, picking up her own bag from her desk.
"Okay." Elena nodded.
Buffy gave Elena a small smile as she left her room, quickly making her way down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Bonnie asked, a tea cup in her hands as she walked over to the front door, standing in front of the front door.
"The Grill."
Bonnie gave her a look, not believing her.
"I'm hurt that you don't believe me, Bon Bon. But I am telling the truth. It's the first Saturday of the month. Which normally means that I'm going shopping with Caroline. And I really want this blue sweater I saw a few days ago." Buffy started, a hand over her heart to show her best friend that she was offended that she didn't believe her directly.
"But since Tyler turned into a werewolf and Caroline is going to help him, she cancelled, which basically means that for the first time in a long time, I have nothing to do and when Alaric figured that out, he offered for us to do some father - daughter bonding over breakfast." Buffy finished and Bonnie moved, knowing that Buffy was telling the truth about meeting her father at the Grill.
"Bonnie, I know we need to find a way to get out of this mess with Klaus and Elijah and all that, but don't overwork yourself either, okay? I know what happened that day Rose kidnapped me and Lena." This time it was Buffy giving Bonnie a look. But a worried one. "So, if I see you to much as just looking in that Grimmoire, I will personally take it away from you and throw it out of the door."
βββ ββ ββ β ββ
"So the name thing, how did that happen?" Alaric asked, taking a sip of his water. He especially ordered a water and not a Bourbon since he didn't want his daughter to think he was some kind of alcoholic since she basically always saw him with alcohol in the Grill.
He wanted her to have the best impression of him after all that had happened. He was really going to tΒ try to make up for all that lost time he should've been there for her.
"Because when I was twelve I was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I still am, but I used to rewatch and rewatch that show every time I could. So mom once called me that as a joke, but it just sticked, you know? And then everyone started calling me that. I love it tho."
"I think it fits." Alaric spoke.
"You think so?" Buffy asked him.
"Yeah, when your mom told me you used to watch Buffy as a lifeline I watched a few episodes. It fits."
"Thanks." Buffy spoke, giving Alaric a small smile before she took a sip of her hot chocolate. She secretly found it awesome that he watched it because her mom had told him she did.
"Here you go." Matt spoke, placing a plate with pancakes in front of Buffy and a plate with waffles in front of Alaric.
"Thanks, Matty." Buffy thanked him, getting a smile from the Donovan in return.
"Enjoy." Matt spoke. He always gave Buffy, who ordered pancakes a lot when she came in on a Saturday, one or two more than they usually did.
"Pancakes. Another lifeline of mine." Buffy spoke.
"Really?"
"Yeah. I got that from mom tho. She loves pancakes too." Buffy said. She wants the only one who ordered pancakes on a weekend morning.
"Not waffels?" Alaric question nodding towards his own board.
"Well, yes, but, pancakes come first." Buffy replied with a small smile.
"Nah, I'll get you convinced that waffles are better." Alaric spoke.
"Mhm. Good lock with that. I've preferred pancakes for seventeen years on a row now. Seriously good luck trying to change my opinion on that." Buffy responded.
βββ ββ ββ β ββ
"I can't believe they locked you up in the house." Buffy spoke to Elena as she laid on her sister's bed, throwing a tennis ball up and down. Had the girl ever played tennis?Β
No.
Did she have a tennis ball?
Of course.
"I can't believe that you spoke to your dad without seeking a fight." Elena replied with a sigh.
"Hey!" Buffy spoke, sitting up. "We were talking about your day. And I don't always seek fights with him. At least not anymore."
"Yeah, okay." Elena nodded, but both of the sisters their heads turned to Elena's door, when they heard the front door open.
"Is my mom already back?" Buffy wondered aloud.
"I guess so." Elena spoke as they both stood up and started making their way downstairs.
"She's played hostess to someone who recently came to town. A writer. Maybe we get to meet him. I hope he is hot."
"Yeah, and probably double your age." Elena joked.
"Says the girl who is dating someone who is what, nine times her age?" Buffy whispered, in case her mother would overhear their conversation.
"Well, he looks seventeen." Elena whispered back.
"True." Buffy admitted.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Elena asked Jenna as soon as they saw her sitting on the ground, boxes all around her.
Jenna pushed a box into Elena's arms.
"What is this stuff?" Elena asked, looking inside the box to only find books and files.
"Something from before our time, I suppose." Buffy replied, seeing the dust covering one of the books.
"Your mom's files from the Historical Society. I got roped into helping Mrs. Lockwood and by roped, I mean very excited to participate." Her mom spoke, loudly, standing up, and closing the door of the closet behind her.
Both of the girls let out a gasp when they saw the man that had been blocked by the door that was now closed. Elena almost let the box drop to the floor if it wasn't for Buffy pushing it back into her arm.
"What's up with you two?" Jenna asked, seeing their surprised faces.
"Nothing. Just hadn't excepted someone to stand there." Buffy nervously spoke, looking Elijah shortly in the eyes before looking away again to share a look with her sister.
Elijah, however, had had a smile on his face since he heard her whispering when coming off the stairs. An even wider smile appeared on his face when she stood in front of him, not looking away from her as he stepped closer to her and Elena, but mostly Buffy.
"Hey, I'm Elijah." He introduced himself to her as if they hadn't met before. Like he was not the person for who Rose and Trevor kidnapped her and Elena and as if he was not the person who ripped out three vampire their heart the last time they saw each other.
And most importantly as if he wasn't her 'soulmate'. Like he wasn't hoping that they would spend the rest of eternity together.
"Elijah's in town doing research on Mystic Falls." Jenna explained to her daughter and niece as she grabbed the box back out of Elena's arms and walked to the kitchen.
"It's a pleasure." He said to the blonde girl, stepping even more closer to her, holding out his hand for her to shake.
"Hi." Buffy muttered back, shaking his hand. The two hadn't even let go of each other's hand when Buffy's mom came walking back into the hallway, causing Buffy to let go of his hand as quickly as she could, making Elijah let out a small sigh, disappointed to not hold her hand for longer.
"So, you know, you're welcome to stay here and rummage through this stuff or Elena or Buffy and I could help you load it into your car." Jenna said to Elijah, not having missed the look shared with Elena.
"Yeah, or I can get someone to pick it up tomorrow." Elijah suggested.
"Also a good plan." Jenna nodded.
"Thank you so much for inviting me into your home, Jenna." Elijah said to Jenna as he followed behind her to the front door, before turning backΒ towards the two girls behind him. "And Buffy, Elena, I hope to see you again sometimes soon."
Buffy gave him a small smile, knowing that her mom would know something was wrong if she didn't give any reply to the man in front of them at all.
As soon as the Elijah was out the door, Elena ran back up the stairs to Jeremy's bedroom, Buffy following fast after her when she realised what Elena was thinking.
"What is it?" Jeremy asked, holding one part of his headphone away from his ear so that he could hear what Elena needed, since she clearly needing something after knocking on his door for at least ten times.
Buffy stood still on her spot by the top of the stairs, looking from Jeremy to Elijah, trying to hide her alarmed expression from Jeremy. Elijah stood with his back pressed against the wall, hiding himself from Jeremy's side. His finger was to his lips, silently telling the Gilbert girl not to tell her brother he was standing there.
"Jenna was just asking me to get you to help her with the boxes." Elena spoke, saying the first thing she could come up with.
"Okay." Jeremy said before leaving to go downstairs. "You helping?" He asked Buffy as he went off the stairs.
"Uhm, homework?" Buffy spoke, her words coming over more like a question.
"Sure." Jeremy spoke, letting out a small laugh, amused on her bad excuse.
"A wise choice." Elijah said to them soon as Jeremy was off the stairs.
"What do you want?" Elena asked while turning to Elijah.
"I think it's time we have a little chat. Don't you think so, Elskan?" Elijah asked, already back to staring at Buffy, who slowly nodded at his words.
The two sisters walked into Elena's room, since her was closer, Elijah following closely behind them. "Oh, forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm." He said.
"Then why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take us?" Elena questioned him, referring to the vampires in Slater's apartment.
"Because I didn't want either one of you to be taken. Klaus is the most feared and hated of the Originals, but those that fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out that the doppelgΓ€nger or Buffy exists, there'll be a line of vampires eager to take you both to him and I can't have that." Elijah explained to her as he sat down by her window, moving his suit jacket out of the way in order to make sure it wouldn't get any wrinkles in it.
"Isn't that exactly what you're trying to do?" Elena continued, not understanding why he wouldn't want to hand them over to Klaus.
"Let's just say that my goal is not to break the curse."
"So, what is yours?" Elena asked as she sat down on her own bed, soon followed by Buffy, who was sitting slightly closer to Elijah's side of the room.
"Klaus' obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts only those in his immediate circle."
"Like you?" Elena asked.
"Not anymore." Elijah said, shaking his head.
"Why not?" Buffy asked.
"A lot can happen over the centuries." Elijah asked, not giving a clear answer to her question. He wasn't about to bother her with everything that has happened between himself and Klaus over their long lives.
"You don't know where he is, do you? So you're trying to use us to draw him out." Elena continued.
"To do that I need you to stay put and stop trying to get yourself killed." Elijah replied.
"How do we know you're telling the truth?"
"If I wasn't being truthful, all your family would be dead and I'd be taking you to Klaus right now. Instead, I'm here and I'm prepared to offer you a deal."
"What kind of a deal?" Elena asked him, her interested peaking since she was curious on what Elijah was prepared to offered them.
"Do nothing. Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting and then, when the time is right, you and I shall draw out Klaus together and I shall make sure your friends remain unharmed." Elijah replied as he stood up.
"And family." Buffy added, making sure that Jeremy and Jenna were also included in that deal.
"Of course." Elijah reassured her.
"And then what?" Elena asked him.
"Then I kill him." Elijah simply replied.
"Just like that?" Elena asked, still not fully trusting the Original.
"Just like that. I'm a man of my word, Elena. I make a deal, I keep a deal."
"How are you gonna be able to keep everybody safe?" Elena asked him.
"I notice you have a friend, Bonnie, is it? She seems to possess the gift of magic. I have friends with similar gifts."
"You know witches?" Elena asked him with surprise and Elijah nodded.
"Together, we can protect everybody that matters to you both. So, do we have a deal?" He asked, standing up.
"I need you to do one more thing for me." Elena said, standing up to stand face to face with him, thinking about Stefan stuck in that stupid tomb.
"We're negotiating now?" Elijah asked, clearly amused.
"My boyfriend is stuck in the tomb together with Katherine. Could you get him out?" Elena asked him.
"Just him, tho. Leave Katherine in there for at least the next century or maybe even two." Buffy spoke up and Elena nodded. Agreeing with her sister on absolutely not wanting her doppelgΓ€nger to leave the tomb. The one place where she couldn't hurt anyone.
"My friends will be able to get Stefan out of the tomb." Elijah spoke with a nod, getting a small smile from Elena in return, truly appreciating that he was doing it.
"Now, could I have a word with you, Elskan?" Elijah asked looking down to the bed where Buffy was sitting.
"Yeah, sure." Buffy replied, standing up.
Elena gave her a look, telling her to be careful.
Buffy nodded as she left Elena's room, making her way over to her own bedroom, again with Elijah following closely behind her.
Buffy quickly picked up some lost pieces of clothing that she promised to her mom she would clean up a few days ago. Throwing them under her bed, hoping that Elijah hadn't see it, since she didn't want him to think she was someone who just let everything slinging around.
Which she was.
She was the most untidy person anyone could ever meet.
But Elijah had caught her action, he just didn't care very much about it. For him she would never have to pretend to be someone she was not.
"So what did you wanna talk about?" Buffy asked him, sitting down on her own bed, patting a spot next to her, since she didn't have a seat by the window like Elena.
Elijah gladly accepted the chance to sit down next to her.
"I figure you know about our bond from Rose Marie."Β
"And Katherine."Β Buffy added.
"Ah, Katarina."
"Mmh. So, it's true?" Buffy looked up at him. "The soulmate thing?" She asked him.
"Yes."
"But since when do soulmates exist? Shouldn't every vampire have a soulmate then?" Buffy wondered out loud.
"Someone told us a thousand years ago that we would have a soulmate. I have not met another vampire who has a soulmate."
"Oh, so- hold on a minute- a thousand years ago? You're thousand?" Buffy asked, eyes wide and slowly panicking.
"Well, yes." Elijah spoke, truthfully, not missing out on her panic.
"And I thought Stefan and Damon were old." Buffy spoke, before realising what she was saying. "Not that I'm saying that you're old. Well, maybe just a little, but you don't look over a thousand years. But so don't Stefan and Damon. You still look very good and-"
Oh my God
Why am I still talking?
A thousand???
"Thank you." Elijah spoke, quite amused by how she was rambling on. He just heard that he still looked good.
"So how many originals are there to be exact?" Buffy asked him the same question she asked Katherine. "I know that there is a sister. Rebekah. Is she your sister or Klaus's?"Β
"Both."
"Wait, hold on, you and Klaus are brothers?" Buffy asked with surprise.
"Yes."
"But you want him dead?"
"Yes. Quite a lot has happened in our lives." Elijah spoke and Buffy nodded, telling him that she understood.
A knock broke up their conversation. "Buf." Elena's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Yeah." Buffy responded and Elena opened the door.
"Your mom needs your help downstairs." The brunette spoke and Buffy stood up. Elena was already going back downstairs, when Buffy turned to Elijah.
"When will I see you again?"Β
"Very soon, Elskan. I promise." Elijah answered and Buffy turned around, a small smile on her lips.

Question: Do werewolves know who is a werewolf even if the second person hasn't triggered the curse yet?Β (I've been searching for more than an hour and I don't find an answer and I don't remember it either)
And I already know that I'm gonna have so much fun writing Elijah's and Buffy's relationship. Aaah cuties!!!
