"Welcome, everyone, to my world", Ego stated loudly as he turned towards the group, smiling.
"Wow, you have your own planet?", Peter questioned his dad as he let his gaze wander over the impressive landscape.
The grey haired man shrugged as he turned back around to face them, "Come on, no larger than your Earth's moon."
"Humility. I like it. I, too, am extraordinary humble", Drax stated proudly while he grabbed onto his belt.
They continued their way, when suddenly a couple of round seethrough bubbles approached them and flew right over their heads.
Talia eyed the bubbles for a moment and then watched amused how Drax let one of them explode into many tiny and colorful ones, while he laughed loudly.
Suddenly all of the bubbles exploded one after the other and turned into more tinier ones, making a smile appear on Talia's face.
At some point, a large Palast appeared between all the different plants that had blocked their view and Ego stopped the white platform before he led the group towards his home.
"You own a planet and can destroy two dozen spaceships without a suit. What are you exactly?", Gamora questioned the man through squinted eyes.
"I'm what's called a Celestial, sweetheart", the man told her simply before he walked away from them.
The group stopped and looked after him and Mantis, "A Celestial? Like a God?" The man stopped walking before he glanced at them, "Mhm, small 'g' son. At least on the days I'm feeling humble as Drax."
He then continued leading them into his palast and Talia's mouth dropped open as she entered the gigantic building.
Everywhere was gold and the building looked like it would cost more than she could ever own from jobs.
"I don't know where I came from exactly. First thing I remember is flickering adrift in the cosmos utterly and entirely alone." The man told them as they all stopped in front of a metalic device that had a brain inside of it.
"Over million years I learned to control the molecules around me. I grew smarter and stronger", Ego continued telling his story while a planet built around the brain.
He walked downstairs, "And I continued building from there, layer by layer, the very planet you walk on now." He pointed to the ground as Peter looked over at Gamora and Talia, "Whoa."
"But I wanted more. I desired meaning. There must be some life out there in the universe, besides just me, I thought. And so, I set myself the task of finding it."
They all walked by another metalic and round device that pictured an eye. A blue energy light shot out of it and made it's way to the surface before it built a human body.
"I created what I imagined biological life to be like, down to the most minute detail." They all stopped in their track and Drax spoke up, "Did you make a penis?"
"Dude!", Peter exclaimed while Gamora gazed at him as well, "What is wrong with you?"
"If he's a planet, how could he make a baby with your mother? He would smush her!", Drax questioned them curiously and Peter let out a deep sighed.
"I don't need to know how my parents-" Drax furrowed his eyebrows at him in confusion, "-Why? My father would tell the story of impregnating my mother every winter solstice."
Peter gave him a look, "That's disgustingly!"
"It was beautiful. You Earthers have hang-ups", the man said as he still looked at Peter. Now it was Ego's turn to speak up again, "Yes, Drax. I got a penis."
"Ha! Thank you!", Drax exclaimed loudly. Ego shrugged, "That's not half bad. I've also got pain receptors and a digestive system and all the accompanying junk. I wanted to experience what it truly meant to be human as I sat out amongst the stars, until I found what I sought. Life."
Ego pointed to another picture which showed him in his human body finding other life. "I was not alone in the universe after all."
"When did you met my mother?", Peter questioned him curiously from behind, making Ego look at him. "Not long after."
He started walking again and stopped infront of the picture of him and a blond woman, "It was Meredith that I first experienced love. I called her my river lily. And from that love, Peter- you."
The belly of the woman started glowing in a bluish light and revealed a baby. "I have searched for you for so long. And when I heard from a man from Earth who held an Infinity stone in his hands without dying- I knew you must be the son of the woman I loved."
Peter and Ego looked at each other in silence before the young man suddenly spoke, "If you loved her, why did you leave her?"
There was a silence laying over the group until Talia and Gamora decided that it was best to leave the father and son to themselves. It was time for them to talk about the past, but without everyone listening.
A bit later that day, Gamora and Talia were walking through the palast, before they exited through the large golden door.
The two women immediately spotted Mantis and Drax, sitting on the stairs that lead down to the garden.
The two immediately stopped speaking to each other and Talia narrowed her eyes at the black haired woman. She knew something was off about her, but she just couldn't put her finger on it.
"What's going on?", Gamora questioned the two interested as she stared at Mantis. Drax pointed at the woman with the antennas on her head, "This gross bug lady is my new friend."
The woman nodded smiling, "I'm learning many things, like I'm a pet and ugly."
Gamora immediately frowned as she shook her head, "You're not ugly." The blond shot the man a dark glare, "Drax!"
The man looked at the two, still pointing at Mantis, "What are you talking about?" Talia's gaze fell onto the woman again, "Mantis, could you show us where we'll be staying?"
Mantis nodded her head quickly before she stood up and lead them all through the large garden.
On the other side, stood another gigantic building, and as they approached it Gamora spoke up again, "Why are there no other beings on this planet?"
"The planet is Ego. A dog would not invite a flea to live on his back", the woman answered her simply while she walked in front of them.
Talia raised her eyebrows at the woman, "And you're not a flea?"
They looked at Mantis quizzically, who shook her head, while she continued walking, "I'm a flea with a purpose. I help him sleep."
Gamora suddenly stepped in front of the black haired woman as she shot her a dark glare, "What were you about to say to Drax before we walked out?"
Talia carefully eyed the woman as she answered Gamora very nervously, "Nothing." She quickly hurried past them and continued her way, "Your quarters are this way."
Gamora, Drax and Talia exchanged a few sceptical and annoyed looks before they all followed after her again.
"ππ, π πππππ πππ ππ ππππ πππππ ππ ππππ someday", Peter stated deeply in his own thoughts while he let his gaze wander over the beautiful landscape.
Talia and the man currently stood on the large balcony that was connected to their rooms. The brunette desperately tried to reach Rocket, but the raccoon hadn't answered her messages since the three had left them behind.
The raccoon could be a pain in the ass sometimes but despite that she was kinda worried that something had happened to them.
"Rocket? Rocket, are you there?", she loudly spoke into her communicator, ignoring what Peter had just said.
For a moment there was silence but as the blond realized that no one would answer her she let out an annoyed sighed.
Suddenly music started playing and she felt two warm hands on her arms and Peter's body softly touching her back.
The brunette's gaze flickered up as she frowned, "What are you doing, Peter?"
The man moved his head to the other side of her face and smiled, while he looked over her shoulder at her side profile, "Dance with me."
Talia sighed deeply while she listened to his pleading voice. "I'm not going to dance with you. Rocket hasn't responded since we-", she started to inform him but Peter grabbed her communicator and threw it onto the couch that stood besides them.
He softly grabbed her hands and rubbed with his thumb circles onto the back of her hand. The man then put one of his earbuds into her own ear, "This is Sam Cooke, you know him? One of the greatest Earth's singers of all time."
He slowly lead her to the middle of the balcony and the two looked into each other's eyes. Talia slowly placed her left hand on Peter's shoulder while he interwined their fingers and held up their other hands.
They started swaying to the music and Talia had to look up when she wanted to see his face. She broke the eye contact and started to stare at something behind him, but Peter just kept staring at her face, while smiling slightly.
He slowly lifted her hand into the air and twirled her around before she stopped and spun back towards him, with a smile on her face.
The blond woman placed her hands back onto his shoulders and looked into his forrest green eyes while she smiled.
"Drax thinks you're not a dancer", Peter stated with a straight face while he looked down into the woman's blue eyes.
Her gaze darkened immediately, "If you tell anyone about this, ever, I'll kill you."
Peter gazed down at her unimpressed before he spoke up, shrugging, "When are we gonna do something about this unspoken thing between us?"
His eyebrows were raised whole Talia frowned at him in surprise, "What unspoken thing?"
The two continued dancing to the slow music as Peter started explaining, "This- Cheers, Sam and Diane, a guy and a girl on a TV show who dig each other, but never say it because if they do, the ratings would go down, that sort of thing."
Talia felt how the butterflies were back in her stomach and she suddenly felt how she got quite nervous. Despite that the woman still kept a straight face, looking past him at her communicator to avoid the topic. She shook her head, "There is no unspoken thing."
There was a moment of silence before Peter answered her, a smile playing on his lips, "Well, it's a catch-22, because if you said it, then it would be spoken and you would be a liar. So, by not saying it you are telling the truth, and admitting that there is."
Talia frowned immediately, completely confused by his statement, "What? No that's not- you know what I don't care. What we should be discussing Peter, is that something is off about this place."
She suddenly let go of him and quickly walked over to the couch to grab her communicator. Peter huffed while he felt the warmth of her body leave him.
Talia shook her head to herself, "It dosen't feel right. Something is off."
"What are you talking about?", Peter questioned her in a high pinched voice. He seemed like he was confused by her actions, "You're the one who wanted me to come here!"
Talia walked back inside their room while Peter followed after her quickly. "That girl Mantis, I think she's afraid of something. Gamora thinks so too, by the way."
The blond woman sat down onto the couch before looking up at Peter worried. The man had a hurt expression on his face, "Why are you trying to take this away from me?"
Talia frowned as she looked at the man quickly, she was taken back by his statement. "I'm not trying to take this away from you."
"He's my father. He's blood", Peter started arguing with her loudly and Talia shrugged. "You have blood on Earth, and like me you never wanted to return there."
"Again, you made me come here!", Peter shouted angryly at the woman, his temper rising. "And Earth is the place my mother died in front of me."
Talia felt how she got angrier and angrier by every second he spoke to her like, he did right now, "No, Peter it's because that place is real, and this place is fantasy!"
Peter held up his arms as he followed after Talia again, who now approached the door, "This is real! I'm only half human, remember?"
The blond intergalactic thief gave him a worried glance, she realized just how worried she was about him, "Yeah, I know. That's exactly the part I worry about!"
The brunette man squinted his eyes at Talia immediately, "Oh, I get it, you're jealous, because I'm part God and you like when I'm the weak one, right?"
Talia scoffed loudly, she wasn't going to admit it, but that remark stung. She quickly grabbed her backpack from the bed, "You were insufferable to begin with. By the way, I haven't been able to reach Rocket. I'm gonna go outside now, and I'm gonna try and get a signal."
Peter just completely ignored what the woman had just said while he shouted after her, "You know what? This isn't Cheers after all! This is whatever the show is where one person is willing to open themselves up to new possibility, and the other person is a jerk, who doesn't trust anybody!"
Talia started walking out of the room as Peter continued shouting, "It's a show that dosen't exist! That's why it would get zero ratings!"
The blond woman stopped in her trails, the anger burning in her before she spun around to him and shouted back, "I hated Cheers!"
"I finally found my family. Don't you understand that?", Peter them suddenly questioned her desperately, hoping for her support. But Talia gave him a sad look before she shook her head at him disappointed, "I thought you already had."
Talia then quickly spun around on her heel and finally dashed out of the room. She swung her bag over her shoulder while leaving Peter behind.
The blond immediately turned to her left and walked down the long empty corridor before she came face to face with no other than Gamora, who also had her communicator in her hands.
"No signal either, huh?", Talia questioned her friend curiously and Gamora nodded her head firmly.
"Want to try it outside?", the green skinned woman then questioned her and Talia immediately agreed. The two then made their way outside, this wired feeling still spreading in their stomachs, but soon they gave up on trying to reach Rocket.
