TEGAN NOX'S POV
A month has passed after I met Dakota's secret admirer, Kyle O'Reilly. Who would have thought we had the same calculus subject under Professor Angle? We're not close. I just know that he likes my best friend, Dakota Kai, who's already in love with someone else.
But the thing is Kyle and I keep bumping at each other by accident on multiple occasions and I'm trying to figure out if fate's playing at me. At those times, he just nods his head with a genuine smile on his face, on his side where his group of friends called "The Undisputed Era" known as the troublemakers of the university. Up until now, I can't believe that Kyle O'Reilly is one of them. He doesn't look like the type to beat up people.
Kyle and I are not close. We're just seatmates in one subject. That's all there is. But fate keeps playing around.
"You again," I muttered after I perked up seeing Kyle holding a tray of breakfast.
"You have a problem with that?" He retorted back. The nerve!
I stopped myself from eye-rolling and focus on reviewing my notes for later's exam. I heard someone's coughing, especially in front of me and even if I'm like this, I tend to lose focus easily.
"What do you want?" My voice filled with annoyance, not looking up knowing it's still Kyle.
"Care to share your table? This cafe is awfully crowded this morning." He complained and I glance around to see that it is indeed crowded. I nodded my head letting him share a table with me. I mean- why not? It's just Kyle O'Reilly.
"Thanks, Tegan." I had the wrong timing because when he sat down in front of me, I saw him flashing a smile. That smile.
Damn.
I simply nodded my head and muttered a 'no problem.' This is no time to lose focus, I have to make sure I'm going to pass my exam later.
"Hey! Tegan." He called out again. Why is he so annoying?
"Yes?"
He chewed more of his burger before asking me, "Do you need help?"
"Huh?" I asked dumbfounded and perked up to see his serious face.
"You're taking literature under Professor Ohno, right?" He asked in confirmation and took another bite of his burger.
I nodded my head in response, "How'd you know?"
"He always took literature every second semester. We took it back on our first year, second sem and you don't have to worry about his exams, it's easy peasy." He assured me.
I furrowed my brows, "Did you passed his exams?"
"Duh! Obviously." He confidently stated.
"How about Adam Cole?" I blurted out.
He chuckled, "He barely passed the subject."
"Wow." Is all I could say.
He shrugged at me, "Adam rarely shows up in his subject anyway."
"Figures." It's Adam Cole. He never shows up in classes.
"I still have my notes. Do you need it?" He suggested and I blurted out something I shouldn't have. "You're writing notes? Shocking!"
I saw him rolled his eyes at me as he crossed his arms and pout.
He's too cute.
"Hey! Even if I'm like this I love to write notes in subjects that I'm interested," He muttered, still pouting.
I stopped myself from giggling at his cute reaction, "People find literature boring tho."
"That's on them, literature is amazing. I don't understand why people hate it." He defended the subject. Maybe he really loves it.
I highlighted another sentence on my handouts before I speak once again, "Dakota hates literature the most because Prof. Ohno kept calling her on recitation."
I saw him smiling and nodded his head, "Then I shall give my notes, pass it on Dakota, I swear it'll be helpful to her."
He's way too simple.
"I'll keep that in mind."

"What?" I asked because I can feel Kyle's staring at me.
"Nothing." He replied and looked away. What is he being weird for?
"Whatever. Are you done eating yet?" I asked even after seeing his clean plate and tray.
He booed silently but I heard him, "Do you want me to leave already? Am I disturbing you?"
"Stop being dramatic Kyle. You're not disturbing me. It's just..." I cut my own words as I stared at his face.
"What?"
"You have ketchup in your cheek. Wipe it." I pointed out.
"Oh? Where?" He immediately wipes his left cheek.
"It's on the other cheek," I said, pointing the right one.
"Huh? Is it gone yet?" He asked once again and kept wiping his face with a tissue.
I burst out laughing, "Pffft! I was just kidding!"
He always fell for it. So naive.
"Tegan! You're messing with me!" He complained, but his voice didn't sound offended at all.
"I did. You're so funny whenever you're like this." My voice hinted with amusement.
"Hmmp! Are you done reviewing yet?" He nosily asked, trying to peek at my notes in the table.
I confidently nodded my head, "Yes, now I'm craving for a milk tea."
He raised his brow, "Shall I order for you?"
I was taken by surprise but knowing this is Kyle O'Reilly, I simply smiled at him.
"Nah, you don't have to. I have feet." I stated facts pointing at my feet as I stood up.
"I didn't say you don't. I was just being kind since I'm closer in the counter." He reasoned out.
"I know. Stay there and watch my bag for me. Thanks." I walked towards the counted and I heard him yelled "Like I had a choice."
He's way too kind.
As I line up on the counter, I glanced at Kyle who's busy reading my handouts. He took my pen and started writing something in there. I wonder what it was.
After I ordered, I walked back to our table and put the milk tea close to his cheek. He jumps in surprise and glared at me.
"I'm back. Here you go." I was waiting for him to take the milk tea I'm offering but he's looking at me like I grew two heads.
"What is this for?" He asked.
"Just a treat." I simply answered.
"Why?" Why does he have so many questions?
"For lending me your notes in the future." I clarified.
He accepted it after that, "Psh! Thanks. I'll give my notes to you later. It's in my locker."
"Uh-huh."
I put my handouts inside my bag and took my phone.
"Your number?" He asked suddenly.
Damn Kyle O'Reilly and his surprises. I almost lose my grip on my phone.
"Why do you need it?"
"For the notes, duh! I don't know your schedule. Even if we kept bumping each other on campus most of the time, who knows when will I see you again." He groaned as he took his phone from his pocket.
So he noticed that we kept seeing each other accidentally. I guess I'm not the only one.
I gave him my cell and he started dialing my number. It rings within a second and he teases me about my ringtone.
"You love Captain Marvel?" He teases with a grin.
"And what about it?"
"Easy! I didn't say anything yet." He defensively said but that grin is annoying me.
"Should I give this to Dakota?" I started and I see how his jaw dropped.
"Tegan!" He screamed my name. Pfft! Now, look at how the tables have turned.
"I mean, there's nothing wrong right?" I playfully said, enjoying how nervous Kyle is right now.
"She has a boyfriend." He stated some facts.
"You're so bitter about it. You can contact her too you know as friends?" I suggested, giving him a little push.
"I'm contented seeing her from afar. Besides, I'm not going to tell her how I feel." He started.
"Why?" I curiously asked.
"Because I don't stand a chance." He said it with a very sad voice. He's being considerate. Of course, this is Kyle. What did I even expect?
"How can you say that when you haven't tried it yet?" I muttered softly and I'm sure he heard me.
"Simply because she's in love with him." He whispered and looked outside the window.
She's definitely head over heels at him. I know since I'm her best friend. She told me everything. People that like her don't stand a chance already because she's in love and that guy loves her too.
"I couldn't argue that but you never know. Nothing's guarantee yet." I snorted as I sip on my milk tea. I didn't know why I said that. To help Kyle? To comfort him? Who knows?
He's a good guy. I can see that. Everyone can see that.
After I drank my milk tea, I grabbed my bag and stood up, "Let's go?"
"Where?" He innocently asked.
"Campus, obviously. Don't you have a class?" I asked and he gave a confused look. He sighs afterward, "I still need to do something."
Of course, he's busy but I know it has something to do with his friends.
"Adam's mission?" I guess and he chuckled in response.
"Related to that."
I rolled my eyes at him and nodded my head, "Tell Adam to attend speech class tomorrow, or else he's gonna failed."
"I will. By the way, good luck on your exam!" He raised his fist and I second the motion.
"Thank you," I muttered as I returned his fist-bumped.

As I walked towards the classroom and sit on my respective chair, I opened my bag to get my pen, and then I remembered that Kyle wrote something on my handouts.
When I found what Kyle wrote, I couldn't help but smile.
You can do it! I believe in you! :)
"Hey Tegan, are you alright?" I heard Dakota's voice beside me.
I nodded my head and weakly smiles at her.
"What were you smiling about?"
"Ugh! I'm so envious of you Dakota! You're so lucky!" I complained half-hardheartedly.
She just raised her brow at me and before she can ask me about it, Professor Ohno walked inside the room.
As much as I want to tell Dakota about Kyle O'Reilly,
The guy who likes her, who blushes cutely whenever she's around.
The guy who stuttered in front of many people after he saw her in the audience.
The guy who gave up his seat and table just so she can comfortably sit in a very crowded fast food place.
The guy who refused to change his locker location because he's happy that his locker is next to her.
The guy who won the hearts of girls at the university because of his innocent charms and yet Dakota won his heart.
The same guy who's contented seeing her from afar.
The same guy who refused to tell her what he really feels not because he's afraid of rejection but he knows the outcome.
The one that likes Dakota Kai and just wants her to be happy but she doesn't even know him.
Why do I know all of this? I'm Dakota's best friend and at those times, I'm with her. I can see Kyle O'Reilly's looking at her. Only her. And it pains me that she never notices him.
As much as I want to tell Dakota about Kyle O'Reilly, I want to respect Kyle's wishes. If he doesn't want to tell her how he feels, who I am to push his buttons? It's his life, his choice.
He's a good guy and he deserves nothing but the best.
