(act one, chapter twenty-one: founder's day)

"Say cheese!" Bonnie said as she pointed the camera at the two friends and the couple, but before the Bennett witch could even take a picture, Caroline stopped her. Both her and Buffy were in gowns that they wore around the time the founder found Mystic Falls and Matt and Tyler were just wearing normal suits. So they were all in their Civil War costumes, like the mayor had requested of them. The only problem for Caroline was Matt his cast. Which came from Isobel of course.

"Wait! Hide your cast it's not era-appropriate!" Caroline told him, making Bonnie stop from taking a picture.

"Seriously?" Matt asked her as he moved.

"Yes!" Caroline giggled as he turned around so that his cast wasn't visible on the picture.

Them changing their position, caused Buffy and Tyler to do the same. Buffy smiled as well as Bonnie repeated her words before taking the picture of them in their costumes. "I want one with Bon and Care now!" Buffy told the two boys.

"Here, I can take it." Tyler offered Buffy and Bonnie quickly gave him the camera.

"I'll be on the float." Matt said, walking away. He only acted normal for the picture that Caroline and Buffy wanted. If he doesn't need to stand on it, he was not gonna spend a minute longer in Tyler's presence.

Tyler looked at Caroline. "I said I was sorry!" He defended himself.

"You made out with his mother and then you beat him to a pulp. You're gonna have to do a little bit better than sorry." Caroline told him and Bonnie quickly turned Buffy around so that Tyler wouldn't see her mouth hanging open.

"He did what!" Buffy whispered to Bonnie. She was extremely surprised. "And isn't she like 40? That's like twenty-four years! Is that even legal?"

"No, it's not." Bonnie said, being amused by Buffy's reaction.

"Oh, shit, I've got to go." Buffy told the other, quickly trying to walk away, which was not that easy with a dress that is almost bigger than you.

"Buffy! I was wondering where you were!" Elena told her as she caught up with her sister, while Buffy was cursing her dress for slowing her down. "You look great!" Elena complemented her.

"Go away, Elena." Buffy said, still struggling to hold her dress to walk better.

"B, come on! Please! I don't want it to be like this between us!" Elena begged her and Buffy stopped, turning around.

"Why don't you just have Damon erase my memory again? Then I could go back to being your in-the-dark cousin, huh?" Buffy asked her with sarcasm, starting to walk again.

"Buffy, please." Elena grabbed her arm, stopping her.

"No, Elena, just don't, okay? You can't fix this that easily. Something like this doesn't just get fixed. Now I have to get ready for the parade, excuse me." Buffy said and this time, Elena let her walk away since she had to get ready as well.

Luckily for her, Caroline and Matt stood in between Elena and Buffy. It was somewhat more unlucky for Matt since he had to stand next to Tyler.

"Let's give a big hand to the Mystic Fall's high school Marching Band!" Carol Lockwood commented from on the stage as the marching band and the cheerleaders parade. The public applauded them.

"And for a little local history, Mr. Saltzman's students have recreated Virginia's Battle of Willow Creek." Carol continued and Buffy knew that was the float that her little brother was on. Normally also Tyler if she hadn't asked him as her partner.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our stunning Miss Mystic Falls Court and their handsome escorts." This was their float and when they passed they laugh and wave to the crowd. "This is Caroline Forbes, Miss Mystic Falls. Aren't they beautiful?" Miss. Lockwood asked the public.

Buffy saw Bonnie in the crowd and waved at her, getting a wave in return. Suddenly Damon stepped in front of Bonnie, waving at her but Buffy stopped smiling and waved at one of the little girls in the front of the crowd.

─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ──

Buffy was sitting alone in the Mystic Grill, waiting for her brother when Damon suddenly sat down opposite of her.

"I like you better like this. The period look, it didn't suit you." Damon said to her with a smirk on his face as he looked at what she was wearing now.

"Is that an insult?" She asked him, taking another sip of her milkshake.

"No, Buf, it it a compliment of the highest order, actually." Damon said.

"Look Damon I'm not in the mood, so just leave." Buffy told him.

"You still mad about that memory thing."

"Yes, I am. You had no right to do that. What if I removed a memory from your head. Would you be happy with me?"

"Oh, come on. I did it to protect you."

"Yeah, everybody keeps saying that. It was not your call to make" Buffy said. "Tell me did you know about Alaric being my father, too?" And by the surprise on his face, Buffy knew he didn't. "You're lucky. I'm more mad at the people who knew that, but didn't tell me. Speaking of which."

"I don't believe that we can't fix. I lied, I was wrong. But you're my sister, B, and I love you, and I have to fix it. So just tell me, what can I do?" Elena asked her after greeting Damon shortly.

"You could've told me about Alaric. You know I would've done that if I had known you were adopted. And now you can go to hell, Elena." Buffy stood and walked outside, planning to go to the Forbes's house until the evening.

─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ──

"What are you doing?" She asked him, eyebrow raised at Damon as he grabbed her hand and away from Amy, who she was talking too.

"Saving your life. Fifteen words or less. Tomb vamps are here. Founding families are their target."Β

"I'm not from a founding family."

"I'm pretty sure they have been around long enough to know that you're as good as a Gilbert."

"Where are they?" Buffy asked, looking around but she didn't see anyone she reconiged from when she was in that house to save Stefan with Damon, Elena and Mr. Saltzman.

"Everywhere." Damon answered her. "Listen, you need to go home, okay? They are with many and I don't want you to get hurt." He said and he seemed sincere.Β

"Fine. But Jeremy is still out here. And Elena and my mom. I am maybe mad at them but I don't want them to die." Buffy told him, and Caroline as well, but she knew that the blonde was inside the Grill.

"I'll fine them. Now go." Damon said to her.

Buffy had never made her way into the Grill faster than now and luckily she saw Caroline really quick. "Caroline, can I talk to you?"

Caroline quickly looked in Matt's direction and then nodded yes.

"We need to go home."

"What? Why?"

"Remember what I said about the tomb vampires?" Buffy asked her.

"Yes."

"Well, they're here."

"Here? As in in the Grill? or as in outside?"

"I don't know where. But they want revenge for what the founding families did to them. It's why the founding families are the targets." Buffy explained to her. "So let's grab your stuff and Matt, while I go get Tyler over there, okay?"

Caroline quickly nodded as she walked back to her table and Buffy walked over to Tyler and his father, who were clearly arguing, and that became clear for the entire grill when his father, grabbed his arm.

"Mayor, is everything okay?" Buffy asked him and the mayor let go of his son's arm. Caroline and Matt joined them.

"Please, Tyler. I need you to go home. Now. Take your friends with you."

"What's going on?" Matt asked confused. First Caroline wanting to leave and now the mayor also wanted his son to leave?

"I can't explain. But all of you need to get home now. Please." The mayor said once more to Tyler.

"You know what, Mayor?" Buffy said. "I think that's a splendid idea of you. Come on, Tyler."

"Here, take my car, it's out back." Mr. Lockwood gave his son the keys of his car, making the boy even more confused but he nodded anyway. "Buffy, Caroline, Matt, go with him."

The four quickly went outside, using the backdoor of the Grill. Once inside Tyler's dad's car, the couple in the back. Buffy and Tyler in the front, Tyler started driving towards his home.

Not even five minute later, trouble came their way.

"What the hell is that?" Tyler asked as Buffy started rubbing her head from pain.

"What's the matter?" Caroline asked them.

"That noise." Buffy said, holding her head even more since the pain got more intense every second.

"Wait. What noise?" Matt asked his friend as he looked between the two since Buffy also seemed to be in pain.

"Oh, my God." Buffy muttered as the two started screaming from pain.

"Buffy? Buffy!" Caroline said, laying her hand on Buffy's shoulder in hope to be some support.

"Dude, hey!" Matt said to Tyler.

"What's happening?" Caroline asked as Tyler let go of the wheel from pain.

"The wheel!" Matt said.

"Tyler!" Caroline said.

But it was too late.

The noise got too loud.

Too painful.

The two friends in the front didn't even notice that the car wasn't going in a straight line anymore.Β

They had no idea what was happening.

The only thing they knew was that their head was gonna burst if the sound didn't stop soon.

The car went of the street and Caroline and Matt started screaming too.

And before they knew, the friends crashed against another car parked on the side of the route.

─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ──

Matt and Caroline are out of the car after someone, who probably saw them crash, had called an ambulance, from which the paramedics were now examining Buffy and Tyler.

"Hey, are you okay? Your side took the biggest hit?" Matt quickly asked Caroline as soon as they were out of the car.

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Caroline reassured him."No, they need to check you out." Matt said to her."No, I'm fine, I'm fine. They're helping Buffy and Tyler." Caroline said, pointing towards her best friend and Tyler on the ground next to each, both two paramedics around them.
One of the paramedics that was examining Buffy, opened one of her eyes, which flashed amber-gold before going back to her usual eye color. "What the hell?"Β

"What's wrong?" Matt asked with worry as he kneeled down by Buffy's head.

"Her eyes!" The paramedic told him.

But the attention to Buffy's eyes was quickly brought away from her, when Tyler gasped and woke up. "What happened?" He asked, confused.

"Dude, don't scare me like that!" Matt let out a breath. At least one of their friends is already okay. but when he turned his head, Caroline was on the ground, unconscious. "Caroline! Guys, over here! Caroline, wake up!" He yelled running back to her side, one of the paramedics of Tyler also went with him.Β
"Buffy." Tyler said as his head turned to the side where Buffy laid.Β

─── β‹†β‹…β˜†β‹…β‹† ──

Since both the girls still hadn't woken up, they decided to take them both to the hospital. And once in the hospital, they let the girl's their mother's know. Not even five minutes later, Jenna and Alaric already came running in the hospital, asking where their daughter was and Liz was not much behind them.

The two boys stayed outside while the three adults went to talk to the doctors.

"What happened?" Matt asked once the three returned back to the waiting room, all of them with tears in their eyes from the sight of seeing their child like that.

"Are they all right?" Tyler also asked.

"There was some internal bleeding. They're taking them both into surgery."

"What else did they say? Are they gonna be okay?" Matt asked.

"They're gonna do everything they can." Jenna replied as she sat down with her head in her hands.Β

Liz looked towards Tyler. "Tyler, have you talked to your mom?"

"I left her a message telling her I was here." Tyler replied to her question.

"You need to call her."

"What is it?" Tyler asked her, wondering what else could've gone wrong tonight.

"It's your dad." Liz said.
