┊ ➶ ❁۪ ｡˚Gukhyeon is the daughter of former Fin.K.L member Ock Juhyun and musical theatre actor and director Bu Hangyeol. Throughout her life, everyone always joked that Guk and her twin sister , Gahyeon were the reason Fin.K.L disbanded, as their birth came only 4 months after FinkL's unofficial breakup. Growing up in the theater and being constantly surrounded by artists, the dizygotic twins were almost fated to develop an interest in music and performance. Ever since they were in diapers the pair would create their own plays and songs to perform for their parent's fancy celebrity friends. As they grew up and their talents bloomed a very set in stone dynamic was created : Gukhyeon was the Man In The Chair , composing their songs and playing the background instruments, while Gahyeon was the lead vocal, the performing power, the star . The twins dreamed of making their act legit and becoming a successful duo, they even appeared on some variety shows when they were 13 and hosted some festival performances, riding on their mother's name for attention and legitimacy. It was only when DSP Media reached out to them in 2017, asking if they would like to debut under them in an attempt to replicate JYP's 15&'s success, when Gukhyeon was forced to finally voice out her frustrations about their dynamic. Gahyeon always overshadowed Guk, she was a performer too and loved singing as much as her sister did, something that Gahyeon seemed to forget. Nobody paid attention to her in the background playing keyboard and all the acclaim and praise for the songs Gukah wrote went to Gahyeon. Over the years Gukhyeon, after being ignored by every audience they played for, started to think she belonged in the shadows. The pair had a big fight as Gahyeon didn't understand why Guk couldn't just sign the contract and why would she pass on such an important opportunity. One month after they declined DSP's offer, Gahyeon convinced her twin to join her as a trainee under Yuehua Entertainment, Gukhyeon went but immediately chickened out, claiming to her sister that she needed to work on her identity aside from being's Gahyeon's backup vocal. 3 months later she joined Kakao M solo as a trainee,only to join SUGARPOP in 2019, placing in the disputed third place.

┊ ➶ ❁۪ ｡˚ When you first meet Gukhyeon you will probably think she's a creeper. She has this underlying nervous energy to almost everything she does, almost like underneath her every thought and words she's always counting milliseconds. She has the tendency of totally disassociating from the world,her eyes get wide and googly and you have absolutely no idea of what's happening inside her head. Gukhyeon's mind works in a very unique way, being a huge Physics and Math nerd, Guk is always trying to make sense of the world, figuring out the patterns and systems behind everything. It her way of soothing her innate anxiety and awkwardness, if everything can be catalogued, studied and predicted the world is much less scary place to take on your own. Gukhyeon really doesn't know how to Socialize ™ , her idea of starting a conversation is spewing random facts about goose reproduction with a frozen smile. She kind of has friendship and closeness directly linked to the toxic overshadowing dynamic she has with her sister, so she's got a defensive attitude and gets really startled whenever her members touch her or show affection. Her brain has just been wired to think that, if someone wants to get close to her, they'll just ask for favors,use her and make the relationship only about them. As her persona, Guk has a very quiet down to earth Lowkey Girl, but when she's with the members she's reported to be quite Cute and Rambley. Because she gets awkward so ofte she's constantly breathlessly trying to explain herself as the members clown her, she often gives deadasss academical lectures when the members ask about the equations she does for fun and secretly tries to clean everyone's rooms for them because she's literally the only members who's not incredibly messy.

🍉 -—- Gukhyeon has been active as a producer since she was 11 under her SoundCloud name, LoveLace. The name was chosen after Ada Lovelace, the writer of the first machine processed algorithm and Guk's all time biggest crush.

She was really paranoid, she had a huge poster on her room where she did the math for every vote counting and ran through all the possibilities, statistics and previsions. She was really spiraling. The girls suspected her eyes were always red because she stayed up all night, counting. The moment she stepped up to that podium, being announced as third place, she knew it was bullshit, she knew it was impossible.

🍉 —- Gukhyeon's best friend in the group is Aoi. Gukhyeon was the only person that Aoi could rely on after they were announced as winners and separated from the rest. Even though Guk was Totally Not In A Good Place To Give Support, she was able to pull through her distrust and defensiveness and comfort Aoi. She's very proud of herself for that.
