❝ If cookies are human, I already married them.

× At Hangman Adam Page's family mansion, ×

"Maids, give my future daughter in law her favorite dessert!" Smiling from ear to ear, Hangman's mom happily ordered, excitement filled her eyes.

The maid in pink uniform approached Tegan Nox and placed a glass of ice cream, cookies, and cream flavor, in front of her.

"Oh my gosh! I'm flattered. Auntie, how did you know that cookies and cream is my favorite flavor?" Tegan still managed to ask, as she couldn't take her eyes off the delicious dessert with a very gorgeous presentable appearance.

"Daughter-in-law, how many times should I tell you that don't call me Auntie, instead call me mom. Hihihi!"

"O-okay, mom." Tegan smiles.

"Ask my very handsome son, your boyfriend. I got the information from him. He told me you love cookies and cream, captain marvel, and home-baked cookies." Mrs. Page giggles like a teenager.

Pursing up his lips, Hangman gave his mom a 'why did you say that' look. Confused Tegan turned to him with furrowed brows asking, "How did you know?"

Hangman stared back at her and came up with the response of, "Of course I know, my silly girlfriend. You told me so."

"But----" Tegan was about to say something but Hangman let go of words before she could.

"Here, eat some more." Adding another steak on her plate, Hangman smiled, "I want my girlfriend to satisfied her tummy when she's with me."

"Wow. You really love your girlfriend." Tegan snickered to abort her visible pink shade on her cheeks and to stop her heart from pounding uncontrollably.

"It's not my fault I fell In love. You are the one that tripped me."

"Speaking of which, you guys haven't shared to me how did you meet? How did you fell in love with each other?" Mrs. Page excitedly questioned.

"U-uh...when was it again?" Tegan started as she gave Mrs. Page 'let me recall look' on her face.

"It all started when I tripped in front of many students in the cafeteria because of her foot," Hangman answered, slinging his arm around Tegan's shoulders.

"Yeah and we banter after that, then the spark has been made. It was love at first sight, mom." Tegan added.

"And she fell in love first. I mean you can't blame her." Hangman laughed.

"No, you fell first." Tegan denied as she looked away from him.

Staring at Tegan's adorable face, Hangman snorted, "See? You looked away. That means you fell first."

"Awww! Hey maids, Look at these lovebirds! They stared at each other like a married couple! I can't wait for the wedding! Hihihi!"

Hangman scratches his nape at the embarrassing comments of his mom. Tegan couldn't help but chuckle seeing Hangman's reaction as she found it adorable.

She realized Hangman is a very adorable guy since the day she fell in love with the cowboy.

"I'll just check something," Hangman said and trudged his way to the kitchen.

Tegan scanned the wide table and found something missing, "Um, mom. Why's there's no beer on the table? Your son mentioned to me that's there's always alcohol and beer on the table and I noticed it too the first time you invited me."

"My precious son told me he already stopped drinking alcohol two months ago. I don't know what's the reason behind it. I've known my son very well and he wouldn't drop his favorite hubby without a big reason."

Tegan nodded and looked at Hangman at the kitchen, staring at the oven.

The dinner has been finally over for today and Mrs. Page asked Tegan to come back next month which she replied,

'The chance of coming back is the size of an atom.'

Sitting in awkward silence, Hangman immediately started the car when Tegan put her seatbelt on.

"You didn't inform me that you stopped drinking alcohol," Tegan said, breaking off the silence. "But what do I expect, we're just-------"

"Hey, are you not free next month?" Hangman asked, interrupting her.

Tegan was about to spill the thoughts on her mind she hides since morning but she decider aborted it and came up with the reply of, "I.....I have a family outing."

While eyes on the road, Hangman sighed, "You're lying."

"I'm not. I told you. I have a family outing."

"Then could my mom and I attend your family outing?" Hangman suddenly commented, making Tegan to looked at him confusedly.

"What? Are you just alright? It'll just be a one day absent, your mom will not get suspicious to us. So chill."

Hangman groaned, stopped the car, and curiously looked into her crystal blue eyes. "I know you're just lying about your family outing. So could you tell me what's wrong?"

Tegan looked confused and send his question back to him, "What's the matter with you? What's the big deal about not attending a dinner next month?"

"It is a big deal. I don't know what's going on in your mind. You're acting weird lately."

"Yes and so do you! You know what, let's end this. I don't wanna lie to your mom anymore. Let's stop this fake relationship you and I had."

/ FLASHBACK /

"My precious son, when are you going to show your girlfriend to us?" Mrs. Page excitedly asked while having lunch with her children.

"Mom, don't pressure me." Were the only words came out from Hangman's mouth.

"Psh!" Slicing the steak, his big sister rolled her eyes. "I told you, Mom. He's gay. He's not into girls."

"Hey, I'm not. It's just we keep it private." He reasoned out, drinking some beer.

"Oh really? Then show her to us next week. We promise you, we'll keep it private. But if you can't do it, then that proves you don't really have a girlfriend and you are gay!" His sister smirked.

"I like that idea, my precious daughter." Mrs. Page second the motion.

"No thanks, Hangman." Dakota Kai whispered back while writing the lecture on her notebook.

"Pretty please? Please. Let's just pretend or else my big sis won't stop teasing me."

"In your dreams. Besides, I have my eye on someone. So stop pestering me or else I'm telling the Dean that you're harassing me verbally."

Hangman groaned in frustration. He doesn't have any friends that are a woman except Dakota Kai. Asking strangers is most likely not gonna happen. He doesn't want them to picture him a bad guy.

"Miss Nox, where is your work?" Their practical research teacher, Taz, asked after checking the list of people who submitted their research paper.

Tegan nervously stood up and said "I-i'm very sorry, Sir. I left it at home but I already finished it. Please accept my apology."

"Since you left your finished work at home, pass it tomorrow at seven in the morning."

"B-but sir---"

"No buts. If you couldn't pass your research paper at the right time, you'll repeat this semester."

Teacher Taz walked out of the room and Tegan groaned, shoving her face on her desk. Hangman smirked as he thought of an idea.

"Hey,"

"Go away whoever you are. I'm in deep sorrow right now." Tegan cried out.

Hangman tapped her shoulder, "Judging from your actions, you didn't have any research paper, don't you?"

Tegan looked up and pouted, "Go away! You're making me feel worse. Stop rubbing on my face that I don't know how to make a research paper... Huhuhuhu..."

"No. I'm here to help you." He said on bended knees to look at her face.

"What did you say?"

"I'll do your research paper. All of the chapters."

"Really? I mean why? Why are you helping me?" Tegan asked, wiping her tears on the corner of her eyes.

"I will do it only if you promise me that you're gonna pretend my girlfriend in front of my Mom and my sister. It's a win to win situation."

"You want us to have a fake relationship? Wait, who are you? Why should I accept your offer?" She knitted her brows on him, examining his face.

"Seriously? We're classmates since last years and you have no idea who am I?" He asked as he couldn't believe it. "I am Hangman Adam Page, Hangman for short."

"How can I be sure that you're going to make my research paper?" Tegan pouted, still doubting him.

"I can assure you. Tell me your address and I'm going to send it to you tonight with surveys. I promise you."

"Tonight? You can do it only one day?" Impressed Tegan asked.

Hangman chuckled, "Doing research is pretty easy than convincing you to be my fake girlfriend."

Tegan Nox accepted the deal after she passed the research paper with complete chapters on Teacher Taz. She accepted a four-month contract with Hangman and she promised she'll act like a real girlfriend which wasn't hard for her to do it because she already entered a relationship before.

Hangman's Mom and his sister were convinced of their acting skills. Mrs. Page got obsessed to see her daughter-in-law, as she proclaimed it, and she needs to see her every month to make a strong bond and connection.

"What? You agreed to Hangman's deal?" Dakota said in disbelief as she shared her cookies with her Welsh classmate.

"Thanks. If cookies are human, I already married them. I love cookies so much. So I owe Hangman. He's the reason why I didn't repeat the first semester." Tegan told her while making their way to a convenience store.

"Wow! You mean he did your research paper?"

"Yeah, and he finished it in just one day." Tegan proudly said. "And now we're in the second month of our fake relationship.

"I'm friends with him since last year and I'll tell you, he's a very sweet guy. I wouldn't get surprised if you fell for him, for real." Dakota smirked as they entered the store.

Tegan chuckled, "That's very unlikely to happen. I don't like guys who love drinking alcohol."

"You'll never know what's coming. Hey, look! There's an ice cream over there!"

"Let's buy cookies and cream!" Tegan shrieked out as she hurriedly went for ice cream.

"You really love that flavor."

/ END OF FLASHBACK /

"Yes and so do you! You know what, let's end this. I don't wanna lie to your mom anymore. Let's stop this fake relationship you and I had."

Swallowing the glowing lump on his throat, "What? Why?"

"I said I don't wanna lie to your Mom anymore? Is that reason wasn't enough?"

"But we still have one month on the contract...."

"I can't do this anymore." Tegan looked away and took a deep breath. "I have these feelings since last week and I hate it so much."

"I'm mad at you for detecting my reasons a lie. This is getting heavy on my chest so I decided to spill this out now. I'm sorry that I myself ruined the plan." She started, staring at the window, trying not to let her tears escape from her eyes.

"Hangman, let's end this fake relationship 'cause my feelings for you are getting real."

Hangman slowly turned his head to her. He was surprised at what he had heard. He never expects she will say that.

Gulping, he suddenly asked. "Why do you hate it?"

"I hate it 'cause I know you're just pretending but I fell in love with you. You were right. I fell first."

Hangman grabbed Tegan's hands and he found himself staring at her crystal blue eyes filled with confusion.

"Then let's make it real."

Tegan's heart could burst out because of his hold but she still managed to reply, "What? No! You stop pretending, alright?"

"Let's make our relationship real since our feelings for each other weren't fake anymore," Hangman said softly, making her world to stop.

"You were wrong, Tegan. I fell first. From the very first moment, you pretend to be my girlfriend in front of my family. You're extremely beautiful inside and out. Your undeniable beauty caught my eyes but I fell for your bubbly and easy-to-cry personality. I was like, someday, I want a girlfriend like this."

"One day, I followed you when you were with Dakota that night 'cause I want you to be safe especially that kind of hour. I heard you like cookies and cream. I also heard you don't date alcoholic guys, that's why I stopped it. I want to make you happy for real even you thought of it a fake move."

Tegan pouted and hit his chest, "W-why didn't you say so?!"

"Because I'm afraid that you might turn me down. I don't want you to feel awkward when you're with me. I thought to myself that there's no chance you would feel the same about me until you spill it out."

"I hate you, Hangman. I wasted my tears for nothing." She pouted and then he held her cheeks, as they stared at each other.

"No. You love me." He gave her a sheepish smile.

"Silly cowboy." She chuckled.

"I have a present for you." He says and started to dig up on his paper bag. He showed her red box of something, "tadaaaa!"

"Oh my gosh!" Tegan placed her palm on her mouth in disbelief and frowned, "Hangman, we're still studying. But I'm gonna marry you someday."

"At least you assured me you'll say yes someday. But silly, that is not a ring. I'm sorry if the box is red and it looks like a wedding ring box but just in a large size."

"It's not?" Tegan looked away in embarrassment.

"It's not but I'm sure you'll love more the present in the box." He smiles.

Tegan slowly opens it and her eyes enlarge as it almost popped out from the sockets. She started digging on it in excitement.

"These cookies are heavenly delicious! I am not aware that you can bake cookies."

"I don't wanna be cowboy anymore. I wanna be cookies now." Hangman suddenly commented, aborting her statements.

"What? Why is that?" She confusedly asked, munching the yummy brown pastry.

"Because I heard someone says if cookies are human, she'll gonna marry them."

"You silly guy!" Tegan just shook her head at his nonsense lines but a very smooth one.

Hangman stares at her for a minute alternating between looking into her eyes and gazing down at her pinkish lips.

He closes his eyes as his big sister had told him, but he could hear the crinkling of her smile as she positioned her lips, tilting her head so that their lips could meet firmly and happily at last.
