LEANING AGAINST SHINSOU'S BACK, head tilted forward, I opened my mouth, catching the meatball that I had thrown into the air. As I finished chewing and swallowing my bite, I closed my eyes, leaning my head back onto Shinsou's broad shoulders, playfully poking his cheek.
A few weeks had passed, and we had grown relatively close, something that had surprised me as I've never found myself to be the type of person to be able to befriend someone so quickly. Especially after what happened to Uraraka and I. Our personalities clicked surprisingly well together, like two weird-shaped puzzle pieces, don't ask me how as I don't know how to explain it either.
I guess I could somehow compare it to chocolate and bananas? They're pretty great on their own, but when they clash, they're even better. It's not that the flavor had changed; they just enhanced each other's characteristics like its texture and taste. Ok, maybe not chocolate and bananas, chocolate chip cookies?
A chocolate chip cookie is not what it is if there were no chocolate chips, and neither would chocolate chips taste good on their own. Neither of them taste good by itself, but together, they're unbeatable, the best invention to have ever been made. They were never meant to exist, but the accidental creation itself would soon take over the world and later become a classic.
Woah, ok Shinsou and I probably won't take over the world anytime soon, but I think you get the idea.
"Hey, have you ever just, smiled at random old ladies down the street to show that you're not the average teenage thug?" I questioned.
He turned his back and glanced at me with a raised eyebrow. "Well, that's a bit random."
"So do you?" I asked. "Or is it just me."
Placing his hand over his mouth, his shoulders shook as he fully turned around towards me with puffed cheeks. We awkwardly stare at each other, too long for the society to deem comfortable, before I finally got the hint.
"No?"
"Pft—"
"Haha."
He snorted and tumbled into a fit of laughter upon hearing my awkward chuckles, I blankly stare at him, shrugging before taking another bite of my bento. "Have I told you yet?" He laughed, wiping tears away from his eyes. " You're weird."
I rolled my eyes. "Yes, yes. You told me that the first time we talked." I sighed.
Speaking about random things off the top of my head had also become something I find myself easily doing around him too. I don't know why, but despite acting like a complete doofus in front of him, it doesn't seem to spite me at all. I have way too much random rants going inside my head anyway, speaking it out to someone actually feels pretty great.
Closing the lid to my bento, I placed it back into my bag and took out my phone to check some notifs off from my new insta account. Ah, yes. About that. My mother had finally gone through with me about the whole fiasco, saying that my fan base would be significantly bigger and feel closer to me if I started early, something along the lines of that anyways.
I'm still kind of hesitant in exposing my life to random people on the internet, who knew what they could do? Just taking a picture of what's outside my window can automatically make people find out where I live. Despite being lonely at times, living in a vast mansion by myself and a couple of maids, I don't need any stalkers to accompany me; no, thank you.
As of now, I have posted nothing more than a selfie, and some pictures of my cooking that I did, each with a few thousand likes and a few hundred comments. All to which I never replied to. They were all comments like, "❤️❤️❤️" and "😍😍😍" anyway, what the fuck would I respond to that? Actually, now that I think about it, I won't be surprised if half of them were bots.
"Woah, how many followers do you have?" Shinsou asked, peering over my shoulder, glancing at my phone.
I tapped onto my home page and glanced towards my followers, "Oh," I paused. "20k."
"20k?!" he slumped his head onto my lap and whipped out his phone from his pocket. "Dude, didn't you just get your account like a week ago?"
"Yeah?"
"What the fuck?" He turned his phone towards me and showed me his home page.
"I only have 2k, and I had my account for a year now." He sighed. "This shit ain't fair."
Taking the golden opportunity, I ruffled his purple locks, stroking the softness from his scalp to the ends of its roots. "Aw, it's okay. If you want me to, I'm happy to shout you out."
"Nah, it's fine," he waved me off, leaning his head into my palm, while I silently squeal at the cute gesture. "I'm not into that kind of thing. I'm just surprised you could get so many followers in such a short span of time."
Braiding a few strands of his hair, I chuckled, "I'm surprised too."

A few moments passed, with us just appreciating each other's companies. Him scrolling down his feed while I continue playing with his hair.
It's so fucking soft, I'm telling you. It's like petting a long-haired cat, at least, I think that's what it feels like. All I know is that it's definitely softer than my own hair, which I take hours taking care of. I doubt he even does much for his hair, which not gonna lie, gets me jealous at times. How does one make their hair so soft that it floofs up and floats?
"Anyways, why is your quirk information everywhere?" Shinsou asked out of nowhere, " I've been meaning to ask you, but always forget."
I stopped petting his hair and formed it into a fist, putting my chin on top of my knuckles. Shinsou frowned and pulled my other hand, placing it onto his head.
Feeling my cheeks heating up, I tried to play it off and chuckled, continuing to run my fingers through his hair.
"Ah, hah. It's a long story." I replied.
He hummed. "I got all day. Well, not really, but you know what I mean."
Placing his phone back into his pocket, he stretched a bit before looking into my eyes. "I'm willing to listen."
I sighed. "It's kind of dramatic now that I think about it," I said, scratching my cheek with my other hand, feeling his stare upon my face.
"To put things short, basically, one of my best and only friend ditched me." I started, clutching my hands onto my skirt.
"I found her sitting in our usual spot, eating lunch with her friends. I was going to leave, but they started calling my mother a slut and acted as if she was going to sue them if they don't leave."
"Huh? Who's your mother?" He asked.
I deadpanned. "Wait, you don't know?"
How the heck does someone know me, but not who my mother is?
"I don't really look at that stuff." He shrugged.
I raised an eyebrow in suspicion but answered his question anyway. "Do you know EverGreene?" I asked.
"Ah," he exclaimed, "wasn't she the 12th ranked hero or something of Japan? Pretty impressive, she's your mom?"
"Yeah," I confirmed. "She retired a few years ago, but she's getting back into the works this year in America."
"Wow, must be nice, huh?" He smirked. "Having a hero as your mother."
"I guess—" I shrugged. "—yeah."
"Anyways, then what happened? Sorry, I cut you off."
"No, it's okay," I reassured, "I got pretty upset at them, calling my mother a slut, so I confronted them. Things got rather heated, and uh, my best friend started saying offensive things. At the moment, I wasn't thinking straight and used my quirk on her."
"I had a pretty big breakfast that day, so I grew a lot of things despite not being full. I think anger drove my power a bit overboard too." I added.
"Dang, I think I did see this on the news before." He pondered. "Something along the lines of, 'One of Japan's hottest hero's daughter tried killing her class.'"
One of Japan's hottest heroes... I guess it's not every day that people call your mother hot.
"I didn't know it was you, but I thought it was ridiculous and clicked off." He continued.
"I'm not even strong enough to do that," I sighed. "I did grow a huge venus fly trap, but it didn't even scratch her despite gobbling her up."
"Gobbling her up?! Oh my god, remind me not to piss you off." He joked, tilting his head away from my lap.
I huffed and shifted his head so I could continue to pet his hair. "I mean, you have to try pretty hard to get me to that stage. You seem pretty chill too, so I think we're good." I laughed.
"I'm kind of surprised there aren't more rumors." He remarked, closing his eyes as I massaged his scalp.
"Me too." I agreed. "I think my mother paid some companies to keep the news at bay, but people still remember it of course, they just don't talk about it. Not to mention, some illegal websites still have the news up for people to see."
"The students here are strangely quiet though." He noted.
"I think they all just want to be on my good side— for benefits."
"Benefits?" His eyes widened. "Matsu, I—"
"No, I know." I smiled. "You're not someone who'd do that. Besides, you were nice to me before you even knew who my mother was."
"Strange, you have a lot of hopes in me, huh?" He grinned, booping me on my nose. "Despite people saying that I'll be a villain."
I pouted. "I swear, if you keep bringing yourself down, I'm smearing ketchup all over your hair."
He chuckled. "I'm just joking~."
